This place was bragged about to me and I was under whelmed at my experience. It was a Saturday so I assumed it would be busy. It wasn't as busy as I thought, yet there was a wait inside but not outside. As we sat outside roughly 15 mins went by before anyone came out to ask if we wanted drinks. This was my first time in a long time to try their mimosas. I won't be ordering them again. I can't say much for the ambiance because we were sat outside next to the bust cart and plain view of the kitchen. I truly regret sitting there. The kitchen was not a mess as in busy a mess like there was no passion and trust me ,it spilled into the food. The pancakes were dry and floury not fluffy but chalky. The skillet wasn't as hot as I thought it was and the food had almost no flavor even after adding pepper. My guest even poured more than their fair share of hot sauce to make it half way. Such a cute spot! The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating--we chose a charming table outside, tucked under a little white umbrella. Our server, Gabriella, was fantastic. Be sure to ask for her! We stopped in for a late brunch, but the restaurant has a full menu and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day long. We ordered the flight of waffles, the flight of French toast, and a flavorful Mexican omelette. The coffee was also really good. The caramel latte is a must--rich, smooth, and just the right hint of sweetness. And of course, we couldn't skip a brunch cocktail! You must try the spicy cucumber margarita. It's unbelievably refreshing and delicious. All the drinks are freshly made. The presentation of the drinks is top-notch--mine even had a little sparkle in it All in all, the experience was fantastic. Walked inside at around 10am on a Sunday and was met with bright lights, the strong smell of bathroom cleaner, and the loud roar of everyone attempting to talk over generic club music. The saving grace of this place was the friendly wait staff. Was seated quickly, but had to wait a while to have our order taken. Was immediately put off by the cost-- $15 for two eggs, potatoes, and toast. Wound up deciding on two coffees , "the Liege Pearl" waffle and a skillet. The coffee was weak and terrible. None of the flavors were balanced for the dishes. Way too much cheese and barely any mushroom or potato in the skillet while the waffle has tons of chocolate dumped on it, drowning out any other flavors. The kicker was that we were given 3/4 of a full waffle. When we asked, we were told the dish normally is only HALF a waffle and that we were lucky to get an additional quarter. For $17. Even if the menu were half the cost, I would never come back here. Edit: Dropped to one star on account of the unhinged response from the owner. To clarify: as soon as you walk into the restaurant, it smells like urinal cakes. I'm happy for the owner that they are attracted to that smell, but I'm positive the majority of people don't want the smell of urinal cakes to accompany their breakfast. Also to anyone else reading this, there are four sit down restaurants within two blocks with better breakfast food at better prices that don't smell like a toilet, let alone 3 other breakfast restaurants that opened in Oak Park in the last couple of years. I did order to-go. I was greeted by a host a few seconds after entering. No issues with the experience inside the restaurant as I ordered. Glad there wasn't any loud music, actually, I don't recall hearing any music. The setting was nice. The food was pretty good. I ordered the short-rib stack with plain pancakes. Not sure I can eat short ribs when it has too many fat pieces. The only issue which is a big one is that there were no utensils or napkins in the bag...what am I an animal. I thought to eat in the park but had to leave since my parking was expiring. I wanted to grab a few bites on the road...I know not the best choice but that was my situation at the time. I took my cousin to Chicago Waffles in Oak Park for breakfast around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, arriving without a reservation. The place was packed, with several large parties waiting to be seated. After a few minutes the hostess appeared, and once I confirmed everyone ahead of us had already checked in, she told us the wait would be short since it was just the two of us. Despite every table being full, we were seated within five minutes. The waitstaff immediately brought water to the table, and Alexis--our server--came by shortly after to take our drink order: a latte and a freshly brewed iced tea. Both arrived promptly. After several minutes to review the menu, we ordered the Paco Taco, a side of Maple-Bacon Sausage, and a half order of Bacon & Chicken (aka Chicken & Waffles). I appreciated being able to choose my syrup and went with the spicy option. Our food arrived in about 15 minutes, served at the right temperature and looking great. The pancakes (for the Paco Taco) were fluffy, and the chicken & waffles paired perfectly with the spicy syrup. Unfortunately, the side order was missing. After waiting a bit, I reminded Alexis, who seemed a little flustered but attentive. It took another 10 minutes for the side to arrive, and by then we were nearly finished with our meal. A small hiccup, but the overall quality of the food still stood out--flavorful and well-prepared. Alexis also refilled my iced tea without me having to ask, which I appreciated. Even with the restaurant at full capacity, we were able to talk comfortably, likely because we were seated toward the back. The space is charming, nicely decorated, and offers a wide range of food and drink options. Greetings all my Foodzies, Sunday morning I had a taste for pancakes, so we decided to go to Chicago Waffle at 726 Lake st in Oak Park. Our server Bailey was polite, friendly and very attentive. To quench my desire for pancakes I chose the red velvet pancakes it was a great choce, i received 4 nice sized pancakes with candied walnuts, whipped butter, sliced fresh strawberries, chocolate sauce and vanilla frosting; I topped it with warm syrup and it was heavenly. