The best resort in Islamorada. Why is it the best? Three reasons. First its Family owned. This family puts the customer first. Second the grounds are beautiful and amazing. Pool area is like a tropical paradise. Third, the resort rents a 23 foot contender boat. This boats is well maintained. The renting process is smooth and hassle free. Excellent fishing and snorkling just a short boat ride away. The boat owner Lou will show you the spots and put then in the boats gps for you. I can't believe no one has YeIped this place yet. I just drove back from Islamorada, after spending 2 wonderful nights at Caribbean Resort to celebrate mother's day and my son's 9th birthday. What could have been a 5 star review, ended on a sour note due to the poor attitude from the office girl at the check-out. I hope the manager(Mary) will read this and address your office staff on how to treat your guests. I will not put her name here, but she worked all Sunday 5/8/2011 So, what was the wrong attitude? Here it is. This is the first time at any hotel resort of this caliber, ($500+ per night) where after checking out at noon, we were forced to leave the property. We promtly checked out at noon, and since all of us had bathing suits on, i kindly asked the office girl if we could take a dip in the pool before heading back home. Bags were already in the car, we had our own pool towels (they don't provide pool towels at this resort). the whole resort was pretty empty, we were one of the only guests, so what's the big deal? right? Her answer was, NO. She said, you check-out, then you need to leave the property, She made you feel like you couldn't even breath in the property once you checked-out. Well, as we walked back to our car, we saw an empty pool (beautiful lagoon style one), so, we jumped in. Within 10 minutes, this office girls drove by in her golf cart and said, "Sir, you must leave, i was trying to be nice about it" "Nice abou it?" It wasn't the messege that was upsetting, it was how she addressed it. With a big fart face, saying she is being "nice" as she is asking us the leave? Other than this infamous office girl, everything else at the Caribbean resort is nice, not great. Rooms and furnitures need updates, sheets, blankets and pillows are sub-par level, TV is a 10 year old model. But, rooms are big, airconditioning works well, kitchen is equipped well and you get free Wifi. Grounds are kept beautifully, we loved the pool, fishing pier was great, (Mary, you should put a trash can out there at the end of fishing pier, so people can throw out their empty beer cans, rather than leaving on top of the fish cutting board) By the way, Mary, my kids and i picked up all those cans and threw them in the trash. There are many good things about this place, but it's amazing how one employee can ruin the whole experience. I will never go back! Great place for a relaxing time off. The entire place is built with small beautiful homes/ bungalows and all of them equipped with a full kitchen. Outside of our porch had a gas grill. There are no food and beverage outlets at the property, hence highly suggest to bring your own food and drinks. They have a beautiful pool and deck, but no beach access. Another great amenities are the complimentary bike, kayak and paddle board. Definitely a cool place that we would like to go back once in Islamorada!!! read more

Awesome Resort! We stayed for 4 days in the Pricess Palm villa. The villa decor was beautiful and comfortable. It was obvious that there was detail and attention to the landscaping and layout of the units. The lush Florida landscaping reflects what "Florida" is. The freeform pool is nestled within beautiful palms and planter areas. We brought our boat and the marina amenities were perfect, with easy access. It is obvious that the owner put much thought into this entire resort, like the layout and designing. All of the staff that I encountered were friendly & with respect for our stays privacy. We look forward to coming back and feeling like "we were at home"! read more

I stayed here for 2 nights. My friends got married on the property and rented 75% of the resort out. We stayed in the big house (compared to a penthouse) it was amazing. I posted a ton of pictures but the view and the relaxing porch and fell of the whole place was amazing. They had a fully stocked kitchen with everything you need for cooking and an elevator in the big house which was nice for hauling luggage up and down. The dock was really nice and had a big covered patio area where you can sit and enjoy the view. The porch in our house was amazing.. it was fully wrapped around the side equipped with 2 grills and had locks on the doors so you could prop all the doors open to let in the breeze. The heated pool looked like a laguna and was the nicest pool i have seen. The area around the pool was very lush and also had a hot tub, it literally felt like you were in a tropical forest. There are pretty of little restaurants in walking distance to get food and there is a 24hour market across the street. The wedding was amazing and the grounds were perfect space for a ceremony and I cant wait to see how perfect the pictures turned out. Why 4 stars? The price.... although this place is amazing and by far the nicest place I have stayed in, its VERY expensive. half of the big house we stayed in (slept 8 people) was $1500 a night. I would think for this price we would have come in to a big welcome packet or at least have some waters in the frig. read more

