We don't have any good wing places in Tampa so we were excited to get some American Deli. We were sadly disappointed with our experience. The fries didn't have any seasoning at all and the wings had a very funny taste. We also realized that some were overcooked while others were undercooked. The drink we ordered was pure sugar and we were unable to drink it. So needless to say we wasted $34 dollars. Yes, 16 wings with fries and a drink was $34 dollars. The space is very small and felt cramped, with visible dirt and clutter that made it hard to relax or enjoy the meal. Tables and floors did not look like they had been cleaned properly, and the overall atmosphere came across as neglected rather than casual. Customer service was another major issue. The cashier was very unprofessional, acting as if taking the order was an inconvenience instead of a basic part of the job. There was no greeting, no eye contact, and questions about the menu were answered with attitude instead of help. I think just the novelty of people in North Decatur having access to a "safe" American Deli is what appeals here because these aren't top 25 wings in Atlanta. Virtually any gas station would give you better wings than this. I got honey hot with Lemon pepper sprinkles which is my "go-to" and I couldn't get through 4 wings and I was HUNGRY. The fries are not bad at all, especially with the seasoning. But everything else was below average, both in quality and in flavor. 5 stars for a wing spot????? Yup, because I love good wings. There are PLENTY of American Deli's in the metro Atlanta area, but trust me they are NOT the same. This location is the exception. They always answer when I call to place an order, the food is delicious and the customer service is good. I'm usually able to grab a parking spot on the street, but free parking is available in the nearby garage as well. They have plenty of wings flavors to choose from and other selections such as fried rice and cheesesteaks. I have never taken the time to leave review about a restaurant, but my experience is note-worthy enough to submit this. In March, I contracted food poisoning from the Downtown Decatur location. Up until this encounter, I agreed with all of the accolades that customers have given this AD location. They are courteous, clean and the food was a favorite "date night" spot for my son and me. After contracting a food born bacteria from the location, I let them know ( for the protection of others) and they provided their insurance info. Needless to say, after filing the claim, sending documentation and talking to the owners, nothing has been done to rectify the 1.5K plus hospital bill. What's my point? Be careful about consuming food from this establishment. They do not take responsibility when they are in the wrong. Mistakes happen and things go left, but the mark of great customer service and integrity is being responsible enough to fix the problem. read more
