    After!

Little out of our way but, wanted to try it. The atmosphere was a little different from what I'm used too but, it was fine. Service was great, friendly and fast. We tried a couple of different things and enjoyed all of them. The nachos were good, each chip was covered in toppings but still crunchy. The chulupa was good and was stuffed. The chili taco was unexpected. I had never even heard of this but, really liked it.

Cora's is a cute laid back bar and grill, servers are welcoming and friendly. There's outside seating and indoor as well. The highlight is the playground, it's perfect for small children 2 yrs and up. Nachos are good and even the small plate is enough to get full off of! They have a variety of beers too. Highly recommend Cora's!

Pepper steak - really just a big fat hamburger with jalapeños and covered in cheese sauce.

This little restaurant that has been in Castroville forever is a great place to go. They have uncovered outside dining by the kids play area, covered but partially open and then another room that is inside (the floor is old and uneven so watch your step!). The play area is really nice for the kids, although I wish it wasn't a sandy ground for them (deep sand), rubber playground chips would have been so much better in my opinion. The servers have always been great! Very friendly and attentive even when understaffed and busy. The food was good, hometown food, and a pretty decent salad bar inside, where they put the salad together for you upon your choices.

Late post... but after living in the area for over 2 years passing by all the time we finally decided to try this place out! Its nestled on a small farm road out by all the fields, it has a play area for kids outside. Walk in and greeted right away by the sweet ladies that stand at the desk. We always choose to eat in the dining room since there's AC in there! Service has been great both times we have been, they have a young lady make you a salad of your choice and they nice about piling toppings on if you want them! The nachos here are just ridiculous!! So good so tasty with all the toppings, I could go back just for those! But we've have fried fish, burgers, CFS, and steak here! All which were great! We'll definitely become regulars here at Cora's!

My boyfriend and I came here for an early dinner, we started off with their nachos (forgot to take pics) but they were AMAZING!! Then my boyfriend had the Chicken fried steak with baked potato & he loved it. I enjoyed a chicken sandwich (forgot the actual name of the sandwich) We didn't get any drinks because prior to coming here we went wine tasting. Come with a huge hunger bc this place will fill you up!! We will definitely be back

I was pleasantly surprised because in the pictures on Yelp I thought there were only picnic tables. But thats not the case, there are plenty of high top tables in there too. Really nice area for watching games while enjoying your craft beer. I ordered the brown ale and it was very good. I didn't order anything from the kitchen but the food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. I will definitely be back, this place deserves some further investigation.

Soooooooo on the drive to Eagle Pass, on HWY 90, right past Castroville, there's LT Mesquite Brewhouse. Apparently it's been there dince 2018 and my stupid ass has seen lthe building but never noticed the business. Anywayssssz-uhhh. Its a microbrewery and kitchen and cranks out great beers, food and desserts. Had their football Sunday special: smoked buffalo wings. Gotta be honest, these wings are magnificent by themselves. Their hiuse made buffalo sauce elevates them but simply the smokeyness is outstanding. They're tender, juicy and smoky. All their beers are solid. Flights are a nice wsy to sample their beers. And honestly, the beerd they're crafting out here are better than some of the ones at larger craft beer places. We had the white chocolate cranberry cookie and it was phenomenal. We paired it with the dunkel and stout and Jesus F. Christ! Mind blowing. You should know that they use some of their beer grains in their cookies and this cookie was just delicate, sweet, crunchy but not too decadent. So yeah, I've been missing out these years, after traveling between SA and Eagle Pass. DON'T BE LIKE ME. Shout out to Sean, out server! Fantastic dude with great recommendations.

There was a sign to seat yourselves. OK. We sat down and the bartender brought us menus. Us and a group of three were the only customers. Brought us waters. While looking at the menu, a server comes over and asks if we wanted appetizers or go straight to order. Straight to order, please. The husband ordered the brisket pot roast. It came with asparagus and what he thinks was puréed squash. I had the pecan chicken. Panko breaded with pecans and a bourbon sauce. Maple and bourbon were the flavor elements. Came with baked Mac and cheese and sliced slightly charred carrots. This was really good, as was the husbands plate. Warm Sourdough bread and butter is served with the meal. We split a Caesar salad. The salad was OK, the dressing was a little tart and served on the side. I'm taking a slice of chocolate cake to go. As I peek into the bag, it is a generous slice with strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream. Stay tuned. The restaurant is part of the Hillside Resort. Looks like a bunch of rooms. When we were about to leave a group of women came in and sat at the bar. I told the bartender we'd heard about them through Texas Eats. He said 'are they still showing that? That was about six chefs ago!' All righty then. I'd say it's worth a trip to try.

Reservations were made ahead of time for 4 and upon arrival we were were seated right next to the large open windows. Ordered the Berry Patch cocktail- nice and refreshing with a splash of mint leaves. Menu wasn't overwhelming and had a nice assortment of dishes. Starters ordered - pork belly bites and fried Brussels sprouts. Both highly recommend! Dishes ordered- salmon, pork chop, pot roast, and steak. Pork chop and steak were not dry, but juicy with lots of flavor. I loved pot roast growing up , so I had to order it here. Although tasty, texture was a little chewy and tough. Also would have enjoyed a little more helping of vegetable/potato purée underneath the roast. The salmon dish looked fabulous, but was slightly salty. The sweet bun that accompanied each dish were delicious! Service was good. I'd come back to try the pork chop next time around.

The bartender was super nice and waiter great. $5 margaritas during HH were very good. A few other drinks on special and a few appetizers. We tried the Texas Heat Bites. Good. They could use a few more apps, especially for HH. We moved to a table for dinner. The wife wanted to try the chicken fried steak, but they were out. What? Do she got the roasted chicken dish. Very good. I tried the schnitzel. Not great, a little gristle. Red cabbage was good. We will come back for HH.

Unfortunately, both visits were disappointing. My first visit, I ordered the grilled chicken Caesar salad. The salad was bland and lacked seasoning, and the chicken had a rubbery texture that tasted like it had been cooked earlier and simply reheated. Hoping it was just an off day, we came back. This time I ordered the Spring Roasted Chicken with risotto. For a nearly $30 entrée, I expected much better. The dish looked nothing like the photos advertised online. The risotto resembled a bowl of watery oatmeal more than a properly prepared creamy risotto, and the rice was still undercooked. The chicken once again had that same rubbery, reheated texture, making it hard to believe it had been freshly prepared. My daughter ordered the chicken strips, and they were so over-fried that the breading was painfully hard to chew. She literally had to peel most of the breading off just to eat them because it was hurting her teeth. To be fair, my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak both visits, and he said it was excellent. It looked great as well, so there are clearly some dishes they do well. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for a local business. We genuinely wanted this restaurant to become one of our regular spots. But after two visits, the quality simply didn't match the prices or the expectations of an upscale restaurant. I hope they're able to improve because we'd much rather support local than drive into San Antonio.