This venue made our wedding a dream destination wedding. It is absolutely gorgeous, well maintained and just picture perfect. The staff was more than helpful (thanks, Deanna!) and accommodating and the homes are big, comfortable and something your guests will remember. Being from the other side of the country (CA), I had one day to visit Islamorada and choose the venue - the minute I stepped foot on The Caribbean Resort I knew it was the right spot. We rented the entire resort for three days - had our welcome/rehearsal dinner around the pool (which is gorgeous), our ceremony under the amazing Balinese arbor, the reception on the parking lot at the water's edge and the dancing right next to the water. It was all PERFECTION. Everyone cannot stop talking about this wonderful location and we're already planning a reunion in a few years. Honestly, if you're looking for the perfect destination wedding location - you've found it! Stop looking and book this place FAST before it's taken!! read more

We have been coming here since 2006. This resort is a piece of paradise. The accommodations are spacious, well decorated, and comfortable. The grounds are immaculate. The beach entry pool and hot tub are never busy and you feel like you found a piece of paradise. One of the best features is the Oceanside marina. We stayed 4 nights in late April while attending a wedding nearby. The wedding was nearby because the owner won't permit weddings on the property unless you rent most or all of it, or at least the one 10-room building. Our unit (Princess Palm South) was part of a duplex. The other half was rented by the bride's parents (we are the groom's). Princess Palm overlooks the 'beach entry' type pool. Our unit was outstanding. The main bedroom (in the back) has a king bed which was a pleasure to sleep in. (I should note the other couple complained their king mattress was broken down and sunk toward the middle.) The other bedroom has a queen. The master has its own bath with shower and jet tub. The second has its own bath across the hall with a tub/shower unit. There is a small open kitchen with all appliances and tableware adjacent to the living room by the entry. A porch wraps all the way around the Princess Palm, with multiple seating areas. Everything about our unit was clean, comfortable and functional. The cleaning staff was excellent, discrete and patient (there were some late nights!). If you like fishing or have a boat, the property has a boat ramp and dock at the end. For our purposes, the dock and its palapa were a great place to sit and watch the pelicans while enjoying a tall cool one or two. The entry is gated (closed at night with a keypad for entry), but the owner and staff apparently had a lot to do, driving back and forth between the units frequently. The location is near many nice restaurants, marinas and beaches with easy access on foot or by car. As others report, the pool is a delight. Beautifully landscaped with several varieties of palm, it is a pleasant respite, including a small whirlpool (which has only a 15 minute timer that requires multiple resettings to get the temp up to a soothing warmth). One end is excellent for soaking up the sun. There are several shaded seating areas with chairs or lounges and a small gazebo with a table. We had the rhearsal dinner catered in the open area between the unit and the pool. The caterer (Caribbean Caterers) is well-known to the staff. They set up the tables and bar and took care of the landscape prep and cleanup with no problems. We had perfect weather and it was an evening to remember. The resort is clearly used to this kind of event. I also shared the check-in/check-out experience. We checked in on Thursday and were warmly received. We anticipated a late checkout on Monday (1:00pm) which was no problem. The attitude at checkout was more desultory and, yes, I had the feeling we were being 'encouraged' to make it snappy because the checkout clerk started straightening up the place while we were still in the unit packing up! Not what one expects for a $$$$ rental. Overall, a wonderfrul place to stay. A hidden gem because they don't advertise widely, besides being on a back street without signage on Rte 1. I recommend stretching your $ by sharing it with another couple or some family members, unless you have a need for the facility, as we did. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME LOOKING ANYWHERE ELSE- THIS IS "THE" PLACE. - Less expensive than anything around it on the ocean, and FAR better! - We looked at A LOT of dumpy places around the area and this was a no-brainer - Extremely clean - Wonderful Florida architecture - Perfectly maintained grounds, with key lime trees and banana trees - Beautiful five star accommodations - A nice bottle of wine when you check in - Not commercialized, it gives you the feeling of coming home to family- this is NOT a tourist trap - This was our first visit, but the people we talked to had been going there for over fifteen years! And they are now bringing their grand children. - This is "THE" place in Islamorada to stay! - We had the pleasure of meeting Phil, the owner. He was amazing, he treated us like family with open arms, and said if we ever bought fish from a retailer again, he would double our rate! That evening we had the best piece of fish we have ever eaten anywhere! Caught fresh that morning! - The paradise we finally found was gated, and extremely safe! You didn't feel like you had to ever lock your doors! And if you are traveling with young ones, even better! - Want to get Married? This is the place!! - Amazing living room under a tiki hut, with unobstructed views of the gin clear turquoise waters of the Atlantic. This is where you enjoy your evening (and morning) beverages! We are already working on our next trip! This wildly exceeded our expectations! My husband and I are very picky people when it comes to cleanliness and the privacy of not being surrounded by tourists that the other resorts have. This place was a dream up until you check out. They list check out time as 11 AM, and ask you to drop off the keys at the front desk when you leave. We had a group of 6, in the house - there for a wedding and all going our separate ways after the weekend. Because the room was in my name I took the keys back around 10 AM so I could get on the road to catch a flight. By 10:23 the front desk was calling me (multiple times in a row). Furious that people were still in the unit because apparently once the keys are turned in you have to vacate the property immediately. The woman yelled at me that she was ready to clean the room and demanded my friends phone number that was still in the room packing up. She was incredibly rude and hostile. She turned what was a wonderful weekend at a beautiful venue - a place that I was raving and recommending to everyone - into all of us leaving with very negative feelings towards the resort. Customer service is clearly not something these people care about. read more

