    Strawberry waffle
    Jessica L.

I will start this off with, I absolutely love Cora's potatoes and waffles usually. Today's experience however was subpar. We went to this location as my friend had recommended it, although she's not usually there on a weekend. We waited an hour for our food to be served to us, and by the time we had gotten it we were starving. Immediately noticed that there was half the amount of strawberries that it's supposed to come with. It is described as a mountain of strawberries, if this waffle was a province it would be Saskatchewan because it was flat AF. The waffle itself was undercooked, and cold. So what I had was a pile of soggy waffle. I mentioned it to our waitress that the two of us who had ordered waffles were really disappointed as it was cold and soggy and undercooked. She did offer to make us something else but I didn't have another hour in me to wait. So she kindly removed them from our bill, which I do appreciate. If I do try this location again, it will be during the week, and hopefully won't be sad waffles this time. My husband had a crepe-omelette (not pictured) and said it was decent, so at least one of us left there happy.

    Fresh fruits

If there ever was an indicator of life returning to normal after a two year total shift in the real world, it was here. My family, clients and I came to this Cora's after searching for breakfast places in the area. The restaurant was packed with the line extending out of the store front. The ambiance in this store is always great. The food here is always great. And the portions HUGE. If you are not a big eater, it makes sense to share a dish here. I ordered only a breakfast poutine hoping it would not be very huge. But even that was, and I was left feeling stuffed. The fresh fruits, the potatoes and the main course are all beyond compare. Service was excellent, despite the rush and our server very friendly and sharp. As is always with Cora's, if you have a brunch there, you don't need any other meal for the rest of the day. We were told the restaurant is under new ownership and management recently which makes sense. Highly recommend you check them out.

Western Omelette was fresh and fluffy

I am surprised by some of the reviews. This is my favourite Cora's in the national capital region. I find the quality of the food is most consistent here and the place is clean. Today, I had the western omelette and it was fluffy and had the right mix of meat and vegetables. The potatoes were soft and slightly burnt on the edges. My husband had the original Cora's breakfast. The meat was just nicely cooked. The kids also throughly enjoyed their kids' crepe and waffle.

Much hyped place for breakfast in Ottawa. We went on Saturday morning and it was so busy that we waited for approx 25 mins to get a table. Great breakfast options. Service was quick and food did taste amazing but price was quite high.

a plate of food with eggs, sausages, and fruit

This has to be the worst Cora's I've ever been to. The quality of the food was quite low. Two of the three sausage links were completely burnt. The picture clearly shows one of them burnt the other one was turned over at the time. Also, the picture of the eggs doesn't give a great angle they were some of the smallest eggs I've ever seen served in a breakfast. I even complained to the waiter about the size of them. The potatoes were average but they had no seasoning of any kind on them so they were very bland. Everything about this breakfast just screams cheap. I definitely do not recommend this place. everything about this meal was just poor.

    Eggs benedict

I use to get eggs benedict at this Cora's location fairly often but it had been about a year since my visit last month. I was very disappointed with my meal, I ordered the eggs benedict with asparagus. The toast that was served to us was burnt and my hollandaise sauce was watery and the asparagus was stringy and tasted as if it was cooked from frozen. I won't be going back to Cora's any time soon. There are better breakfast places in Ottawa where you can get fresh, well prepared food for a better price.

If it weren't for the company during my meal here, it would have been totally awful. Thankfully, Fauve G is always good for interesting breakfast chatter. We went for Sunday brunch and we didn't have to wait long at all, which is usually my reason for not going to Cora's, whatever the location. I'd always frequented the Merivale location, but they're relatively the same. Lots of table and booths packed in with a definite family-style vibe. Fauve and I both ordered crepes stuffed with eggs (which I can't for the life of me find on their online menu to remember the name - there's a picture but no listing). She had ham and egg and I opted for the bacon and egg. I was expecting a mound of fresh fruit on the side, but we didn't get too much. Also, the crepe was smaller than I thought it would be. That being said, I'm sure the calories more than made up for it. I was really bummed out about the whole experience. The crepes were unbelievably greasy and not too warm, and a lot of the fruit was way too ripe. I couldn't even bite the nectarine it was so hard. The service was seriously awful, minus the lovely girl who we paid at the end of the meal. Our waiter seemed angry at the world, and a bit at us as well. He checked on us often enough, but it was with a bit of irritation.

