Another great experience with Chef Karen! She is a great teacher and guides you through not just what you are doing but other tips that you can use at home when trying to step up your cooking game. Love that they take all of the bad parts of having to cook (measuring ingredients) out of it and you just add and stir til they tell you. The food is delicious! Definitely a fun and enjoyable date night or maybe a night out with friends!

For Christmas, we received a gift certificate to a cooking class at Cooking at the Cottage. Tonight was our date night. Ingredients for our quiche, cobbler, and entree were on the table, labeled by course. The chef guided us through the process of prepping the cobbler and later baked it for us. Same with the quiche. We prepped, mixed and plated it and the chef baked it while we were invited to spend time in the gift shop. The gift shop was filled with fun stuff, and surprisingly, reasonably priced. After our recess, we returned to the demonstration and made our sauce for the beef dish. I was a bit disappointed we didn't get to cook the steak, but time was an issue. The chef had plated steak, mashed potatoes, and a medley of carrots and Brussels sprouts. We just topped it with our gravy. Still, a lot of fun. And a very good meal. Our biggest issue? Understanding the instructions over a very poor PA system. Maybe it was a senior moment.

This was fun. We really did enjoy it. We learned a couple things & are glad we did it. However, we didn't think the quality of the food or the portions were fair with the price.

This culinary adventure is an experience unlike any others. From hands on cooking classes to demonstrations this experience is amazing. With visiting chefs from all over Kentucky, you'll enjoy some amazing dishes wile making new friends. After you enjoy a great dinner, be sure to stop in the store and pick up the tools for taking your kitchen to the next level!

Hot Brown stuffed tomato, and mashed potatoes with benedictine.

Very disappointed! I was looking forward to this cooking demonstration. It was titled First Saturday in May. The menu is the reason I chose this day. Benedictine is a favorite of mine. The chef had the recipes written for us in a pamphlet. Instead of using a block of cream cheese she switched it up with whipped cream cheese. She served it on cheap Kroger brand white bread. We got a half a slice of bread with a small bit of Benedictine. It had a salty taste to it. I think she took a short cut by using store brand whipped cream cheese. It would have been so much better on a nice cracker, or pumpernickel bread. She made some mango chutney with meatballs. The meatballs were flavorless and full of uncooked rice. I would have been embarrassed to serve them. Our whole table was shocked by the small size of the meatballs. Then she made baby back ribs with jezebel sauce. We got to try one bone. The flavor of the sauce was nothing special. My rib was a piece of fat. Next was her version of Hot Brown stuffed Roma tomatoes. They were stuffed with Pepperidge farm bread crumbs and there was supposed to be bacon in it but she must have left it at home. The last thing on the menu was mashed potatoes with the benedictine mixed in them. I do not think mashed potatoes and cucumbers go together. That was a big thumbs down! The demonstration was not worth $70. Everyone around me was complaining about the small portions of the food that we sampled. I honestly left feeling very disappointed, and underwhelmed with the presentation and taste of the food. I'm not sure how the lady got the title of Queen of Flavors. I gave it two stars because I had fun with my friend and the two strangers that we met at the table.

I took my 12 year old niece and 9 year old daughter to this class as my daughter lives out of state and visits once a year. They were super excited for this cooking class. It's a 2 hour class and $60 per kid which is very reasonable. The Mexican cuisine they learned to cook was delicious and they enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend this class for kids and would do it again... the owner is kind and cares greatly about the classes!

Valentines Date Night "Cooking at the Cottage"

This place is amazing. We went to "Cooking at the Cottage" for A Valentines Date Night. Which is a cooking class date. This is where we get to cook three courses. This place is awesome. If you're looking for something new and different. I'd recommend trying this out. The price for this particular night was $145 for two people and it's more than worth it. Atmosphere When you walk in you'll see a big screen/tv that mirrors and gives you shots of what the chef is doing at any particular time which I thought was pretty cool. The people there were friendly. How it works is that there were tables set up around the chefs table. So that no matter where you're sitting you won't have a bad place in the house. The chef had a mic so we could hear him loud and clear. Food that we prepared 1st Dish was Lobster MAC and Cheese 2nd Dish was Salmon en Papillote with Vegetables served with Rice and Pilaf 3rd Dish was Cherries Jubilee with Ice Cream Those dishes were amazing. But my absolute favorite was the 1st dish. I would've been completely ok with the 1st dish if it was just one big pile for us. This was so so good. I recommend and couple or anyone to at least try this out once. I get that it's a little pricey but it's about the experience. Awesome place!!!

