Went very recently for cheesesteaks. Not so good this time and way off from last time. Way too many peppers. More peppers than beef. And a bit greasy too. Hope it was only a bad night and not the new standard. Everything was ok.

Solid fancy hotdog place. I was surprised they also had hamburgers too. I had the jumbo chili dog with slaw. I was surprised the chili was mostly beans, my preference would have been all meat or little beans, but nonetheless it was tasty! The slaw was also good. My husband had a bratwurst with sauerkraut, he said it was just okay but he did like the fries. We wanted to taste another so we each had a bite of the polish sausage too and that was good/interesting. Beware this is not your cheap hotdog place. We spent $30 on two combos and one extra hotdog. FYI they close kinda early, 8pm on Saturday! Parking, private lot + drive through.

    Chili cheese dog, to go.

We've eaten here several times and usually the hotdogs are good. Today they were just ok. We went through the drive thru and ordered 3 chili cheese dogs, 1 Chicago dog, and fries. The dogs were wrapped loosely in aluminum foil and then placed vertically into the brown paper bag. When we got home, all of the toppings had slide down to the bottom half of the hotdog. Had they been placed horizontally in the bag, the toppings probably would've stayed in place. Today the buns seemed stale. The fries good and thicker than you'll find at most other fast food restaurants. The drive thru service is usually moves pretty fast. We've been inside a couple of times and the dining area is always clean. The staff is always friendly.

I've been here several times. Just been a minute since my last visit. The hotdogs are usually good. I got a Chicago dog and a Polish Sausage and a corn dog this time. The hotdogs and sausage were good. Fries are sold separately if you get a combo.. I only my food on 9/15/2025. I ordered my food through Uber Eats.

I haven't been here since I was a wee 16 year old, so was excited to come on back to give it a try nine years later. My friends and I hopped into line excited for some good dogs and decent company, and left the line $60 broker. $60 bucks, you ask? For hot dogs? Tragically, yes. When they said one hot dog was $8 I thought that it had to be a foot long dog. Spoiler: it's not. Maybe 5" if we're being generous. OK, so in that case this must be like the most spectacular dog you've ever had, right? Also no. The dog was pretty average honestly-- maybe just a step or two above QT or RaceTrac. You can tell 75% of the business of this place are rich young people who are trying to absorb some semblance of culture by going to a "local" joint like Skips. The other 25% are old-timers who are only there because of inertia. My friends and I still joke about it to this day, and don't plan on going back anytime soon.

We ordered towards closing. I got the Philly cheesesteaks and the order came out fast. My friend ordered a corn dog and fries. We sat at the diner booth and left at closing. Staff were nice.

Doesn't look like anything special when you see this place but the food was well priced, made fresh, very tasty, and the people were nice!

3.5 ~ I had been wanting to try Skip's for four years now. My hubby and I originally thought we might end up in Avondale Estates upon moving to GA, so it would've been convenient. We ended up not moving to that area, and I forgot about this place for a little bit. Time passed and I had tried Baby Al's a few times - which I'm a big fan of and which is much closer to me. A few months ago, my mom and I decided to order a delivery lunch from here. We got the Italian beef dipped with cheese, a tamale, onion rings, and a pizza puff to share. Everything arrived hot and fresh even with the distance. The Italian beef was good and flavorful. It was not as big as the ones I get from Baby Al's though. The pizza puff was delicious. I know it's just a microwaveable good, but I hadn't had one in forever, so it was nice for the nostalgic factor. The onion rings were perfectly breaded and cooked but had no seasoning on them. Finally, the tamale was not at all what I expected. It was very small and not really impressive at all. It's not far off from the canned kind if you've ever tried that, just a step up on freshness. Overall, it was a decent meal. They do not seem to have mild sauce as I requested some if available, but none was given. I would get the Italian beef again and pizza puff if I'm in the area, but do not recommend the onion rings or tamales. The Chicago dogs on the site look good, but once again, I usually go to Baby Al's for my Chicago food fix. I still need to try Fingerz and Rickettes one day as I've heard good things about both places as well. Having lived in Chicago for 2.5 years, so far Baby Al's is more on point with what I'm used to, but this isn't a bad spot by any means. I would go with the Chicago dogs from what I've seen or Italian beef if you're in the neighborhood.

I was driving down Avondale Rd leaving the post office and was ready for lunch and noticed a sign at Skips that said Veggie hot dog combo. I had no idea they offered veggie hot dogs and decided it was the perfect fast meal. Truly hot dogs or hamburgers are good because of the toppings and I made a mistake of only ordering mustard on my veggie dog. It was okay but nothing to rave about. The bun was actually pretty good, very good quality. The fries were seasoned well and the root beer was good. Overall it was an okay meal for lunch. If I go back I would definitely add more toppings. The veggie sausage combo was $13.99. I could definitely save money buying my own veggie sausage, bun and toppings and having a meal at home but sometimes you're in a rush and don't' have time to cook.   I heard good things about Skips and I'm sure I would love it if I ate meat.   Service was also great, very friendly! I love that you have a drive through option, very convenient.

I think they make cheesesteaks but I am not for sure about Veggie hot dogs. You have to check with them to see.

I had the Carolina Slaw Dog and by the time I took one bite, the entire soggy bun had fallen apart and I had cole slaw and mustard down the front of my shirt. I went with the Combo ($8) and the fries were so cold. I probably should have know they would be cold as she gave me my order less than 5 minutes after I placed it and there was no way those were going to be hot fresh fries. I also had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Dog ($7). The Jerk Sauce was cold as if someone had just taken it out the refrigerator and squirted it on the dog. I threw the entire thing away after one bite. There was three young ladies working the afternoon I went in, and they were way more interested in chatting amongst themselves than they were in paying attention to the three paying customers they had in the restaurant. I mean I know it doesn't take much energy to sell hot dogs, but from the time I went in to the time I left, they spent the biggest majority of the time comparing vacation plans and talking about the cleaning lady that had popped up to view the property. Save yourself $20 and go buy hot dogs from the grocery store and prepare them at home.