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and mixed with everything else each bite was a velvet treat. Glenda had the breakfast burrito with the house potatoes. The burrito was filled with well seasoned chorizo, tomato, avocado onions jalapeño and sour cream. Very tasty. I give this restaurant 5 stars. Try it and let me know what you think. If you get here early, you'll be able to get in and get out relatively easily. Don't wait until after 10 or it will be a madhouse on the weekends and there isn't a ton of staff. They have a huge menu and if you can't find something, that's on you! It's pricey, but the mains are a good portion. It's the extras that I question. $3.50 for a kid's size soda? $3.99 for a juice? More and more the price gauging is happening on beverages to the point that it's making me want to just get water. I finally got a chance to check this place out. It has been on my food places list to visit. The atmosphere was nice and everyone here was nice. My server Nicholas was very attentive and made sure everything was ok with me. The food came out quickly and cooked just the way I liked. I stayed with ordering a traditional breakfast. Wheat Toast, Eggs, Bacon and Red Potatoes. I was pleased with the experience of dining here. I live 5 mins away so I will definitely be back to try out other dishes and drinks on the menu. For our food I did go to the vegetarian a skillet which had potatoes, spinach, mushrooms and other assorted vegetables and I just got regular pancakes that did not have multi-grain. The breakfast was okay. My guest got like a half of breakfast meal with turkey sausage. Add it. We didn't get anything spectacular and I didn't want to spend loads because this was going to be your day packed with activities. If you're in the area, give them a check out and definitely be on the lookout for free parking because on the street that it sits on you do have to feed it the meters. read more

A note on the menu: poor. More items than they can handle properly, I think, but also littered with typos. The pictures do the food aesthetic no justice and turned me off a number of items. The salmon Beny seems to be one Benedict with no sides... for $20? Girl, please. The service was fine. The server wasn't attentive, did spill my friend's drink and wasn't knowledgeable on available teas, but she was new and I can forgive that. The host overlooked a group that had been waiting. And, though there was a handwritten sign warning of no split checks, there was no warning for the processing fee if paying with card. Nice one. As for the set up: I think it's a little awkward that the kitchen is by the door but if that's how the building is built, nothing to be done. The decor is your typical trendy floral with some funny waffle-themed paintings and additional random art hung up. A few TVs. A malfunctioning neon sign. Too many tables (small and cramped; shouldn't be forced to fit four people) to be comfortable and yet not enough to meet demand. Overall, I was unimpressed and won't be back. The restaurants was quite packed today on this beautiful Sunday. The restaurant was packed with people upon check in. It was very busy. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The lost in love was good, I would order it again. The waffle flight, sadly I was underwhelmed by this. There were four different flavors, the red velvet was the most distinct, the others didn't really have distinguished flavors and tasted very much the same. I should have gotten a skillet. My boyfriend got the short rib skillet and it was pretty good. He enjoyed it a lot. The potatoes were perfectly crisp on one side and serving the middle, the meat tender and juicy, the eggs sunny side up. It was a good pick. I think this would make a good boozy brunch spot, as the drinks are affordable and taste good. I will have to come back again and try something else. The eggs are supposed to be cooked in the dish and not put on top and they were slightly overdone. Downtown Oak Park is a quaint and lovely old town-type of destination with one-of-a-kind shops, eateries and a park to enjoy on a lazy Saturday or Sunday. It was good to notice no homeless folks wandering around, as you would in any quaint California downtown area these days. It was our first time at this place for brunch, recommended by our friends who had only discovered it last month. The menu is full of interesting choices (see my photos) and the servings are big/generous. But I'm only giving a 3-star rating due to a few glitches in our orders (we were a party of six), and the restrooms status. My hubby & I arrived before our friends did, so we sat down, and asked for coffee. Coffee was lukewarm, almost cool; we gave both cups back. My husband's order said on the menu it came with three eggs. It only came with two. Server apologized, and delivered the 3rd egg a few minutes later. One of our friends ordered the vegetarian omelet, but the Mediterranean omelet was served to her! So, she had to wait for the correct entree to be cooked and served. My order of the green tea waffles was pleasantly loaded with pistachios. I loved it! My hubby, who is a great cook himself, tried the corned beef hash entree, and was not impressed. The restroom itself is spacious and with updated interior, but the standard of upkeep needs improvement. Mopping of the floor is obviously sloppy, as all the edges are caked with dirt. I had the Banana Cream Pie Waffles...... topped with CARMELIZED BANANAS, VANILLA ICE CREAM and CONDENSED MILK!!! They have also have waffles options that include Blueberry Lemon Cheesecake, Cookies & Ice Cream, Cheddar & Short Rib and get this - they have a WAFFLE CHICKEN SANDWICH TACO STYLE which is their Belgian waffle with fried chicken, served with coleslaw, scallions, sunny side up egg and spicy maple syrup. Their cocktail menu is extensive as well and I definitely enjoyed my drink called "Between The Sheets," made with Cognac, White Rum and Cointreau.
