When this place first opened, I had some really good meals. Good drinks, but they've created a restaurant and I was in there about a week ago the very end of June 26, and the person I was with ordered catfish and when it came, the catfish looked like it was frozen out of a bag and it was very pathetic looking, I mean, they were sad, looking and tiny, not big plump fresh cooked catfish. I don't even like catfish and I noticed that it was nasty looking. My meal so so blah....and average and completely unmemorable. I ordered the steak fingers and mashed potatoes. Potatoes were lukewarm as was the gravy. When I pay for hot food, I want my food to be served to me hot not lukewarm not cool but hot. I feel like they actually cooked better food when they were in the food truck then in the kitchen, they need to revisit some of the menu and put some flavor in the food my friend Friend and I always ask each each other after every meal would you come back here? after the last meal we each said no we would not come back here for a very long time, which is sad because it's a privately owned and it would be nice to support a small business. I don't want to support a conglomerate restaurant chain corporation, so I hope the Arcadia Café does better. I'm rooting for them. read more

The original Acadiana Cafe, off Marbach road, was an iconic place to eat for over 20 years. We visited in 2024, the last week it was in business, prior to closing down to what appeared for good. I recently saw that the Acadiana Cafe resurfaced itself, but now at the 113 year old Historic La Coste Hotel near Castroville. It offers a similar Cajun flair menu, but with a twist to the dinning experience. An open bar, a few tables for inside dinning and an outdoor picnic table seating for dinner time meals. Cooking is done in the parked Streamline trailer outside to give that true food truck like experience. Outdoor Live music playing on some nights and it appears to have a relaxed vibe to wind down the day. Goals for a weekend dinner. For today's lunch, I went with the Jambalaya and it had plenty of flavor and spice, while it brought me back to the original taste that I remember so well. Gotta do the biscuits, too to help you go down for an afternoon country nap. Like many small towns, the service was super friendly and we felt right at home even though you order at the bar and then wait to be served. read more

I love coming here at least once a month. The burgers are excellent but I like to explore other things too. Today I had the shrimp etouffee for lunch and it was delicious. Just like it was at the old Acadiana cafe. The service was great. I ordered my food at the bar and when it was ready a waiter brought it to me. I love eating lunch in this 113 year old hotel. They really did a nice job of restoring everything. They don't have the full Acadiana menu yet but I think that's something they're working toward. I was a bit disappointed by this restaurant reincarnated. The food is fine, what we ordered tasted good. But being a regular at the San Antonio version of Acadiana Cafe that closed I felt a bit cheated by the new La Coste version. It is no longer a cajun restaurant. The only Cajun dishes I saw available were the M-F daily lunch specials. Now more an Americana cafe. And it's interesting to visit. You enter into the La Coste Hotel bar, and order food at the bar. Then find a table (inside or out). The bartender takes your order ticket to a food trailer outside, then brings you a beeper and your drink order. Once your beeper goes off you need to go out back to the food trailer to pick up your order. The ruben sandwich ok, kinda thin but everything present. The chicken fried steak fingers were good, but had small pieces of beef inside thick breading. All tasted ok, well cooked and seasoned. Just was hoping for some étouffée and fried okra. I understand different owners than the San Antonio version, so maybe in the future might get its cajun mojo back. read more

This review is only for the customer service. I live over an hour and 15 minutes away. I called to ask if they are open whoever answered the phone said yes and gave me the times. I get in the car and drive there to find out that they have a private event. The restaurant is closed for this specific event. It was upsetting having to drive all this way. The building itself is historical. It looks like a really cute place for a dining experience. Also another sad news is they do not offer crawfish anymore. My trips to the old Acadiana were specifically to eat crawfish! What a bummer! read more

I had been a patron of the original location in San Antonio for decades so was really excited to see the new place. The menu is pared down from the original because this is a smaller location but the food was excellent! I was told that they are slowly expanding and adding to the menu. The cajun nachos, sausage & chicken gumbo and the pastrami sandwich were excellent.... But please bing the cornbread back!! read more

