This restaurant was the fanciest and priciest of all the places we went to in Baja. I love the concept of farm to table, and literally sitting their you can see their garden from which they pick fresh produce for their entrees for the night, to the farm where they get there meats and dairy. The menu is pretty much unknown until they serve it to you because of how fresh their ingredients are. It was around $68-70 per person not including a wine pairing. All the dishes were a piece of art I felt like. All the veggies were delicious. My favorite of all the dishes was the lamb with the aged sauce. The meat was the right amount of tender and the sauce was just enough to cover each bite. With the mountains in front of you, to the koi pond to the left of us, the restaurant was amazinly designed. Everything out here is out on a dirt road and what I love about the restaurant was that it's not crowded. We can hear each other talk, and we can enjoy our meal with each bite. They've got wifi here too! But you've got to ask the server for User ID and password.

The good - +1: the environment was beautiful. Great interior, open kitchen and wonderful service. You won't be disappointed though it was hard to find- like anything in this area. +1: the food creativity was great. I saw in a ton of reviews that people "expected more". I'm really not sure what more there is to expect...it was creative and filling. +1: wine pairing was nice, I got to try tons of the local wines..tons..TONS. The bad: -2: the cost. For the US, this was expensive; for Mexico, this was EXTREMELY expensive. It worked out to about $330 for two ($165/pp) with wine pairings. That's about what'd I'd expect to spend in the US for similar quality. I would've liked to see a lobster, beef or caviar course to make it more worth it. Would I go again? I would - though expensive, it was worth it.

Corazon de Tierra is a very special place. I can't say enough about the quality of the food - must try!! We will be back for sure. The food was outstanding, very creative and well presented. As far as I remember, there were no menus, the chef was making the food specifically for us and we had 6-7 courses. Every meal was organic - they use ingredients from their garden which you can see from the restaurant dining area. Every meal was original, tasted really good and was outstanding. My fiancé chose to do wine pairing with each course and all wines were from that area - Valle De Guadalupe and he liked all of them very much (despite the fact that he is not a big fan of white wines). The only comment I have about the restaurant is that it's very hard to find it. There are no signs and the road that takes you to the restaurant is absolutely horrible.

Most incredible meal I've ever had! The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant was gorgeous; down to the table, the chairs, and to the very different plates they use to serve the courses on. The staff was kind and accommodating. They even let us bring our our own wine and champagne to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary. Everything they serve is fresh and primarily from their garden. Its very hard for me to describe the the dishes we tasted because they were so different than the typical food creations. Each small course was perfectly curated with interesting ingredients, flavors and textures. After the meal I didn't feel over indulged or stuffed. My stomach felt happy. You can tell the people in the kitchen put so much love into the food they serve. We had an amazing experience here and will definitely coming back!

