Quick Bites, Big Flavor, Inner-City Vibes (3/5 Stars) If you're looking for fast, flavorful, no-frills eats, The Cookout gets the job done--especially when you're hungry and want something hearty that won't break the bank. First Impressions & Ambiance Located right in the heart of the city, The Cookout has that inner-city, casual charm. It's not spotless, but it's clean enough to grab a meal and enjoy it without second-guessing the space. Service & Staff The staff was helpful enough--not overly chatty or hands-on, but they got the job done, and that's really all you need in a spot like this. Food & Drinks This is where The Cookout shines. I grabbed a Cherry Wine, a Walking Taco, some cheese bites, and anything listed as "Cookout Style" is pretty much a win. It's greasy, cheesy, salty, and exactly what you want it to be--comfort food with no apologies. Wait Time & Efficiency Super fast service--my order was ready in under 2 minutes. That kind of speed means you can even swing by to break your fast or curb a late-night craving. Menu Variety & Dietary Options Let's be honest: if you're on a diet, this is not your destination. The menu is stacked with indulgent options, and that's the whole point. You come here for flavor, not macros. Price & Value Excellent value for the price. You get generous portions, and the taste delivers for what you're paying. It's affordable indulgence, plain and simple. Pros & Cons Pros: Fast service, big flavors, and great value. Cons: The neon lights could use some fixing, and they should probably clean a bit more than just the tables. A bit of upkeep would go a long way. Final Thoughts & Rating Overall, The Cookout met my expectations. It's not fancy, it's not spotless, but it delivers exactly what it promises: quick, greasy, feel-good food at a fair price. It's a solid 3-star spot, and I'd come back when the craving hits.

Came here after a concert on a Thursday around midnight and the drive through line was long because the inside dining area was closed. The line moved slow. My friend and I shared the jr combo with corndogs, onion rings, cheese bites, and coke float. We added another coke float. It was under $10 for all of it. The corndogs and coke float were really good. The onion rings needed to be cooked longer. The cheese bites were alright. We didn't receive any sauces with our food :( Probably will come back to try other things on the menu.

I've been to Cook Outs a few times, and it's absolutely panic attack inducing every single time trying to order off their complete disaster of a menu. On top of that, the kid taking my order barely spoke louder than a whisper, so I had no clue what the hell he was saying half the time I was anxiety ridden, trying to order. After finally getting my order done, I was just ready to get out of there. I got my food, and went home. It was only after I got home that I realize that my order was wrong. My burger was missing the tomato, even though it was clearly on the receipt that I was supposed to have "everything" on it. On top of that, the nuggets I got as one of my side was the saddest three dry little nugs I've ever seen. The bummer is the patties in the burger itself were actually cooked better than most fast food spots. All the negatives make it hard for me to recommend, though... That said, their huge milkshake selection is pretty incredible.

We loved it here!! One of a few places open late at night so we went to check it out. Quick service and great variety on the menu. Also - they offer 45 different flavors of milkshakes!! I had the chocolate chip cheesecake one and it was super good!! They have burgers, chicken, hot dogs, etc. and their sides are so good!! I got the two side meal. The burger was good and definitely add the cheese!! I picked cheese curds and Cajun fries as my sides. I'd say the sides were the best part! Very reasonably priced as well.

This was my favorite cook out location.. I order here once a week if not more... I always get a big double burger cheese bites and hush puppies with a coke This time I just took a bite of my big double and got a piece of cardboard in it

Best milkshakes ever!!!! So many flavors. I always get the chocolate chip cheesecake, Oreo & walnut shake.

Service was mediocre. Good quick food where you pay for what you get. However my very simple order of a hamburger with lettuce, mustard, ketchup, and grilled onions (which are available per request) was very wrong. The staff members helped me decide the best burger for my wants and we decided on a small burger(single patty). When i opened my burger it was two patties, three slices of cheese(we agreed on no cheese) and no onions. To be frank i was disappointed but i got what i payed for.

It's fast food. However it's exactly what I need after a long night of partying and pretending that my knees and back are younger than they actually are. The food is reasonably priced, service is quick and friendly and the the food IS GOOD (for the soul, not necessarily the body). I don't really eat fast food because I find it flavorless but cookout is anything but. The trays are not quite what I usually think of when I think of a platter, they're more of a mix and match but I guess thats ok...let the people come up with whatever strange combos they want. I love the wonderfully thick milkshakes. There are a multitude of flavors but let's be real, half if them taste the same. I also wish they'd clean the tables more often at this location.

Cherry chocolate chip shake. Spoon required! Enjoy!

Only had the shakes but they were nice and thick and creamy! Had the chocolate chip cherry shake...Mmmm....

I originally ordered one chili slaw dog and after inhaling it, I mean eating it, I ordered a second. (I had will power to leave after the 2nd one or I would closed the place down). The place is quaint and full of localness and charm. Be warned, there isn't a cloth napkin within 20 miles of the place. There are several rolls of paper towels and tear off what you need. My fellow Yelpers tipped me off to the kick the chili has. And kick it is. It is a slow burn that sneaks up on you. Fortunately, I had a smear of chilled slaw on top of it. The dog is a remarkable color red and the bun is steamed and it is wonderful! I ordered a side of onion rings- they were fried to order and while tasty, not the star of the show. My beverage was served in a bucket, 32 oz styrofoam cup with crunchy ice cubes. Again, wonderful. There was a steady pace of person ordering at the counter and the phone rang for pick up orders. And, as the sign says- Cash Only. The prices will not break your bank.