    "Sarrasin Surprise"
    Lojain M.

This is one of the only times that I've actually had such a great brunch. The food filled me so much that I was bloated walking out. My family and I walked in on a Sunday afternoon at around 12:45. It was really busy, but lucky for us, a big crowd was leaving and were lined up at the cash. We were seated within five minutes, and though it was busy, was checked on by our waitress in 5 minute time spans. After ordering our food, we waited for about ten minutes and man, the food looked like some kind of art! I ordered what's called the "Sarrasin Suprise" under Savoury Crêpes on the online menu, but it was named something else on the actual menu. Just can't remember what it is. By the way, the menu has lots of choices. Took my family and me a while to pick! But anyhow, I ordered the smaller serving and MAN was it filling! The fruits were cut up artistically, and the sausages were great! The only downside was that my parents' side of potatoes seemed to have been rushed out of the stove. They were slightly soggy and quite oily. Prices on the menu would be MAX $20, and that would include your tip! But overall, amazing. Food was great, service was great, prices reasonable, and it's always busy! Would come back for brunch to try out their other items on the menu.

Come here more for the food and not the service. We got served, and then our waitress was no where to be found until it came time to pay. We had to ask other waitress for coffee refill. The food was alright, topical breakfast but I found the potatoes a bit blah.

Perfectly cooked over-easy eggs and the potatoes are so, so good.

It's always been a special morning when we got Broadway for breakfast. They're a similar restaurant to Zak's Diner; with great food and their signature Homefries (that could sometimes use a bit more seasoning). You can get their Homefries anytime, even after breakfast, but their quality isn't as good as fresh in the morning. On top of just the food, the have amazing service. The staff is always happy for a quick chat or there for a good recommendation. In terms of speed, it depends on when you come, but provided you know what you want, it can be as little as 5 minutes (the time it'd take to drive to the store). Now to the Ambiance. The place is inspired by NYC's Broadway (specifically their Musicals) so the restaurant's walls are decorated accordingly. Overall, this is one of my favourite restaurants in all of Ottawa, and probably my favourite one for eating breakfast. My only qualm is asking that the Homefries receive more seasoning, but that is something so minor that it shouldn't result in the loss of a star from my review, and similarly it only really happens when I order takeout. Edit: I forgot to mention that from what I've seen, the owners are great people. Some of their staff have worked for over 10 years (some over 20), and they still have good things to say of their bosses (the staff, I mean), which is not something you tend to see. Also, this place is locally owned and operated.

I went pretty early both times and I was the first or second table there. I ordered the Trio Sante (a combination of yogurt, fresh fruit, and house-made granola) on my first visit and the ARC French Toast on my second. Both were excellent - I even dreamt about the french toast for awhile after =P There was just something about the contrast between the soft, rich, custard-like interior and the crunchy, oat-encrusted exterior in combination with a delicate spice, warm maple syrup, and tangy citrus butter... yum. To drink, I tried the drip coffee and a latte - both were average. The decor is modern and clean lines, with some elements from nature. It's bright and sunlight streams in from the windows. Basically, a great setting for a relaxing breakfast. Keeping in mind that both times I was one of only a few people there, service was appropriately attentive - i.e., there when it was necessary and not over bearing. Prices were on the high side, but probably on par with what would be expected in a hotel restaurant. I would come here again if I were staying at the hotel but, truth be told, there are other breakfast/brunch places in Ottawa that are higher on my list of places to go.
