Failure to make closing..... That's all you really need to know about this company. Despite providing them all documents same day or first thing next morning every time they asked for it and even if they asked for the same document more than once, I provided it right away. Despite all that they failed to make closing date and I almost lost my earnest money. Thankfully the seller was accommodating and we waited an additional couple of days for contour to make the second closing date. On top of that they kept making promises in both writing and in pamphlets that they "kept forgetting" to put on the loan disclosure documents even after I brought it up several times. The loan officer kept saying "don't worry about it, it'll show up on closing day". Not believing him I had to get higher levels of their management involved to make sure that they kept their promises that they were offering.. Somewhere in the middle of all that they kept asking me to sign these non-binding letters promising that I would continue to seek doing a mortgage with them and nobody else. That was a little strange and manipulative..... As I am seeking a mortgage for a different house contour is completely at the bottom of my list. I was a home first buyer, provided all the information requested plus credit report check, during days, weeks, months everyday I will get texts or calls saying all is fine, same paperwork and documents was requested weekly and repeatedly which did get annoyed bc most of them were submitted. We were told we will close in 1-2months. Never happened. Than told we will close mid September, September arrived and we got a call 3 days before closing that we were denied. I usually don't go out of my way to write bad reviews even if I had a subpar experience somewhere, but Contour went (and continues) to go above and beyond in making the mortgage process absolutely miserable. We got a SONYMA loan through Contour after being told by numerous real estate agents that Contour was the best company to work with for mortgages on Long Island (spoiler alert: they are not the best). Contour pre-approved us with no problem and told us that the mortgage would be ready 3 weeks before our initial closing date. Week after week, they asked for additional documentation, much of which didn't even seem relevant to the loan. For example, they asked us to submit 2 handwritten and signed letters explaining two separate Venmo charges, one for $40 and the other for $5. I wish I was making this up. It felt like either they had no idea what they were doing, or they were buying time. They would ignore our calls and messages whenever they couldn't answer a question. And you guessed it--when our initial closing date came around, our loan was not ready. In fact, Contour did not get our loan ready until 3 months after our initial closing date. Our saving grace was that the seller was also having issues securing some documentation, so it bought us a lot of time. But by the third month, the seller threatened to sue us if we weren't ready to close ASAP. It was incredibly stressful, and at that point, Contour stopped answering our calls all together. Even our attorney, who's been working in real estate for a long time, said that he had never seen anything like this. Once we finally closed on our house, we thought we'd never have to deal with Contour again. Boy, were we wrong. About 2 months after closing, Contour reached out to us AGAIN asking for more documentation. When we questioned them as to what that was all about, they didn't really know what to tell us, and eventually stopped answering our calls and messages. They never explained to us why they need additional documentation. We are hoping that this journey with Contour ends soon because they've been dragging us through the mud for months. And for the record, we have excellent credit and very stable jobs. So if they're doing this to us, I can't imagine what they're doing to others. Run as fast as you can from Contour. STAY AWAY!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!!! They will waste your time & money. Short story: 3months and still counting on closing a Re-Fi Cash-out. 3-FREAKING MONTHS!!! I went through Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas in this process (WOW). Long story: I'm a seasoned investor and realtor who always look to network and work with lenders, customers, and clients in the real estate industry. I was introduced to Contour Mortgage by way of a "Hard Money" Lender I use often. I have a recent investment that I needed to re-finance and cash-out so I started the Process with Contour Mortgage "Division Manager" Michael Higgins who seem professional at the time. He sold me on closing a Re-Fi Cash-Out in 2 weeks and Mortgaging the property under my LLC, which sounded great. I delivered all requested documents Mid of Sept. A week later I get a call from Contour Mortgage-Eric Brenke who says he will be the contact for immediate questions. Sounds wonderful right, I know. He requested more docs that I provide ASAP. Less than a week later another Person Nicole HAMM contact me saying she need more information. I'm confused because now I have talked to 3 different people in this process and she was requesting info I provided already. She then tells me to that I should provide her the info and she will work with Eric. Mid October comes and they have all the info but nothing! Every time I