It's a nice facility, dear to my heart since we stayed there for 11 years. It is clean and well managed, but a little too pricey since most of the units are studio, two are 2-bedroom. Key Colony is a beautiful area, there is live music at the park at the end of Ocean Drive and a restaurant you can walk to. We liked the friendly atmosphere, especially the first couple of years, but for the money we can get more space, especially more space between our unit and the pool. It's a great little place for a short-term stay in the keys. read more

My family and I have been visiting this location the past 28 years. Every visit we reserve about 4-6 rooms annually. Unfortunately we're treated like new comers and welcomed with negative tones. Management is sadly very rude. We treat this place like home and have a great respect for each room and their owners but the discomfort we feel from the employees is out of hand. We stayed here three nights and were very pleased with our accommodations. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable -- not too soft, not too hard, and not saggy. Even though we didn't use the pool, it seemed to be nice. We spent time more on their small beach. A sea wall was built to keep the ocean from washing the sand away. It had a nice kitchen that was stocked with a few dishes and cooking pans. There was also an outdoor grill for guest to use. There were also some grass roofed picnic area where you could eat and be out of the sun. We used this place as our 'headquarters' as we drove around and explored the keys. Since we were there during the 'shoulder' season, the price was very reasonable. We would definitely stay there again. read more

Great vacation spot, we really enjoyed the condo we stayed at. The small beach area was super nice and there was plenty of chairs and shade. The only complaint I have is that they did not remove all the stinky sea trash. Low tide it was thick, full of litter, and smelled terrible and it was hard to avoid when trying to swim. High tide it just floated there covering the shallow water. But I won't take a star off for that because I don't know what their removal schedule was and we may of missed it when we left. Otherwise it was in a awesome location and the balconies were a nice touch! We really enjoyed the wild iguanas and all the bright fish! Water was otherwise clear and blue! read more

The ocean is beautiful but the manager, Kimmeron, provided terrible customer service. We told her that there was no hot water in the bathroom sink on our second day there. It was never fixed. The air conditioning went out for two whole days. The filter was covered in thick dust. Kim said that the filters are changed on the first of every month. We stayed from Jan 30-Feb 13 and the filter was never changed. When the air conditioning did come on, the master bedroom smelled like mildew. She made up a rule about chairs that was not in the renters' list of rules. Then she argued with us about it. A screen broke and was never replaced. We learned from other renters that Kim is unresponsive to renters' needs and is contentious and defensive. Apparently Kimmeron also manages KCB rentals so try to avoid her and her company when booking a unit in the Continental Inn. read more

What a brilliant discovery! Being a native South Floridian, I have been to the keys at least once a year since I was born. I consider myself a frequent Keys visitor, that being said, when I visit the Keys I know what to expect. Like most coastal locations in Florida, the accommodations aren't such as the Ritz or Waldorf Astoria so please bear in mind when you visit the very laid back and comfortable Florida Keys. If you would like these a fore mentioned locations, the Waldorf-Astoria is conveniently located in Key West, so go there. Otherwise, the Continental Inn is a lovely place to visit. Yes, the units are individually owned, that just means no cookie cutter hotel rooms. The three rooms my family utilized were each unique but tasteful in their own ranking. The location has a full kitchen including silverware, and serve-ware. The pool is located right in the center of the hotel. They do have lovely tiki-huts with full barbeque, but get up early as the other guests tend to camp out early morning. All in all a great place to visit with a casual feel, better accommodations than most other Keys hotels available. read more

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because it has so much to offer, but the little things that were missing made a big difference. I'm going to give you a break down of the pros and cons of our visit, as objectively as possible. We stayed in room #20 with an ocean view and king bed for one night. Pros- pricing is amazing! Ocean view was spectacular Room was immaculate- so clean and spacious Decor was chic -lovely beach theme with nice kitchen and shower Not many guests since rooms are privately owned, so it's nice and quiet Warm pool + chairs TV and FULL KITCHEN!! Cons- Actual beach was very small, filled with sand fleas and water was mucky (I understand this is not their fault, but it would have been nice to have been able to enjoy the beach) There wasn't much to do.. No rentals or Hammocks and the "rec room" was a storage for furniture and some VHS +books THE BIG CON- ROCK HARD MATTRESS. no joke, we thought it was just a box spring on top of another. I ended up sleeping on the couch and my husband made a bed out of towels and extra sheets. He is a big guy 6'2" and heavy who prefers firm mattresses, and I'm short 5'2" and light and prefer softer mattresses, but whatever was used to make that bed is something designed for no type of person to enjoy. It pierced into us (you can feel each individual spring) for the few hours we could endure to lay on it. Sure enough, we both woke up extra cranky :(. I WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK but I'd test the mattress first, pack some games and bring the whole family. I would not rent with intentions of going to a nice beach though. read more

