Our teacher was fantastic -- informative, patient, encouraging, and always so helpful. We learned essential cooking techniques, kitchen basics, and so many delicious recipes that I'll continue making at home. The class itself was equally special because we had such a great group of students and truly enjoyed learning and cooking together each week. I will genuinely miss this class and look forward to taking more classes at LA Cooking School in the future. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their cooking skills in a fun and welcoming environment!

Five days later and no contact from Pam. I was so excited to take my mister to their Father's Day class. We're empty nesters and this was meant to be a special treat for both of us. He's not big on cooking classes but the posted menu was appealing and I promised to do all the heavy lifting. Ribeye Steak -- thought we'd learn some new techniques to elevate our steak prep game. Mexican Street Corn Dip and Homemade Tater Tots -- summer corn is a family favorite and the thought of making homemade tater tots was intriguing. Smash Burger Sliders -- wanted to learn to consistently nail that crispy exterior. Inexplicably, we were paired with another pair -- a single dad with an 8 yo kid. Neither the mister nor I wanted this but we didn't want to make a scene or hurt anyone's feelings. We didn't even realize we were paired with them until the chef pointed out that our mise en place tray was setup for four. Why?? 1. The Mexican Street Corn Dip which I think was supposed to be an appetizer, was completely omitted. However, we did make a grilled corn salad as part of the meal. There was no appetizer served when we arrived. 2. Instead of homemade tater tots we made potato wedges. 3. The team we were paired with was lovely. However the class was well beyond their skill level. So instead of taking on the bulk of the work for 2 people, I did the bulk of the prep for 4 people. The course description says there may be seasonal substitutions but these substitutions utilized the same core ingredients. This was more work than I anticipated and left me feeling a bit overwhelmed and behind schedule. This threw the timing off and my mister enjoyed his steak alone while I was still standing at a hot stove prepping food for 4 people. Not the fun afternoon of "us" time I'd envisioned. Overall this was a subpar experience in so many areas that mattered to us. Left me personally disappointed and apologizing to my mister for the poor planning and execution. Could have spent the same amount of money without the hour+ drive and had a better experience.

My wife and I recently took a class here called "Date Night: Spanish Tapas." The class taught us…read morehow to make several Spanish dishes including Spinach and Manchego Croquetas, Pan Con Tomate and Jamon Serrano, Tortilla Espagnola, and Pork Belly with Membrino Glaze. I'll be completely honest. I was not excited about taking this class. I hate cooking food as much as I love eating it. But the wife dragged me out here anyway. So what's my verdict? As my rating indicates, I was completely wrong about this class. It was a fun experience from start to finish. Chef May did a fantastic job walking us through how to prepare each dish before releasing us to our own individual stations, easing my concern that I would screw things up. When we needed any assistance, she was right there to jump in and provide support. I would be amiss if I didn't mention the best part of the class which is eating the food we made. Every dish was delicious. I especially loved the Pan Con Tomate and Jamon Serrano, and Pork Belly with Membrino Glaze. I would definitely recommend taking a class here. If they could make a guy like me who hates cooking enjoy the experience, they must be doing something right. We'll be back very soon for an encore. We're signed up for the Pan Pizza class. Looking forward to it!

My partner and I took this cooking class as a date experience. While our chef was truly wonderful,…read morekind, welcoming, and very professional, the overall class didn't meet our expectations for the price. The class structure made it hard to learn honestly. instead of cooking step by step together, all instructions were given at once and we were left to cook independently, which was overwhelming and difficult to remember details like which ingredients to add/when, how long to cook things for and proper technique, especially for beginners. A power outage that required sharing burners added to the disorganization. We were also surprised to be required to share ingredients (including raw meat) with someone we didn't know across from us, which felt awkward for an expensive date experience. There was no clear wrap up at the end, and people began eating and leaving without much direction. Again our chef was great, and we enjoyed the stories and history behind the dishes, but overall the cooking lesson experience didn't match the cost or the hands on learning we were expecting.

This year our company contacted LA Food Works and did a team building event. LA Food Works…read morespecializes in group cooking classes and the entire event lasted about 3~4 hours. Rose is the event organizer and everyone met at her house at 10 AM. After a warm reception and a quick introduction, we quickly split into different teams and I was assigned to the Creamy White Bean and Fennel Casserole station. The staff was very helpful and I just simply followed staff's instructions. Everyone pretty much finished the cooking by 12 PM and we were able to enjoy fruits of our labor! *** Menu *** * Roasted Beef Tenderloin and Chicken Stuffed with Mixed Herb Pesto * Arugula Salad with Candied Pine Nuts and Parmesan Dressing * Roasted Broccoli with Pumpkin Seeds, Pecorino and Gremolata * Creamy White Bean and Fennel Casserole * Lemon Souffle Cake with Macerated Mixed Berries Personally I liked arugula salad the best and my least favorite dish was lemon souffle cake (too sweet). Rose even emailed a digital copy of the recipe to everyone the following week! Overall it was a great team building experience and we also did a murder mystery right after our lunch (different company - not related to LA Food Works).

Offering us water and an olive tapenade appetizer while we waited for the class to begin. They start out the class with some knife skills as we chopped the ingredients for the pizza sauce and pizza toppings. Great quick lesson on easy way to chop onions without crying among other things. We made the dough for the pizza and the pizza sauce from scratch! We each got to make our own individual pizza, and had the option to grill or bake the pizza. There was a variety of toppings which we had chopped up and delicious mozzarella cheese. The pizzas tasted delicious! They also made a nutella and strawberry dessert pizza for us to share at the end of the class. They e-mail you the recipes the next day so you can try cooking on your own. Don't know if I'll ever take the time to make this again by myself, but overall a great time with a friend and a great dinner!

I said I want to talk to someone for a minute they said no we are busy and slammed the door. Is this somewhere I want to spend close to a grand and bloom a parry at??? Absolutely not!

Went here for a work team building event and it was perfect from beginning to end…read more Chef Alex, our instructor for the day, was personable, funny, knowledgeable, and entertaining. It was very obvious that Chef Alex had conducted multiple corporate team building events as well as being a skilled/seasoned chef. We had 22 people for our team building event and there was plenty of space for us to each have our own cooking stations (teams of two) and there was ample seating for all of us to enjoy the fruits of our labors after the cooking was completed. We prepared thai food for our event and, WOW, was it amazing. I mean (literally), this was the best thai food that I'd ever had and this is coming from someone who's wife says "you eat way too much thai food!" The very tasty food is a testament to how well run this place is because we are just a bunch of accountants but we also apparently have an inner self that knows how to cook thai food. Overall, this place is clean, fun, there is ample parking and I would highly recommend. If this place wasn't so far from me, I'd definitely go back on a date night with my wife.

Chef Alex was absolutely amazing. He was incredibly accommodating, especially with our very last-minute booking request (less than a week's notice). Throughout the entire event, he was patient, kind, and engaging with the boys. He took the time to guide them at each cooking station, clearly explaining what to do and then letting them take over and experience it hands-on. He created a really fun, relaxed environment where the kids felt confident and involved. We all trusted the process, and the food turned out fantastic--but even more than that, the boys had a blast doing it. It was the perfect mix of learning, teamwork, and fun. I would highly recommend this experience for any team-building event, youth sports team, or even private parties like birthdays. It's interactive, memorable, and really well-run. Thank you again, Chef Alex, for an amazing afternoon! -- San Marino Little League All-Star Team
