The Good / Budget Gap / Reality / etc The Good: The facility at Grayhawk is top-tier (outdoor range, Pro V1s), and my fitter, Justin, was friendly and knowledgeable. The data gathered on the driver and irons was solid. I'm TPI certified (but not in the golf industry), so I came in as an informed golfer with clear goals and a clear budget. The Budget Gap: I set a firm $6,000 all-in budget. I explicitly told them that if they couldn't hit that number, I would use my TPI discount to order directly from Titleist. I was assured this wouldn't be an issue. The Reality: Despite knowing my budget relied on my Titleist preference, there was no noticeable effort to keep me in OEM-friendly shaft options. Which wasn't a concern during the fitting because I was assured budget was not an issue. We moved to specific aftermarket profiles and, while they performed well, the Cool Clubs markups and build fees pushed the final quote to over $7,500 (excluding taxes and a putter)--missing the budget by thousands. The Catch: When I tried to execute my "Plan B" (ordering direct), I hit a wall. The specific shaft profiles I was fitted for were not available on the OEM custom portal or major retailers like TGW. I was left with a spec sheet I couldn't easily use, despite being clear up front that this was required if they couldn't hit my budget. The "Standalone Service" Issue: Cool Clubs states the $500 fitting fee is for a standalone premium service. If that's the model, the service needs to be outstanding, regardless of whether you purchase the clubs from them. Mine wasn't. * We never hit a single wedge shot during a "full bag" fitting. * I specifically chose them for MOI matching, but we never measured MOI. * I said I wasn't bought into SST Puring, yet it was still included in the quote anyway. The Aftermath: Post-fitting, I emailed asking for specific length/lie data to resolve the ordering issues. My questions were ignored, and I was told to just "order from us." I escalated to management regarding the lack of follow-up support and received no response at all. The Verdict: After realizing the Titleist custom portal didn't stock the specific shafts I needed, I searched for a builder that actually carried the "Cool Clubs spec" components. I eventually found that Fairway Jockey in Scottsdale had the exact inventory to match the build sheet 1-to-1. I was able to order the identical set through them for about $2,000 less (minus SST Puring). They simply filled the order as requested without trying to upsell me. * Go here if: You have an essentially unlimited budget and having the "Cool Clubs" sticker on your shaft matters more to you than price. or you value the outdoor fitting and have a trusted club builder. * Avoid if: You expect the $500 fee to guarantee actionable, OEM-usable data. You may leave with a "custom tailored" spec sheet that you cannot actually buy on your own without doing a massive amount of cross-referencing between Cool Clubs' "static" measurements and the varying "standard +/-" measurements used by retailers. read more

Went to Cool Clubs for a fitting. I've never been fitted for clubs before. I was apprehensive going in knowing they fit tour pros and other great golfers and as a 10 handicap I was just hoping to put some good swings on the ball. Justin couldn't have made me more comfortable. He was professional and clearly very knowledgeable about both the game and his equipment. And man what a difference swinging a club that's "tuned" to your swing makes vs my previous literally off the rack set of Taylor Mades. Justin set me up with shafts more appropriate to my swing and some irons and woods that didn't just feel so much better than my old clubs, but made my ball flight so much more consistent. Their stuff isn't cheap, although there are options, but I had an ear to ear smile every time I hit a new club he recommended. What a difference. I can't wait to play with my new tools. If only they could fix my swing as easily as they fixed my bag. For a fully custom golf fitting experience, I couldn't imagine having a better experience. Honestly, go elsewhere. If you know the manufacturer of the clubs you like, go to that company's fittings. They will treat you as a valued customer, unlike Cool Clubs. Cool Clubs' overly pretentious fitter, Justin, will show up to your fitting 30 minutes late without an apology or explanation, will smell of fresh alcohol, and will go out of his way to belittle your present clubs. It even appeared the other fitters had little respect for him. The high cost of the fitting at Cool Clubs is not worth the unprofessional experience. From personal and friends' experiences, I highly suggest Titleist, Callaway, and PXG fittings. read more

John Singletary did my fitting and despite my 17 hdcp he treated me like I was on tour. Even gave me some things to work on to get my scores down. You know five stars when you see! If you follow my check ins you can quickly tell I'm into food and golf. I frequent this establishment because they have helped me get the correct equipment. I've received three fittings here: driver, iron and putter and I'm a better golfer for it. I had 85 gram shafts in my clubs and I could not tell where the club head was during the swing. After the fitting I am moving up to 110 gram shafts and now I am more consistent with shots taken. I've really dropped my scores from 140 to 110 to 97. I am really beginning to understand the game and have more fun because of it. The place is clean, the professionalism and customer service is second to none and the price is steep. But the investment was definitely worth it for me. If you are buying golf clubs without a proper fitting, you are spitting in the wind and you know what happens when you spit in the wind? We recently had my (adult) son fit for a full set of clubs. He loves to play and this was a special gift for major accomplishments. We worked with Jason Lulloff. I can't say how impressed both my son and I were with Jason's professionalism and his knowledge. He worked for hours with my son analyzing video's of his swing making sure just the right combination were ordered. Cool Clubs, Irvine CA. A satellite operation of the Scottsdale AZ HQ. I had a driver fitting with Chris at the Cool Clubs location in Irvine CA., this week on April 5th. Cools Clubs came highly recommended from a world class fitter, Tour Experience Golf (TXG), Canada. Check out TXG on Youtube and you'll easily see why they are world class. I'm extremely satisfied with my driver fitting. It was a fun, informative experience, well worth the money. I picked up 20 yards and am able to hit it much straighter. If you've watched many fitting sessions on Youtube, you may have seen some examples of fitters guessing or just asking clients to "try this" again and again and then asking "which one do you like best?" Just a trial and error approach. This was absolutely NOT the case with Chris at Cool Clubs. Chris was very methodical, using technology, measurements and his in-depth knowledge of equipment (club head and shaft combinations) to recommend what worked best with my swing. I'm very happy with the results and very much looking forward to the arrival of my new driver. Next I plan to go through the top of my bag with Chris and choose the best woods and hybrids. An experience of a lifetime. I've been playing golf for 25 years. High school golf, D1 golf, and a few years as a professional. Take my advise, save your money on lessons and get fit by these guys. First and foremost these guys spend the time and make the effort to fit you with what works best for you. They ask you what you would like to see out of your ball flight and they make it happen. During the fitting I hit drivers, 3 woods, hybrids, 6 irons and 60 degree wedges. Between those 5 different clubs we tested approximately 100 different variations of those clubs between head and shaft variations. We worked with each club until I found something that I got the absolute most out of. I have been searching for a miracle swing thought for so many years and like many golfers have never found it (probably because it doesn't exist). I wish I had gone to see these guys a long time ago. Played my first round with my new set and shot 65. I'm excited to see how well I can play after a few weeks of playing with my new clubs. Thank you Cool Clubs Irvine.