However, I also love great food prepared well, this is where Brandi and I diverge a bit. Located just north of Marietta square, it can be easy to miss, just watch for the railroad tracks that cross Church St. Parking as mentioned by others can be very tight, and you enter the lot from the right of the restaurant and circle around. My visit was at the beginning of the lunch rush, so parking was tight, but I could still find a space. Inside, Brandi's drips with history - the real kind that tells you that not much has changed in 20, 30, maybe 40 years. But it's not in that clapped out way, well worn like that favorite pair of shoes you've resoled three times and refuse to get rid of because they fit right and are so comfortable. Seat yourself at one of the handful of 4 top tables, or, at the 15 or so lunch counter stools. No menu is provided other than the one over the register - and remember, it's cash only. The menu is simple - hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, onion rings, soda, and sweet or unsweet tea. Grabbed my seat at the bar, and Brandi herself helped me. She, along with every single person working there were as kind and helpful as could be - a lost art for what Brandi's is, a quick serve place to grab an unpretentious and inexpensive lunch. Everything comes with white onions, mustard, and their chili - you can add cheese, or, ask for any of those items to be left off if you prefer. My move is to always try things the way the chef intended first, then modify next time around, so I went for the dressed up dog, and also a cheeseburger with the onions, mustard, and chili. Food was served quickly, maybe within five minutes of ordering with the four folks behind the counter working in that way where you know they've been doing this for a hot minute - everything and everyone in their place. Lots of regulars known by the staff - it's say the average age during this weekday lunch was pushing 60. This is where things start to slip a little at least for me. Brandi has kept things the same, including what ingredients they use. As such the hot dog is a red variety (hello red dye #3), and is a standard size dog (not a jumbo or foot long). White onions were crisp, the cole slaw a bit creamier that I'd personally prefer (but I found it worked really well like that on the dog), and then the chili. I was warned, as everyone is, that it is "very spicy". For my palette, I didn't find it to be particularly spicy although it had some zip that snuck up on you. I'm sure the cole slaw kept a little of that heat at bay. The hot dog itself, to me, just didn't have a lot of flavor which I guess is ok if the point is the toppings. It also was essentially room temperature which I found quite surprising given it was lunch rush, not sure if that was an anomaly or normal. But hey, for a couple of bucks, literally, I wasn't expecting a gourmet Snake River Farms Wagyu monster hot dog. This is where the price vs. quality index comes in to play. Now, the burger on the other hand, honestly, it was a mistake. I'd somehow expected them to have been griddle cooked and therefore have that well seasoned griddle char that so many old school flat tops in the hands of pros can deliver. This was a grey, not crusty, small patty that almost seemed steamed to me - if that's your jam, awesome, just isn't mine. As with the dog, almost none of the flavor of the ground beef came through - it was really overwhelmed by the chili. The hamburger bun was also kinda hard which I don't know if that's by design, or an indicator of buns that have been sitting around a while. Last up - fries. Reviews I'd read talked about them being crispy and well seasoned. Mine came out lukewarm and kinda flabby, and no hint of crispness anywhere. I might have ordered wrong as the onion rings others had looked good. Not much on the seasoning side either. So - all in, it had that very old school locals place with a lot of history to it vibe, and was nearly packed during lunch which is great to see these days with food and labor costs what they are for restaurants. On the food side, I'd say for the (very low) price, I'd go back and I know now what I'm in for. My tip off should have been the regulars sitting around me downing 2, 3, and even 4 dogs - no burgers I could see. And the staff - just honest, really friendly folks, working their tail off to serve up a piece of Marietta history. Had the dog come out hot, the fries been crispy vs. soggy, that would definitely bump them up a star. The burger, I'll chalk that up to my not reading the room....

Just a cleaner, more polished version of what is already there. Keep the character, keep the history, keep the nostalgia. Just make it feel cleaner and a little more cared for. The food itself was pretty underwhelming. Nothing was especially BAD, but very little was memorable either. For a place with this much history and reputation, I expected more. The service was ok...just like any other fast food restaurant these days. We really don't expect great service from the front counter workers anymore and Skip's was no different. It's in a food hall so where it's at you have free parking. It's a really nice building and it looks like it was a food hall building that won some awards for aesthetics so it's very nice to look at. You'll come in and there's nobody to greet you, but there are people walking around and people behind the stalls and you have plenty of options to pick from. And it's kind of a multi-room situation because one part of the establishment has a lot of the food hall stalls and the other part of it has a couple stalls, some rooms you can probably reserve, and a very large bar. They have plenty of specials on some signage screens so if you go in just be aware of that. They have events like happy hour and music being played on a live situation and some other thing so just keep that in mind. Anyway, specifically about the hot dog situation, I ordered and got a beeper when it was ready. I got it and it was okay. It seemed like it was more chilly than it was dog. And because I'm from Michigan, I'm very critical on what a Coney dog should be like. Do you want the hot dog to be covered but not drowned in the chili. So not that it's bad but as you can guess this got pretty messy LOL. I thought it was tasty. It's not like home but it was pretty good. When I try other hot dogs from there, I would actually. I definitely would. It was a pretty good experience because I got the wok and see what other places were there so that was nice. But I had to do the Coney because it reminded me a little bit of home LOL.