First class resort on the Keys, with the staff making you feel more like family than patrons. I felt like we were at a 5 star hotel, but secluded from the masses. We spent the week barbecuing and swimming by day, and watching the stars on the fishing pier at night. we came for a quick trip to make sure we were re-renting a house for a large group for the summer. after staying at this property we changed plans and are now relocating the group here. Great spot for close by Yummy restaurants and close by snorkeling. We bring a boat so a lot of our fun is thanks to Mother Nature. We are very picky on cleanness and expect the best. Spent a long weekend this past July at the Caribbean resort. It was nothing short of fantastic. Rented two houses for a large group. Everyone was happy from adults to the littlest of kids. Grounds are gorgeous and maintained to perfection. We brought three boats and the marina was used with ease. Loved the bikes, kayaks, paddle boards and pool! This resort is absolutely beautiful! A hidden gem for sure. The lagoon style pool is unlike any I have seen before. The complex is fairly small which makes it perfect for a more intimate getaway that feels more like a tropical home away from home than a typical resort, and the grounds are absolutely immaculate! I went with my fiance and we could not have had a more pleasant and relaxing time. All of the staff we interacted with including the owner were extremely friendly and professional so I feel bad for the unfortunate experience the previous reviewer had but I would guess that isn't the norm! The Caribeen Resort is like Geroge Clooney letting you stay in his guest house. It's plush, ice cold, flat screen tvs, full luxurious kitchen, and lots of room. It's nicer than your own house. Sitting on the porch in wicker chairs with fat cushions, staring out and overlooking the banana trees and key lime trees in full bloom is splendiferious. The pool surrounded by at least five different palm tree types (the silver palms are magnificent) is the perfect place to swig on a cold one and cool down from a long day of catching yellowtail snapper. And talk about service, I planned to leave at 7:30am to make my way back to Miami only to find I had a flat tire. My only choice was to call the emergency number. Within minutes, a man and his young son came rolling up on bikes and literally changed my tire for me. The man was the OWNERS BROTHER! I had to beg them to take a tip as they continued to refuse. They saved the day! It may be expensive but we come down for a fishing tourney and four families can easily stay in one suite. Thus, the $100 a night is cheap compared to other motels in the area. If you come down by boat, there is no better place to navigate from. This place rocks. Again, thank you guys for saving my day! read more