We stayed in a condo under the "owner" Kim who is only works as admin there. There were no rules posted up about restrictions on radios, coolers at the beach, and pool closing whenever they are ready to close after purchasing and before arriving at our condo. we only realized when we got there, rules are posted up everywhere. The beach was covered in seaweed the entire stay of a week. Kim harassed us constantly when we were enjoying ourselves. Constantly causing problems between the family stay. Instead of being an adult and coming to confront the parents, she constantly tried to argue with my children even when they did what she asked. She also thought it was necessary to tell me my children were disrespectful and my daughter had a "problem with female authority". Keep in mind I am an executive director of my own organization that my daughter does charity work for. Kim completely disrespected my family and I. We came to have a nice family vacay and feel comfortable at our stay but instead we were constantly being watched and harassed the entire time. Don't recommend to any one. read more

If you are staying here on vacation, DON'T .....unless you want to be harassed by the Manager Elizabeth. She follows you around waiting to see if your going to break any of the 100s of rules they have. You can't have water at the pool area. It's FLORIDA with the heat index reaching over 100 degrees are you crazy. She yells at your children and the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. She said that there were owners in property that were complaining about us. Our family has been staying here for 15 years occupying anywhere from 10-15 rooms a year. The owners want to have peace and quiet when they are there, but also want our money so we can essentially pay for there vacation home. We had to make the best of our time them but won't be going back which is sad. My 8 yr old daughter is heartbroken since she looks forward to going there every year and doesn't understand why the mean lady didn't like us and yelled at us for 3 days. read more

I never write reviews, but I felt like I needed to write about this super cute hotel. I'm an employee of a large corporate hotel and stay with them quite often. I booked this hotel because I was visiting the keys and wanted to stay close to the venue of the wedding we were attending. I thought this was going to be a grimy little beach cottage. Let me tell you, it is absolutely not that at all. Our room was so cute and clean and most importantly, cool. The AC works! There was a very comfortable king size bed, a living space, dining room table, and a kitchen with a full size refrigerator, coffee maker, stove, and microwave. The cabinets are all stocked with pots and pans and dishes. Had we stayed more than one night, we could easily pick up groceries to cook. There are even BBQ grills on site. The nice little added touch: a bag in the fridge with two bottles of water, two granola bars, and coffee. I definitely recommend this hotel. Sometimes it's hard for me to pay full price for a hotel when I have such a great discount on rooms through my hotel. I am totally ok paying full price for this place. The best!! The room was super clean, had everything one could want. The beds were comfy. We loved the quiet seclusion but also the other guests and the staff were all so super friendly. In fact it seems everyone in key colony is happy! Drop dead gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. The park nearby had this awesome band one night and we had a blast! You can swim right there at the beach, they keep it nice and clean. We stayed on the first floor and I recommend highly room 29! These rooms are right by the beach. This place deserves a 1 star for having too many rules that truly impede the guest experience. For example no radio/speaker on beach only head phones. These rules are not their Airbnb website. We were barely able to enjoy our weekend due to the over controlling of the property. Not even at a 5 star hotel due they control the guest experience to this extent. Chilling out in lounge chairs soaking up sun and watching boats go by and sun go down priceless. Loved kitchen area for our beverages and Key Lime pie just a treat. Great price for great get away! Stayed over spring break (again). Positives: The Continental Inn is a hidden gem tucked away from the highway with privacy and security on Key Colony Beach which has its own police force, golf course, parks, and great walking areas. The Continental Inn itself has its own beach and a great pool along with very friendly staff. Each condo is individually owned and has great personality unlike any hotel I stay at. The beach area is continuous in that you can walk a half a mile or so. There are a couple of nice Tiki huts with barbecues and a couple others with picnic tables. The rooms are all set up with full kitchens and there is a clean laundry area on site which is a big+. All this for less than the local hotels charge! Negatives: No online reservations. The ONLY place to stay in the Keys! It's in the middle of everywhere! On a sandy beach, great for swimming, fabulous views, comfortable chairs in & out of the sun. Quiet, clean, beautiful well tended grounds & a large recently refurbished pristine salt water pool. Private patio with every unit. Great walking neighborhood with Sunset Park right next door. Unit 25 was super comfy & provided everything you could possibly need if you like to eat in. Courteous office staff & the cleaning staff more than helpful. Absolutley one of the finest hidden treaures in the Keys! We stumbled upon this gem when our reservation was suddenly cancelled at a nearby location. We have been staying there every year since (12 years now). It is a two-story U shaped complex with a freashwater pool in the middle. Nice white sand beach, cleaned and raked every morning. Beautiful foliage on the grounds. We always stay on the first floor end units closest to the beach. out the door and 25' to the beach. Unit 30 has a king bed and unit 10 has two queens. each has a great full kitchen, sitting room and flat screen cable TV. Located on the southern tip of Key Colony Beach it is surrounded by condos and streets lined with million dollar homes. A great little park within walking distance called Sunset Park is very clean and a great place to view the gorgeous sunsets. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are cleaned daily. The rates are amazingly reasonable any time of years. Key Colony Beach is a private community with its own police and fire department. The people living or visiting the area are all very friendly and can be seen walking, jogging or biking at all time of day or evening. Sitting pn the beach chairs and just stairing at the water and watching the boats go by is very relaxing. I can't say enough about this place except go visit it soon! read more

