Just passing through for a sundae, the staff was very nice - very cute place! They have daily lunch/dinner specials & pie for dessert too.

At the last minute - I felt I needed to provide a meal for our out of town guests. Being a more mature (old) person - I made the initial reservation online With ease. With time the reservation number got larger so I followed up with a call. There was no problem. By the time all my guests arrived the number was even larger and another table was added with no complaint or problem. My guest were made to feel welcome. A special menu was provided for my guests to make personal selections that included appetizers, main meal, salads and desert selections. The main meal had a selection of steaks, salmon, chicken and everybodys favorite - chicken fried steak. Each meal came with a protien selection, starch and vegetable. Every meal was prepared to perfection. The desert selection of a layered chocolate cake or cheesecake topped off the experience. Our server worked hard and efficiently to make everyone happy. Bravo!! Considering this dinner was so last minute PRIME ON THE NINE made each of my guests happy and made my job as a host so easy! Thank you for taking the stress off of me and making this meal an enjoyable experience for all. Definitely two thumbs up!!

Salads (dinner and Caesar) were fresh. Called in advance since we were only traveling through - this was very helpful. Made reservations but didn't really need them. Wait staff was very pleasant and helpful. We sat outside which was perfect as it was breezy. Tables were clean, inside looked nice too.

We shared an order of plain fry bread and another Navajo taco which is fry bread with some fresh taco-like toppings. The fry bread was interesting! It was lightly sweet, with a crispy exterior but a doughy interior. The taco version came topped with ground beef, whole beans, tomatoes, lettuce, and onions. I appreciated the freshness of the ingredients but it definitely sogged up the fry bread. I much preferred the original. Two dishes held us (4 people) over quite well for the remainder of the afternoon. I'm taking off a star simply because of service - it was kind of weird but we also kind of expected it because of the location? We clearly had 4 people but we only got 1 place setting. We were also told to sit at a table but then had to order at the counter anyways? Oh well. Mexican Water Trading Post is the only thing at this location besides the gas station and the 7-11 like market. Open everyday 8am to 8:30pm.

It was then I remembered glancing at a huge Beef Processing Plant just on the edge of town...think it was called National Beef... And then it hit me: Cattleman's Cafe + Beef Processing Plant...maybe...just maybe..they served steak here That's how I found myself sitting inside this Midwestern country diner. The description on the menu-- Uncle Ed's Steak sounded legitimate. So I had me a rib eye, with a side of corn and Brocolli. Then to start off, some Bloomin Onions. Rating: Ok, I'm going to be real honest, the quality of the beef is *Good* Its on the level of USDA Choice Select, but it IS fresh. Like I can enjoy the natural flavors of the Beef, it's not drenched in marinade and just the overall taste spelled decent quality. Now, because back in the days, I would go out to Costco and pick up USDA Prime Ribeyes three or 4 cuts at under 45.00 (those were the good times). But it wouldn't be fair to compare this to that so for a standard family run affair, this place serves pretty solid steak. Though however the chef kinda went on the rarer side for my Medium Rare and if the cuts have so much fat marbling in them, it probably would be better for the steak to be grilled longer on the fat tissues. The corn sides were a little to sweet and wished they either cut down on the sugar, or use some heavy whipping cream or half and half to balance that sweetness out-- like real creme corn. The Bloomin Onions were a surprise. Over the past decades, I'd probably only order this appetizer at say Outback Steakhouse, but this dish does take the prize for a worthy starter here at the Cattleman's. Overall, server was very locked in. True country hospitality, think her name is Naziah. Kudos! Great service! And anyone ever driving through town, give this place a go.
