Located in the high desert area of The Gorge, COR Cellars is a beautiful and serene setting. There are several seating areas: a large patio surrounding a garden of native plants with chairs and couches around the perimeter; Adirondack chairs near the vineyard overlooking the grasses and hills; indoors next to a fireplace with sweeping views of the property; and even private tents up on the hill. We were thrilled to be there on one of the first sunny days in a very rainy 2022 Spring, so we sat on the sunny patio with the bright blue skies and native plants as the backdrop. We were greeted with a glass of Cab Franc Rose, which I had never had before, and we both really enjoyed it. We selected the flight since it was our first time having COR wine and we wanted a variety. The flight arrives in a tin bucket with individual carafes of each pour. There were four plus a complimentary pour, so three whites and two reds. Of the whites, the Cab Fran Rose remained my fave and I also enjoyed the Pinot Gris which was crisp and light. I'm a fan of big, bold reds but because of the sun, the red wines got so hot that we couldn't drink them which was really unfortunate. They did include a small bag of ice in the bucket to keep the wines cool but it was no match for the sun. Next time, even if I am tempted by the sun, I will select a seating area in the shade so we can enjoy all of the wines in the tasting. To round out our experience, we ordered the charcuterie for $35. COR continues to be very careful with Covid protocols so the charcuterie is a kit that you put together. Olympic Provisions salami, a box of hearty crackers, Marcona almonds and casteveltrano olives in mason jars, and a soft cheese were provided; all delicious. Service was warm and friendly, they answered our questions thoroughly. Some customers like to have the staff pour each taste and explain the wine; at COR you pour your own and info on the wines is provided on a card. I prefer it this way so I can drink at my speed and our conversation isn't continuously interrupted with a description of the next wine. Everyone has their own preference but this style works for me. If you happen to have time to venture out to the Dalles area of the gorge, or if you are looking for some fun after a hike, COR has your day covered. I had some family in town and had heard great things about COR, so I made a late afternoon reservation to follow a fantastic hike at Hamilton Mountain. Boy, were we happy we did this! Michelle greeted us in the stunning and warm courtyard on a perfect spring day with some of their sparkling white. This crisp (and not too sweet) treat was a great way to welcome us - and made the walk up to the tent we had reserved - quite enjoyable. Once at our tent, we loved how warm and welcoming the space was, and you can tell much care and attention to design has been taken to heart (cor) here. My family are not huge fans of wine, but we loved every single glass included in the tasting. It was a pleasure to be able to walk around a little under the cozy afternoon sun with sweeping views of the high desert. I cannot wait to return for another experience. Thank you! read more

I saw this winery on TikTok and wanted to go ever since! The tents are what make it stand out from the others. My friend made reservations via email and they were super informative as well as accommodating when we added another person to the party. When we arrived, we were given a glass of wine while we waited to be walked to the tents. Definitely do not wear heels as the ground is uneven. There were two friendly dogs roaming the area. Once we were taken to the tents, we were left alone and there was a card with a phone number in case we needed anything. It was a cold rainy day but the tent had a heater to keep us warm. We were one of the only people there but if it was a busier day, the tents give privacy and make for a more intimate occasion. We did the wine tasting with the picnic plate. Four wines were included in the tasting. We were given the picnic plate ingredients in a bag with the board to set up on our own. My favorite was the Beecher's crackers and Olympia Provisions meat. Friends who are members here invited me along this past weekend, my first time here. Can definitely say it won't be the last- this place was gorgeous and the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. I appreciated how they allowed you space to enjoy. I am far from being a wine connoisseur and there was no pressure here to engage in intense wine conversation or know all the terminology which I appreciated. The wine was fantastic and the pricing is accessible. I see a review with someone pissy about showing up without a reservation and expecting to get a table during covid- have you just found out about the internet and how every establishment has their own rules to safeguard their clientele and their employees that any normal person would check before before "driving 40 minutes"? My partner and I have been members at Cor Cellars since August 2020 and we've really enjoyed our experiences so far. Our first tasting experience there sold us and we joined the cellar club right away. Cor staff are very warm and friendly and the setting is spectacular. The tasting room and surrounding property are gorgeous and you have views of the Gorge and Mount Hood from many vantage points on the property. I will say that Cor's wine is still growing on me. I find Cor's whites to be far better than their reds. In particular, their Sauv Blanc, Chardonnay, and Friulano are crisp, dry, and an excellent value. Because of COVID, the indoor tasting room is still closed so we haven't had the chance to taste inside the facility yet. Looking forward to that once it reopens. First time to Cor, many tastings in our past. Always try to consider if a biz is just having a tough day. But that's a part of what the service world is all about. Bring it, no matter what. We got a flight for 4. And that's it. Zero interaction. $25 per head I can live with but when it came right down to it, that $100 was a tough pill to swallow. Look here's the deal. In terms of value, this is not it. A flight is $25 and the wine is...fine. Their rose is fair, everything else is not incredible. We explored the courtyard, the roof, the tents, and the platforms with seating. The team greeting us did not go into much detail on the winery or the wines. A tasting encompasses 4 individual wines poured into mini carafes placed into a little bucket that you have pour into glasses yourself. So you don't get much insight as to what the wines are, where they're from, or what makes them special. Then there's how they taste - nothing to write home about. This winery had potential but ultimately disappointed us and felt the value was not there. read more

