What a great experience at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant in Oak Park! This was my first time visiting, and I honestly can't believe I hadn't been before. We came on a Monday evening for a wine tasting, and from beginning to end, the experience was 10/10. Our server, Sparkle, was truly one of the highlights of the evening. She was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and made the entire wine-tasting experience so much fun. Great customer service can completely shape an experience, and Sparkle definitely delivered. We laughed, enjoyed some amazing wine, and simply had a great time. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's a beautiful space with a relaxed yet elevated feel, making it perfect for a wine night, dinner, girls' night, date night, or even a special event. I could absolutely see myself hosting an event here one day. I will definitely be back whenever I'm in the Oak Park area, and hopefully Sparkle will be there! Such a fun Monday night and an overall wonderful first experience at Cooper's Hawk. read more

I find it hard to believe it's gotten worse here, but it has. The husband wanted to go here for some reason so I relented. From the slow zombie walk to our table to the end, it was a nightmare. Coopers Hawk is just Applebee's with their own wine. The food is horrible. The drinks are all over-priced and yet people line up like this is something great. We got potstickers to start and they were the only decent thing. Chicken Marseille was gross, country pasta was dried out and the prime rib sandwich was the worst - meat so dried out it was like gyro and inedible. For this kind of price, I expect better. And the pacing was also terrible. 49 minutes between app and main. Why can't places time things better? And clearly most of our meals sat under a lamp for an extended time. With the 9 million staff here, why??? Half the staff follow each other around and are not working. Someone needs to retrain the lot. read more

I will begin, I love downtown Oak Park. I have walked passed Cooper's Hawk on a previous occasion, looked nice on the outside. Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to go in with family for a belated birthday dinner. Immediately greeted as walked in, our server Niccoli was behind amazing, very attentive and friendly. The egg rolls and calamari are amazing, the blue cheese and crispy onion burger is one the best I have had. The wine pairings were excellent and I am thinking of becoming a member. Came here on Thanksgiving day for lunch with one of my friends and we had a relatively good time! The reason for the 3 stars was because of the food. I usually really enjoy Cooper's Hawk's food from their regular menu but since it was Thanksgiving, we tried the 3-course Thanksgiving meal. We started off with the butternut squash soup, which oddly had a sweet cinnamon taste to it. It was alright but I couldn't finish the whole thing. The main dish was better! The turkey was really moist and the mashed potatoes were buttery. Unfortunately, the stuffing was inedible in my opinion. The texture was really off and I did not like how it tasted. The vegetables and cranberry sauce were fine. We ended with a pumpkin cheesecake which was also alright. It honestly reminded me of the butternut squash soup but in cheesecake form. Overall, I don't think it was worth it. I wish they had more options for the starting course and dessert. Although, the service was really great. Our server was very personable and attentive whenever we needed something. I really enjoy coming here for the vibes, it was a great ambiance, especially on Thanksgiving day. I will be coming back since I'm a Wine Club member, unfortunately, I was just really disappointed with the meal I had. read more

This is my second visit to this winery/ restaurant. The first time was right before the pandemic. The restaurant has gone through some changes. Dingy, dirty carpeting, no soap or locks in the women's restroom, even the sign for the ladies room is missing the "L" The wine glasses they used in the past for wine tasting were the larger more appealing looking wine glasses, now they use the small generic, common looking wine glasses. The wine tasting was good and then we decided to get seated for an early dinner. A server named "Liz" short for Lizette she said came to our table to welcome us and give us menus. She was very unwelcoming, when my friend who is a longtime member of Coopers Hawk started to ask her questions she quickly responded in a rude way, "I don't know, J haven't looked up ur account, I'll be back with ur drinks and then u can ask me questions....l have a lot of other tables to tend to"....! was aghast, what the heck? Who interrupts a patron in that manner, dismisses her and walks away? Throughout the service she was very short and rude. Over talking when my friend had member questions and then being meanly sarcastic. She should not be in a service position. Patrons who spend so much money for a membership should not be treated this way. The food and drinks Coopers Hawk offers is good but the service, look and maintenance of the restaurant is lacking. read more

I went to Cooper's Hawk with a large group for our friend's birthday. It has an upscale lodge-esque feel to it. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive, constantly checking in on us and refilling our beverages and taking on our orders and misc requests without being overbearing. Truly, she was a rockstar. I got the blackened ahi tuna and it was...interesting. The fish was slightly warm (as it should be), but then the coleslaw on top was cold and the rice underneath was hot, leading to an expected temperature experience. The textural juxtaposition in combination with the sauce on the side made for an odd and unwieldy dining experience. read more

