Best urgent care facility I've ever been to! Promptly seen, SO clean and Dr Sotelo was great. I hope I don't have to go back to urgent care anytime soon, but if I do, I won't hesitate to go back here. He's a great doctor, friendly and explained my treatment plan well, and even told me what to expect if I have to come back. I don't have a GP at the moment so if I don't get better, I know he will be able to see me for further tests. They take my insurance and I even made an appointment online the night before. Just checked this place out yesterday for some abdominal pain. WOW!!! It is just like going to the ER. They have everything right there and the nurses and doctors all work in the ER. They are associated with memorial care so information can be relayed easily through that system. They have all imaging available, hospital beds with doors and curtains for privacy. A tv in your room. Your bloodwork is tested right there so you will have results pretty quickly. The staff from the front desk, nurses, medical assistant and doctors were all extremely friendly, kind and made me feel very comfortable. They were extremely thorough in trying to figure out the problem. I am extremely happy they are right around the corner from me. We will be back if needed. Cant recommend them enough. Avoid this place if you can. The front staff specifically Olivia does not have interpersonal skills or is burnt out. As a health care provider myself I understand first hand how difficult our jobs can be, however we enter this field to support those who are coming to us out of necessity. I would never talk to my patients the way she talked to me and my partner. If you aren't happy with your hours, your pay or how accessible your clinic is talk to your clinic managers and MDs but don't be patronizing or confrontational to ppl who are coming in because they don't feel well. read more

I have been to MANY urgent cares. This one tops them all. It was such a god experience given the circumstances we went for my toddler. They helped us, listened to us, and came up with solutions quickly. They gave us such great care. It was late and all of the staff was treating us so nicely. I'm not local to the area but if I have to go to urgent care I will be trying to make it to this one. It's clean and a very messenger facility. They also have great prices for those that don't have insurance. They have a online pre registration option available and that made check in so quick and hassle free. They did so amazing with my crying toddler, she wasn't easy to treat and they were just so patient and understanding. Overall I loved this experience here and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

I have a great story about this place. I have had this back pain already for almost 2 years, have visited several doctors who performed MRI, x Rays, physical therapy, etc and none of the other doctors were able to tell me with certainty what was causing my back pain. Here it comes Dr. Freddy Sotelo, he was extremely nice and above all, he cared about the issue. He bent my back left right upside down and then all of the sudden hit the pain I have been feeling for so long. It took him probably no more than 3 minutes to find the pain, and another 5 minutes to explain me what to do to get rid of the pain. I just want to say it's really hard to get me to go in and get checked as I've had so many poor experiences with doctors that don't listen or make you feel crazy. I did research as I was in pain and drive forty miles to come here because of the reviews, and I'm so very thankful I did. From the moment you walk in you are met with two smiling intake ladies and within ten min I was being seen by the most caring ER (not a NP) physician I've ever met. Dr. Z was so thorough and so inquisitive to all that was going on with me. I had some hesitations on certain procedures and she reminded me that I have control over my health care that they were there to make the suggestions that felt necessary. I really appreciated that. It ended up I had appendicitis and she suggested several hospitals in the area and I went to Long Beach Memorial where I had an emergency appendectomy. I'm so grateful for this facility and how caring they were. I will always come back when needed, hopefully I won't but I feel I found a place I can't trust. Also want to note that all labs and imaging were done here as well after hours and I was able to have that quickly to take with me to LBM for surgery. read more

I went in for a post op infection on my hand. I was put on IV antibiotics and given a prescription for more once I got home. I had been reaching out to my surgeon but couldn't get any return calls. It was Memorial weekend. I had heard about this place from my sister who socializes with some nurses. They recommended it. I was very grateful to be treated well and with good quality care. Not just a quick patch up and see your primary doctor. The doctor assessed my situation and acted promptly and I was already well on the mend by the time I saw my surgeon. I will be going there as needed. I've taken my brother there as well but was advised he needed to go to the hospital immediately. He was admitted for 5 days with sepsis. read more

