One of the best named bars in San Antonio. Cootey's! YEEHAW!! This place has a lot going on. It reminds me of the great bars of the Southside only not so trashy. It has a great outside smokers area with a big old fan blowing up your skirt. Don't worry, I wasn't looking. They remodeled the inside with shuffleboard, pool tables and karaoke. This place gets pretty hopping after work. Service can be kind of sketchy, depending on who is behind the bar and how quick they want to be. It's usually not very quick, by the way. Everyone knows everyone. The beer comes in a coozie, the liquor is expensive. It's going to be a great time. Come here often. read more

So far I've been to Cootey's on 2 separate occasions and had a great time at both! The first time I went, my cousin and i were looking for a place to go to that had karaoke because the bar we wanted to go to didn't on a Friday night. We had 2 other friends meeting us from Austin and they really wanted to do some singing. We decided to come here after looking at the reviews. We were surprised when we got there. We thought it was a cute and quite little hang out bar. A nice place to relax after work or hang out with friends. There were maybe 15-20 people there when we got there. One waiter guy came up to us right away and he was really nice. He asked if we had ever been there before and let us know all about the different drinks and pricing. Karaoke started at 10 so we had some time to just hang out and talk while waiting for our other friends. Once they got there and the singing started, we had even more fun (and more drinks lol). We had a lot of good stories to tell after that. We decided to go back a few weeks ago to meet some other friends and it was just as much fun as the first night. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the small bar atmosphere. There were people who would come and go. Some regulars and some not. We didn't have any issues with bartenders. There was one guy that stayed behind the bar most of the night and then another girl walking around checking on people in the bar. If you're into karaoke, then you should check this place out to. Cootey's is one of the best dive bars around - similar vibe as Poets in Chicago. Atmosphere is laid back. The owner & staff are friendly. Drinks are good & reasonably priced - Chris & Sarah are the mixologists of choice. Patrons are friendly & generally well-behaved. Karaoke on Fridays & Saturdays is excellent - especially when Luis is the KJ. Wife & I have become weekend regulars after stopping in here one night about a year ago. Disappointed after representing this bar at the National Trivia Competition in Las Vegas..and continue to come weekly to play trivia for them...the owner will not carry the beer I drink after missing three weeks in December. She carried until the new year...not sure that we missed three weeks justifies not carrying my beer... what happened?...not good customer service, I will not contribute to her profits. read more

Cootey's is like a pair of sweat pants, or like your broken in lazy boy. It's comfortable bliss. I've been coming to Cootey's for years now, and I am rarely disappointed. Even on a Friday / Saturday it's not super packed, there are plenty of chairs, tables, bar stools, and comfy couches to lounge around on. They have 2 pool tables, 2 dart boards, NTN, and a very popular shuffleboard table. Flat screen TV's encircle the bar to accommodate the sports fans. The bar and waitstaff are always very nice and attentive. Cootey's is always running some sort of bar special, but their drinks are decently priced anyway. If you are looking for that hole-in-the-wall bar with good drinks and a nice comfy vibe, you should come on by, and check it out! read more

THIS BAR IS GREAT... if you like overpriced, underpoured drinks in an atmosphere so dark it resembles a dungeon. The glasses are stuffed so full of ice its beyond ridiculous and they don't have any REAL specials. Dont order a shot unless you won the lottery! They will charge you 4 bucks per shot plus another 2 bucks for a splash of red bull or whatever mixer they use in it. There is vomit on the walls in the ladies room and has been there quite awhile. Unless you're a rich alcoholic attorney on your lunch break lookin for a dump to hide out in, this place is a waste of time, money and a perfectly good few hours of your life. read more

This is my favorite laid back bar to meet a friend for drinks. The beer is cold, the wait staff attentive and the crowd is friendly. They have trivia on Wednesday and karaoke on Saturdays if you want more than just conversation. A great place to hang out with your girlfriends without constant interruptions from random guys. read more

Wife and I recently went for some karaoke fun. Beer was cold. Staff was nice. Dart games were cheap and working. Patio in the front is nice and had good sound system from the juke box. Once karaoke started lot of good singers out there. I was not one of the good singers. We had a great time. Oh and they have snacks. read more

This is a good dive bar. I went there on a Friday nite, had people of all ages and a decent crowd...a couple big groups...some decent looking women. They had karaoke with several people singing one it started. First couple of hours you could sing a few times but later when more people sing you might only get to sing one song...I think it started at 10pm...so get there around that time if you want to sing multiple songs. It's a nice little place to hang out, play pool, sing, whatever. read more
