She promptly responds and handles any need in the most professional and conscientious manner. The building exterior and interior just underwent a makeover. The building was already lovely and now it is nothing short of jaw dropping! I am an interior decorator, and I have lived in high-end areas of California. But the Palms Apartments tops them all. I truly believe the owners of the building treat it as if they lived here. For all of these reasons, I am honored to be a longstanding tenant of The Palms Apartments!

The…read morebuilding's front door locks have been changed multiple time due to "past residents" entering the building with their old keys. Just recently, the building locks where changed without informing any of the current residents it was going to happen until the day they performed the action. I came home and couldn't get through the front building door! And guess how the new keys were delivered? They just dropped the new keys off outside the apartment doors, unsecured. Very smart. Also, they didn't switch all of the buildings door locks, so now we have multiple mismatch keys that work on different buildings doors. Avoid this place at all costs. I never leave reviews, this is my first, but I really hope this helps someone avoid the trouble I had to live through.

However, communication about maintenance schedules and water shutoffs could have been more consistent. We usually didn't get emails nor texts which would have been more appreciated. She does yearly inspections too. We loved that we had an online portal for payments. The apartment itself was a good sized one bedroom. We had our own heater which was inside the walk in closet. We had one parking spot for us with more storage in the parking spot. Downside of this apartment is that they are not double paned windows so dust and noise are inevitable. You hear everything. Walls are very thin. We were on the first floor and we could hear everything. There are two rooms of laundry and uses Bluetooth for payment which was amazing. However, only a few work. I believe the residents have reported it several times but no action was done. The residents of the complex were mostly couples and single residents. Only a few people had families. With that said, I think this apartment complex is more appropriate for couples and singles who are looking for a more quiet and intimate space. I wouldn't say this place is family friendly.

The whole place is gated, and my bike is not visible to anyone outside the complex, so it must mean that someone in the complex stole it. They cut my lock off and took my bike. The landlady doesn't care because she just puts signs saying she is not responsible and won't put up security cameras. She said whatever happens is your responsibility. I have lived in about 10 apartments in my lifetime and I have NEVER experienced anything like this before. My bike wasn't even worth that much so it really shows what type of low life people live here that would just steal their neighbors bike to sell. And having the landlady onsite living here is worthless since she won't do anything. This place is the most insecure place I've ever lived. Also, it's winter now and the windows are so thin, you can hear all the traffic and fire trucks pass every night. And the temperature in the apartment is just as cold as the temperature outside because there is zero insulation. This is the worst place I've ever lived and cost too much for the location. The laundry card machine is constantly broken so you can't do your laundry unless you put $100+ in your card assuming you want to live at this dump for that long because you won't get that money back if you don't use it all.

All of the neighbors were friendly, and the kids were respectful of the common areas. Very quiet at night. The maintenance staff handled all service inquiries promptly and with personal care. The property manager, Lorena, ALWAYS greeted me with a smile and a check in, which made living there feel truly like home. She went over and above her required job, even wishing me well on holidays, knowing my family was on the East Coast. My only recommendation is to convert the on-site laundry to a card system, although if keeping the coin system keeps costs low ($4 a load in 5/2026), maybe no change is needed! Ocean West is in the heart of a quiet, residential community and adjacent to a school with plenty of on street parking for guests and walkable to 711, Walmart, PetSmart, and Tokyo Central. Very close to Del Amo Mall and an 9 minute ride to the Esplanade in Redondo Beach.

Moving was definitely not my choice (long story) however it is a sad but good change. Dianne is AMAZING and such a friendly property manager. When she was out, Sandy would sometimes be there to take over and she is wonderful too. You hear light traffic noise during rush hour (mine was courtyard facing) and emergency sirens often because it is a major route to company of Mary on Torrance Blvd. I have so many good memories and basically spent my entire 20's here. Every complex has its pros and cons, and maybe because this was my first apartment I am biased. Moonraker was so good to me and I am grateful to have lived there for as long as I did.

They brought in a series of inept and down right criminal people to manage the property. At one point I might as well be living in the worst parts of Hawthorn or Inglewood living here. However, about a year and a half ago, they brought in the current manager Vanessa. When she initially came, we all thought she was going to be another short timer, doing nothing about the growing riff raff and over all deterioration of the property. However, how wrong we all were. Within six months, Vanessa had evicted all the trouble makers, cleaned up the property and got much needed repairs for the grounds. She lets each new tenant know that this is a quiet, family complex and she will not tolerate disruption. But, Vanessa is one of the most approachable managers I have ever dealt with. Her maintenance staff, Marco and Geraldo are always there when you need something fixed, even on a Sunday. The grounds keeper Alma can always be found cleaning some corner of the property and always has a friendly smile and hello! The best part about living here is that Il Pompeii is dog friendly. And Vanessa understands that our dogs are our family as well. She also understands that, this is not just an apartment complex she manages, but each unit is someones home. Sure it's an old building, sometimes things break, but it is an awesome place to live in The South Bay!

