I highly recommend the UVA bed only at this time (the other bulbs aren't the same). I had issues with healing, a bruise that lingered from a contrast injected from an IV imaging remained in my system for over a week or so resulted in a really bad purple and blue bruise for over a week or so. I remembered as kid they used light therapy to cure jaundice to help the body process toxins. Using the UVA did see results within 24 hours. Please note not every skin type and body is the same. Some medicines, topical treatments, or conditions may worsen as a result of certain exposure. I suffer from a really bad skin condition that doesn't work with topicial treatments. read more

This little gem is located in the Torrance crossroads. On the very corner of Crenshaw & Lomita. It shares a parking lot with other businesses but when I came I had no trouble. This was the first time for me ever to come get a spray tan. I walked in and it was clean & the decor gave you a sense of relaxation. I was instantly greeted by a staff member who was super friendly and so helpful. I knew I wanted a spray tan but didn't know what to do. She went over everything in full detail. Even a second time. She recommended what to do for my skin type as mine was similar to hers and even advised what not to do so I wouldn't look bad. I wanted to do the versa-spa tanning booth. She walked through the 4 poses you do, and went over it and additional time. I felt really confident. The actual booth was very clean. It was in a private room with a towel and mint for my use. The Crossroads location Rocks!! I had this weird skin irritation, that kept coming back, on my chin and around my nose. Ever since Covid. I saw the dermatologist three different times, and was given three different remedies. One actually worked temporarily after oral medication for over a week but, It kept returning unless I go to Cop a tan. I know I'm not supposed to get sun on my face. However, I was taught that the orbit and above beds, are made so there are no UV burning rays in the face lamps. Usually I wear my clothes and just get the light on my face and hands. They also taught me that my face and hands get exfoliated more than the rest of my body. That is why they always seem to be paler than my arms and legs are. read more

Well I've been back once since last year. I called first and asked about the uptight sales rep that worked me last time. I was assured that no one like that was there. The girl at the counter was a joy and I had a good experience. She didn't recognize the dragon lady that I described so she might not be working there any longer. Thankfully, it was a normal place to get some fake sun during the California monsoon. (2 days rain) lol. I'm not saying that the old review was wrong in any way shape or form. As a matter of fact, it's dumb for this dude Wayne to claim it went down any differently considering he wasn't there. I emailed the dude. Course no return mail. He says they didn't know I wanted that bed. Right. That's why I had to get my ID back. Must've torn up the paper i signed too. Wayne my boy, throwing gas on the Fire by calling me a liar probably isn't the best customer service tactic. Idk how old you are but the only pleasant employees so far have been the college age girls. Employee count I've experienced:4. Employees that were cool:2. That's 50% success in the service field. If you reply, get the youngsters to proof your letter first. I'll be back just for an easy bed at the day rate when I need. Daylight Savings means one thing to me and one thing to me only and that is the reminder that it is time to come out of hibernation. With the days being longer and the sun shining bright, it is time to get a nice summer base coat on my winter white skin. And so my tanning salon season begins. I stumbled upon Cop-A-Tan quite some time ago after my fav tanning salon closed down. I went online to find their hours and I ended up finding a cool coupon deal so I though I would give them a try. Their price per session is STEEP at $20. So I would highly recommend looking online for any coupons. I still had a few sessions left from my previous purchase so the gal working said she could get me a deal on additional sessions kind of like an add on. So I got 10 sessions for $125 plus 4 free so 14 all in all. Not bad not bad. This tanning salon is the largest one I have ever been in. They probably @ 15 rooms maybe even 20. All types of beds including the popular Orbit, Stand Up beds as well as Mystic Tan. Rooms are always neat, clean and sanitized and they even put an andes mint on your towel. I like how they have a mini fan on the wall that fans the air into the bed. Most places have huge wind fans on the floor but you can barely feel them through the crack of the bed once it is closed. Staff here is friendly helpful and they always suggest just the right amount of tan time once you start up again so you don't burn your bum. They have a bowl of starbursts at the front desk and they don't mind if you take two. (: Other than the price being pricey (will not come here unless i bring a coupon) I really enjoy this tanning salon. read more

