Update on Cooks review I left multiple messages for weeks finally a women called back and asked me to explain my problem. I told her my cabinets are cracking, chipping and bubbling. Chris call a few days later and said he would be happy to refund my $2150.00 but that he stands by his work and will fix all the issues. I received a certified letter to call and make an appointment which was set 7/31/21. Chris asked Sherwin Williams to look at the cabinets. They found bubbles, chips, splits and one area where the paint is cracked and he got the paint off with his fingernail. He said some of the cabinets were not adequatley prepped and needed to be sanded down. He also stated products that should be used in order to fix the issues. Cooks showed up with touch up paint and a drop cloth but none of the products Sherwin Williams said was needed to be used to fix the problems; so being unprepared I asked them to leave. I have txted and called Chris and the office multiple times. No response. Finally a woman called and listened to my story, once again was told they have great service but I insisted I wanted a full refund. I still have not heard from Cooks, I thought Chris would stand by his word and give the refund if the cabinets were not right. Pros: The paint job on our house looks nice from afar and Chris courteously agreed to waive $500.00 off the job for additional replacement wood charges that were not discovered during the quote process. Cons: We were dismayed at the result of how the house looks up close post-scraping. There is deep scarring to the boards in several places and there's an overall uneven look that makes it look like paint has run down the side of the house in certain spots. Unfortunately, these spots are predominantly right in the front of the house where people can see them. Chris told us that he estimated the house had been painted at least ten times prior to this and the scarring now seen all over our house is the result of the scraping process and that short of grinding each board down, this was always going to be the end result. He also indicated he told my husband about this during the quote process. My husband was surprised by this and said that the first he had heard of such scarring was after the job was done and Brandon came by to explain it to us when we called to ask if the house was done (given how our house looked, we thought it might have just been the first coat and they were waiting to apply the second coat. This was not the case). We have several pictures of our house pre-painting (we took pictures to see how the paint samples would look on the house). There is no scarring on the wood in these pictures. It's just hard to understand how after numerous paint jobs, this is the first time the house now has this scarred and gouged look. I think the implication here was that prior painters never scraped during the prior paint jobs. I'm not a paint expert by any means, but this just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. This is our opinion, but we felt this should have been communicated better up front so we weren't so surprised on the back end on this scarring issue. As much as we'd like to give Chris and his team a five-star review here, we cannot get over what the house looks like up close. read more

The team worked with us over a period of time to establish pricing and time frames for the removal of old wallpaper and painting 3 large sized rooms, a full stairway, second floor hallway along with painting of wainscoting, doors and trim on all rooms. The process was super easy and the team finished ahead of schedule. The results were amazing. The rooms have a completely different feel and look incredible.
