On 4/19 I made the POOR decision to trust this urgent care with my 3 WEEK OLD.. My baby presented a rash and a low body temperature so we made the decision that he needed to be seen. We arrived and were taken back to have my babies vitals taken. When we got in the room there was 2 nurses, one asking questions about the baby and one taking vitals. The nurse asking questions left and the nurse taking my poor babies rectal temperature proceeded to insert the ENTIRE probe thermometer (NOT an at home thermometer) in my child all the way to the base. At the time I was in absolute shock but being that i'm a first time mother I didn't question her, I just made a face to my mother and the babies father who thank god we're in the room with me. The nurse then immediately walked out after taking the temperature. I then started asking questions, trying to comprehend what I had just watched and experienced. I knew in my gut and was very concerned that what had just happened was not appropriate for a newborn. The doctor then comes in and asks about my babies low body temperature and asks how we were taking the temperature at home. Before I answered him I said "well let me ask you a question.. how far should the thermometer be insert-" and he quickly cut me off. He then states that the nurse had "already told him". My mom had then asked him "well what did she tell you?". He rudely follows that with saying that the nurse already told him that I made a "crazy face" at her while she was taking his temperature. I then said "I sure did, because she inserted the entire thermometer probe up my child?"... then he laughs says hold on and walks out of the room. He came back with a AT HOME thermometer and tried to say that we should only inserting an inch ect. Every time what the nurse did got brought up he changed the subject and dismissed our concerns. He proceeded to check out my child's rash and then says he needs to speak with the ER dr. He goes and makes a call and when he came back he asked questions about who my pediatrician was.. rolled his eyes.. asked about certain vaccines.. rolled his eyes and his entire demeanor changed. He was extremely unprofessional, arrogant, rude and now asking me (mother) questions that felt unrelated and uncomfortable. Once he heard who my pediatrician was adamant we go to the ER.. prior to this conversation he made it seem non emergent and optional. At this point i'm extremely upset and just want what is best for my baby, so if that is going to the ER thats absolutely fine. He goes to get the order form and as he is outside our door he tells multiple people in a group "She said you stuck the thermometer 5 inches up his butt!" and they all started laughing hysterically. He then said "Then she said you picked up the baby and spun him around the room" they then all laughed again.. as if the situation, harm, bullying, and unprofessionalism towards a concerned mother and a defenseless 3 week old baby was the funniest thing they have ever heard. Sickening. Dr Atkins then came back in with a huge smile on his face and that's when I told him that we can hear everything he just said and I questioned what is funny about this situation. He LAUGHED and said he just had to tell them what was going on. Dr Atkins made JOKES about a situation that I voiced I was concerned about complications that put my baby's health at risk. At this point I am crying. I take the order form and with a smile on his face he says "yall have a good night". When we left the room there was not a nurse in sight. Insanely dismissive behavior and traumatizing all around. I feel so bad for any kids lives in the hands of these people. Once we arrived at the ER, I was told that rectal temperatures in newborns are typically taken at about 1/2 inch to 1 inch, which increased my concern about how my baby's temperature had been taken earlier. We've had nothing but excellent medical care at Cooks Urgent Care! Dr. Radimecky has seen my kids afterhours for the last 4 years and has been nothing but kind, efficient, and provided excellent care to both of my boys. We've had stitches, staples, allergic reactions, illnesses, you name it. They've even sent us over to Cooks ER when they felt we'd receive more advanced care there beyond their capabilities. Billing has never been an issue and online check-in has been efficient and easy. If there is ever a super urgent issue (laceration to the head), I have called ahead and they are ready and waiting for us - moving ahead of the line due to urgency). We have tried other area Urgent Cares and will never go anywhere but Cooks for our kids. read more

Took my kid to Cook. They saw I had pretty solid insurance so they ran every test possible, ran the bill up to $16,000, then took it out of insurance. Still on the hook for $2700 but I feel like that is quite a bit for not being able to find what was wrong with her. read more

5 stars for drs and 2 stars for their new appointment system. Urgent care is Urgent care... I shouldn't have to need an appointment for something that is urgent. If my child has fever or an urgent issue and the pediatrician is closed I don't need to make an appointment. My husband took my daughter in with fever and she was clearly in pain since she was screaming crying. He say for a couple hours and was told to make an appointment next time. He took her home for comfort and came back a couple hours later for an appointment. No one plans urgent care... take this new process away because your site has NEVER had it. read more

Avoid at all costs. I have been to Cook Children's Urgent Care Prosper a half dozen times in 2023. Each time I have been disappointed with the quality of care and office experience. In 12/16 I brought my daughter in for a stomach ache and was concerned about a possible intestinal blockage. They diagnosed it as mild constipation. The next morning, 12/17, my daughter was throwing up and have diarrhea. I went back to Urgent Care and they tested for Strep. I was billed as a level 3 visit on 12/16 and a level 4 visit on 12/17 which was an additional $100 than the level 3 visit. They did not perform a proper evaluation on 12/16 and appear to bill however they note. There is a reason this practice has a 1.8 star rating. read more

