I have been bringing my family here for years, and it had always been an enjoyable experience until today, when an extremely rude old man began to yell at us for taking too many apples!!! Seriously!? You pay $30 for a bag that you bring with you to pick the apples in the field. Upon our return from the orchard, we retrieved a bag from our car to split the apples between the two families. Well, this man came out from the store and began to yell at us. Telling us we should be ashamed of ourselves for taking so many apples!! Really!? We used to pay by the pound, and we would be happy to do that. They changed the process. Are you supposed to pay $30 for a bag of apples and not fill it? Its's a shame, but there's certainly many options around that would be happy to get our business. read more

Great place for apple picking! My favorites are the Macoun and Mutsu (aka Crispin) apples. There are also other fruits, such as pears and plums that are available. Plenty of pumpkins to choose for fall and Halloween decoration! The small bakery offers pies, cookies, jams, jellies, and other treats. Getting apple cider is a must! Definitely a place to go while the picking is good! read more

I've been going to this orchard for over 30 years. it's a family run business and I've always found them to be helpful, friendly and kind. They have been forced to increase the price of their apples but it's not because they're trying to make a killing. The weather hasn't been ideal for growing apples aside from having a hurricane a couple of years ago which damaged a lot of their trees. Thanks Cooks Orchard. You have and always will be our favorite orchard. Not to mention the BEST cider around. read more

I happened to witness a rude employee screaming at a family splitting the apples they just picked, stating they "took too many apples". Clearly they had two different vehicles. It all happened right front of the entrance where the cash register was. That said I would never go there again. People supporting a local business and trying to have a nice family time. What a shame. read more

I've been here over a hundred times over 6 years and used to like it, but they have one very weird and rude employee. Twice now I've been there during normal open hours, parked by their barn as usual, gone in and talked to the person at the desk and gotten a bag for U-pick, asked specifically if it's OK to check the lot they have across the street where the peaches, plums, and pears are. Then when I'm out picking, this other employee comes up and tells me I'm not supposed to be there. I explain that I asked and the person working the desk who told me I could, and he doesn't care. After the first time this happened, I was super clear about exactly where I'd be going the second time, and it happened again. I don't understand why a u-pick fruit place during normal open hours has parts of their fields that you aren't allowed to be in, that aren't signed or marked off in any way. And even asking the employee working their register if it's OK to go there, he says "yes." Then I'm spoken to rudely by another employee telling me I can't be there. They need to get their act together. For me, I'm never going back, it's too much stress. I'm going places that are nice to their customers. read more

Review for the Apple picking only. Nice orchard that was not overly busy. Tractor ride takes you out into the orchard. Basic varities of New England apples- macs, macouns, cortland, empire and a few others. They also had pears which was a nice touch. Price was very reasonable (2020 season- $25 half bushel) read more

Great quintessential New England apple orchard. I've been coming here every year for as long as I can remember & even came up when I was living in NY. It is a pretty small orchard but they have my two favorite apple pie making apples Cortlands & Macintosh! I think they have about 4 varieties. You can take the old school tractor to the proper picking place or you can walk. I prefer the tractor, it just adds to the experience. Then you're left to wonder & pick your apples. Cook's is a family owned farm & they are all very nice. Usually on weekends you can hang out & listen to the Cooks play live music & say hi to the animals. They have recently added more kid friendly activities like a hay bale maze. I always get a slice of apple pie which is made right there. It's tasty but no one makes it like mom. They sell whole pies, apple dumplings, apple cider & picked for you apples. When you pick your own apples you fill your 1/2 bushel bag & it cost $18 I think. That's plenty of apples for snacks & tons of pies. You can also buy your pumpkins here but I recommend taking a drive into Monson to Westview Creamery to pick your own. If you are looking for an orchard to pick you own apples this is a great one. Make sure you wear your sneakers especially if it's rained recently & drive carefully, the driveway & parking lot are bumpy dirt &/or muddy. read more

I've been going to Cooks for years with my daughter. She now brings her husband to the yearly trip up to Brimfield and hopefully one day, her children. Cooks provides a wholesome family experience that we look forward to year after year. My daughter attended her first year in college in NY during 9/11. When we finally connected and I could see she was OK, we took a trip up to Cooks to connect with what is normal and good. The trip out to the orchard by tractor is fun, picking some great fruit is wondrful and their apple dumplings are just a terrific way to end the experience. Thank you Cooks family. read more

stumbled upon this place today, and found that they were having an apple festival. there was a band playing, a petting zoo, pony rides, hay bale maze. lots of stuff for kids. all very cool, but i aint got no spawn, foo'. my other half tried some apple pie, and was fairly unimpressed for someone that sucks down apple pie at every available opportunity. you also had to board a tractor in order to pick your own apples. one filled bag of pommes will set you back eighteen bucks. i dont know, i figure that there are better places to go, if the apples are indeed your focus. read more

I felt compelled after reading the only reveiw. Cook's Orchard is a family owned orchard in a very quaint New England town. It's a rare find due to most orchards being very crowded and lacking the New England Charm. The ladies at Cook's Orchard know how to make incredible pies and dumplings putting most orchards to shame. The crust is perfect. As far as the atmosphere, the orchard is very well maintained and reasonably priced. For a fun afternoon during apple season I would highly recommend trying Cook's Orchard whether it's apple fest or not. The apple fest is nice every year and again showcases the more rural appeal instead of crowed tourist events. read more

Met up with cousins from CT (we live in Boston) and had a great time! We could either walk to the apple trees or take the tractor which the kids loved. The pies made there were amazing as were the apples we picked. Maze was a hit with the kids. Would love to go back next year! read more

On Oct 14 went to get an apple pie and 2 @ 1/2 gallons of cider the cider was no where near the quality of 3 weeks ago. And the pie was the worst I have ever gotten there is was mushy and over cooked. I do not believe either was worth the near hour drive to purchase. read more