call Eric Brenke he has to check on my file. Nicole is MIA and Division Manager-Michael Higgins doesn't reply to my calls at all. A week later and after a few emails to Michael he reach out to discuss Re-Fi options. I decided on which one is best and they send out request for an appraisal. The price was a lot more than I'm used to, but I paid it after thinking it over. The appraisal was completed & submitted to them at the end of Oct. A week after the appraisal. I talked to Eric Brenke, mind you no-one contacted me to let me know the appraisal outcome or anything. He say they have all the info and now we're getting ready close. I'm thinking yes!!! A week later Contour Mortgage - Loan Processor - Giovanni Alba has more request of information (SMH). I provide everything ASAP once again. Weeks go past NOTHING!!! Per usual call Erick Brenke he knows nothing. Michael is unresponsive. Remember I said they told me they can close my re-if cash-out in 2 weeks well It's now the of last week November (2 months later) and they're just doing a Rate Lock while requesting more info (smh). I become so frustrated with the lack of communication, poor customer service, urgency that I email all personnel I was in contact with at Contour Mortgage which was 6 people and NOBODY RESPONDED! NO ONE CALLED TO EXPLAIN OR UPDATE ME. I literally called whoever number I have with Contour Mortgage for a WHOLE day to get answers. Eric once again knows nothing and claims he is not overseeing my file anymore and it's in another person hands who I have never spoke with (I'm Livid ATP). I make contact with the Giovanni and try's to make me understand a senario that seems so pointless of a hold up. Her only defense is "my hands are tied" (WTF). So currently I'm waiting to close (12-12-22) and the hold up is the underwriter wants the appraisal company to address some comments on the appraisal that happened in (10/27) that is an issue now (WOW). But I was told the comments doesn't affect the appraised value or my approval it's just what underwriting wants. Once that's done I can closed said Loan Manager - Giovanni Alba. Terrible customer service, they never call back to follow up on questions or issues. We have been trying to close for months but can't because they are taking so long to "process" everything. We gave John Aiossa three mortgages and two refinances. It was based on the recommendation of my husband and I thought we were doing the right thing by going with him. I began to realize I wasn't doing the right thing when I found out the refinance on my apartment which I owned had been switched during the closing process in the deed to be in both mine and my husbands name, which was not requested. I found out this during the process of getting a mortgage for my latest home. I was told during this process that after I had gone through the closing that I would be able to re-cast my loan in order to put down more money to get my payments lower. This was promised to me before closing. After the closing I find out from the investors that this was never an option and that John lied to me in order to put this mortgage through, and then knowing that the mortgage wouldn't have been excepted from my part if this wasn't the case. He's now put me in a situation where I'm not able to re-cast my loan and can't afford my payments. This complete misconduct and untrustworthy behavior with motivation to purely make money should not only be crushed in this industry but frowned upon. This behavior is disgusting and should not be allowed. And while he lives in a multi million dollar home because of the money that he's made from who knows how much distrust, he now puts other people in a vulnerable + inexplicable position. Shame on you John Aiossa. This behavior will be investigated and pursued further with a lawyer. read more

Horrible horrible. Then Danny Pisani and his team at Contour were heaven sent. Everything was so done so quickly and swiftly!! They gave us the best rates possible at the time and didn't include any additional unnecessary fees other companies tried to pin on us. Terrible! I've been in this business a long time and have never had a more terrible experience. Gavin Benson told my buyer that his CTC was coming any day now for 20 days!!! while continuously asking for more documents every 3 days my buyer finally got fed up with paying for rate locks and walked away. They have no idea what they are doing here and Gavin Benson needs to be fired! Both the buyer and I have called about 15 times in 3 businesses days and no return calls. Contour's underwriters approved us for a loan three times then came back and changed the terms we had agreed to twice. The "lock" that they said we had was not done. Worst Mortgage company experience I've ever had! Brokers are incompetent! Even after telling them and explaining your situation and what you want they can't seem to understand! And proceed as they wish. Stay away they do not know what they are doing and will waste your time and energy! You will walk away depleted, exhausted, and with nothing!! This company didn't listen from the beginning and proceeded to do paperwork and ask for financials that were being processed incorrectly! In the end they did the wrong proceedings for a purchase of a home despite pleas and explanations of why it didn't make sense from the customer. It's a systemic problem. I spoke to more than one person