I came in for the Covid test, of which I tested negative through the in-home rapid test. Ms. Christine Panopio NP suggested doing the Antigen test again. It resulted in Negative also. But because of my wife's covid and my symptom, even if slight, she suggested the molecular test. After an hour, the result came in and I tested Positive. I decided to wait for the treatment in their hospital bed because after all, it is comfortable and it has a private TV. I asked about the popular PAXLOVID. Considering that I take a blood thinner and other heart medications, she told me about BEPTELOVIMAB. It sounded good to me and to my wife who had the infusion a few days earlier. Christine is very competent, notwithstanding her young looks. She is professional yet friendly. I learned more about Covid treatments in a few minutes from her than from the news networks. The RN who did the infusion was Katherine Alconaba. I remember her name because she comes from the same region in my old country and we have, in fact, common friends. She was an expert in locating the big vein. She must have done IV several times. She was confident and did not hesitate at all. I write this little tidbit because it shows that the medical practitioners here are not mechanized humans but truly are professionals with a heart. I highly recommend CONTINUEM to everyone. I am so disappointed with ContinuEM Urgent Care in Lakewood, CA. They are not honest or ethical with their business practices. I went in for treatment on November 15,2023. The doctor recommended I get a CT scan done, but told me that ContinuEM did not accept health insurance for the CT scan and that I had to pay $719.00 in cash, so I did. Later, I find out they also submitted a claim to my health insurance, Blue Shield of California for the CT scan performed on me, so they got paid again. So I decided to call Argus, their billing service on May 10,2024, requesting a reimbursement. They told me I had to wait 30-60 days. To follow-up I just called Argus again on July 15,2024. They told me they submitted my request to the office manager at ContinuEM to issue a reimbursement check back on May 24, 2024. I just hung-up with the customer service representative at ContinuEM. She stated that the office manager would look into my request. What else is there to look into? ContinuEM just does not want to give me back my money. They are just plain thieves. I was seen at this UC for the first time. There was very little wait time till I was placed in an examination room. The treatment area is large and very well maintained. Each room is private, some with glass doors and others with curtain doors. The provider I saw was professional and extremely knowledgeable. She brought up a possible cause of my symptoms that hadn't been explored before. I felt she listened to my complaints patiently and with concern. My favorite urgent care of all time! The staff is friendly, and they really do take care of you and want to treat you. Most of the time when you go to urgent care they can't run tests so just have to send you home without many answers. Here they can run multiple tests and do possible imaging to see what's going on. It's easy to make appointments online, even same day (or walk in). The rooms are comfortable, and the place is entirely clean. I've only had pleasant experiences here. Truly has saved me from a couple potential visits to the ER. Parking is also ample and easy access to the facility. So glad I found this place and would reccomend to anyone I know. read more

Yesterday my husband took my 3 yr old son in for an allergic reaction to an antibiotic. The provider prescribed him an antibiotic that is in the same family as penicillin. Of course my son had a reaction but not as bad. I called this morning to see if they can prescribe us a different antibiotic but no they want us to go in again to charge us so we can get a different prescription. Such a bogus place. I had a bad fall in late May and wanted an x-ray of my knee and an examination to confirm that the worst result of this fall were just some new scars. I called Optum (my regular physicians group) to schedule an appointment with any available PA or physician. Nothing was available for a PA for over a month and the physicians were two to three months backed up. So, based on a friend's referral, I went to ContinueEm in Lakewood. Very impressed. Arrived around 9:50 a.m., was in a room by 11 a.m., had x-rays and a thorough exam by a very nice, competent and professional, E. Motesano which was followed up with a final consult by Dr. Sotelo. Was out by 12:15 p.m. Yes - you have to wait. But so much faster than any ER. (I have sat in ERs with in-laws for hours - the one hour wait here was refreshing.) The staff is very nice, the place is very clean and everyone I met was very professional. I would highly recommend ContinueEM. read more

Watch out for their billing practices - the billing service was useless in answering any questions regarding services and insurance coverage. My daughter went in for an ear infection they took the insurance card and stuck her with a ridiculous bill - I paid the bill so her credit would not be wrecked. I told her never to use them again. Stumbled upon this center while looking for urgent cares nearby. Went in on a Sunday to a nearly empty, and very clean waiting room. I was taken back relatively quickly and seen by an NP named Marina. I felt like she really listened to me and asked insightful questions. She didn't dismiss any of my fears and it didn't feel like I was being rushed. I appreciated her patience. The girl who drew my labs was very friendly too (red hair). Very pleased that this was one of the few urgent cares in the area that had ultrasound capabilities (yes even MemorialCare urgent cares don't have ultrasounds) so it saved me a trip to the ER. They are adjacent to a huge imaging center so it was super convenient. I would definitely come here again and totally recommend it to friends and family. I was also very glad they took my HMO insurance, that's always dicey. read more

