Signed up expecting in-person classes with real support throughout the program. Instead, it was someone reading straight off PowerPoint slides -- no real instruction, no assistance as promised at signup. Paid nearly $1,200 for the General B and blueprint reading materials alone. After comparing notes with a friend who went through Contractor Intelligence School, I saw their online portal was far more organized and their materials cost less than half of what I paid here. The office itself also felt run-down, which made me question how established this school actually is. I ended up paying again to redo my education elsewhere. I've been in construction my whole life but when I moved to California and needed a General Contractors license I decided to take no chances. This school did an fantastic job getting me ready for the state exam, the instructors are clear and take questions, everyone I met or spoke to was friendly and helpful. The online sample tests were a great help in studying. I know without this preparation I would not have passed first time as I just did. The Contractors license Crash Course was a joke. I paid almost $300 for a two day test prep/crash course and was given a 8 page handout when I arrived. The instructor proceeded to give a 3 hour power point presentation that did not follow the hand outs nor did he ever make mention of what items in the handout might be on the test. After we came back from lunch on day one, we were all given booklets with test questions and answers as our "study guides" and were told to take as much time as we needed to self study prior to taking the days final exam. Prior to taking the days final, the instructor then told us that, in order to get the guarantee of being able to retake the course if we failed our exam, we must get a score of 85% or better on the final. He went on to explain that the chances of getting 85% were pretty slim if we had not taken the full course. Not one person in that room scored over 80%. The second day I almost didn't go but I figured I already spent the money, I might as well see if I learn anything. NOPE. We all arrived to be given a math test, which I admit was semi informative, but after the test review, we were all given sample test booklets with answers specific to our license and told to open study. I could have gotten the same materials from an online study course without having the drive or the cost. I have taken several crash courses for various state licenses over the years and this one is a complete and total waste of time and money. read more

I researched a lot of schools to help me prep for my C16 Fire Protection contractor license and found that this one had what I needed. My experience has been incredible. I called in and spoke with Mario, he was so helpful! He gave me his cell number for any questions as I told him I needed a week to come up with tuition. He told me about a scholarship program they offered and gave me an application. I filled it out and got chosen to receive a scholarship!! I'll to the moon! This is so helpful as I am a young business woman just starting out my company. I am so grateful for all Mario's help and the school for helping me make my dreams come true. The school was great in taking me through the application process. It made the process so much easier.

Very unprofessional. I took the crash corse here to prepare for my C-10 electrical contractors license, and it was the biggest disaster and disappointment. The instructor was unhappy to be there, just flew through a power point and left no room for questions. After the power point, there was still 4 hours left in class that was for us to "self study!" Instructor was not aprochable during the self study period to ask questions or have comments on the material! He was there to clock hours and help no-one! Do not take this class!!!!! read more

Well to update my review.... The school did call to try to find a resolution to the issue... The only problem is after that whole disaster, I studied everything that they had sent me real well and had to call to see if I had received the proper info.. I went to the Sunday crash course which was a complete waste of time, half of the class had walked out by lunchtime, everybody had the same complaints.. I cut my losses and paid for another school, which I'm extremely happy I did.. Nothing i had studied on CSLS material helped in anyway, absolute zero benefit.. If I had relied on Contractor license schools material I would have never passed my General A... And I did pass, but I can say without a doubt it was not in anyway related to CSLS or their employees. Shop carefully when choosing a school to help..!! read more

I got my license through csls ten years ago. They guaranteed I would pass if I did everything they instructed me to do and I did. Since then whenever I have a business / contracting question I always start by calling csls in San Diego. Juan always has the answers and he is very helpful with any request I've ever had. This school is sooo awesome! I started taking classes in June and Juan Rosario which is the counselor of the school made sure my application for the state was filed properly and David who is one of the teachers is an amazing teacher. He explained very well what the state was looking for in regards to taking your state test. When I began this process (Getting my contractors license) I was lost didn't know much of what I needed to do to get this process started. Visited most of the contracting schools in S. D. I heard a lot of programs & different systems but Juan Rosario of the C.S.L.B. gave me a detailed process that if you fallow it you can't fail. In the beginning I was doubtful but it made a lot of sense & once the precess began Juan Rosario guided me through everything telling what exactly what was going to happen & what I needed to do. I did as he told me from the beginning & yes Juan Rosario as a councelor was great. His guidance was one of a kind, I'm the type of person to ask questions & call when something doesn't seem right & Mr. Rosario was alway there to answer my questions & explain what I needed to do. His direction helped me get through this without any headaches & I'm very thankful to him for the way he coached me because without it I don't think I would've seceded. The man is kind of the Phil Jackson of his field But I recommend the C.S.L.B. as the school to get your contracting license & definitely recommend Juan Rosario as a counselor read more