Where do LA's top chefs go to get inspired, including chefs such as Jose Andres and Timothy Hollingsworth of Otium, Barrel and Ashes and the French Laundry? Not only LA chefs, but world renowned chefs such as Rene Redzepi and Massimo Bottura. They all go to Mexico. Currently, the pop-up Ceviche Project is there right now doing R&D at all the restaurants in Ensenada. There's a burgeoning food scene, especially in Baja California -- unlike anywhere in the world. I first heard of Corazon de Tierra at the annual Tacolandia, where Chef Diego Hernandez offered a tasting last year. I did a little research and wanted to visit his restaurant in Baja since last year. Before my visit, I read some reviews and even watched some of his Munchies video on YouTube. It so happened that the LA Times visited just the weekend before I made my reservation, which got even more excited for my third food adventure in Baja and my first visit to Valle de Guadalupe. There's definitely something special and unique happening in the Baja California food scene, often called "Baja Med" due to the similar quality of produce available. Chef never trained in NYC or France. He trained under Mexican chefs, such as Benito Molina of Manzanilla, another top rated restaurant in Ensenada. A previous visit to the Mercado Negro was an eye-opening. There was so much variety of fresh seafood, not available or seen in Los Angeles. We first stopped over some places and on our way down. Some taquerias in Tijuana for breakfast tacos and then a whole lobster in Puerto Nuevo, due to a missed exit to Popotla because we took the toll road. As mentioned in the LA Times article, you'll have to travel through a long, bumpy dirt road to finally arrive at the restaurant. Once we walked in, we were promptly greeted and seated to our table. Chef Diego Hernandez was seated right in front of us having a meal with some friends. I loved the Indie music playlist of the evening and the volume wasn't annoyingly loud as most restaurants in LA. We were told about the "mystery" tasting menu. 6 courses -- all a surprise. Similar to my visits to LA's Scratch Bar. This allows them to substitute ingredients, should they run out. You'll see steps from the restaurant the small garden where they grow their vegetables. Everything is sourced within miles of the restaurant. From their fish, meat, and cheese -- all local. The experience reminded me of my visit to Asador Extebarri in Spain. Tasting menu which changes daily: Smoked tuna tostada + uni powder Salad from our garden + jamaica gel + cotija cheese + dashi gel + chlorophyll spinach + Candied golden beets + jamaica powder + garlic puree Pork feet + roasted tomato sauce + cauliflower + onion ashes Bonito + smoked cauliflower puree + dock plant + rutabaga + peas Rib + salsa madre + vegetables from our garden Strawberry sorbet + garden soil + chard + dried mint Kale sorbet + chocolate biscuit + tepache gel + pistachios + café de olla It was strange to get two consecutive sorbets at the end. I am not too sure about the "garden soil" as dessert. The service was very friendly and attentive. Once I dropped my napkin, they quickly replaced it with a new napkin, water glasses were refilled. We were even brought a rack to hang out our handbags and coats by our table. We booked our reservation to time it around sunset, which is the perfect time to dine at the restaurant with the soft glow of the sun as it sets behind the hillside. Bourdain even described scenic Valle de Guadalupe as the "Tuscany of Mexico." Corazon de Tierra was definitely one my most interesting dining experiences and deserving of their recognition as one of the "top restaurants of Latin America" by San Pellegrino. Up next for me in the Valle de Guadalupe? Laja, Manzanilla, La Cocina de Dona Esthela and Finca Altozano. I can't wait!

Off the beaten path in the heart of the Guadalupe Valley is where you will find Corazon De Tierra, rated #30 on Latin America's top 50 (2014) best restaurant. For a very reasonable $65 / PP we had two amuse bouches + 6 courses. From start to end was approximately 3 hours. Corkage: $16 Per Bottle. Presentation superb. Flavor not so. Service was par. I enjoyed the farm-to-plate concept. However, it felt like the restaurant was trying too hard to innovate instead of embracing the local Mexican food culture. - Oh, and the flies! You will be sharing your food with them due to the proximity of the farm and the open design of the restaurant. Like the wines in Valle De Guadalupe, Corazon De Tierra is a step back from Napa and its top rated restaurants. However, for $65 it's well worth the drive, the view and the experience.

