I think this place is a good party for young people to choose. Open-air barbecue will create a good relaxed atmosphere. There are also a number of separate salon activities and sports bar for customers to participate. This rich sense of experience will make people feel great. Ate there last night. Food delivery was slow. I had the 10oz sirloin steak and my girlfriend had a burger. After waiting for 15-20 minutes after we ordered, the food arrived. You could clearly tell the cheese burger had been under a heat lamp for a while. My steak was the oddest piece of sirloin I have ever seen. It looked like it was a odd end of something. It was full of gristle and over cooked. They also added a $1.50 up charge for the "loaded" backed potato. Not that it's a lot of money but being told would have been nice. I have been several times- and, while unfortunate.. is probably still one of the better choices of what is offered in this town- all I have to say about tonight is WHAT THE H@LL? There were no more than 8 tables total- a group upstairs but who's taking care of them? I count at least 3 servers plus a hostess down here. I have been here well over an hour- took 20 minutes to get my order taken- 30 + minutes to get a Pork Chop- granted a thick one but really? 30+ minutes?? No matter how long you cook it- it's still over cooked- I'm not blaming the server- I'm blaming management- which seem non existent tonight- nice side note- they automatically add 15% for tip to the bill- what incentive is that for above and beyond service from ANYONE on staff? I give Copper Steer a solid 3.5. I came here with my boyfriend and ordered the salmon. The service was very friendly, and our waitress was attentive. She suggested a bottle of wine and we took her up on it.. it was pretty tasty! My salmon was good. It wasn't anything to write home about but certainly was not bad. I was a little disappointed in my side salad, the lettuce wasn't as crisp and fresh as I'd have preferred. The reason we are not giving them a higher score is because the BF was not as happy with his steak. From my POV, it did look pretty thin, and he said it was very overdone. I didn't try it for obvious reasons. Based on other reviews it seems like their steak preparation is hit and miss, so hopefully you come on a good night! Pro tip: get the salmon read more

Mesquite bbq smell was heavenly walking into the Copper Steer. Had a seat near the bbq pit so we were able to watch our food being cooked. Our waitress was very nice and brought us our drinks right away. Husband had the steak and scallops which were both cooked perfectly to request. I had shrimp and scallop combo which was also cooked perfectly. Caesar salad was good, and you could tell the little bread pillows in the basket were fresh made. I did notice on the bill that there was a tip line for the waitress and a tip line for the cook, which I have never seen before. All in all a very good experience. read more

Food is a bit pricey. Ordered a burger with Green Chile but the Chile was tasteless and fries were undercooked. One thing I don't like at all is that they add gratuity to your check automatically. I find that this place is really hit or miss whether it be the service or food. read more

It seems ironic that a place in a smaller town would happen to have the BEST HAMBURGER I HAVE EVER HAD. My Dad is a hamburger fiend and after I convinced him to get try BBQ burger there, he too agreed that it was the best burger he has ever had--and he has eaten a lot of burgers in his lifetime! Both the regular burger and BBQ burger are fantastic. I have never liked BBQ much and never had a BBQ burger that I actually liked much until this one. Seriously, it really is amazing! Everything here is good. I also LOVED their raspberry salmon salad (don't just get the salmon alone; it wasn't particularly good only because it wasn't fresh salmon, but pre-frozen) and the T-bone Steaks are great. read more

i agree with everyone else that it is the best steak house in Safford. I thought our waitress was on task and friendly. She kept refilling my ice tea any time it looked low and I appreciate that, It is one of my pet peeves that waiters and waitresses neglect your drinks once you are served. Anyway, the steak was good although pricey for the size. It was on the thin side but still cooked medium rate like I like it. It tasted really good. I wish I could have afforded a bigger piece. The salad bar had an average amount of items, however. many of the items, including the onions, broccoli, lettuce pieces, and were cut in sizes too big. I know the chef has to be in a hurry so to save time they do not cut up the vegetables into smaller pieces. It is another pet peeve of mine....Pieces that are too big. Would I go back? Dad, Bro, Sis and I went in last night on the very posiive recommendation of friends and family. What a disapointment. First off, the place reeked of mesquite smoke, so much in fact that the smoke alarm went off every ten minutes or so. The salad bar? Nothing to write home about. My medium rare New York Strip was lukewarm and raw in the inside, as was my brother's. The "certified Angus" beef lacked flavor. Our fries were cold. And my father's scallops were well over the edge and should never have been served. The scallop's texture suggested thawing and freezing over and over. The scallops had an off flavor that not even a heavy squeeze of lemon could hide. On a positive note, my Sister's grilled chicken was properly grilled and nicely seasoned. In short, this was probably an off night. I will try Copper Steer again, because this type of restaurant is sorely needed in the Gila Valley. Great layout, good location and hella potential. Oh yeah, it's about 24 hours later, and my fleece hoodie REEKS OF MESQUITE. It's called "adequate ventilation." read more