I've been going to this particular tanning salon for about 5 years on and off with few issues. Occasionally, there may be an employee that is less attentive than others but I think that's everywhere. I always thought employees like that, make the good ones really stand out! Jackie is a fantastic manager and goes the extra mile if required. Her customer service skills can be only compared to a Disneyland employee! My other fav is Savannah. She is very knowledgeable about the products and also very helpful and sweet. As far as the beds, they've always been clean. I saw a post about dirty floors. Again I've never been grossed out or found that they were dirty enough to mention to Jackie. I am sure if I found that something that was unacceptable and brought it to Jackie or Savannas attention, they would rectify that problem immediately. I like how recently they put robes in the rooms; that was a nice touch. The decor is a bit outdated, but seriously, who cares, you're not there to take an interior design class you're there to tan. I only have one complaint, I wish they would open a salon in Palos Verdes so I don't have to drive down the hill every day! Keep up the good work Jackie and Savannah!!!! read more

All three staff here are friendly. This place is a lot larger than it seems from the outside with plenty of tanning beds both standing up and lying down. It was my first time here and now I am a member. The price is very reasonable and they have different packages you can purchase. I started with a 1 month unlimited trial and liked the privacy here. There are so many rooms here that there is almost no waiting time which is perfect for me. The staff did a good job explaining everything to me since it was my first time. This facility is also clean and there is plenty of parking out front or even on the side facing Sam's Club. I also like how this business is open 7 days a week for people like me who are very busy with work and life in general. They do close for an hour everyday in the middle of the day so check the hours listed to make sure you show up before or after the hour break. Ive been a long time customer and when i went in to get started on my tan for summer, an employee that ive never seen there before was very rude, frustrated, anxious, and not in the mood for customers. Her knowledge of the products and computer were horrible. I wanted to know prices but she started talking about $45 membership fee on top of a monthly fee, which is actually too high. I asked about a per tan cost and she started off by mentioning a point club card type system. ..i just want a tan I said, and she got mad and said yes i know that maam. I said nevermind and walked out...as i was walking out, she sarcastically said have a nice day. Btw they have me in their system 3 times..need to clean up your records. When i was there late last year, the fans on some of the beds didnt work so the beds get too hot. ..old beds and they want to charge you higher than salons in Hermosa. Wont we back. I've always been against/scared of fake tanning... aka getting into a tanning bed. They just seem claustrophobic and I feel like I'm on the road to skin cancer. BUT, my birthday is coming up and I was in desperate need of a tan, so my boyfriend and I decided to try this place out. We were referred by a friend here and cop-a-tan had pretty good reviews so we thought, why not! When we first arrived, we were greeted by Sasha who was working the front desk. Keep in mind that my bf and I are completely new to this so we had no idea how this worked! Sasha explained everything to us over and over until we understood, and was very patient and helpful. There are literally about 12 different rooms with different tanning beds (and some where you just stand up, that's the one I did). There are different levels of tans and depending on what your natural skin tone is (pale, fair, medium, dark) you might need more base coats than others. Since I naturally have a medium skin tone base, she told me I wouldn't need to do multiple base coats before getting the tan. (TBH, I'm still not completely sure how this all works so you still might want to call Cop-A-Tan to get the right info!) If you want to get one tan, it's about $15. If you want the most basic membership that allows you to use certain tanning beds, it's $33/month (my BF got this one). But, if you're like me and tanning beds freak you out, you can get a membership for $49/month that allows you to use the stand up tanner (it is a bit small and claustrophobic in there so I would NOT recommend if small spaces freak you out! I don't usually get freaked out by tight spaces but this was a bit too much for me, esp. for it being my first time LOL.) Also, the stand up tanner takes 10 min and you would only need to come in 1-2x a week to keep up w the tan. If you go with the tanning beds, they take about 15-20 min/session and you need to come in more frequently, maybe 3-4x a week. But, again, it might depend on your skin tone and how well your skin holds onto the tan! I think this place is a great place to come if you need a natural looking tan. Oh, and be sure to bring your own sunscreen/tanning lotions! I saw a ton of bottles on the shelves that look like they have been used? But idk if you have to pay to borrow/use those? Just bring your own lol. BTW.. there's an initiation fee of like $180 if you become a member... but Sasha was so sweet and didn't charge us for initiation! read more