handling the process. (From broker, processors, underwriters, and superiors) Reassurance was given that I, the customer was wrong and they were right. At the end of a drawn out 6 month process nothing went through because it was initially done incorrectly despite customer resistance and inquiries. Don't even think about using this company to purchase a home. RUN AWAY!!!!!! I hope someone reads this and doesn't think, "oh not me", I'm warning you that they do not know what they are doing. I'm a first time buyer and used Contour Mortgage...I was pre-approved and provided everything asked for a few times over and over and because they kept coming back telling me my amount approved changed I had to resubmit bank statements and pay stubs. When the buying amount went from 240 to 190. Contour Mortgage has many locations. The one I dealt with is NY. They are misleading and their customer service is horrible. I wouldn't ever recommend them. I am still having problems with them. The insurance was supposed to be paid at closing and now I have a cancellation notice for lack of payment. After dealing with Bethpage Federal Credit Union and getting assigned to a non-responsive loan officer over there (refer to other review), I was referred to Kim of Quontic Bank in Melville by my original loan officer, who was recently retired from Bank of America. She was not responsive and was always on vacation. When she finally responded she was unable to provide us with what we wanted and the rate wasn't what we wanted. So before putting the entire situation on hold, I called a neighbor who deals in real estate. He referred me to Michael Greenlick of Contour Mortgage Corp. in Garden City, NY. Mike was a man about his business. He couldn't believe we were involved in the refinance process for months. After we briefly spoke he took some of the info I gave him and said let's do this. I can have you closed in less than 30 days! Woah! I sent all the documentation and we indeed went to closing in less than 30 days. No run around, No delay in follow up, no miscommunications. He was HEAVEN SENT! He was very professional, courteous and even held back on us locking in to see if we could get an even lower interest rate. It worked in our favor! Our original rate from 2011 when we purchased our home was 4.75%. In the beginning of this process we were looking at 4% and ended up locking in at 3.625%. Mike was awesome! He was with us every step of the way, even answering text messages late a night. That's the type of dedication and service you want your loan officer to have. My husband and I are very satisfied with the 5 STAR SERVICE we received from Mr Greenlick and Contour Mortgage Corp. and will definitely be sending anyone looking for a new loan or a refi their way. Contour Mortgage completely ruined the excitement of being first time home owner. Loan office Abraham Ohanian violates RESPA rule not once but twice during the process 1) failed to re-issue revised GFE after the rate was locked and the locked rate was higher than the rate stated on the GFE. He locked the rate without my consent. When I called to lock the rate, he informed me the rate was locked two weeks ago and I had given no instruction for him to do so and he had not provided any rate lock confirmation. 2) he added lock rate extension at a cost that consider as changed circumstance, he again failed to re-issue revised GFE. That was one day before closing when I found out he added extension fee on the settlement statement. His response was he was willing to transfer my paperwork to anywhere I want and he can adjourn the closing tomorrow if I'm not willing to accept the fee. A day before closing, when he knew you had no other choice but to go with his bank, that's the work ethic he demonstrated. I tried to escalate the case to Contour Managing Director Adam, after a minute on the phone with him, he put me on hold of 5 minutes and came back saying Abraham went above and beyond to provide good service to me, that Abraham even paid out of pocket for half of the extension fee. That's was the most nonsense I have ever heard. Either it's a big fat lie or someone had made a terrible mistake and try to cover his base. The home insurance policy Abraham quoted for me which he said was a great quote, later on i found out was 2 times more expensive with half of the coverage. His rate was at least 0.125% higher when I compared with other banks. It became clear to me on closing day because they sell the loan to another big bank. I was able to resolve the extra fee at closing because I copied attorneys on the email communications to Abraham, questioned him about his wrongdoing. He never responds any of those emails except i got the response from bank attorney that the fee was removed from the settlement statement. Abraham did not it for me, he did it for himself to fix the problem he created.At the closing when I shared my mortgage experience and being asked who handled my loan, as soon as Abraham's name came up, I was told I am not the only one having negative experience with Abraham. Abraham has demonstrated dishonesty and took advantage of inexperience home buyer to make the best interest of himself. read more

