What is happening to Midas Muffler in Sewickley PA? I have been going there since the 1970's for oil changes. I am presently very dissatisfied with their service. I had an appointment on Thursday, June 4 at 11 a.m. I have taken my current vehicle to them since 2021 and have always used high mileage synthetic oil in this vehicle. I had previous service receipts with me but the manager of the shift at the desk said they were not required as I was "in the system". I asked if my tires would be rotated as per standard procedure and was told "yes". I began my wait. I observed the technician place the car up on the lift and saw him change the oil. The car was placed back on the ground. I then asked the manager about the tire rotation and the topping off all the fluids. He stated that "they forgot" and would do it immediately so my vehicle was again lifted and the tires were rotated. I believe that if I was not present, my tires would not have been rotated. I did NOT see them top off the fluids. When they were finished with the servicing, I proceeded to pay. Previous charges for this service were in the range of $70-80. This time it only $42. I immediately knew something was amiss. I then inquired as to why the charges were as low as they were. The manager stated that that was the price for a standard oil change and that was what I needed. He claimed Subaru's did not need synthetic oil even though my vehicle is high mileage. My question is if that this is true, why were my previous oil changes of the synthetic variety? I stated that my previous oil changes were synthetic and then and only then did he examine my previous record. So which is it, synthetic or not? He used standard oil in my vehicle without consulting my records beforehand and I am now concerned that this lower grade oil may give me car issues. I have my vehicle serviced with the intent of alleviating any concerns I may have with its operation. I also understand that the customer is "always right" and that either myself or my records should have been consulted before servicing had taken place. I was then told if I wanted to wait, they would bring my vehicle back in and change the oil again. I declined until I can find out which way to go. Due working on my car never stopped texting on his phone. I told him i had bought tires and they were in the back seat. It took him 20 mins and 3 times looking in my trunk to realize where the tires were. If i so much as look at my phone at work i get fired. This guy doesnt care. Get him out of here read more

Made an appointment to get my PA emissions test, which I have ten days to do after my plates were issued. It's a Saturday. I work full time. I dropped my car off and walked home on a single digit cold day. Walked back to pick it up at the time they said it would be ready, in same cold weather, only to find out that they never did the inspection. It was still sitting in the parking lot almost two hours later. I had an afternoon appointment, so I had to take my car and leave. I work next week and don't have time to get this done. Very unprofessional. No call or apology. read more

The OWNER whose name is Josh messed up my brakes and charged me saying they replaced them but they did not. This happened to a friend of mine also in the past when I told her about it. I had to take it somewhere else to be fixed properly. Good thing I didn't get into a wreck or would have sued. I will never go there again and if you do , request someone other than Josh to work on your car. read more

There are very few places I fully trust when it comes to auto repair, but we are very lucky to have such a great staff at our local Midas shop. Josh is exactly the person you want to deal with when you need a repair. He'll get you in as quickly as he's able, and he's honest and straightforward about everything. And he's a genuinely friendly, good guy. There was an instance where another guy was filling in for a week, and he was just as friendly and competent. One time, my wife decided she needed to make them some cookies because they were so kind when our daughter's car needed repairs! read more

Will never bring my car here again. I brought it here after it ran a couple of codes relating to some sensor issues. Was told I would need a brand new motor, but that my car would still drive and that I could get it to another mechanic. When I attempted to start it, it would not start. Instead of trying to assist me, the mechanic glanced over, then closed the back garage doors before going inside (albeit, it was within 30 minutes of closing time, but still rude). When I went inside to confront him as to why my car was not in working condition, he shrugged and told me it drove for him. No one offered to help or any explanation as to why my car was no longer functional. Even if it was not able to be driven, I would rather they had been honest about it. I couldn't help but think they would have attempted to help if I had sent my dad to pick it up instead. Even the tow truck drivers were stunned it was returned this way! I'm incredibly disappointed, as I've heard a lot of good things about this store. I wish I could have trusted them with my vehicle. If you want your car to (at least) come back the way you left, I would look elsewhere. read more

I had my brakes done by Midas on Mcknight road and they were sounding like they were never done so I took them back and I was told that I had a small pebble lodged in there. Never the less the grinding sound never left so I took my truck to Midas in Wexford and Shawn Taylor took care of me and totally rectified the problem. I love Midas! I started going here because their fluid flushes were the best price for my car warranty maintenance out of everywhere I called. They list their prices right on a board when you walk in and don't try to hide them like some places. I just came here today because my car was leaking fluids, and they asked if I just had an oil change. I said yes and they found the problem right away. They took me back and showed me what was wrong so I understood. Jiffy Lube had punctured my transmission filter during the oil change because it looks similar to an oil filter. Phil from Midas worked with Jiffy Lube to resolve the problem without any charge to me! They are always friendly and I really appreciate their knowledge and great work. read more

Warning! Shop your prices! I have tried the various places in Sewickley and have never been disappointed with the work. But over time noticed that Midas gouges their customers. Recent example was quoted $275 for ignition coil. When I questioned that I was told "oh the price just went down to $225"!! I said no thanks and just had the repair done by another shop for $125! read more

Price gouge! Watch out! Needed a $7.00 coil spring on rear brake replaced. It took less than 15 minutes of labor to replace and the charge came to $140.15. The clerk knocked it down to $116.18 after I asked him what all I was being charged for and being told that I would be writing a negative review on Yelp. I had been a satisfied customer up until this point, but Sewickley Midas has lost my business. *Advice stick with a local mechanic. Avoid price gouging Midas! read more

Fast, helpful and friendly service. I was in town visiting from Wisconsin and needed my brakes checked. They looked over everything... explained exactly what needed to be done... then went over the prices... and had me out in less than an hour and a half. Amazing service - I called them around 4:15pm on a Saturday (they closed at 6pm) asking if they would be able to get me in for a last minute oil change. The person I spoke to was extremely friendly and asked if I could come in at 5pm. I had called Monro Muffler previously and they were very short and quick to say no. The manager, Joshua G. was very friendly and offered me a $10 discount - for no reason. They had my car in and out in no time at all but while they were in there, they filled up my coolant which I was concerned about, filled up my washer fluid, and even put some grease on my squeaky driver door. He was so friendly and helpful with answering my questions that weren't relevant to my oil change but to the overall condition of my car - and also gave his opinion on some things I should have taken care of - without trying to sell his services. He truly seemed to enjoy his job and making his customers happy. I am definitely going back to them. It's so hard to find auto service techs that are actually honest, enjoy their jobs (even at closing time), and care about their customers. read more
