I was hospitalized there after going to ER. Everyone who I came in contact with were super kind and treated me with respect.

Be sure to ask how much your xray will cost you. I had two chest xrays that cost $933. Never going there again.

Prompt and curteous. But you many need to wait a few hours if there are worse cases in front of you.

Nonetheless, and found most of the nurses provided proficient care, and made me feel more comfortable about undergoing surgery. Especially commendable were Alex and Sabine, two nurses who interviewed me during my pre-anesthesia visit in May. I was also very surprised and elated to receive a thank you note from the entire OR staff of nurses, nurse anesthesiologist, Dr. Nuzzo, the wonderful and skillful orthopedic surgeon who performed the surgery, and his PA-C, Jared Haymore. Their thoughtfulness, and kind and compassionate patient care is definitely appreciated and commendable! Thanks to all of you for your exceptional care!!!

And both times, the nursing and support staff were wonderful and caring. The room was clean and comfortable and the night staff did their tasks without being overbearing or disruptive to the much needed rest. And the "hospital" food was actually quite tasty. And I had a couple of lunches in the downstairs cafeteria. The food was very good and fairly priced. She had absolutely no problems with check-in, pre-op, surgery, post-op recovery and her one-bed room. We have nothing but praise for the nurses and other support staff. Any issue she had was immediately addressed and resolved. They kept her an extra day to make sure her vitals were up to normal levels. Any questions I had were answered quickly and fully. So we knew she was in good hands. I know a lot of people prefer other local hospitals, but we have absolutely no reason to go somewhere else for planned or emergency health care.

I was crying and yelling so hard from the pain I was in, that I had to be put on Dilaudid, Valium, Decadron, and Morphine - along with different types of GI cocktails. It was the ONLY relief I'd had since all of this started. I couldn't swallow food or water for multiple more days after my horrible visit at Oro Valley ER because they did absolutely NOTHING to take care of me. This other hospital though, went the extra mile with everything they did and ensured I was as comfortable as possible, did an endoscopy (and found that my esophagus is very chemically burned), kept me on IV fluids, and IV pain meds for a few days until I was able to go home. Plus I was sent home with MULTIPLE prescriptions to help me heal and minimize the severe pain. If you find yourself in Portland, OR - Providence St. Vincent's is a #1 ER/hospital. Oro Valley? I couldn't have asked for a worse experience. Get your shit together and take care of your patients.

Hearing a doctor saying loudly enough for me to hear him saying, "ok, Let's try not to kill anybody tonight" to the nursing staff... well that to me was very unprofessional. I made an appointment for 10pm (FYI, don't bother with appts, they ignore them) There were perhaps two other patients. I went thru triage quickly, and was told to wait in empty hallway. In a plastic chair. I eventually went back for x-rays, and then returned to the empty hallway. About 20 minutes later, a physician (? - I dont believe he introduced himself), came out and said on initial read, he did not see a fracture, but due to the amount of pain, he wanted a more detailed look. Then I sat in that same empty hallway in that crappy plastic chair for another 45 minutes. Nothing. No "we'll be with you shortly" - NOTHING. I could hear the staff laughing and talking. I am not a "Karen," I don't complain about every little thing. EVER. But after nearly an hour, I'd finally had enough, and packed up my stuff to leave. I never raised my voice, although it was probably clear I was annoyed. Then a nurse came out, and explained to me in a VERY patronizing tone that the doctor had "other patients." I pointed out that all that was needed was for someone to just say "we know you're here," and I would've been happy to wait. That particular nurse was so condescending and rude, it was all I could do to contain my verbal response. She seriously acted like my request for very occasional updates was an outlandish request - I come from a medical family - my father was a combat medic, my husband is A RETIRED RN. I treat health care professionals like gold. But I have never been treated like this by any doctor, nurse or the guy who empties bed pans. RUDE. i do not have great insurance, that's probably a reason they just left me in the hallway. In the meantime, I cannot wear shoes, I cannot drive. And I STILL DON'T KNOW if my foot is broken. I will NEVER return to that hospital. If I'm bleeding to death, they might just leave me in the hallway.
