ok, admittedly, this place doesnt look like much from the outside. and the taped up cardboard signs on the to go menu wont do much to change your opinion. BUT! the food was great and so were the prices! in kaufman for an event & the civic center and saw the julios sign while looking for a close place to eat. i think the building used to be a church's chicken at least it looks like it and chicken and fish were both available - and all if it fried. we got 2-3 pc fish plates ($7) and 1 shrimp plate ($5) both came with 2 sides and there was a nice variety of sides. all the food was fresh and hot and yummy! we really enjoyed the seasoning on the cornmeal crust of the fish. i will say the pieces of fish werent very big or thick, but both plates had 4 or so pieces, so maybe we got more pieces due to their size. but it was plenty. side portions were also generous. there were 4 or 5 shrimp on the shrimp plate and it looked to have a batter on it. their tartar sauce was a little different from any i had - looked and tasted like it had some mustard in it. but it was tasty. service was fast, food was great, so give julio's a try! read more

on 4-11-24 at around 2pm i went to the drive thru and ordered a meal that cost $6.48, i gave him $10.48 and waited for my $4.00 change, however, i never got it! the man, wearing a green shirt walked away and didn't come back to the window even though i sat there for a couple extra mins waiting. i called to tell the manager and the man that answered said he was the manager, once i told him my issue he said that was him at the window and that he wouldn't do that! well he did it! he then said well you should have honked! i will never go back! it seems, the way it all went down, that he probably voided the whole transaction just so he could keep all of my money for himself. read more

If you don't feel like heating up your kitchen to cook fried chicken head to Julio's. I am not sure how long they have been in Kaufman but it's been a long while. Huge fresh chicken breasts, good tenders, fried okra, cream gravy, mac n' cheese, fried corn nuggets. Catfish is good too, two people can usually split one dinner, portions are large. They have honey biscuits or yeast rolls. The mashed potatoes are from a mix, not bad but not fresh, pour some cream gravy on top and they make do just fine. Sweet tea will give you instant cavities but sometimes that is exactly what you need with your country chicken dinner. I like the drive thru and taking the food home, the interior leaves A LOT to be desired, it is an old Church's and hasn't been updated much at all. Counter service. My Grandmother liked that if you tell them you are a senior citizen they give you a discount (10% I think). read more

Their catfish is the ABSOLUTE best!!! And there shrimp is the bomb.com also. And they have some good fries also, the seasoning just makes it delicious. Their chicken is super good also and I recommend u try this place when ever u get the chance. And with some good food they have some cheep prices that come with it. I want to begin with the fact that I always come here instead of chicken express because the strips and legs USE to be large and hot....not at all any more, they have figured out that when you buy by the pound and sell by a number, they can screw the customer! My strips were as small as a nugget from McDonald's,,,, and when I asked the one person who seemed to speak English, she said sorry that's how they come... Hmm, maybe an extra one, but no. They also left out my fries, then argued with me, saying I said I didn't want them. Bullshit, I never did get them! And they didn't give them even after I asked, both rolls were hard, and almost burned! This place is the most disgusting place I have ever experienced. The cooks aren't wearing gloves at all but they are handling people's food. They're also battering the chicken and fish bare handed. While I waited for my food I watched one of the people kick raw food under the stove instead of sweeping it up and putting it in the trash. This place is beyond gross. I watched the girls walk past the bread rolls and their hair continuously brushed across the rolls. God know if they wash their hands or not. I've been eating here on and off for the last 15 years or so. Lately, service has gone down. Teenagers working seem to be more interested in goofing off than customer service. The last two visits in drive through, ordered 2 piece dark with double mashed potatoes. Get to window and paid and was asked to pull forward and they would bring food out. After 40 minutes of waiting, young man comes out with a small box. I asked him what's that and he said this is your order. I said to him there's no way two mashed potatoes could be in that small box. I showed him my receipt and he went back in and came out to tell me that this is what I ordered. I asked to speak to the manager and a worker comes out (not the manager) and I asked are you the manager, she said no but I can help you. I told her that if she is not the manager then you are not who I need to speak with. ThE manager would not speak to me. So I said that I want my money back and they refused. I told them they can keep the $5.00 order but they have lost a longtime customer over an order of two potatoes. I refuse to pay for goods and not get what I pay for. The food is hit and miss. The service however is terrible. There are a lot of teenagers working here that are a lot more interested in playing around and socializing than customer service. They speak over you in the drive thru line speaker trying to hurry your order even though you're not finished giving it. And the worst part is they simply cannot get your order correct. Every single time we bring it home something is wrong. Sometimes it's something small like brown gravy instead of white but others it's bigger like 3 tenders instead of the 5 your ordered and paid for. A manager needs to come down on these kids working there. Put up the cell phones and quit horseplaying and do your job. read more

Have eaten here many times, eat in and take out. I am not a huge fan of their regular fried chicken but I'm not really reviewing that. It is their catfish and chicken strips. There is not a better place within 30 miles to get hot, fresh very tasty catfish fillets. Their sides are not bad either. Get the okra fresh fried crispy, yum. Also good sweet tea. Prices are quite reasonable as well. I have taken the 25 piece box of catfish to work and everyone loves it. Keep it up. read more

Health Department step in. Rolls are dry, chicken looks over cooked. I don't even see anyone washing their hands frequently.

I ordered a mixed chicken dinner tonight. It was awful. The food was nauseating. I will never go there again.
