In the past we have used Angie's List to find reliable contractors, plumbers and other services, and now Yelp has taken over that job. This is the first time we have used Yelp to find a contractor, and have no regrets.
Found Carlos' company Twinco on Yelp, and he had a great number of positive reviews, so we thought, why not, let's give them a try.
We've lived in our home for over 17 years and never once tuned up or otherwise had to service the central air conditioning system... not once! Until a couple of weeks ago when the A/C water overflow pipe began to drip water... not a good sign!
We visited Twinco's website as a matter of routine and contacted Carlos via email first, then made an appointment for him to perform a $49 multipoint A/C tune-up. He showed up earlier than our scheduled appointment time... we appreciate punctuality. He performed and tune up, and was surprised that we had not done one before in the 17 years we had been using the system.
He climbed up into the attic and made a full assessment of the overflow pipe issue, and explained that the builder had lay the evaporation coil on a chunk of 2x4 stud inside the back-up drain pan which rotted away over the years and clogged the main drain and partially the overflow drain. He recommended an action plan and would come back to perform that work a few days later.
What impressed me the most about Carlos was the care he took to not dirty up the floor or even the attic access, he put on cloth booties over his shoes, laid down a heavy cloth on the floor were he placed the ladder, and used a couple of clean rags to push the attic access open, while avoiding leaving nasty hand prints... now that is care! After he left, there was nothing to clean up, he left no trace of his presence, very impressive.
During his second visit, he resolved our drainage issue, and also installed a safety switch that turns off the unit if the drain pan becomes clogged again; a tertiary safety to avoid flooding and water damage, very clever and inexpensive. We had also purchased a Yelp coupon that was available, and Carlos honored it, giving us a bit of a discount on the whole job, a very nice touch.
We appreciated Carlos' honesty and willingness to explain the issues and answer any questions we had. We will be calling Carlos once a year to perform the A/C tune up for us, to keep our unit in tip top shape as it goes beyond 17 years of use. We highly recommend Carlos' Twinco to anyone looking for a highly professional, courteous, experienced and honest A/C contractor. Awesome!!!
