Excellent, beautiful, clean facility! I have been going here for about a year and have absolutely zero complaints. Sergio the front desk manager is the friendliest accommodating associate that helps you out with all of your self care needs! He suggested doing the sauna and then the cryotherapy chamber and my body is grateful for it. read more

I've been going to The Tanning Spot/Cryowellness for over a two years now and I really enjoyed the services they offer. From tanning booths, spray tanning, saunas, red light therapy to cryotherapy they offer a lot of diversity in choices as well as pricing structures (from day to weekly to monthly). The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly (shout out to Sergio, Daisy and Ali) and the facilities always clean and sanitized. They have great hours seven days a week so it makes it easy to pop by for a session. read more

This place is ridiculous to ask customers to tip when the machines did all the work and you just sat on the stool the whole time , even more ridiculous for the business owner to come onto Yelp and instead of taking criticism, she would rather much embarrass herself and fight with clients. And who cares if she's a "college girl" or not, pay her more if that's the case ! ALL YOU DID was sit on a stool. Oh, and change your fine print on Groupon, it does NOT say for first time buyers, how embarrassing that your employee had to show me through Microsoft WORD that was just barely typed out. It HAS to say on Groupon not bullcrap Microsoft word Response to the owner: Not even Groupon states first time buyers, nor do you guys. A review doesn't just have to be about your machines, but of how the place is ran. And it's a good thing you trained your front desk girls about the machines and how to explain to clients, isn't that why you gave them a job and get paid hourly? Not even bartenders ask for a tip and that's where tipping originally started with. Stop making people feel pressured, pay those girls more if you think they are doing such a "good job!" read more

The Tanning spot is so awesome now that they do Cryowellness! I especially want to shout out Sergio and Ali you guys are great!

--- It was my first time trying both cryotherapy and red light therapy. Sergio was fantastic--he explained everything clearly and gave some great tips. I'll definitely be going back and highly recommend checking them out! read more

It has been over a year since I subscribed to The platinum membership. It's my sacred place to relax and restore. I am not going as much as I would like to as I honestly could go every single day. But despite the commute, I make it a weekly priority. And, whenever I have an event, they have everything to help me glow for it. Sergio nurtures my visits and always has kind French words with me. His whole team is sweet and it's a pleasure to seeing him at each visit. Red light therapy, infrared sauna, cryotherapy, leg pressure massage, tanning, face red light therapy, spray tan and even teeth whitening are services you will find at this unique South Bay location. I highly - highly - did I say highly? Recommend!!!! read more

To start with, parking is excellent. First time guest and Sergio was amazing. Took me on a tour and explained all the different services they have. I purchase a Groupon for cryotherapy but decided to purchase and try their red light sauna system as well. Place is very clean and they provide everything you need. Spent 30 minutes in the sauna and from there I did the cryotherapy. According to my Apple Watch I burnt about 700 calories and I loved both sessions. Cryo was at a negative 119 F. Much easier for me than a cold shower and my sciatica pain was greatly reduced. Go check it out. You will be glad you did read more

I highly recommend visiting this place if you're looking to achieve your goals and expectations. It's conveniently located near the ocean, with nice restaurants and a market nearby. I find the prices to be fair. Whether you want to get a good tan or reduce weight and inflammation in the sauna, this spot is perfect. I love coming here occasionally! read more

I have noticed drastic, positive changes in my overall health and wellbeing since joining The Tanning spot. I do not tan, however I can testify that the poly redlight has reduced wrinkles and signs of aging...I am actually saving money due to needing less aesthetic treatments from the collagen buildup! My weight and bloating have gone down after three months of compression therapy and infrared sauna use. My energy level has also drastically gone up, and I was able to stop drinking coffee after two months. The staff is attentive, friendly, and work hard. Sergio the owner is honest, fair, and truly cares about the wellbeing of his clients. The atmosphere is laid back, very clean and well-kept. 10/10 read more

Really had a bad taste in my mouth when I left here recently. First time in here for a quick spray tan before my vacation. The facilities were fine, nothing super fancy. It did the job. The girl showed me how to use the machine... It was as I was leaving, the guy at the front desk asked me if I wanted to leave a tip for the girl who showed me how to push the buttons on the machine, while she was standing there. It was so tacky and put me on the spot. Not cheap by any means, and this felt schlocky. Tipping should be for excellent above and beyond service and never put the customer on the spot. First and last time. read more

Have had a membership for almost 2 years. Friendliest and knowledgeable staff by far. This is not just tanning. Go for the top membership if you plan to use all of the services offered. Well worth the money if you're going to use them all. The best is to do multiple services in one visit and you feel like you just hit the spa! I have looked for different places closer to where I live 12 minutes away but none of them even compare. read more

My favorite tanning spot! SUPER clean, best beds around and can get a year round spray tan with unlimited sprays for a monthly membership which has different levels that include red light, blue light therapy, versa spa, regular lay down tropical style beds, stand up beds, sauna and Cryogenic tank!! You can do it all here and it's an nice break from a long day and to get your summer tan on!!!! Plus keep that vitamin D up all year which helps us all feel good Sergio is the BEST, love him he always makes me smile and is the reason I've been going there for a couple years now. I'm a very happy member of the tanning spot. read more

Totally weird experience. Read the other negative reviews, it's all true. The odd customer greeting, "you've been here before- not a first time customer like your Groupon is for" to the tipping request- two times... never again read more