Cooking with cast iron was an amazing class! I wasn't sure what to expect before arriving- I actually thought I might have to cook, but was very relieved to find we got to watch someone else cook! Don't get me wrong, I love cooking... just not on Mondays haha! Lelia and her two assistants did a great job with the food! We had a potato flatbread to start, followed by chicken thighs, veggies, and mushrooms. I was pleased to find we were served wine with our food. Another awesome bonus! The wonderful cooking class was finished with an apple dessert! After the class I was able to get 10% a great cast iron dish! I would highly recommend coming here! I'll be back!

What a night!?!?! I purchased the Introduction to Sushi for my sweet and saucey. Sushi is something we love to stuff our pie holes with and making it has been a long time dream of ours. Sushi parties have been run by Andrews father and we wanted to host our own and make our own! We paid $70 each, which was extremely reasonable for the amount of items and knowledge retained! Also, whoever told you making sushi is difficult only knew how to make cereal. It was NOT hard. Yes, you have to pay attention to detail and focus on the task at hand. But isn't that anything in life??? We created beautiful maki and nori! The staff was wonderful and were extremely accommodating and encouraging!! We can't wait to go back for the second course of sushi!!!

Classes sell out fast so you MUST make reservations and be prepared it's gonna be booked out months away. I'm ts well worth the wait! We chose the Cooking with Rum by Chef Andrew. The menus are published on their website along with the recipes. Our menu that night was Shrimp and pineapple wrapped in Bacon, entree was Jerk Chicken with rice and dessert was Hummingbird Cake. Chef Andrew is an excellent instructor and his assistants have everything down to a science. You'll be surprised how organized and fluid everything goes. It's truly amazing. This is a hands-on experience which makes it even more exciting. The experience is top notch. I highly recommend. The location is easy to get to. There is street parking if you can find it; but, there's also $5 public parking right across the street which is nice. They have everything you need right there including lockers for your stuff. COUPLE NOTES.... If you get cold like I do.......BRiNG A JACKET!!!!! My hands were turning white I was so cold. There is a tip container that is mentioned at the end of the class along with a scan pic if you would like to leave a tip so heads up on that. Thank you Cooking @ Millie's and Chef Andrew. Patty and I had a wonderful time and I will try my best to see you again! Bottle of wine is included with tickets. So enjoy!

We were very pleased to have been seated at the bar, I do not think it would have been as an immersive an experience if we had we been at a table where you could not see the chef as he prepared our 4 course meal. Upon arrival you are seated and given a cocktail menu (not included in the cost of the meal). My hubby had a very strong bourbon and water and I had a cream, liquor, vodka drink that was very tasty, similar to a White Russian. At around 6 pm chef Todd began by telling us his history and passion for cooking inspired by his grandmothers as he prepared our appetizers. I am a bit fuzzy on the details of the ingredients of all the dishes since I fell later that evening, broke my hip and shoulder and spent the next 6 days in the hospital but I'll do my best, keeping in mind all 4 courses were expectional. Appetizer was a baked pear with goat cheese and a crostini with cranberry goat cheese, walnuts and honey drizzle. Second course was a bean soup and corn bread. Main course was pot roast, carrots, potatoes and mushrooms. Mine was super tender and very flavorful. Mu husbands portion had a lot of fat but what he could eat was tasty. And for dessert he served bananas foster bread pudding. We were given a sample of the bread pudding upon arrival to whet our appetites and it sure did. The whole experience was first class; food, service, cocktails, interaction with the chef, owner and wait staff, atmosphere was just plain fun, entertaining and satisfying. We were there about 2 hours. Street parking, comfortable setting and a unique dinning experience. I highly recommend for a special occasion. They offer different menus, prepared by different chefs and other special events. Check the webpage for availability as they sell out and reservations are required, paid in advance.