.Avoid using this company for any mortgage needs. They will give you the run around of a life time. Every 2 weeks they'll request the same document over and over again. My accountant would generate the same document biweekly and ended up costing over $1500 with the accountant alone. Very poor communication from the Loan office Pervaiz Iqbal and his supervisor the head of of division Munesh Ragbar. As a loan officer your job is literally communication as you are the middle person between their incompetent underwriter and myself the borrower. They gave me a whirlwind for 8 months. Told me I was eligible for a conventional loan with a very good interest rate. After the 6th month I became frustrated and demanded a final approval or denial and guess what loan officer Pervaiz Iqbal finally admits to me. That he has been working on an FHA loan application. Without any consultation from me his client he was been trying to sell me a product I never wanted. Tried to waste my time and corner me into an FHA loan. They ran 8 hard credit inquiries in 8 months. 1 each month. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!! read more

This is the worst experience in my life dealing with this unprofessional mortgage company! My two companies made very steady over a half mil in the past few years 2010-2014, etc. I asked for a house mortgage in 2015 and was asked to provide 2015 tax return with financial statements. The initial approved amount/ commit was $375k. And then 2 weeks after it became $291k. After they put me thru hell with coming up with $1.2 mil cash to buy a $1.425mil house, they told me it was fully approved for the max amount of $417k. Of course they made a big mistake asking for my 2015 income statement which they should have only asked for 2013 and 2014 tax return. These people had no idea what they are doing. This sad and dumb story happened to me and hopefully won't happen to anyone else. DO NOT use this company! They suck! read more

First off, i want to thank Mr Abraham Ohanian and his great team at Contour for superseding all expectations my wife and i had going through our mortgage process. From day 1 Abe educated me on the entire process and made it as seamless as possible. I always dreamed of owning my own home, and Abe went above and beyond the call of duty to make it a reality. This was the worst experience of my life. After I was in contract Jose Velasquez told me I was good to close and would be clear in a month and would have disclosures shortly I never received them. During this time I was in the hospital with my sick wife and newborn baby for two weeks. Knowing this he tells me disclosures were overnighted so I left them in the hospital and waited all day to find out they weren't sent and never would because they are done electronically . After the sellers were ready to close my lawyer asked for loan commitment since they were getting worried that no appraiser was sent so he had me come there and had me sign them in person, this also would normally be done electronically. The reason he had me sign it in person was so he could add Ryder (conditions) to it that I had to fulfill because there wasn't actually a commitment. When my lawyer asked why he gave her a commitment that wasn't good he responded by saying you lawyers ask for things and he just needed more time. About a week before my close date I called his manager because after assuring me I could tell my landlord I would be out by oct first I could tell something wasn't right. When his manager Hector Passini looked at the file he said it was not in compliance and he was taking over and I had nothing to worry about. After one day he ignored all my calls. The next week another manager Steve Valente took over and said he was working to push it through. I dealt with him for about two weeks in which time he ignored many calls from my realtor, my lawyer and myself. He only answered me once a week asking me for things I already gave Jose. Than finally he tells me he thinks he got it done his processor who used to be an underwriter cleared it and it was going to underwriting in the morning. At this point I was at risk of losing my deposit and he continued to ignore my calls and a week letter I get a denial letter in the mail. After two and a half months of giving me the run around they don't even have the decency to tell me the loan was denied. Luckily earlier in the week I had spoken to the sellers mortgage guy at pnc mortgage and he was able to get me a commitment letter through underwriting in 24 hours on this supposedly complex loan read more

They initially gave me the grand "tour" boating of the existing office space they occupied and still expanding! Cited "stats" that they were the best in long Island! There was no semblance of anything of what they boasted in my horrific experience with them! A) After 2 1/2 months of being put through "hoops" they lost some of my documents requesting that I produce duplicates! B) Sold me false hope that my loan would come through "any day now"! C)They outright lied to me about my eligibility! D) Mid stream they declined my application and when I challenged them that I had ownership of a $810,000 mortgage free property to collateralize the amount of my loan application 3 times over, they had an epiphany, telling me they could certainly can consummate the loan! The complacency and stonewalling continued! Every time I supplied them with information they requested they "raised the bar" requesting more irrelevant documentation.If this is what is referred to as "creative financing" in the industry,it was not evident in this organization!
