The rooms are clean but a bit creepy in their Florida kitsch decor (aka: yard sale decorations). I keep thinking there was a peephole in the wall where a large sweaty serial killer sat unblinking, just waiting for me to fall asleep. I was concerned with the traffic waking me too early and asked for a room off of the main road and was told you can't hear a thing in there. This is simply not true. I had a room off the side and was still awoken by traffic before 8am. Check out time is too early for any motel standard; 10:30am. They have a small refrigerator, sink and microwave which was really nice to use. For the price, it is worth it. Bring a fan to drown out the noise if you are a light sleeper.

Make no mistake -- we're not talking about 24 hour room service and on site spa here. The Anchor Inn is old school -- looks like the old time motels that got shoved to the side when the chains took over the hotel business. But I guess that's a big part of its charm. It is what it is. My husband and I stumbled on it two years ago and we have gone back again and again. The decor of the rooms is Florida kitsch (which is kind of fun) and some of the rooms are bigger and better than others. OUR favorite unit has a full kitchen and a patio right outside the door (great view of the neighbor's Harleys...lololol!) We love this place -- affordable, fun, clean and a central location. Owners Warren and Patty are the most amazing host you can imagine. They were here upon my arrival. They insured all of our needs are met. We left refreshed in the morning, coffee and breakfast outside our room as the sun rose, dazzled by the Yellowtails location and astonishing staff, as for The Grassy Key, Outpost, those two guys who own it and the staff, wow
