Such a fun bar! Came last weekend with some family while we were in town and had a blast. The bartenders and staff were super nice. They had a bunch of drink specials that we enjoyed. Some drinks were really good and some were just okay so just be careful what you order. I asked the bartender if he could make a lemon drop which he said he could but it was mostly all lemon juice so I couldn't drink it. Overall a nice experience and a pretty chill crowd. Man, it was a throw back visiting The Hangar for their $5 AYCE Crawfish Boil, Sunday, 2 weeks ago. But it was a good throw back feeling. I had not visited The Hangar in probably 9-10 years. The minute I heard they were doing a crawfish boil, I was like "Take me back in time! Let's do this!" And was it a blast from the past. A good blast. Definitely a good blast. It was PACKED. And I mean packed. But very well organized, and efficient. The crawfish was seasoned perfectly, served hot, with sausage, corn and potatoes. The bartenders were working hard behind the bar, and did not make you wait long to be waited on. The DJ was bumping, man, his jams were good. Once they ran out of crawfish, 700 pounds of crawfish, it cleared out pretty quick. My friend and I decided to move out to the patio and just catch up while the crowd died down. The jams kept coming, he was playing early 2000s punk rock. Bartenders were able to focus a little more on the customer, as they were not slammed. The bathrooms were clean. Pool sticks all broken, go to use the toilet and the seat literally falls off onto the ground... the pool tables are disgusting, you cant touch menus without your hands being sticky. just walking next to the pool table was sticky. I don't believe this place ever gets a good cleaning and as you can see the photo shows it's been this way for some time when patrons are asking for a bathroom remodel! No way was I going to eat anything from there, I can only imagine how dirty the kitchen would be. Only nice thing were the patrons and the one girl bartender. Like most places in San Antonio, The Hanger has gone through several changes and faces. The recent one appears to be new ownership. They're cleaning up the back room and tore down the back patio. As of this weekend, it appears they made room for new parking, which doesn't hurt business. Some fun features include beer pong, darts, pool tables, short spaced shuffleboard, outdoor bean bag toss, a large scale mega pong (replace solo cups for trash cans/replace pong balls with soccer or volley balls), bikini competitions, beer tastings, etc. They definitely need more umbrellas on the weekends when they have the outdoor space open because it gets scorchy! The food is pretty excellent too. We've come on Sunday's brunch at 11:30 (ends at 3 pm). For $12, it's all you can eat. They start you with one of everything so you can sample it all. If you still want more, you can ask for whichever item you want. We've gone sausage and bacon several times over because bacon on Sunday. Duh. I think it's even deep fried. Brunch is fun. I don't care too much for the french toast, but that's me. Football is back in action so that means $10 buckets of beer during (and only DURING) Texans and Cowboys games. I'm not a Cowboys fan, but I won't mind taking advantage of that deal. Other drink musts are the $8 Red Bull-What have you-mini- pitchers. Sometimes it's more beverage than booze, so be sure to ask the server for a separate shot to add in yourself (I'm sure that has something to do with TABC rules on alcohol per drink limitations). They also have $7 mini-Margarita pitchers and $10 you-call-it pitchers. All in all, The Hanger is a great place to frequent on the weekends.