My boyfriend and I travel to Baja often but after this extended weekend, I must say we do not travel enough. For those of you who haven't traveled to the Valle de Guadalupe, it's a bit of a drive but so worth it. Prior to driving into the wine route, we stopped at the information booth right after the toll to get a map. Fair warning to all- the maps aren't exactly to scale. There are plenty of signs directing to the various wineries. I can only imagine that this is how Napa was 80 years ago. Rustic and charming. Old dirt roads. A time when things were simpler and happier. This property is located literally in the heart of the valley. You have to travel on dirt roads. Just when you think you're lost, you've found your way to the heart of it all. The property hosts a winery (Vena Cava), a hotel (beautiful little bed and breakfast), and of course this amazing restaurant. The restaurant has been in the top 50 restaurants of Latin America for the past two years and rightfully so. They accommodate reservations only however we were fortunate enough to get a table. There was also a party after us and they weren't able to sit since they had no reservations. Decor of the restaurant is stunning, open concept. Very charming and beautiful. The menu concept is a six course tasting made with local ingredients. Local as in hey there's a garden in the yard and we are picking your produce as you come in. Meats are provided by local ranchers. Fresh seafood is brought in with a 20 drive from Ensenada. Amuse bouche of smoked swordfish with Swiss chard. Talk about flavor of the earth and sea. There is something that is to be said about produce picked and cooked for you right away. If this was a way to pique my interest, congratulations you win. First course- oyster with bacon, Swiss chard, local cheese. Beautifully cooked and presented. Next up- garden leaf salad with sunflower petals, carrots, white beet dressing and fennel. Croutons which I have no idea what they were made of but omg. So sugary and sweet. Pure joy for a salad! I cannot stress enough how special it is to have fresh local produce to table. I loved it. Fresh baked bread with Swiss chard pesto. Yum. Then, roasted white beets, fresh Parmesan, and garlic purée. My boyfriend is not a huge fan of beets but absolutely loved every bite. I'm a huge fan of beets and loved it too! Next dish was a corn tamale served with beef sweetbreads, and various Mexican spices and sauce. The sauce was reminiscent of a mole. Just so special. Protein- yellowtail, Swiss chard, fennel. Prepared perfectly. Next- de-boned quail. Quail normally is super small and tons of bones so this was definitely a great dish to eat. They gave us two pieces each and I was stuffed! To cleanse our palates, we were given a sorbet of cilantro and parsley. So refreshing! For dessert, a creamy pudding (foam?) with pralines, black radish, and almonds. Served with a chlorophyll sauce. Sounds weird but really spectacular. Perfect summer dessert especially for the meal that we just devoured. They have some awesome wine pairings too so make sure to ask what they recommend. Also great beer selection. This restaurant beats the pants off any foodie restaurant I've been to in Los Angeles. Such a lovely experience. I will come back to the heart of the valley very soon.

This is an experience-type restaurant, you are there to eat but also soak up the experience. The interior is very exterior, heavy glass sliding walls push invisibly away to leave a view to the pond and garden full of sunflowers. Burlap curtains flow gently in the breeze. There are so many lovely details to this place aesthetically that I can not mention them all: pairs of brightly upholstered chairs to sink into, sculpturally laminated wood tables, handmade ceramic dishes, wine bottles nestled into the wall behind the bar...OK, so just go see it for yourself. The tasting menu was an adventure. I do recommend going with the wine pairings. The staff has some very innovative concepts here! In the kitchen, chefs push the envelope. With this kind of complex food sometimes the experiments were more successful than others but when it worked, it exceeded. The highlight was the dessert, shards of meringue atop a cannelle of black tea ice cream, lemon curd, a mango component and more. The textures, flavors, and balance of sweet/tart were mesmerizing. The staff were very attentive and spoke Spanish and English, very helpful for us! Come and plan to stay for some time to get the most out of the experience.

What a great little experience in Guadalupe Del Valle in Ensenada. We had the good pairing with wine. Different, interesting and definitely worth it for the adventurous palate. The ambiance is relaxed and modern. Worth the stop when tasting wine in the Valley but make reservations cause they don't take drop ins. Cheers, Salud, Skoal !!! read more

Flavor concoctions that are as beautiful as they are delicious. I have a few favorites in Baja and this has just been added to the list. The ambience is sophisticated and romantic. Perfect way to finish your day of wine tasting in Mexico! read more

OMG! Where do I begin! This restaurant is nestled in the Valle de Guadalupe region of Ensenada. The best part of this restaurant was the fact that it was sustainable but best of all it was farm to table. The menu is seasonal as it all depends on what the farm has harvested. Also, if you would like to spend the night you are able to do so in the adjacent hacienda. Please know that this restaurant is hard to find so you need to go with someone who is familiar with the area. Please enjoy the photos which I have posted, but know that these don't do the food justice. I was also told that Anthony Bourdain once ate here. read more

Our meal felt really rushed. One course arrived before we had finished the previous one. During another course, the server came over before I had finished eating, said "Finished!", waited for me to put my fork down, and took my plate away. Really. We went at night, so we didn't get to enjoy the scenery, but based on the food and service, it was disappointing and unprofessional. read more