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Living in excruciating pain in all my joints for over 30 years. Recently my knees have been the worst, needing help to get around and laid up in bed for days at a time in tears. Well I decided to do something to try to get out of this chronic pain. This wellness spa has really changed my life...Sergio is so amazing, he has taken me through a whole routine and up lifted me ever step of the way. I love this spa, I feel better then I've felt in a long time. My pain is almost gone. Not only has it physically helped me but mentally as well. People ask me "what are you doing cuz you look Fantastic". Thank you for everything but mostly thanks to Sergio, without him I'd be lost. He tells me how great I look and my whole demeanor has changed. Sergio is what makes this spa worth coming to, always smiling and really giving his all. Makes everyone feel comfortable. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Sergio, your the best. read more

I came to this place for just a tanning salon but it's actually so much more. There's so many different services they offer. My favorite is the sauna and cryo. I could spend every day here, it is so worth it. The tanning beds are super nice quality. Everything is very hygienic and clean. The staff are super nice and welcoming. They show you how to use everything. I defenilty recommend!! It is so relaxing and feels luxury there. I am obesssed! read more

IMHO, the best place of its kind in SoCal! They have the best equipment and the kindest, most professional staff -- especially Sergio! I come for the cryo and sauna and stay for the always fresh gourmet coffee and snacks. Another big plus is the late hours! These people really aim to please, and in my experience exceed way beyond reasonable expectations. Highly recommended!!!!!!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about the Tanning Spot! First of all, the location is amazing; overlooking the Hermosa pier skyline, convenient private parking lot right behind the facility. The studio itself is like a Willy Wonka factory of health & beauty therapies: clean and gorgeous, with state of the art equipment. Sergio and his amazing staff are so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable about the wide range of treatments, beds and therapies available here. It's so refreshing to find a business owner who truly cares about helping his clients and isn't just trying to gauge you like a lot of similar places! Whenever I come limping in with an injury or issue, he assesses what's going on and comes up with a customized therapy plan for that day that always blows my mind with the efficacy. As an athlete who deals with muscle spasms among other ailments, I recommend starting with the red light therapy bed, followed by the infrared sauna, followed by cryo therapy. This combination has not only helped me work out muscle spasms, injuries, and fascia adhesions, but also sped healing from a horrible reaction to a bee sting (I am severely allergic) and severe rosacea flare-ups (the awful swelling kind, not the cute rosy cheek kind) I always leave feeling like a new person. A thousand thanks to Sergio and the entire TS staff! You guys are a life-saver & a game changer! read more

Terrible experience. This was my first time here. Went in for a tan and infrared sauna. The manager male in charge was especially short and rude with me. First he assigned me to an infrared room towards the back that was in a peaceful environment .... When I was ready to go in room, he suddenly changed his mind and put me in the infrared room close to the entrance that was brightly uncomfortably lit and where room was not even at the correct heat temperature: it took 15 min for room to heat up. The first room he showed me was what I wanted, dimly lit and room was at the right heat temperature. Maybe he tricked me into thinking that would be the room I would be staying in so that I agreed to pay. It was a nightmare. Such Poor service. read more

I've been going to the Tanning spot for years because of their amazing manager Sergio. I moved away and still go back! Sergio always has a welcoming smile and makes it easy to schedule which is a blessing for busy people like me! I started with the spray tan, then versapro, red light. They continue to add new services that are always on point! Thank you Sergio for keeping me informed on the compelling promotions going on for the season! read more

I really should have followed the bad reviews and stayed away. I was strong armed into buying a spray tan package (they do not let you just tan, you have to listen a sales pitch which is annoying). I was in for my second time and they said I never bought a package. I could pay for another if I wanted to tan! It was expensive and had to go through all my bank records and there records right there in front of everyone. They finally found they had credited my money to another customer. The whole experience was very embarrassing and insulting. They were looking at me like I was lying and annoyed I holding up the line, when they were completely wrong. I came in for my last tan and no color came out at all. My calls and messages went unanswered. I think these sales tactics are unscrupulous and really wrong. I have never been treated so badly and unprofessionally by a business. read more

Absolutely love this place! I signed up a couple months ago mainly to use the sauna and cryotherapy for after workout recovery. The combination of the two really helps especially if your muscles are sore. I've used the red light therapy as well as the hybrid tanning booth. Both were great. Ali and Sergio are true professionals that know their stuff. The girls that work there are very nice and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this business. I'd give 10 stars if I could! read more

Life has been better since I got a membership with The Tanning Spot! I have a membership package that enables me to mix and match any 4 tanning or spa services every month. I love the flexibility of this package to do different treatments as I like throughout the different seasons! There's so much more than tanning at The Tanning Spot. I'm addicted to the collagen boosting red light booths! I was skeptical, but I credit those treatments to eliminating age spots on my forearms, hands, and face as well as tightening my skin all over! I recently broke my distal tibia and the Poly-Rejuv medical grade red light treatments *I swear* helped my incisions heal faster and reduced the swelling and pain in my foot and ankle! I love a sesh in the sauna "pod" where I sweat out about 600 or so calories, then hit the cryo booth to cool down and boost my immune system! The Tanning Spot is clean and the people are great! Sergio is my guy! He's super knowledgeable and actually uses all of the services on a regular basis so he knows what's he's talking about! He is kind and jovial, too, and he leads the staff in creating a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Member for life! read more

I use to love coming here for a spray tan. There was an employee that would do a spray tan by hand and it would come out flawless. Now the spray tan is done by a machine and it leaves it very unevenly. Can't compare someone taking their time to perfect the color and coverage.
