Mr Cooper took over my loan I have it set up on auto pay to be delivered on the 5th of each month. They called me after my first payment with them to tell me I was late with my mtg payment! I explained I wasn't late and that is how I've set up my payments. I've never been contacted by previous lenders to say I'm late. When I'm not. Today again another phone call from a debt collector and to please call asap It was processing through B of A when they called I called right back and explained the same thing this time. I received an email this am telling me funds have been withdrawn. When I spoke with them I mentioned the email They said they haven't received I just got the email saying they received my payment! Perhaps contacting me when it would be considered late They can check my 4 months history with them and verify when my payments are set up read more

Be very cautious letting Cooper do your accounting. I went to him for my business and personal for three years and I now have over $1000 in fines because he did not do it correctly and did not fix his mistakes after I sent him the letters from the IRS and gave him over five opportunities to fix the issues. I have been patronizing Cooper's Accounting Service since I was a senior in high school. Now as a woman on the brink of 30 I still from across the county (I am in Pittsburgh now) yearly have my taxes prepared with Cooper's accounting. The founder Mr. Cooper did my mother and my grandmother's taxes and has always done the highest quality of work. The tax prepares at CAS are dedicated to their customers and have never failed to be transparent in the process. This quality of service is what has drawn me to using CAS the last 10 plus years and is what will continue my loyalty to them. Coop did my taxes for about 4 years starting 2015 I am still dealing with the issues. I had issues every year I file taxes not to mention I paid him to start an S, Corp. and that had issues as well. Save your time, energy, and money! I did my 2021 business tax return and personal tax return and now I have the IRS sending me documents stating there has been filing errors. I've tried calling, left messages, send emails, spoken to front desk and Maria and no one could help me. Maria said she would text Maricela( who did my taxes under the presence of Cooper himself) and add me to the conversation and she didn't keep her word. A text takes less than two minutes to compose and send. Customer service is key to any business and it's clear that at Coopera Accounting Services you will not get any. I will be dealing with problems for years after filing here last year. Coop convinced me to switch from a 1099 into an "s Corp". He explained that as an s Corp I do not need to pay self employment taxes and will have more write offs. He also convinced me to retroactively refile for 3 years since my last accountant allegedly messed up my 1099. I paid him 6k and was supposed to get 12k back. I got 12k back but when I looked at my paperwork later (which wasn't what he showed me before filing) I saw I got that money back because he just added random write offs in there that I do not have receipts for at all. I also got that money back because now I don't pay into social security, which he did not tell me would happen. When I asked him about it he just told me I shouldn't trust the gov with my money and I should invest it myself. So yeah I basically paid 6k to take out my social security and refile fraudulent taxes. A few months later I got a penalty notice for 5k and after emailing and calling him for about 2 weeks with no response I called the IRS myself because the penalty due date was one day away. They said none of my paperwork checks out. He actually never even made me an s Corp, I was a general partnership and I'm still getting credit card offers with his name and my business on it! The IRS waived the fee and just told me to fix it immediately and when I reached out again asking him what happened I got childish defensive responses telling me I should have never called the IRS because now I've made a mess of his work. I went to a new tax person this year and she said it's so bad I should sue. I just had to get off the phone with the IRS again because my 2019 taxes (not done by coop) aren't being accepted and it turns out it's because He never sent in the form he had me sign to "fix things" that switched me to an s cop. I'm past the deadline to do that now since my taxes have taken so long to sort out this year so yeah, I'm upset. I'll be anxiously awaiting an audit for a long time to come and I've set aside that stupid 6k I got back because I know I'll be in trouble later I really don't want a response to this Coop, because I know you will take zero accountability for this. I'm just writing this because I went to you hoping these few bad reviews weren't true and I trusted my friends referral. read more