You do not want to pay $100+ per person for this restaurant. The service was inattentive, distracted and all together poorly executed. The food was not up to the price and the chef did not seem worried about any of it as he watched lackluster meals and poorly trained servers roll out. Coming from Mexico City to this area I thought the service would be wonderful but overall this restaurant missed the mark. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Please find another place to dine. read more

Visited Corazon de Tierra for Sunday lunch as part of a birthday trip with friends to the Valle de Guadalupe. Restaurant is part of estate along with La Villa de Valle (small hotel/B&B were our group stayed), Vena Cava Winery and Troika Food Truck. Getting to Corazon de Tierra certainly meets the Michelin standard of "worth a special trip," with the "trip" aspect not to be overlooked--even compared to the Valley which itself is fairly remote, the estate is a further 20 minute journey on a make-shift dirt road. But the overall experience makes the trip worthwhile. Restaurant is surrounded by its garden and fantastic view of the surrounding valley. Very cool design; the restaurant is basically a wood and glass box with sliding glass walls that open to allow in breezes from the valley. Views wherever you sit. Menu changes daily based on what is growing in their own garden and available local ingredients including fresh seafood from Ensenada, Dishes highlight local/seasonal ingredients and modern spins on traditional Mexican dishes with strong Asian influences. Our six course menu with two amuses, palate cleanser and petit fours was as follows Amuse--Smoked Tuna Amuse--Oyster, roasted with Brown Butter and Kombu Salad of house-grown Green with Dashi Gel, Chlorophyll Water and Cojita Cheese Roasted Beets with Pickled Radish, Local Cheeses and Garlic Puree "Tamale" (house specialty) Sea Bass in a Seafood Broth with Leeks and first-of-season Cherry Tomatoes Roasted Baby Chicken with Black Radish Puree and Carrot Palate Cleanser--Watermelon with Watermelon Sorbet and Strawberry Mint Dessert--Lemon Cream with Meringue, Kombucha Ice Petit Fours Menu was $59 USD per person. Unreal value. Everything was amazing. Oyster, Beets, Sea Bass, and Tamales were standouts along with the dessert. Portions were small but appropriate given the length of the menu, although at times wished there was more of certain elements (eg. Sea Bass came with a single tomato). To drink we had a Magnum of the Vena Cava Brut Rose (compliments of the house as guests of the hotel), followed with a couple bottles of the Vena Cava Rose and some of beers. Wines were refreshing and excellent. Finished with coffee, which was a standout. Some complaints regarding service. In general, it was excellent but some language issue. In particular, the waiter's support team could not grasp the fact that we were drinking bottled water and did not want anything from the tap (eg. pouring bottled water over tap ice, and topping off bottled water with tap water). At times there was also a delay in explaining what we were eating, but was very impressed by their ability to get such a lengthy tasting menu out to a table of 8 with everyone's dish arriving at the same time. read more

The place is nice. Service it's on the rude side and when they tell you about what you are eating if you make questions they look at you as if you had two heads, and I'm Mexican, I speak the language. You get the impression that they made you a favor in letting you eat there. The food was good but very small portions. Be aware, when they offer you to either by a bottle or to do different wines according to the food they serving...ask for the price of that, I ended paying 470$ for 4 people plus tip. read more

This was the most disappointing meal ever! The staff were professional and very friendly, but the food was completely style over substance. Great ingredients and presentation, but totally tasteless. All except the pork belly, which was great. Who the hell is supposed to be running that kitchen I can only imagine??? The bill was $300 which made the whole experience even worse! It's a real shame. We spent 3 days in the area eating wonderful food all over the place and this was supposed to be the grand finale. It wasn't. It was totally underwhelming. Save your money and eat in one of the upscale restaurants in Ensenada. Or eat delicious $1 fish Tacos near the beach....... Or if you want a lesson in how not to do 'fine dining', eat here. read more

