As a non nursing medical professional I am not required to have an ACLS cert, but I felt passionately that myself and others that work in hospitals should be aware of how Advanced Life Support works and what general concepts are covered beyond BLS. I will make it a routine to repeat the ACLS class in the years to come because they did such a great job at STAR to put students in simulations that you will actually encounter in healthcare. The class wasn't very structured or thorough. It just seemed very rushed and hasty and a little…read moresloppy. At one point, I tried to ask her a question about whether the breathing part actually delivers enough oxygen, but her answer was for a different question. I felt like she didn't take the time to listen to what I was asking. The CPR training was reasonable, but the First-Aid part was barely addressed. I recently completed a NOLS/WMS Wilderness First-Aid course through REI, and I felt like I learned so much there. And while being in the wilderness may be a significant difference in circumstances, the injuries are not. Blisters, heat-exhaustion, impalements, etc. can all happen anywhere, especially with children. But in the end they were quick to respond to my email, and I got my certification in less than 2 hours, on a holiday weekend no less, so I guess I should be happy with that. I'm just not someone who's looking for an 'easy A'. It's kind of sad, because many of the students that come here are working for schools or the YMCA, and they're supposedly the ones trained to handle your children in emergency situations.

Never had such a negative experience like this one. The staff is really rude and the instructor of the Spanish class made a lot of rude jokes while doing the course. She was mean to a pregnant woman that couldn't understand really well how to do the chest compressions and she started yelling at her to "do it right" in a rude bad way. It was the class in Spanish but my other coworkers have been experiencing the same with the white lady in the front desk. My boss was the one that suggested us to go there but the white lady was even rude to her this time so we're never going back!

I think my most recent BLS course with him was my 3rd consecutive renewal session. He does a great job at explaining all of the important information we learned on the learning modules during the in-person skills training. For…read moreme, it is important to stay up to date on my skills, as well as the updates for performing CPR successfully. A few days ago, I completed my second CPR certification through iMaster CPR, as my first was just over two years ago. iMaster CPR is in a small suite in an office complex in Mission Valley. It is easy to find and has plenty of parking. The classroom itself is not the most comfortable, as it is very small, and a bit on the warm, stuffy side. I had also wished that I had brought a bottle of water with me, as there was none available. George has been the instructor both times. He is a kind and funny person who walks around gently correcting our practice and sets us up for success on the written exam. At the end of class we downloaded a certification from the American Heart Association after we pass the short exam. iMaster CPR does a good job of giving us the required skills for certification in approximately two hours. I will say, for someone such as myself, who doesn't "need" the certification, but wants to carefully learn the skills, I would prefer a longer course with even more hands- on experience. All in all, I am grateful that I was able to take this course to stay up to date with my basic CPR skills. The instructor is good it is conveniently located.

Deb was SUPER clear in her instruction and very straight forward. Then she lets you get hands on experience with the dummies which really helps to solidify what you learn. It was also really nice that we could have her come to our home where everyone is comfortable and doesn't have to travel. I highly recommend hiring Deb, she also has a wonderful personality and makes learning CPR an enjoyable experience, even my Dad who has very limited patience really enjoyed!