I prefer bigger bolder reds, but I'm walking away with bottles because...they were THAT good. The winery dog had me at HELLO! The views are phenomenal and the vibe is chill. Beautiful setting and friendly service. The white wines were pretty good, but I tend to be drawn to the reds. We were served two reds with our flight. The Cabernet was ok but the blend was bitter and stuck to your teeth and tongue. I've done dozens and dozens of tastings, belong to several wineries and have never experienced a red like this. I couldn't finish it and was very disappointed. The tasting fee is $25 a flight which is definitely on the high side for the quality of wine presented. I appreciated the friendly and accommodating service but, as an avid red wine drinker, I would not recommend this winery if you are a lover of reds. read more

Gorgeous piece of property. We love the chic tasting room--comfortable furniture, a big fireplace and window seating looking out at the amazing view of the mountain and property. They also have a nice outside area with games and plenty of seating. The restrooms were well designed and spotless. The tasting was $10 with generous pours and they kindly offered several more tastings of bottles that they had open. Service was friendly and fairly knowledgeable. We liked that we could sit in the beautiful tasting room and they would bring our next tasting. We weren't in love with the wines, but will definitely return for the experience. I learned a while back that Washington was the second largest producer of wine in the US. I did not know that since I live in CA and well, they produce a lot of damn wine there. It was nice to find a vintner from WA that produces a nice Cabernet Franc that can hold up to a beefy steak. Very earthy, slight hint of berry, but not heavy and in your face like a cab sauvignon. read more

I read an article recently that said there are two types of women in this world, red wine drinkers and white wine drinkers. Red wine drinkers for instance are practical, speak their minds, watch Netflix in bed, and made the game. White wine drinkers live in the moment, are good listeners, watch catfights on HBO, and play the game. I am a red wine drinker. Except when I am at COR. The Alba COR. Whoa. Nelly. This is such an amazing wine. Coming from a lady who does not generally drink a lot of whites, I am always so happy when this white wine makes its way into my mouth. This wine is just different. And refreshing. And something I could probably drink bottle after bottle of in one sitting (although I am old enough now to know better than that). I mean yeah, yeah the rest of their wines are great and impressive... but (for me) they all take a back seat to Alba COR. Go to a tasting and I dare you to walk out of their without purchasing a bottle to take home. Even you red wine drinkers ;-) The tasting room is very chill and relaxing and the crew here is top notch. Both times I have been my group and I have sat outside and they always offer to come outside and pour of wine. Something they certainly don't have to do, but always seem more than happy to make sure you are comfortable and enjoying yourself. I could probably sit on their patio for hours and hours (actually.... I kind of did on my first visit). If you are tasting in the Gorge, do not miss this winery. It is without a doubt one of the best in the area, if not the state. read more

Nice folks but they are unreasonably covid paranoid. This is the first business I've seen that actually has more stringent rules than OR or WA state. We Drove 40 minutes there just to be told they didn't have an open table because they like their tables 20' apart and aren't willing to open their indoor space at all, even though they are allowed 50% capacity. That much fear is not relaxing. I prefer to a business that wants business. read more

