The weekly morning visit by the garbage truck no longer wakes me, which is both a good and bad thing, given my employer's insistence that I show up at work in a timely manner on Mondays. Peter also installed "shade inserts" in my master bedroom's western-exposure wall of windows. On days such as today, where we hit 92 degrees, the inserts have made a noticeable reduction on my HVAC's demand. I suspect there will be a cost savings in cooling, but it's too soon to tell. More importantly, when I retire for the night, the bedroom is a normal, comfortable temperature, instead of the sweat box that I had before. The indows inserts have provided my home with a more comfortable environment; I suspect they will save me money in the long run.

Sal was true to his word that once we agreed on a price, there were no extra charges along the way. Once the project began, we got to know our project manager, Ishmael - and he is a rock star! We haven't done many large renovation projects, so we were nervous about making a mistake and doing something we would later regret. Ishmael was so patient, understanding, and responsive throughout the entire process. This review is for a 4' x 4' x 1 1/2" walnut slab that Eco Friendly made for our custom dining…read moreroom table. We checked a few other custom woodworking shops and were completely underwhelmed by their service and overwhelmed by their prices. One Saturday morning we visited Eco Friendly and met Scott Petercsak. At that point, we knew we were in the right place. Speaking of the right place, when you pull in, it looks like you're entering someone's driveway. Go slow, admire the horses, and 300 meters further on, you'll see the kiln and sawmill. Wear your boots, bring your coat, and prepare to be amazed. This is a serious operation. Scott showed us at least a half dozen wood choices: walnut, oak, poplar, chestnut, it's just amazing. We chose two 8' walnut slabs. In two weeks, Eco Friendly cut them down, edge-glued them together, and finished them beautifully into our tabletop for $1200. We did not want live edge, but - if you do - they offer countless live edge options. In addition, Scott and his crew seem capable of designing and creating just about anything you can dream of.

He offered one of the lowest prices, he was fair and flexible, and he is a young guy still trying to make his footing in a competitive market. I was upfront and said I do not hand holding like a lot of snowflakes in the DC area, but when I leave a message, call me back in a day or two. And indeed he was always in touch through out the process. Found the slab we liked at East West Marble in Chantilly who had a far better selection than the other supplier that I won't name here. Picked out the color we liked and the job was finished in perfect order 4 days later. Had some issues getting the old tops out because the builder super-super glued down the old ones, but they didn't even put a scratch on the already installed backsplash and left our kitchen spotless.