My family and I have been coming here for years. Rental units are individually owned so you don't always get a good room. Our room seemed like it has not been updated in about 25 years. We stopped coming for a few years because we noticed the cleanliness was lacking specially with the towels . This time, we were pleased that the room was very clean and found a sign that explained the prices for the towels if taken, which I found ridiculous being that the towels are cheap towels and our past history with the towels. Our beds were hard causing us to wake up feeling "beat up". Other family members had more updated rooms which were nicer. The list of rules provided at check in was outrageous. It made me wonder what it was that we were allowed to do. I can't imagine the crowd that they've been getting when they found the need to create such a list. I noticed they have stopped cleaning the beach from seaweed in the mornings and they really do need to invest in the beach. It's dirty, making it difficult to swim in it. A lot of the guests would go next door where the beach is clean (but it is private property). I paid almost $200 a night for the room. It should be updated and the beach should be in better condition. read more

This place has the true Florida Keys feel... I was hesitant staying here after so many other unsatisfactory experiences in the Keys (since our favorite place closed about 10 years ago) but I am so glad we did, this is our new go to place for accommodations while in the Keys. When coming to the Keys you look for that laid back, beachy motif, comfortable feel while still desiring a clean and safe environment (not looking for the Hilton). The Continental Inn was extremely clean (inside and out), excellent customer service (personable staff), the room was prepared for a day or a lifetime stay. The only reasons this does not have all stars for me is the "Beach area" is not so beachy (because of the sea wall) but the area is clean, comfortable and tranquil (with a BBQ Tiki), for nice beaches go to Sombrero Beach or Bahia Honda (both nearby) also, because there is no fishing or boat dock on the property and even though we do not have a boat, while in the Keys, we like to walk outside our room and cast a rod and reel wherever we are. However, we will NOT let this stop us from future stays. #HighlyRecommended read more

My wife and I had previously stayed here numerous times. We discovered this place back in 2010 and loved it, back then. Their previous management was very courteous, friendly, and accomodating, especially to us as they saw us at least three to five times during the summer and we had become loyal guests. They even knew my wife and I by name... Ever since the manager and front desk staff was changed, some time in 2013, the place is not the same. After numerous disappointments in the last couple of years, we decided that our stay the week of 05/23/2016, would be our last. The staff was just rude and arrogant; not to mention lying to us. We asked for a particular room on the second floor, if it was available, which we had previously stayed on and were told that it was already booked; which we perfectly understood... But what we noticed and confirmed through and on the last evening of our stay, that throughout the four days we were there, not a single light was switched on at night on any of the rooms in the second floor and no one was seen come in or go out of the rooms. Not even during the day to go to the pool or the beach area (They must be the Cullen's!!) I guess the second floor rooms were closed and reserved only for the Memorial Day weekend guests (which they could have told us). In addition, the parking lot had no more than same four vehicles parked there for the four days we were there. Lastly, my wife freaked out when she turned on the kitchen lights on on Thursday night 05/26 and saw a huge roach on the kitchen counter (creepy, but not the first time!!). Obviously the place is not being taken care of as it used to. Believe me, overall, the roach did much better and was not as unpleasant as the staff!! Kudos roachy! read more