Over the past two years I have been reluctant in promoting places I really like, because every time I promote something it becomes popular and then I don't have the same easy access like before. Despite my selfish tendencies, I love to root for the little guys that act big time, that deliver in both product and service. Luke and the group at COR stand tall in a growing region along the Gorge area. They just opened a new tasting room to accommodate a larger number of visitors. Nice open, space, with an artsy country look (like a crate & barrel ad). The wine choices are more here than typical Willamette Valley place because of the drier climate. Beautiful location. Amazing inside seating, fireplace, seating with windows all around. They also have a courtyard with wildflowers you could sit in. You can do table side tasting or at the bar front. The staff were casual and amazing. They didn't talk on & on but they checked on us as needed. Visited for the first time recently and overall wasn't impressed. Two stars if just considering the wine, I gave COR an extra star for their tasting space. Space: There are a variety of seating options with multiple covered areas in addition to the indoor space, which is great in the event of some rain common in the spring/fall. Cozy indoor fireplace and comfy seating options. However, with the exception of a few larger picnic tables, there weren't many safe spaces to set your glass or personal items when seated outside. Warped tables with large gaps and wobbly benches that were more for the design than function invited broken glasses. Wine: $10 flight of five wines--a rose, two whites, two reds. A decent amount of tastes for the price! WIne is hard as it's so subjective to an individual. Although as a primarily red wine drinker, I didn't really enjoy the flight. The whites were too fruity and buttery. The reds didn't have much body or oakiness and were more acidic to my palate. Our group also experienced noticeably small and inconsistent pours. Overall: Beautiful tasting room, staff with nice but not worth the drive from Portland. There are better wineries closer to home. They are dog-friendly, which was a plus for us and they had cornhole available for guests outside. read more

Based on the other reviews of this winery, I clearly must have visited on an off day. Regardless I am basing my review on my experience, not the reviews of others.... so here it is. Of all the wineries we visited on this tour of the Columbia Gorge, and there were many (I came home with close to 50 bottles)........ this was the only one that I paid my tasting fee and left without even the urge to buy one bottle. I was initially intrigued by the inviting front gate and the different than most style of the tasting room.... very clean lines, angular design. Upon entering, we were not greeted.....not a big deal if the place is busy, but there was not a soul at the tasting counter and 2 girls behind it. They were carrying on a conversation and I felt like I had to interrupt in order to initiate a tasting. The tasting itself was good, 6 tastes for $10. We took a seat in the seating area and perhaps that was our mistake, but we literally had to ask for our next taste. I was so put off by the customer service that I don't think I gave the wines a fair shot to impress me..... we paid our tasting fee and left. We likely will not return. read more

I visited Cor Cellars last week and was surprised by the most beautiful engagement I could have imagined! The staff were so nice and friendly and helped play along on the surprise with my fiancé. Amy helped with all of the logistics and even took pictures of the tent and surrounding area to send to my sister. She also offered to put some greenery together to put in the tent. Amy also recommended a great photographer, Emily Woodruff, who was so nice and talented at capturing the special moments! Talk about amazing customer service and going above and beyond!! The tent was absolutely stunning and they have a wonderful heater inside that kept us warm, as snow was on the ground. Everything was picture perfect! I am so thankful for Cor Cellars and their amazing wine and staff (special shout out to Amy). I cannot say enough nice things about them! Thank you for making my special day perfect. My last review was fire-worky positive and if I could adequately describe how much better today's was? Well, I can't. I can't come close. I'll contain myself, but I'll add Claudia and the rest of the staff to my WHAT-I-LOVE-ABOUT-COR list. The entire staff was able to handle a very large crowd on "member pickup day" and make it look easy. You'd expect your glass to end up empty for long periods of time with a handful of people, but with the mob in attendance at COR the staff not only kept us tasting, but succeeded in casually describing the character of each wine. I love the architecture and interior design of this tasting room so much! It's modern and rustic, there's a tribal flair that nods to the Native American heritage of the area, and the winemaker and his wife are as sweet as can be. Miles of beautiful views and a little bit of country with the genuine barn that houses adorable goats and a llama. I've always had great service here plus they're kid friendly and un-pretentious.