-Not family/kid friendly -Not a real restaurant, food comes from a rather grimy looking food truck in the back My family and I showed up, very excitedly, on a Friday afternoon, we were the only ones there. My husband and kids love history, so they were excited to look around at the artifacts, but we quickly realized that our kids made the manager quite uncomfortable? Nervous? Particularly our youngest who was playing with some beaded necklaces set out on the tables as decorations for Mardi Gras. A few minutes in, the manager asked my daughter to put them all back, which she was going to, but the immediate urgency, given that we were the only ones in there, was awkward. I think she realized she was being pedantic, and tried to soften her tone, but that was enough to make us feel awkward. The food was okay. Pricy. Small portions. Nothing to write home about. And later, when I saw where the food was being cooked, it disappointed me. It was one of my most uncomfortable meals since they don't have high chairs for small kids, so we had to hold a squirmy baby while trying to inhale our food so we could get the heck outa there. After our meal, our oldest stood up to go into the front room where a tv show was playing, he pulled up a chair to sit and watch the tv for a sec, but the bar tender went up to him and told him he couldn't sit there bc she had just cleaned the table. Again, pedantic behavior considering we were STILL the only people there and all he did was pull out a chair. As one final attempt to give the place a second chance, we went to the outdoor area to check it out, maybe we could sit out there next time so our kids aren't annoying the two women working, but it was just a dusty lot w some very aged benches...wasn't expecting anything fancy, but it was pretty sad looking, like they're not even trying to have a decent outdoor space. Where do I start? This place has so much potential, with proper ownership or management. The fact that staff are snarky and almost rude, makes my experience even worse. They opened up a new section , which we were excited for , but if you can't staff it, why expand? We were told it would be a 30 min wait or we could go to bar area. They must have told everyone that, as bar filled up quickly . Pretty much one or two ladies making drinks, taking orders at counter . After we order and paid, we waited and waited, for our food. Honestly, we would have left , but they take your money upfront , so you're kinda held hostage. After checking several times for our order, we were told, in a snarky way , that it would be out soon, they were getting tickets from both sides of the restaurant . That is the managers fault , or owners fault for trying to expand when it was not totally thought through. The whole process of how the restaurant is operated is not thought out. There is no flow, and they simply don't seem to care . After waiting well over an hour for the food, it was not hot, fries and catfish were barely warm. Hushpuppies were missing .There is no excuse for this. There is no excuse to act like this is normal and should just accept it. We had been a few times before the "expansion" but we will definitely not be back . Where is ownership or management with this big expansion? Should be all hands on deck , but clearly they don't care enough to be there or be seen to make sure guests are taken care of. This is a sorry imitation of the Acadiana Cafe that was previously in San Antonio, Texas. The menu is a joke. The only seafood on daily menu was catfish. No shrimp. No crayfish. Terribly understaffed. The lady you were asked to wait at entry to seat you was also the waitress . After she took our order we never saw her again. She never checked to see if we needed anything like refill of ice tea. The food when it came was served by a cook out of the kitchen who looked like a cook out of kitchen. We ordered fried okra with ranch as appetizer. When it came there was no ranch. There was no one to ask for ranch until the cook brought out our main course which was too late. The only thing that resembled the original Acadiana was the sign out front. This is a small town Cafe pretending advertising itself as a Cajun sea food place. my wife in I tried this place yesterday at 4 pm not busy at all the hostess literally handed us our menu and points us to the bar area sitting area I walk up to bar after being ignored for 10 minutes I go up to the bar to order a beer and this rude ass lady proceeded to tell me go sit at my table and she will come get my drink order, meanwhile she is bullshitting a regular customer younger guy..after i finally get my beer I order 2 appetizer 20 minutes later no food no service for a 2nd beer. she walks over to the nxt couple that walks in proceeds to be rude as hell to them,we walk out after paying for 1 beer and the couple that had just sat down and was treated rudely were right behind us telling us what a rude ass lady/bartender she was..I own a business and if she worked for me that would have been her last day employed. . ok so I'm a contractor and we eat out every day. we were a little early 1145 but tea hot barely any ice just made. ordered 2 3 piece catfish 2 teas. fish was a Lil over cooked and tiny and taste like mud cat cheapest on the market. slaw was just cabbage and mayo nothing else hush puppies burnt a Lil but good fries. 53-54 bucks gave her 60 told her keep it but wow I don't mind paying for good food but it was a joke. if you have ever eaten sammys castroville you will laugh twice the food half the price and a lot better. sammys fish blows theirs out of the water. sad because this is not what we remembered from the original. I never do reviews so it was that bad. we are home early now because we both had to get and stay close to a bathroom only about 30 min after eating here. and had to order from bar at the price bring your lazy a.. to the table. drink a lot of tea at lunch and it was so bad the 1 small cup wasnt even finished. sad was hoping for edible. nice old building but no way we will go back and will be warning people. if they make it it's the bar or venue read more
