Enjoyed my visit to the RD Speakeasy. It wasn't easy to find, but was worth the search! After I made the reservation online, I got the confirmation but not the password. So on the way, I texted and requested the password. After a brief search and knocking on several doors, I realized the entrance is behind the restaurant in its own small parking lot. Look for the green light and avoid searching around like a weirdo, like me lol. Once inside, I found the interior is cozy with seating for couples, small groups and bar seating. We asked the mixologist to put his own spin on old fashions and he delivered. I'm addicted to the spicy cinnamon version that he created! The quail pops were a nice little appetizer although they could have used a bit more seasoning. I think the drink and app prices were very reasonable. Service was laid back and friendly. My only reco would be to maybe put a bit more thought into the vintage decor and secret restroom. The restroom lock was hard to figure out, especially after a drink or two lol. This place is sick! Super lowkey speakeasy that you genuinely have to make a reservation for. We tried to walk in without one but did not have the "password" required at the door, so we had to join the waitlist. Luckily the host texted us and said he had some openings so we got lucky and came back and got an area for 4 people. The vibe and scenery inside are perfect, they really make you feel like you are in a speakeasy. It is limited seating so you feel special to be there. Our server was super friendly, cool, and chatted with us helping us choose drinks and talking about local spots to hang out at afterwards. The drinks were amazing! Although it is unmarked from the outside and sits in the same building as an older diner-style restaurant, it excels at maintaining its own identity. The inside is extremely charming, offering laid-back chill vibes, comfortable seating, eclectic style, eccentric knickknacks, a bathroom concealed by a hidden bookshelf, and more. The cocktails are excellent. They are crafted with care, curiosity, and passion and are changed often to reflect seasonality. Ingredients are fresh and made in house as much as possible. A true speakeasy. Come here to be transported to the back lounge of the famed, Barn Door steakhouse. Seriously. You make a reservation online and are given a code word. Upon arrival, you are asked for the code word. No code word, no entry. Once there, the spot is dimly lit. Perfect for a date. My gf and I enjoyed our time there and had an interesting assortment of cocktails with distinct ingredients. There is a finger food/snack menu. I saw families through the window eating dinner with their kids. Not that there's anything wrong with that! It just doesn't equate the cost of the $14-$16 dollar drink IMO. I was invited to a friend's birthday party here. We were emailed instructions and had to follow them to the tee. For one, the time limit is absolute. As far as drinks go I can't recall the menu but they were very good and our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. They're connected to the Barn Door restaurant and offer a food menu. This place did not disappoint! Loved the concept, and the staff truly aimed to please. I found out about this place through a Facebook group, and it was easy to navigate. The only way to get a spot is by online reservation or phone. You will reserve the spot with your debit/credit card, and they will email you with instructions and password. Once we arrived, it was quite the experience. Nice atmosphere, intimate setting, and the mixologist are amazing. My Tom Collins was delicious and clean. What a cool spot! Unassumingly tucked behind a steakhouse is a pretty legit speakeasy. No signage or windows, peephole at the door, passwords to enter, bookshelves for doors/one way glass, etc. It's tiny (maybe 25-30 seats) so it's very intimate and perfect for a date night. Only about 4 seats at the bar; the rest are lounge chairs/booths/a high top. They've got extremely knowledgeable and proficient bartenders (probably some of the best I've encountered outside of Vegas) that'll make anything you could possibly think of or just go off of the flavor profile you describe. Want a craft cocktail that hasn't been on most menus in 80 years? Done. Want something and just throw out "I like herbal, savory, sweet" or whatever? Done. Seriously, hats off to those gents. I didn't try the food but it looked like small snacks (hot pretzels and whatnot) so I can't comment on that, but it looked pretty good. If you want to visit, you've got to text them for reservations; I was pleasantly surprised how serious the whole password thing was. This isn't a neighborhood bar you pop into and down a beer/wings watching Sports Center, it's an event. I was in the area right around opening (5pm) and texted; luckily they had an open seat at the bar and were quick to reply. Number is on the website. Tucked behind The Barn Door restaurant, adorned by nothing more than a green lantern above the door, RD doesn't look like much from the outside. Step inside however and you will be transported to a lounge from another era, finding yourself surrounded by numerous velvet sofas, low tables and art deco lamps. A large and fabulous chandelier hangs in the middle of the room. The staff is welcoming and always ready for your next cocktail order. My husband and I discovered RD after being invited through a friend to their soft opening last Friday. In my experience, soft openings can be a hit or miss so we were a bit worried initially, but it turned out to be a wonderful evening that I would qualify without hesitation as a success. The owner was present and making sure all the guests were having a good time, too. We got to meet with locals and socialized abundantly. While we could tell that they are still building their bar (some types of liquors and spirits were missing), all the drinks we ordered were all very good and the bartenders were very accomodating! Where to start? My husband surprised me with a date night here and I almost killed him when we drove up. Looked like he was taking me to wash dishes at the restaurant. Then we knocked on this unassuming door, gave a password and entered into another era. The decor is straight out of the 20's, Beautiful. Red Barn, Really Drunk, or as I like to say; the Real Deal. It's a true speak easy right here in our town. You'll text to get your reservation and password to enter. It's fun. Once inside you'll be able to have a snack to get your pallet ready. They even give you a mini cocktail to get your cocktail adventure started. Everyone is so attentive and friendly. You'll feel right at home like a Patsy Cline song. We started with the Aviation cocktail. It was a perfect specimen of the classic. Presentation was on point. They even have some snacks on the menu if you need a little nosh. The decor is so warm and inviting. It will take you back so you can cozy up with family or friends and fall into some good times. The actual bar is from 1927 and came from Ohio. Be sure to check it out. The fireplace is from NOLA and it's charm is lit.