I was looking so forward to this meal. Spent the long weekend eating along the coast, taco stands in Ensenada as well as two of Ensenada's higher end restaurants. So where do I even begin? First and foremost, we drove to find this place at night. Not the easiest of tasks because there are many dirt roads before we finally found the restaurant so I would suggest driving while it's still daylight or taking a cab. Irregardless, I found this restaurant to be one of the best dining experiences of my life. There are no menus. However, if you are open minded enough to trust the Chef, you will not be disappointed. I counted 8 courses including the small bites at the beginning and desserts at the end. Everything we ate was either grown from their garden or sourced locally. There was such a variety of flavors it would do you no justice to try and explain. Add this to your list for the Valle, you will love it! read more

I would not come here for dinner. It is overpriced the servers are nice but unfortunately not knowledgeable. It takes forever and what they actually serve you is tiny- the place is terrible overall and we do not know how it has some of the ratings it has - we dined as two vegetarians and two meat eaters and they basically served us vegetarians a few pieces of broccoli as my main course and the meat eaters got a tiny slice of lamb- we were all starving after and had to have a second dinner. Out of all the options of dining in this area, this should not be a place you should consider. I would suggest Deckman's, Finca Altozano for farm to table cuisine in a scenic setting. Or if you wish to grab a lunch along your way, the food truck outside the Vena Cava winery is delicious. All of these dining options are a fraction of the price for what Corazon charges and they not only serve more food, but tastier food, with much faster service. read more

We were a party of 7, 1 of whom is a vegetarian, and we had a wonderful meal and an equally fine experience at Corazon de Tierra. The food is in the Nouvelle Cuisine style of a single preparation on a plate with 12 courses, so a a succession of plates. Our vegetarian had her special preparations when the rest of us had fish or meat. Service was attentive and the wine and drinks were delicious as well. We all felt satisfied, and we left with a happy memory. read more

We stayed two nights at Villa de Valle, walking distance to this restaurant over Christmas Holiday. We were convinced by staff member Diane to change our reservation from Deckmans to here instead. The reviews from a friend were good so we decided we'd try. Huge mistake. The food was bland, dry, tasteless and expensive. We walked out before the courses were over and were still expected to pay the full $220 for the meal. I could have made a better dinner and I don't even cook much! It is absolutely absurd they made us pay for the full meal... and I honestly have never walked out on a meal. We were extremely disappointed. Several others we learned also left that night disappointed with their meal. We ended up going back to our hotel and one of the late night staff made us quesadillas, we were starving! Come to find out, we were told the chef was on vacation in Tulum. Ok, makes sense why the meal was horrible. We contacted them and asked them to make it right for us, but of course we never heard back from them. So, make sure the chef is not on vacation when you make your reservation or you will end up like us. Wish I would've read some of the reviews posted here and then our night wouldn't have been ruined! read more

Way too overpriced. You will leave hungry. Drink service is excruciatingly slow. The service is condescending and impersonal.

Don't know where to begin. This was as awful a dining experience that I've ever had and hopefully others will not make the mistake we did of believing the hype that surrounds this restaurant. "One of the top restaurants in Latin America", etc. Please... The deal was that it was to be a 6-8 course Tasting Menu. The reservations were hard to come by since it was a Saturday yet when we arrived the place had many empty tables. That should have told us something... It was probably 45 degrees outside and not much warmer inside, we had to keep our coats on to stay warm. To be fair that was a constant in almost all the restaurants we went to on this trip to Valle. The service was rushed to say the least. The servers were rude and could barely describe the dishes (in their broken English) as they threw tiny plate after tiny plate at us. Since I speak Spanish, I asked one of them to describe one of the dishes in Spanish and she did not fare any better. And on to the food. It went from bad to worse. I understand the concept of creativity in a chef but these so called dishes were just ridiculously weird and tasted at least as bad as they looked. It got so bad that after our fourth or fifth course (some half-cooked fish), we just wanted out and just looked at each other as they brought the last courses that we barely touched. At some point, we looked around and there were at least two other couples going through a similar experience as us. At some point we looked at a young couple next to us and we all just started laughing (and making faces similar to that of someone barfing). We were staying at the fabulous Villa Del Valle hotel which is next door and we met some of the other guests. They had been to the restaurant the night before and they also had a disappointing experience. I hardly ever get motivated enough to write a negative review but this was beyond bad. I am just hoping that some people reading this will just stay away from this over-hyped and truly awful place. Its possible this place was good at some point, but as of late 2018 this is how it was. And to make it even worse the place is not cheap. One star is being generous... read more