This is the best urgent care EVER!!!!! The staff was simply the best and so patient with our sick 2 year old. We were able to easily make an appointment online to avoid sitting in a waiting room for hours, there were lots of open time slots. The waiting room was very clean and the reception staff made the check in process very easy/fast. We were taken to a private room very quickly and seen by the nurse almost immediately. They staff listened to our concerns and walked us through all the procedures and answered questions. This was by fast one of the best urgent care experiences EVER... I brought my son (2yrs) here today and I am extremely happy with our first visit. We were greeted by two lovely receptionists, one who gave my son three stickers which made his day. We waited about 15 minutes before heading to the back. Two lovely nurses helped with my son and he was very calm and comfortable with them. They were really friendly. The wait wasn't bad and the doctor came in very warm and engaging with my son. He reassured me my son was going to be okay and we were on our way. He didn't make us feel rushed, he really gave us his undivided attention and made us feel very comfortable. He played with my son and talked to him about his stickers and evaluated him. I felt confident and comfortable with his diagnoses after his thorough exam. The place was extremely clean and well kept. Everyone was very friendly and the wait wasn't long. Came here for the antibodies but they said I didn't qualify to get them because they currently have a low quantity available and had to shift tiers due to something about government funding. They should have been explicit about this on their website to make an appointment - especially since it seems like their requirements fluctuate due to inventory. They said they had a lot yesterday so would have administered it then. Just a PSA to call and check to spare yourself the gas. Also, the RN went through the eligibility test with me in the reception area - detailed questions about medical history and everything. Flagrant HIPPA violation - they should at the very least ask those in a private area. Staff was polite enough, just sloppy. read more

After falling and injuring my shoulder I went to ContinuEM as I was leaving on vacation in 48 hours and needed to know the extent of my injury and any potential treatment I may need. Not to mention I was in a lot of pain. From the time I walked in the service was excellent! They took my insurance info, had me do the quick check in and I was in a bed within 15 minutes. I was quickly assessed for my pain level and offered pain medication as I awaited my x-rays. I was seen by both the Physician and a Nurse Practitioner and made very comfortable while I awaited the results. My shoulder was immobilized and I was sent home with my diagnosis, treatment options and recommendations, a copy of my x-rays, and with pain medication on board. My sister was referred to this facility for a CAT scan. She was experiencing severe pain in her groin and thigh area to the extent that she couldn't walk. I drove her to Continuem this afternoon for the scan. The check-in was fairly easy and they were pleasant. However, I would say that the breakdown with this "urgent care" "ER" facility is that they don't assess your you reason for visiting or take vitals prior to taking you back to what looks like the emergency room in a hospital. Therefore, they don't know if you should be given a hospital gown, a blanket, or an iv. My sister was put in a room, but was not asked to take off her street close and put on a hospital gown. So, when the nurse came to put in an iv in her arm she couldn't get to her arm due to her long sleeve shirt. When the tech came in to get her ready for the CAT scan he had to ask her if she was wearing any clothing with wire or metal. Then we had to get her bra off with the iv line, under her shirt. My sister was was cold and we had to ask if there were any blankets. She was in severe pain and we had to ask twice for pain medicine. They brought her in the room in a wheelchair because she couldn't walk, but nobody addressed her pain level. When she was taken to have the CAT scan she had to get up off the bed and get in a wheelchair again to be taken to outside to "temporary area out back in a trailer!" She was in so much pain she couldn't put her leg flat on the table. They finally gave her a low dose of morphine (4mg) in order to perform the scan. After the scan they announced that they weren't happy with the results of her first bloodwork so they were going to do it again. The problem there is, they never drew her blood in the first place. I was in the room the entire time and I saw the nurse put the iv in, but she did not draw any blood. By now it was late and there was nobody left at Continuem to read the CAT scan results so they sent it to a remote tech to write a report. After two hours the report came back that everything was "remarkable' and he couldn't find anything. Based on that report they sent her home with no diagnosis, and no pain medicine or muscle relaxer. She is now at home trying to sleep and crying due to the pain and lack of a diagnosis. I guess tomorrow we'll start over again. I only pray her insurance will cover further testing. read more