I'm an occasional tanner for special events and had my account frozen to avoid the costly sign up membership fees. So every month 5 bucks and change is charged from my account. Well after 1 year the account needs to do the following: (I know this now) 1) go into the facility and have your account frozen again 2) go into the facility and cancel the membership 3) go into the facility and reactivate your membership We all get busy and forget how fast 12 months can go by. Well I noticed a charge for 75.80 last month from my account from Cop a Tan. I called to figure out what happened. I spoke with the rudest manager ever!!! When I asked for a refund she told me very unprofessionally, it's in your contract, didn't you read your contract. When asked to speak to the manager her reply firmly was, I am the manager! So I went on to say okay well I would like to cancel my membership to avoid anymore chargers for services never rendered. Because it was October 1st and I was at work (nurse 12hr shifts) I could not make it in to the facility to cancel until the next day. The manager went on to inform me of there 30 day cancel policy and because it's already the 1st of the month I would be charged another 75.80 for November. Really!!! Cop a Tan is not only ran by unprofessional managers but completely unwilling to accommodate to loyal customers. BAD BUSINESS!!! Please don't tan from them! There's a wonderful place in hermosa on PCH that has friendly staff and a professional ownership. Just don't want this to happen to anyone else. I understand contract and my responsibility but to be charged an additional month and pay 151.60 for not tanning one time is a shame on this business. read more

I stopped in here after printing out a free week of tanning coupon online. I wanted to get a few tans in for my February Engagement Photos. The receptionist showed me around the place and sort of explained my other options, and tried to upsale me... I wanted the free week of tanning and then possibly take it from there... Explained that its soooo much better the get the more $$$ tans, less time in bed. Anyways, she then explained that I had been to a cop a tan before so couldnt use the coupon. I decided i could find a cheaper place elsewhere, and didnt want to spend $20 to get 1 one time session... when i am sure i needed a few session to show a difference... I left... Let me preface this with pointing out that I am currently the duchess of this place, so I've been a few times. This won't last long because I am canceling my membership. I liked it at first, even though it was unnecessarily pricey. It is close to my house and convenient. I used to tan at U CA TAN in Hermosa (Awesome place, go there!), but moved and it was a little too far to drive to consistently. Shortly after starting tanning I started noticing the skin on my arms was starting to flake in weird patches and it actually looked even worse with a tan because the skin underneath was so light that it stood out horribly. I initially thought that maybe I just had some kind of reaction to the new lotion or something, so I switched. It came up in conversation with a friend of mine shortly after because it started getting worse. I had stopped going by this time because it just made my skin look worse. Then my friend told me that her friend had something that looked just like it and it turned out to be fungus she got from a tanning bed........ lovely. I immediately went in to suspend my membership until I could get into the doctor. When I explained to the girls at the front and showed them what I was experiencing the one girl kept saying I probably just have eczema and that I should just buy a new lotion and try a different bed. She was really pushy. The other shorter girl was much more sympathetic and understanding. I stood my ground against the first girl and froze my account. So, go to the doctor, yup, fungal skin infection. Now my skin looks ugly and I have to rub anti-fungal cream on myself several times a day. Awesome..... I called today and spoke to Mike. I wanted to give them a chance to say something before I not only cancel my membership, but leave this very negative review. He basically told me he had never heard of it happening at their location before and it has nothing to do with the cleanliness of the beds, some people are just prone. So basically, even though I've never had issues anywhere in the past, I am now a fungal breeding ground. He again tried to tell me I should switch beds and keep my membership. This is a great location with a great staff...however they don't change the bulbs on their beds. I was thinking maybe it's just me but while speaking with a few others in the lobby while waiting to check in they said the exact same thing. That's why I froze my membership last year, but I thought by now they would be better. No dice. I hate to have to try a new place because Cop a Tan has the market in the South Bay for tanning spots, but unless you have time to go every single day hoping for a change in color (which I don't) I may have to think about doing that. Please owner change your bulbs! Updated Review: I was contacted by the CEO Wayne. He was very kind and stated he would look into the bulb situation, and not only did he fix it, he kept me informed and apologized for the human oversight. It's been a few months and I've been searching for a new tanning salon. I think I finally found it! I used to go to Le Beach Club but when the employees changed the customer service wasn't as good. I also tried a tanning salon in North Carolina and had an AWFUL experience. I was afraid to try any other salons. However, as my skin got pastier, I started really missing the relaxing tropical scented experience of a tanning bed and the beautiful bronze color it produced. I started looking at reviews on Yelp and decided to give this one a try. I was not disappointed! Mike was wonderful and thoroughly explained all of my tanning options and answered any questions. He was super friendly and fun to talk to. I'm not a picky person and never give workers a hard time, but if I come in smiling and friendly, I appreciate being treated the same way in return. Maybe it's because I worked front desk for hotels for a few years, but tanning salon employees should at least smile and be friendly (without seeming fake and stuck-up please). No snobby people here so far. The place is large, so there is rarely any wait time but you can also call and reserve a room. Freebies include Starbursts at the front desk, cute stickers you can use while tanning so you can monitor your color, and an Andes mint on your pillow. The lotions are super expensive but I decided to splurge as a birthday present to myself. I would recommend buying lotion elsewhere, especially since the same lotions are much cheaper online. I was in a super good mood so I just forked the money over for it. I only paid for a month so I can see how I like it, but I have a feeling I will be a long term customer. The scummiest of all tanning places. Just the lowest quality you could ever waste your money on. The poor front desk girl looks oppressed, she doesn't even have internet on the computer to show me other beds on the company website. It's not her fault! Poor vibes from management. The decor is super 90's and so are the beds! The groupon ad shows a higher level bed that what you get. It's for level 5 or 7 which you would think is high, but it's not because there are 12 levels or something absurd. You get a 10 min standup or a 15min lay down bed. I don't mind a 10 min standup, they are USUALLY super fast and work well. I've gone 4 times and I've seen no color change. I'm up to the max 10 mins and no color. WTF! The fan is like a cyclone so you can't even get warm in there. The bulbs need to be changed not because they are weak but because there is also one bulb out. Oh and if you're short, forget it, you can't reach the stupid start button. I did 13mins in the lay down bed and barely got warm, but no color. The lay down bed plastic is loose and squeaky like you're going to break it, they wipe the bottom panel but not the top because I saw residue. You're laying there and it's making grinding noises like it's struggling or going to blow up! LOL Just absolute rubbish. Don't waste your time or money. Yucatan and the Tanning Spot are a step above. Oh, and they never sweep or mop the floors. I'll show you pictures of the standup room. EEEEK! This place is a joke and an example for tanning salons on what not to do! You won't be turning groupon customers into real ones, cus you don't show any value to buy more sessions. I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