I've been here twice, and while the first time was decent, the second was shockingly bad. I have no idea how this place transformed from a restaurant into a trashcan. At first, I was excited to bring my guests down the long, unpaved dirt road to get to the place. Long story short, they didn't offer any wine pairings, like they had before, and so we ordered a glass of Tempranillo. We drank our wine while the dozens of flies in the restaurant annoyed everyone. Then, no one ever asked if we wanted a second glass, which we would have needed in order to eat the garbage food they served us. What's worse, the main course was beef and came out ultra-bloody with attached pieces of cow skin. I finally knew why this restaurant decorates seating with little brown bags with their logo -- so folks can spit out their food conveniently or vomit, whichever comes first. I didn't want to be any problem, so I just paid the very expensive bill for my guests and we left. I apologized to my guests until we eventually arrived at Encuentro, which offered edible food and drinkable wine. Avoid Corazon de Tierra like the bubonic plague! read more

Terribly expensive for a meal that not only leaves you hungry, but questioning whether the ingredients are truly edible. How many types of beets and turnips can a man eat in one sitting? Portions are made for elves and everything tasted of dirt. They take the "tierra" part a bit too literal in my opinion. Highly, highly disappointed. If all that weren't bad enough, getting there is a bit of an ordeal too. Make sure your car has all wheel drive. read more

We used to love this place and have told our friends about it and even brought friends here before. We were so excited for our New Years dinner. My husband called and also made sure that they knew he didn´t eat red meat and asked if they could give something else instead during the dinner. No problem was the answer. It has never been a problem before. That is why we always returned. This time was different. We had prepaid $200 (US dollars) each plus my wine pairing to the dinner so over $400 for this dinner...My husband sat there without a dish when I got a meat dish...They could´t even give him some oysters just to compensate the meat dish. That would have not costed them nothing...It sucked big time! We asked and they said "No this is a set menu for the New Year..." Different from the phone call when everything was fine. I was sitting with empty glasses for a long time and they didn´t even give some sparkling wine just because it is New Years...No offering of a cup of coffee or tea for dessert...Oh My....They had the big Floor to ceiling windows/doors open and it was 50°F outside...the heaters was on but it was not cozy at all..People had dressed up and were freezing in there...I saw couples ask for blankets but never got them....No New Years feeling at all in there....We are never going back again. We are so disappointed..And also this is the first time that we didn´t even feel a little full after the dinner...We left to Ensenada and bought coffee and tried to come over the chock...We were sad and realised that we just broke up with a restaurant that we used to love but the love isn´t there anymore....But we are happy about all the new restaurants that are opening up around in Valle de Guadalupe. There is so many fantastic restaurants for 1/4 of the Corazon de Tierra price...About the food...It was ok but not worth $200 each when my husband is sitting without dishes in between...LOL! read more

We wanted to love this place because we were staying next door at the La Villa de Valle but unfortunately, words can not describe fully how disappointed we were. From start to finish the courses were scary looking and horrible tasting. We started off with something that tasted like what I imagine cat food must taste like on a cracker. Then, it was oysters that were supposed to have been put on the bbq but were lukewarm and slimey. After that we had a salad of weeds (no kidding!) with a chloroform dressing (isn't that poisonous? I hope he meant chlorophyll) After the poison soup, we had a small plate of turnips with garlic cream and a couple slices of local cheese. The cheese was good the turnips not. Next, we had flowers with a green smelly soup (think something you might see in a baby diaper) that was also not appetizing. The next course was seared tuna with a fennel cream (smelled stinkey) and only one of us got the tuna half right the other three were cooked all the way through and definitely not seared. Portions were tiny and that was a good thing cause we did not like what we were being served. We called it quits at the moment when I asked the waiter what the next course was and he replied it was a surprise. We asked for the check at that point. The highlights of the night were the lovely wine the beautiful restaurant and views and the servers. They were very nice and apologized and were sorry that we were not happy with our meal and they did not charge us for the meal and only for the wine. I would have given only one star but felt that the staff deserved a bit of recognition. read more

