Not to get into details, but I had something wrong with my feet that caused extreme pain practically all the time. I bought shoes with custom-fitted inserts at Cooper's - from Don Cooper personally for the first pair and from his associate Crystal for the second - and they have revolutionized my life from the ankles down. They are expensive but worth it. I intend to take care of these shoes so the cost prorated out over their lifetime will be no more than other people spend on fashionable but painful footwear. While not exactly fashionable, these shoes look more or less like regular running/walking shoes and don't scream "Orthopedic!" like some other kinds do. Located in Wedgwood on the I-20 frontage road, hard to get into from the road, and limited parking, but they don't have many people at a time there - it's appointment only - so you can find a place up close. You must get on the frontage road at Granbury Road where it passes under I-20 to drive up the hill to their location. Strongly recommend Cooper's Footcare even if you have to drive across town to get there. read more

My 17-year old son has severely high arches. He plays basketball, which involves a great amount of jumping up and down. It means he is landing just on the balls of his feet, resulting in blisters which have turned into wounds. To be honest, his arch is so high that he probably shouldn't be playing basketball, but he loves it so much and has so much fun with his friends that I don't have the heart to make him quit yet. It's a really bad situation. We have tried everything, including prescription orthotics made by a very reputable hospital system. Those work fine for walking around, but can't help with the cushioning he needs for sports. We made an appointment last week and drove an hour to get there. It was SO worth it! Mr. Cooper took impressions of his feet, then made a terrifically cushioning support insert for his basketball shoes. He wore them to play a game, and although his feet still hurt (and realistically always will until he has corrective surgery), they are already SO much less painful for him! The cushioning is key. We came back for a slight adjustment today. Mr. Cooper definitely has a true understanding of the mechanics of difficult feet. Even better, he is so incredibly caring. I have big ole flat feet that are getting worse by the month. A collapsed joint on the outside of my ankle has caused pain with each step for over a year. I have had three opinions from three different orthopedic surgeons, the last being from the great docs at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Three approaches from three doctors, all included surgery. I was a difficult one to work with. I had melanoma on the bottom of my foot and there are many areas of "tenderness". The doctors kept telling me to get gel pads and I kept tellingthe doctors, that gel pads DID NOT work. Mr Cooper understood exactly what I was saying and listened to me about where the pain is in my foot. He worked tirelessly on getting my insoles just right. I can't even count how many times we went back to make corrections on the insole. My foot felt SO MUCH better.