So, I am naturally tan but literally 2 MONTHS before my wedding I got sunburned and my shoulder started to peel. All I could think about was in all of those pictures my fiance and I paid for I would have a huge splotch. Someone refereed Cop-A-Tan and I figured I had no real choice because spray tan dont really last I hear. The plus was the girls working there were super nice and made me feel comfortable but they did convince me to buy lotion which I guess is more shame on me because I came home and my fiance told me I really didn't need it with my complexion. With their help I did get rid of the pale blotch on my shoulder before the wedding, now I am just stuck with a tube of tanning lotion I'll probably never use again. read more

All the 5 star reviews for this place have got to be fake! This place is a total ripoff!!! This location doesn't have ANY of the beds that are shown on their website. The beds they have are old beds and are totally overpriced. They don't tell you this until after they charge you. Their prices are a complete ripoff. The girl at the front desk could barely keep a straight face when she told me the price for what I thought was the Magic 636 bed (shown on their website) was $75 for one session! I found a $20 off coupon online and would have been willing to pay $55 only because I had time to kill while my Yorkie was at the groomers. After I paid she took me to a room with what looked like a very old regular tanning bed that looked identical as their next level down bed. Then I asked for a refund and she said she couldn't do it because the manager was on vacation! This place should be shut down for misleading advertising. I have been to many different tanning salons and have NEVER been charged more than $40 for one session - and that is for the top of the line brand new beds. Hopefully the customers that were there overheard me and will go online to see the prices and beds at other salons and take their business elsewhere. read more