My husband I ate here and I ordered a steak with veggies and a side of jumbo shrimp and I was very disappointed in the portion size! The steak seemed low quality and it was so small. I'm a visitor to Safford every couple years. Safford is not a culinary rich city. Not hating, just stating a fact. Copper Steer is a definite cut above the other local choices. Reasonable pricing, large portions, and a few healthy choices. Service was friendly, pace could be a little faster. It would be smart for them to add WiFi to take advantage of the instant buzz of social media. Cool little sports pub with big nice TVs on the second floor where you can choose from the full menu. Met the owners so it's a small family business. I saw a few reviews where something wasn't right with a meal. My guess is they would graciously fix any issue. Also beware of the auto charge 15%... they don't show it on the receipt you sign but it is on the customer copy. Have you ever had one of those dinning experiences where every choice is wrong? it leaves you barfing and in tears? This was one of those. The place was recommended by the front desk girl at the hotel I stayed at. I walked into the Copper Steer and was met by very nice wait staff. They gave me three choices; dinning room, bar, or sports pub. I chose the sports pub. Well it did have tvs, but the cowboy music was so loud that I couldn't watch the baseball game. The menu was rather small in selection and a bit too expensive. I ordered the Black Angus Bacon Cheeseburger. It must have been cooked last Saturday it was dry and crispy. The bacon was like little charcoal bits. It was over seasoned with garlic salt, really over seasoned. Thank God, because I think I bit into a toenail. No! Really, I took it outside and looked at it in the Sun after my meal. Oh, the French Fries were good, but they are pretty hard to get wrong; Open the plastic bag, put in a single layer on the baking sheet at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Then, I went back to my hotel room where the barfing and crying ensued. read more

I've been here several times and each time the service is lack luster which isn't unusual for the Gila Valley. Tonight we came with 4 adults and 3 children under 5. Prior visits were met with warm bread and butter which was missing this visit and never made an appearance even after steaks were ordered and stated in the menu that it was provided with an order. Apparently there is an ice shortage here because drinks were refilled without adding ice so soda was warm in a cup. Had to ask several times for lemons for our iceless water and still was never delivered. All the adults ordered dinner salads and a sampler appetizer to start. One salad came and away went the waitress. 15 min passed and we got 2 more salads after having to request them. Requested our 4th salad that was originally ordered and it finally came about the time the appetizers came. The sampler was missing one of the menu items listed and that menu item didn't show up until the entrees arrived. Finally the food arrived and burgers which come with your choice of fries, sweet potato fries, or onion rings were missing leaving just the burger on the plate. One of the kids meals was missing completely and the waitress brought fries when applesauce was ordered. Notifies our poor waitress that we were missing a whole kids meal and sweet potato fries from both burger entrees and she proceeded to ask if our burgers were missing fries. Why yes, yes they were. Went ahead and cancelled our fries because by the time she came back around both burgers were all but gone. Kids meal finally came and although the chicken strips were hand breaded they were fried a nice dark black. At that point I gave up and the check finally came and that was that. We don't make it hear but maybe once a year and now I know why. The food was good but having to beg for most of it was less than fantastic. read more

