Deliberately and knowingly failed to repair my vehicle. Paid them fairly and they refused to correctly fix my vehicle they know straight up it's not repaired. I talked with the manager and owner directly tried to work with them to repair my truck after I paid them. But they flat out refused. Clearly dishonest people that do very poor quality work. If they did this to a local loyal customer they will do it to anyone. They are simply dishonest people with poor workmanship. I'm hearing other problems from local residents so this is warning. Even though this shop was recommended to me it turns out the shop is scared of older vehicles plus they performed more diagnostics without my authorization. I personally replaced the engine, transmission, suspension and steering on my 2001 Oldsmobile 5 years ago and I wanted to see if they could help me with a fuel mileage concern and verify a suspension issue. Well they complained about how old the car was and that should have been the signal for me to come pick the car up, so I'll give them a star because I maybe couldn't read that they didn't want anything to do with my Olds. I feel this experience was contempt for the customer. I authorized them for 1 hour labor to perform diagnostics and report back to me but there was never an official call back instead I called back to offer details about what I was witnessing regarding the fuel mileage. Then I didn't hear from them for 2 days and on 3rd business day they call with a new inflated total adding 2 more hours of labor. So I figure I'd inform others to their shady practices here and let God sort this out. Plus I inspected the one thing they replaced & they did a poor job with it: see pictures. Anyway I looked up how much book labor was on the things they did and it was a total of 2 hours. That was part install & authorised diagnostic. Warning, they're parts markup was over 200% and yet I heard them complain they did not make any money on this job. When they called to tell me about the car I asked how much the new fuel regulator was and Josh verbally said $80 but on the receipt its written as $106.76 so this shop has dishonest practices, they are extremely expensive & you will see in the pics you don't get what you pay for here. 1st picture showing new part incompletely connected to vacuum line. 2nd picture shows how I fixed it & finished the job for them. We live 30+ miles north of Rockwood and had what appeared to be a failure of the transmission in our Ford focus while in that area. We dropped the car off there after hours on a Saturday, (Conway's has envelopes and a drop slot on site) and Monday they started checking out the car. By the end of the day they contacted us to say that the transmission fluid was low, and that adding some fluid fixed the issue. Everyone knows that a transmission problem is an opportunity for an unscrupulous shop to take advantage of a customer, but we are more than satisfied with the service and may be bringing our other cars there for service too. and left read more

I live in the U.P. I was having some car issues that were not getting fixed. (Sorry can't seem to remember what they even were). My father asked me to hold off on what I'm sure would've been yet another costly repair that didn't fix the actual problem and to take it to Conway(he swears by them) when I came down. I took his advice. And damn it to heck if it isn't just one more thing my father can say, "see the old man is always right." :-D Needless to say, they were able to fix the problem. Now whenever I have an issue with my car If I can I bring it to Conways. What most impressed me about the people at Conways, yes they were able to fix an issue that several other places weren't and kept jacking me around making money, yes they are always friendly, and yes they always take the time to explain what is going on with your car in understandable terms, here it is...they'll actually tell you if something isn't worth fixing, explain everything to you,giving you that option of spending(or not) $2000 to just have the engine light off. My daughter had an issue with her car not going over 20 mph. We thought it was the transmission so she was really worried. Conway's got us right in and out the next day. The problem was an ignition coil and the estimate came in significantly under the lowest end of the average price listed on various websites. Best of all he was incredibly friendly and even paternalistic with my 23 year old daughter. That was fantastic because there is nothing she hates more than dealing with car stuff. I am shocked to find any negative review and wonder if it's a competitor. The owner went WAY out of his way to be kind and supportive. Funny, the reason we went to this place is because we recently moved downriver and it was a couple miles away. So far I've been here twice, and am very satisfied with both experiences. Actually, I've been here technically once, with a good experience. Today, I called to describe my problem (electrical) to see if they did that sort of work, and the guy spent almost 10 minutes on the phone with me, looking up service bulletins and gave me advice on what to try to fix it. I'm not sure its going to work, but if not, he said bring it in and he'll figure it out. It's refreshing to talk to someone who seemed more interested in helping you solve your problem than turning a quick buck with a simple fix. I've had the misfortune of being here once. Very rude, we'll leave you standing there mid conversation to take care of minor things, answer phone, door, etc. Overpriced, mediocre service bordering on negligent. Brought my car in to have timing chain replaced, was very specific. They had the car for two days before calling me to tell me the timing chain had broken and that they wanted more money to find the extent of the damage. I paid the crooks their "diagnostics fee"and had my car towed to a reputable shop to finish the repairs. The engine was shot at this point but I was told the same day and had the car back in 2 with a new motor. read more

My nephew's car was acting up so he took his car to this place since it is fairly close to where he lives. He was told that the part alone to fix it would be over a thousand dollars and that they weren't sure if that would fix it entirely. He is of course upset since this is his work vehicle and he is recently employed after a 5 month layoff. Getting another car isn't going to be easy. He tells them he is going to salvage it. I have him tow it to my mechanic just for a second look. It ends up that he there was an electrical issue and the car was in bad need of an oil change. That's all that was wrong! It cost him $150 to be back on the road. Conway charged him $70 just to look at his car. I don't know if they were trying to scam him or if they are so incompetent that they can't properly diagnose the problem. These people took his money and were going to let him junk his car. I moved to Gibraltar with my wife 4 years ago. I generally like to do most of my own repair work whenever possible. There are times however when the job either necessitates special tools that I do not own or is going to take more time that I am able to devote. Due to this, I am always on the lookout for a dependable, reasonable, repair shop near by. I had driven past this Conway's everyday on my way to work and when an issue came up with my truck ( time chain cover gasket ), I decided to give them a shot. Not only did they get it done quick but they did an AMAZING job! I have since taken multiple vehicles to Conway's for various reasons and they have always done a great job for me. The work is solid and they are one of the THE MOST reasonable in pricing I have ever seen. They NEVER try to gouge me.