I would avoid this place at all cost. We took my son for a visit on a Saturday at 4pm for a COVID test. He had a low grade fever so we were being cautious. This place charged us for an ER visit and on top of that charged us $255 for a COVID test. I tried to protest the bill the lady said their prices are their prices. I am only giving one star because going lower is not an option. The absolute worst "healthcare" facility I've ever seen. I go into the "urgent care" with my 4yo experiencing sharp pains in her abdomen, only to be told that they only take reservations. How the hell does a person schedule an urgent or emergent event? The staff is supremely rude. They say there's a medical professions shortage and I see why. I don't know how any leader would support this type of service. Literally, 5 "nurses" sitting behind the counter turning away sick kids in pain. Fuck your Children's Hospital. They allow people to schedule services that they should be getting at their pcp, so they can be lazy and not perform the services they are paid to do. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. My daughter had a really bad allergic reaction to being out in the sun. She was sunburned, her entire body was swollen, her eyes were swollen shut. We had already done the aloe vera and everything we could find on the internet. It was a Sunday evening, so I took her up to Cooks Children's Urgent Care in Prosper because I was very worried about her. The "doctor" did absolutely nothing. Everything she told us to do, we had already tried, and had found on the internet. I was charged almost $300 for this visit. The next day, I had to take my daughter to our primary care physician. He actually examined her and prescribed steroids for her. She was better by that afternoon. I wish I had never taken her to Cooks Childrens Urgent Care in Prosper. The staff and doctors are great. The big issue is when it comes to the bill. We went to the ER bc my daughter had hit her head on the tile and I wanted a doctor to look at it. The doctor looked, said it didn't look too bad and we sat in the room for an hour to make sure her behavior didn't change. That was IT! I gave them my insurance, I paid my $200 ER copay and left. Later I get a bill for $650!!! AFTER insurance! I called and told them under the ACA that CPT code should only cost $175. They say they are a private hospital and so they can charge whatever they want. OUTRAGEOUS!!! We will NEVER go again because the cost is astronomical for no reason. read more

Scheduled a appointment, and was seen almost immediately. My son was given medicine and put under observation for two hours and he was much better by the time we left the urgent care already and the doctor gave us peace of mind. I take both of my kids here as needed and have not had any issues with getting them the help they needed. read more

We have been a part of the cook childrens network for 15 years, they always give us the best care and I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else. We have been to the prosper urgent care multiple times since they opened and have never had a bad experience. They treat us with kindness and respect every time and we will continue to go when needed for urgent care needs. read more

We've taken my children here on two separate occasions. Both times, the doctor on staff told us they could not treat them and to bring them to the ER instead. Each time the ER doctor at Children's and at Texas Health said there is no reason Cook's shouldn't have treated the kids. Not only will we not go back, I will be telling everyone I know to avoid this place. read more

This location used a billing form that forces all insurance payments to go to deductible leaving high balance for patients. They insist all Urgent Care's do this but I went to the one right next to them and they used the billing form that only requires my co-pay. Example of money before patients. The bad reviews are for a reason. They billed me $300 just to walk into the office to confirm my suspicion of hand foot and mouth. Not even three months after the visit they sent it to collections. We weren't even in the office for 10 minutes. I called to ask what I was charged for because that's double what anyone else charges. What a rip off. The lady at the front even told me that was the office visit and anything else extra they would have to do would be billed. I called and spoke to Jessica and she talked to me as if I was stupid and didn't even want to listen. Then I said hell and she said she couldn't talk to me if I was going to use that language. My son has had an ongoing cough for 5 days... congestion, drainage, and now it's in his chest. We thought the smart thing to do would be to take him an urgent care because he likely got this infection from me. Sum and substance... save your money folks, the other review is spot on- this place and it's practice is a waste of money. My guy- 12 year old was looking for some relief and the PA just said it has to run its course. She tersely told me they don't prescribe antibiotics or anything else for children-- (last week for same thing I was given an antibiotic and prednisone and it cleared me up). Here's the thing- if you go here they will test for Covid and whats the solution? Probably same with everything else... let it run its course... I have enjoyed our kids pediatrician Dr Baker who is with Cooks down the road in little elm, but not impressed Cooks urgent. This "urgent care" made us wait 45 mins before being seen (2 other kids ahead of us) and basically did nothing but test for Covid and strep. Essentially there is really no options for kids with respiratory bugs and clearly cooks children is non intervention beyond-- take a couple of Tylenol. I have had better experience with my kids at the new carenow in prosper, try there instead. read more

I despise this place. They are not urgent. My son was gushing blood out of his eyebrow and they were going to make me wait till the next available appointment which was an hour away! I went somewhere else that day. I've come in multiple times for the same mucus problem that he has over the years and they always deny me medication. I will literally see his general doctor within a day or two bc he ALWAYS gets worse and needs the antibiotics. Even an inhaler would of helped tonight. I don't feel heard here. I feel blown off. This is the place that made me hold my son down while the nurse did a COVID test and made my sons nose bleed , like running blood. Both the nurse and doctor at the time told me he was fine like I was over reacting. I'm sorry I didn't know that was a normal part of swabbing! I HATTTTTTTEEE THIS PLACE. I've never left a review before, but I feel like I have to after this experience. My daughter and I came here yesterday and Kevin Chacko, MD was her doctor. My daughter was so sick and it took everything in me to be strong for her. Dr. Kevin Chacko and the team of nurses, even the front desk staff, were everything my daughter and I needed. He spent time with us being thorough, he was gentle and I could feel his genuine concern for my daughter. Honestly, it was so refreshing feeling heard and cared for by him and the nurses. My daughter who typically NEVER stops talking or bouncing off the walls, wasn't herself, she wasn't even moving. He ran several tests, gave me great advice, told me what to watch out for. I watched him listen to my daughters chest, lungs and heart and he took his time doing so, he didn't make me feel rushed out of the room to see the next patient. Even though there were several other sick kids, and the wait was long, once we saw staff, he was FULLY present with me and my daughter. We must be patient with them because when you receive this level of care, it is WELL WORTH the wait. Overall, one of the best doctor visits I have ever been apart of. Because trust me, we have had several and I'd say the majority of them make me so mad because no one is listening. I could go on and on about how much I liked Dr. Kevin Chacko and his team. I was ready to cry several times seeing my daughter so fragile, but I left there with a step by step plan and comfort knowing that I could trust him. Thank you Cook Children.