I want to first start by saying the customer service is great, I was greeted by the owner Mr. Parrish and he is such a kind a welcoming person. I had a huge craving for some good ribs and that's not what I end up getting, I instead got some amazing, succulent and excellent tasting ribs exceeding my expectations! The take out order was cold, probably because it was sitting on the counter prior to the time I entered and was still there 15 minutes as I stood and waited to be helped. Or acknowledged. "I will go check on your order" resulted in a lengthy wait and no comment when he returned to the host stand- where the food was sitting already mind you. Later when a ticket was presented to me as I paid i casually asked how much longer do you think it might be which was when I discovered that was it on the counter. Hmmmmm. So did the wielder of the ticket proceed to ready that food? Would it entertain you to know that she did not? Instead she walked away? The host was still there minding to his book. The food sitting ignored about 20" behind him. Now we are at 45 minutes since I called in the order that was purported to take 20 minutes "but (they) would call if ready sooner!" So after discovering that poor deserted dinner was in fact the one I was seeking i asked the host if he would mind handing it to me (keep in mind I paid about 5 minutes ago). So he hands me four stacked go containers. No utensils. No napkins. No bag for that matter. Do you think I was surprised when I got back to my motel room with no butter for the baked potatoe. No salads with ranch on both and no dinner bread? Do you think I was surprised it was ice cold? Nah not so much. Well spent $65 if I do say so myself. You have been warned. This is my favorite place ever!!! Since the moment we walked in to the time we ordered our dessert (the Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownie)!!! We started with a pomegranate margarita and a crispy and tasty vanilla porter, calamari sticks, and grilled jalapeño poppers!!! Sooo good!!! Then we ordered a Porterhouse cooked medium (it was cooked to perfection) and a Salmon Spinach Salad (super fresh) with the homemade baked rolls!!! We finished our date night with a cosmo martini and a Copper Steer mule!!! BTW for all those light beer drinkers the Michelob Ultra draft is the coldest and most affordable in town!!!!! read more

I travel to Safford for my job and have been coming to the copper steer for 2-3 dinners a month for a couple of years. Normally I receive decent food and service. However, that ended tonight when I received a moldy baked potato. When pointed out to the waitress, I was assured that I would not be expected to have to pay for moldy food. This seemed acceptable to me (since it is a health hazard)...I understand that mistakes happen. However, the manager never came to apologize and then literally re-rung up my salmon entree as an ala cart meal and only took off the cost of an ala carte potato. The waitress did not even apologize! This tells me that not only does the staff not care, nor does the management. I will be taking my money elsewhere going forward. read more

Best steakhouse in Safford hands down. My steaks are always phenomenal and cooked just the way I like. Cooked over an open mesquite pit gives it amazing flavor. The best restaurant in town. Everything is grilled over an open pit Mesquite Grill. The steaks cut like butter. Their ribs are fall off the bone and their burgers are ground in house with ribeye and sirloin steak!! They have a saloon downstairs and a sports bar upstairs . Both make excellent drinks. All from scratch! They offer 13 beers on tap. Very attentive service. The exposed beam work turns it into a warm ambiance. We will definitely return for more! read more

Please note that Monday - Thursday they don't open til 4pm. Their website says 3pm which we found out the hot way. We went back at 4. The ambiance is very much our taste. Old west cowboy style. The veggie beef soup had great flavor but was overpowered by pepper. Still worth it if you like pepper. The salad bar is designed to allow you to customize your side salad. It is not an attempt at being a meal. I appreciated the option of customizing. We both had steak. My guy had the ribeye med rare. It was done perfectly. The flavor was good. I had the t bone. It was cooked to a decent med rare. It had the texture of being brined in salt water before grilling. It was good but not great. The zucchini that was served with dinner was perfect in all aspects. My family and I were in town for a funeral and decided to go out for a nice dinner on Friday the 8th. The place was very busy. Our waitress apologized and said it was because they had just opened the sports bar upstairs. Despite the wait the food was excellent. It is pricey, but worth it for a once in while nice dinner type place. If you are going to get an appetizer I recommend the hot wings. Some of the best I've had in awhile. The steaks were cooked just as ordered. They were nice and tender and very tasty. But what I really want to comment on is the service. Our waitress Sally was awesome!!! Even though we did have to wait she never neglected to check on us to see if we needed more drinks or to just let us know how the order was coming along. I haven't had that good of service in a very long time and it was refreshing to have her as our waitress. I highly recommend this place. read more