We ate here on 3/24/17..4 of us did both food and wine pairing..we own a restaurant north of SF with same pricing..$70.00 Prix Fixe and $40.00 for wine. Our server Racquel indicated she was new..obviously her training was inadequate as she was comfortable pouring us less than an ounce of each wine with each course. Others around us were being poured 4-6 ounces with their food. Called for manager to try to resolve situation...his attitude and words indicated it was our problem...UNREAL ...offered to buy wine..He said no we cant...finally got new waiter who poured ok amounts, essentially the attitude of the staff was we were lucky to be treated this poorly...saw all the classic mistakes a restaurant can make...some friends of manager shared our table...big pours...different dishes...totally insulting to paying clients..when they ran bill they "forgot" we had already paid $100.00 to reserve table...as everyone knows an expensive dining experience is more than just the food...and when the wine part of the experience is a total disappointment...wines were just average and I have been in the wine biz for 40 years, its disappointing. As is noted in other reviews the food is fabulous, no need to detail it again. So buyer beware is all I can say.. read more

This restaurant was very unprofessional. Apparently you have to make a reservation on facebook or on their website. We took forever to find this place just so that they could tell us they couldn't seat us because the place is too small, and we had no reservation. Well how were we supposed to know of we came to explore ensenada and the food and this happens. The man that told us they couldnt give us service was very kind about it but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. If you are a person that likes cheap simple things then I dont recomend this place because everyone sitting inside looked like hipsters with peircings and beards. That is the exact description of the employes as well. These two things do not make a good combination. There are also random animals roaming around the place. I have read another comment stating the same and yes there are animals there. Not that it bothers me but I was concerned about the limping dog walking around, as long they weren't using random animals like dogs and cats for for food. We dont need that incident to happen again. Another thing that bothers me is that they dont give out menus. The chefs decide what they want to give us. What if i'm not in the mood for what the chef is giving me? Personaly I love to eat. I have gone to many great placed with great food and servive and this place just wasnt one of them. I'm a person that likes to eat a lot and this place cannot offer that. I get that the theme is supposed to be fancy but the portions are too small and wont fill anyone up. Lastly, they also claim to have a great view of the valley or aka el huerto, more like el muerto. To be honest, its not that great. It's literally a bunch of dry weeds laying around. This place and the random roaming animals made me feel very eerie. In a way im thankful this happened because they made us travel a few kilometers to find Mr. Pampas. It is an amazing place with all types of juicy meats. Its a great place. If you want to eat good food/meat I recomend Mr. Pampas instead. (I hope this doesn't sound like a rant. Im just trying to help others.) read more

There is a reason why this place has top ratings. Its one of the best experiences we have ever had (we have eaten in some of the top worlds restaurants spending mucho $$$$) for $70 a person you feel like you got the deal of the century. The food/courses they offer would cost hundreds of dollars anywhere els. A Must! All farm to table, all DELISH. I will cut/copy this review for Laja as we feel the same way about that place, only difference is it comes with wine ($92 per person) How lucky are we to have 2 insane restaurants in one Valley?! read more

Excellent food chef is very creative no set menu you get whatever he decides to make that day. And whatever is growing and harvested that day. They open at 1:30 p.m. got in with No Reservations. I recommend reservations for the evening though. But the place was extremely hot, AC was very inadequate. Next time I'll go with shorts and t-shirts and flip-flops to be cool. Also they have these big sliding glass doors that wasn't sealed very well. we have to chase flies away while eating our delicious lunch. read more