The saving grace of our visit was our server; Ari. She apologized for not only the initial wait to be seated but then the time we had waited before a server (her) came and attended to us. Wasn't too crazy about the wines of the month but nevertheless happy to have sampled them. If an establishment has someone like Ari as a server then it's a win win. Coopers hawk for brunch... who knew this place got so packed! Went for brunch with a girlfriend around noon. Ordered the plate of Gnocchi with roasted butternut squash and Chicken Madeira, both the lunch size entrees. The waitress knew we were going to split the meals in half so she brought the meals out separately and in two separate plates. Doing so gave us time to savor each meal on its own and not have to try and divvy it up ourselves. I loved it. The food was phenomenal! We also had the bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer and that did not last long on the plate. Upon leaving we were trying to buy a couple bottles of wine. We tried getting the attention of the staff, yet were told they were busy. We waiting a good 10mins and still didn't get any help. I'm not sure why they were so short staffed for a busy afternoon, they could literally have 1 or 2 people at a register just for takeout wine orders. Or, suggestion, before we leave our table, we put the order in and they have it ready at the register for us to pay on our way out. Either way we walked out of there without wine. This place is big enough to accommodate alot of people and there is a parking garage just behind it, which makes it very convenient. read more

I spent $50 on the trio of medallions meal, and for that price, the only vegetable was asparagus.... three pieces of it. $50 and you're skimping on vegetables you could buy by the bushel for a few dollars? I placed my order at Cooper's Hawk at 6:48 and was told it would be ready at 7:22. I understand it was busy, so I tried to be patient and give some grace, but my order wasn't ready until 7:56. After waiting over an hour, I definitely did not expect my food to be cold. I was so hungry that I ate in the car immediately, so there was no extra wait time after pickup. I had the best time here. I came during happy hour and I definitely ordered too many things but it was all great. The venue is connected to a parking garage and the rates are very inexpensive. The venue itself has wine bottles all over the place and look very classy. The staff are extremely nice. The shift change can get weird and leave you looking for someone. I started off with the pretzel bread which was pretty decent but the butter was rock hard. The PB&J Old Fashioned tastes exactly like a PB&J sandwich. They also let you try a wine sampling. The tempura shrimp was ok but not something I would get again. The main course was a mix-match of parmesan fries, oven roasted vegetables, miso glazed salmon, and parmesan crusted medallion steaks. They remade the steak bites because they were well-done at first and I wanted medium. The food was amazing. I would love to come back to this place. Apparently they didn't have any other to-go cups. AND they didn't want to provide us with more drinks. They said that was all they could do. No refund, nothing. Terrible service. While the food was delicious and our server was great, my one-star rating is mostly towards the management staff. The bartenders at the tasting were all over the place, hard to track down and get to focus on service and less on standing around gossiping to one another. Our biggest disappointment came with the restaurant management. Why have a bottle of the winter red available on the menu when the general manager wants to tell our server that it "can only be sold glass by glass" at the table. It's literally on the menu for the restaurant as a bottle. The blatant lies to try and get people to pay more is just a gross business practice. read more

#1 Heriberto was an amazing server, we were well taken care of, checked in on, and their energy was beautiful. We've been here multiple times but this may have been our best visit. The caprese flatbread was great, as usual. As was the bruschetta. I could eat the gnocchi butternut squash all day every day. I am not sure where the squash lived but the rest of it was delicious- mushrooms, potatoes, etc. We asked for bread to just sop up the extra sauce as we didn't want to miss a lick. Besides the gnocchi, the best part of the night was the PBJ Old Fashioned. it came with a sidecar of sweet wine to rep the jelly, which was good but I didn't even need it- the Old Fashioned was peanut-buttery, so so so good. Birthday celebration at Cooper's Hawk, as a wine club member it's never a disappointment. Tonight, on a special evening of celebration the service was absolutely fantastic. Not only was Leander, our server, friendly and approachable, he gave great recommendations and ended the evening in song for the birthday! Jessica, the manager for the evening was so lovely, and came by to ensure that everything was to our liking. Food was delicious, and paired it with the rhubarb bubbly. My favorite place to grab brunch with the gals! Cozy and great service--loved the brunch and bubbles menu, free bread service and my breakfast sangria cocktail. On the brunch menu, the mimosa or breakfast sangria is $5, which was a great value. When we arrived at 11:30 am on a Sunday it was quiet but quickly filled up in a nice way. I had the lunch portion of the lemon picatta and salted caramel doughnuts and both were big portions and really tasty. I recommend a reservation on the weekend! read more