I came to Cooper in 2019 for help with my taxes. He convinced me to pay him $800 to establish a business. As I was going to open a business checking account, I discovered that he, had not ever opened my business. This meant that the business and personal taxes I paid and trusted him to do correctly, were fraudulent. It's 2022 and I can reestablish my business, but can only go back 2 years. This means that I will have to file personal taxes as an independent contractor and will mean I owe tens of thousands to the irs. Now he is gas lighting me and stating that k told him just to open the business because I couldn't afford it. Thing is, I have a receipt which clearly says I paid $800 to have the business established. Cooper has decided to refund some of my money. He sent an urgent overnight package with a check for $2600.00. I took that check directly to the bank and they wouldn't cash it because there wasn't enough funds in the account. I called his office and his secretary told me they just needed to verify the check and argued with me for 5 minutes. She finally put Cooper on the phone and he told me that the funds are not yet available. This guy is pathetic. He's a crook and a terrible business man. What kind of accountant writes a bad check for his accounting business? What kind of accountant doesn't have $2,600 in the bank. At this point, I can't tell if it's fraud or incompetence, but he will lose his license over this. read more

I base this review only of the quote I received from this business over the phone. The quote I was given was TRIPLE what other business quoted me on Yelp. I'm not sure how that price is justified. Was looking forward to giving them a try , but at triple the prices I'm not sure that will happen. Fyi - my quote for tax prep for two w2s , one rental property and owners of one home was 600.00 4 other businesses quoted me a Max of 225 . What gives? Are the services rely so amazing that they can charge triple the amount that others would? 3/13/18 I had a chance to speak with Mr. Cooper over the phone. These people made me cry!!! For joy that is..... I had found someone local to me when I lived in LA to do my taxes. This was a bad decision. I owed soooo much to the IRS and I couldn't understand how. I had been putting off doing my 2016 taxes because I was sure I would owe even more. I owed $50,000+. Fast forward to the middle part of 2017. I moved out of the LA area and I decided to find someone closer to do my taxes. I decided to use Yelp to help me find one and after I read all of the good reviews of this business, I decided to go with them. I was asked to bring in all of my previous tax information, and after reviewing them I was told that they were done completely wrong. I had to amend my taxes from previous years and even had to amend my S-Corp because it was done incorrectly. I now owe $0 in taxes to the IRS!!! I seriously cried when I found out! This saved me! My old tax person was taxing me double on my income, which is why I owed so much. After seeing my results, my business partners also get their accounting and tax services done here. I even got a freaking refund!!! I went from owing $50,000+ to getting a refund! I am still in shock! I am very pleased with how much this office has helped me. So we used Cooper last year, had no issues except having to refile paper after being rejected through efiling. Still, no real issues. I rated Cooper 5 stars. This year we returned to Cooper. Same thing happened. My husband's tax return got rejected through efile and therefore after a few weeks we had to submit a paper version, possible 6 weeks to recieve a refund. Well 6 weeks passed and we didnt recieve anything so we contacted Coop and was told to come into the office to contact IRS, so we did with a staff member. Turns out whoever prepared our tax the second time around sent in a blank form meaning IRS didnt get anything. Okay, so now a little irriated, we were relying on the money, we had to then go back in to AMEND. Cooper did refund us what he charged us for it, however, because of the Amendment, it takes 3 weeks for the IRS to recieve it and just finding out right now that it could take up to 16 weeks to fully process the Amended Taxes, which means, we originally filed in March.. we wont be seeing any money until maybe September?!?! Really upsetting. My husband took a medical leave thinking this money would be cushion until he returned to work, was hoping to plan family vacations with it, but it doesnt look that way now. So we got essentially screwed due to their mistake so we are really upset. Coop and staff are nice and friendly thus the 2 star, but unfortunately this one error has an impactful consequence on our family finances and we are very unhappy clients. read more

My dad, who was an engineer and a foreman for a large oil company for more than 35 years, developed an interest in tax preparation a few years before he retired. I left three messages and nobody ever picked up the phone. Don't they employ a receptionist, especially at tax time? Instead, an automated provided the choice of three people, one being Mr. Cooper himself. Mr. Cooper gets a brownie point for sending me an email via Yelp asking if anyone had returned my call and if not gave me the number again. Now, since this was the owner, I figured I'd give the benefit of the doubt and call again. Same thing...automated system that tells you to contact owner or 2 others. I left a message on all three...granted I knew nothing about the 2 persons I left the message for, but the point is neither called back. Ever.
