This mini golf course is just beautiful. It appears to me that it was a converted motel pool; which, is pure genius! The flora is gorgeous, but remember these are habitats for bees and things, so be mindful. The boys working the counter were friendly and informative. They advised that there were two course options, a difficult course and a less difficult one. We opted for the less difficult and found it to be pretty challenging! All in all it was such a fun time even on a super hot day. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and working on my technique. read more

Talk about a blast from the past, this is the vintage mini golf you are looking for. Had a blast here for about $13 per person. Nice bar but with limited beer selections. No Modelo or Budweiser or bud light or anything you normally have. But if you are a hipster then they will have something you can drink. Food looked good but didn't try. Some things seemed a little bit in disrepair, but there's a certain charm in that not replicated by 21st century mini golf establishments. Cool crest mini golf was a great place to visit for family-friendly fun. Pricing isn't bad at $10 for adults and $8 for kids. The course itself looks like it has seen better days but overall well taken care of. Some of the plants and foliage add to the challenge as they've overgrown over the fairway areas. Be careful though, as there were alot of rambunctious kids running around and practicing their parkour skills plus flying balls (gotta yell "Fore!" There are two different 18-hole courses to choose from - both are well-maintained and easy to maneuver. There are also limited concessions if you need a drink or snack. Live music is available on some nights - check the site directly to determine what nights they have music. As far as the golfing goes, this is a classic venue with simple mini-golf obstacles. Each of the courses has fun holes; all are do-able and mildly challenging. This is a great place for a family outing, a fun date or even a team-building excursion. It can get a little warm if you come during the summer but there is plenty of shade and benches at every hole. The price is also affordable which makes it even more attractive. Honestly this place is the epitome of a San Antonio family owned business. Everyone here is a class act and so accommodating to their patrons. The staff kindly asked my dad to move his car because he was blocking a gate, and after he did provided us with a free game. Cool Crest has retro grace, from the mid-century architecture to the tropical plantings. On an early spring visit, the course was fragrant with lemon blossoms; we're looking forward to coming back in the summer and playing under the shade of banana plants. This is genuinely one of the most beautiful and unique places you could go to play mini golf. It's not overly cheesy like most mini golf places are. It's got lush greenery all around the course making it look like a natural oasis, the trees provide some shade from the mid day sun. They have two courses one older that is harder and more fun for the adults and one that's easier and has more of a typical mini golf set up that's easier for the kids to play. The staff is super helpful in deciding which course to pick if you've never visited before. 10/10 recommend making a visit. read more

Going to Cool Crest with my daughter reminded me of the days when I was a kid and Cool Crest was the one place in town to miniature golf. I'm sure my parents considered it a bit of a drive, but I thought it was worth it. And it's still worth it. The courses are for the most part, still the same as they were decades ago. The only thing I await is when all the palms on the property grow to the size they once were. I can remember the huge amount of shade there once was. But they are on their way back. There's a good amount of color around the courses, which was nice to see. There's a small area for birthday parties near the counter and there was a party going on when we got there. Nice to see it isn't all about electronic games to celebrate a birthday. And you know what? I think the course is even more challenging to me now as an adult. Guess I'll have to get back there often to get back in the swing of things. read more

This place is by far the best putt-putt I've been to. Plus it's a certified historical site. I've been all over the US and due to the simplicity and at the same time challenge of putt-putt, have taken part in many courses. The price is about $8/person and there's 2 courses to choose from. All holes are very well lit and the greens are super clean. One of the things I really enjoyed was the throw back decor and architecture as well as all water structures working. Usually those are dry when you go to putt-putt courses. The couple that runs this location are super nice. It was fun to chat with them a bit before and after playing. Def going to make my way back here more in the future. read more

Cool Crest? Where else can you go to play mini-golf and have music that leads you into the Lindy Hop? I grew up less than a block away from Cool Crest, so I became very familiar with both the front and back course. On some weekends, I used to play both courses if I had enough dollars and change. That was many moons ago in my school-age years. Fast forward to today, Cool Crest has been reopened for the Jefferson and surrounding community. Each fairway is just as I remembered - even the challenging holes. You can tell the putters and a few of the balls have seen more pristine days, yet they do the job. The course does have some hazards you'll want to be aware of beforehand: 1) falling debris from nature that clogs the pipes and steals your balls; 2) mosquitos, so bring repellent; 3) skunks, don't go near them. Get the manager/owner, and he'll redirect the fellow with the leaf blower (no skunks were harmed, and no humans were sprayed); 4) user errors - you probably see or feel the ball before someone yells FORE!
