I waited all afternoon for them to fix my gate. I had to wait 4-5 days for an appointment. The day came I took off work, after waiting 4 hours and calling the shop no one showed up. Contacted them via Yelp and received a response quickly. I called to set up an appointment with Shaun for 2 weeks out. We are less than 5 miles from this company but understood that I had to wait. Two weeks later Shaun spent 10 minutes at my house taking measurements and promised to send the estimate within a week. Two weeks later, no response. I call the business and ask about the quote and was told someone would call me back later in the day... No response. 2 months later. No call back. Gate was purchased from another company. read more

Did not have a good experience with them. Repairman shows up and diagnosis is replacement chip in gate arm. Says he can order it and come back to do the repair within a week. I ask him for an estimate that includes the current service call and he says it won't be more than $300 TOTAL for the WHOLE job. OK, so I pay the $110 for the service call. Over 3 weeks later and after numerous calls to their office they finally get back to finish the job. Then I get a bill for $240 which brings my total to $350. Will never use them again. read more

Great experience from start to finish. From the receptionist that booked the service call to the installers and ultimately billing. They were very professional and fair with their pricing. What an amazing and professional company. A few months after our gate was installed, I discovered a problem with our gate not closing properly. A repairman came out the very same day, fixed the problem, and showed me what may have caused the problem. I did my research and quoted out our gate automation job with 5 different companies. Controlled entrances was very competitive on price and happily for me, the most professional (by a long shot). I dealt with Shaun and his follow up and assistance in choosing certain products was helpful. Augustine installed the equipment and was polite, friendly and did a great job. The gate has been automated for 3 days now with no problems but I will update my review if things change. Our neighbor wants to automate their gate and I recommended these guys. Although yelp and other sites are useful in referrals, a personal recommendation is still the best way to go and I was %100 confident in telling my neighbors to use these guys. read more

The service tech was extremely nice and professional, although, he was not familiar with my system and was unable to fix it. The response for having someone to take a look at what we needed was quick (1 day from call to someone being on site); however, the gate quote was never provided in over a week. Emails, calls to the office, leaving messages have resulted in zero response on getting a quote....they may provide decent prices and/or work..but poor followup on getting quotes out. Regarding Controlled Entrances, Valley Center, CA. Our electric gate on our commercial property was disabled and vandalized the night before by the "thieving bad guys." We needed to get it secured and operational immediately, as the next night started the weekend. No other gate-companies could get to us until well into the next week. Controlled entrances took my call, and had a service person on it within a few hours, and the gate was good to go before the end of the day. If that wasn't enough, I found the dialogue with their office to be exceptional, including: a human to talk to when calling, very friendly and personal reception, excellent followups (them calling me and informing me of status and scheduling) clean and understandable invoicing, and confirmation on our transaction before billing credit card. Couldn't be a better run business... I know, I'm a business owner myself, and this is how I treat my customers! read more

Unfortunately, they guessed at several of my Liftmaster gate problems, sometimes fixing what wasn't wrong, and after over $1,200 in repairs, I finally called a better co. I could have bought a whole new system for $2,000! Watch out for their quotes, mine was only two lines, parts... Labor... Not broken out by item or labor to install each item... So I couldn't compare to other companies. My advice, after over a month, 4 or 5 service calls and $1,200... Find someone else. read more

I used the Valley Center Fence subsidiary of Controlled Fences to replace my wooden and cast iron fences with vinyl and aluminum fencing. They did an excellent job of both installing the fences and cleaning up afterwards. read more

I am a very satisfied customer of Controlled Entrances. I found a wooden gate style that I liked on the internet and I contacted Shaun Clark to provide me a quote for that style. He walked me through all of the options and then we finalized the scope of work. Of the three quotes I received, his was not the lowest, but it wasn't much higher than the lowest bidder. I did not purchase the gate on price alone, I interviewed the companies and listened to the people talk and I made a character-judgement. My "hunch" was they were upright and that they would do what they said they would do. My gut feel turned out to be confirmed. The entire process was enjoyable and they always went out of their way to assure that I was comfortable with the project. There were a few minor problems with the gate programming after the gate was installed, and they had their technician on-site fixing the problem the next day. They found the problem, a wire that had been chewed on by a mouse, and repaired it for $100. Now the gate works fine. Another company quoted me $3500 to replace the whole motor assembly, do your own math. read more

I wrote a review of Controlled Entrances here in December, 2011 after they re-installed the electric entry gate at our home. I was very pleased with their service at that time. Unfortunately, I must withdraw and contradict that review now. In the middle of last year our gate was demolished by a car which rolled down our driveway (defective parking break). Controlled Entrances rebuilt the gate and it seemed OK. The company was paid in cash (several thousand dollars) for all work. However, a few weeks after it was installed, the gate started to sag visibly at one end. I had to contact Controlled Entrances 3 times by phone before they came to the house to inspect the gate, but did not contact me concerning the sagging gate. I wrote them a letter concerning this situation. After three weeks passed, they responded by disclaiming any responsibility and referring to an inapplicable provision in the contract. Controlled Entrances continues to refuse to correct its defective work. I must now get another company to fix my gate and pay again. Controlled Entrances did not do a competent, workmanlike job, provide customer service and stand behind its work. read more

Had there been a six-star rating here on Yelp I would have given Controlled Entrances, Inc. a SEVEN STAR rating!! I had my driveway automatic gates not working for the past two months or so. Got the original installer/technician came out TWICE (charged me for the so-called "service') and still could not figure out what was wrong with the gates. Did a quick research on Yelp and found Controlled Entrances and gave them a call. Technician (Agustin) came right on time as promised and only took him 90 minutes to diagnose and repair what was causing the problem. He was very courteous and explained everything. Jobsite was cleaned up spotless afterwards. Long story short....now my gates are opening and closing to the exact spots where I want them to be. This is coming from a total OCD customer....hahaha. Highly recommend them to anyone with automatic gate problems. I would definitely use them again in the future. read more