I HIGHLY recommend you take into consideration the comments on property management (aside from Kelli - she is relatively new and does try to help this goat rope of a company She is extempt from this review). While the "area" may be decent, the apartments are poorly and cheaply put together. Paint splatters everywhere, cheap appliances, no AC, huge gaps underneath the island connecting to the floor, garage storages are disgusting, and that's just a few examples. This isn't even the biggest and most disturbing issue. I say again - It's property management! One person in particular = NADIA! Nadia is only responsive when it benefits her. Otherwise, you will not hear from her. She contacted me three times for my renters insurance despite this already being sent to her via text twive AND then the 3rd time threatened to charge me for not having it on file. What's mind boggling is if what I provided wasn't sufficient documentation there should've been communication. Not one time! She even said thanks when it was provided. I digress. She rides around on her golf cart to walk her dog, leaves work early to pick up her daughter & doesn't return (I can't even begin to tell you how many times I tried to catch her in the office - never there!), and doesn't even communicate to her co-workers about the issues on this property. Kelli had no idea I was moving out. Nadia knew the day I moved out, when I followed back up and randomly stopped by because of the lack of response, and NOW I've asked about my Security Deposit twice with absolutely no response. AVOID like the plague if you want your personally identifying information protected. I will be placing identity fraud alerts on our information because who knows what lengths she will go to hurt me and my family. Original review: If I can provide less stars, I truly would. Our family of 4 resided here from May 2024 through June 2025. We did the 13 month lease with $1000 off for the life of the lease (it was a promotion that was going on at the time). Nadia Padilla is extremely UNPROFESSIONAL. From the start, we should've known, however due to circumstances out of our control, we dealt with the hands we were given. First, when we applied, she had a trainee, Kelly-- super sweet and kind, and Nadia GASPED audibly when she saw mine and my husband's paystubs as part of the application. And she asked us if it was ok to show Kelly-- stating she will be showing Kelly later anyways to process the application. Second, she took FOREVER to communicate material and necessary information about our application, deposit and move in date. She didn't get us a copy of the lease till we were moving in. Third, our laundry machine was out for over 2 months and I had to threaten legal action to get the washing machine fixed. She had us walk down our laundry two buildings down and use their washing machine, unload it and use our dryer in our unit. Mind you, in both locations, the washer and dryer are upstairs. To add insult to injury, she knew I had a newborn and a toddler -- so laundry was basically a daily thing I had to do. I got in contact with the service they contract with and I found out that she did not call them timely, and when the service person came to look at the washer, he then had to wait for Nadia to approve the parts for purchase. She did NOT return their call in a timely manner which caused delay. Again, UNPROFESSIONAL. This is a listed amenity. They cannot advertise it as part of the unit and deliberately delay the maintenance of it. Fourth, we noticed that our rent was not matching up to the numbers we were seeing. In the middle of our lease it appears they switched programs or providers of the rent management. We were previously able to pay rent ahead of the due date, but for some reason the rent was increasing despite meeting the balance. We finally inquired why there was such an increase and again, she was unprofessional and said every penny was accounted for in their ledger. Kelly, finally told us it appears there is a CREDIT of a few hundred dollars and advised us not to pay ahead and wait for the bill to actually show up to pay. It worked. Fifth, the garages are shared. Our particular unit, 2665 unit A, has two tandem parking spots that share with unit B- who also park in tandem. Unit B moved out in Nov during Thanksgiving. Because of toddler and baby, when we noticed they were no longer there, so at times we would park the car in the middle but we mostly parked within our lanes. Come December we were notified that cars will be parked next to us-- we don't know who. So for a MONTH two cars were parked next to us and it appeared as if it was to prevent us from parking more comfortably. We expressed concern about who the owners of the cars were because Nadia specifically said only people who live in our building will have access to the garage. It wasn't our neighbors' car for sure. Lastly, we cleaned this place from top to bottom for DAYS. Yet we were charged $500 for cleaning fee. For those of you who have the time to do a small claims, I would encourage you to. I say this because when our neighbors moved out, NO ONE CLEANED THAT PLACE WITHIN 21 DAYS OF THEIR MOVE OUT. In fact, that unit was not rented out until April-- and literally a week prior is when that unit had ANY cleaners and painters come. I know many will think this may be a one off, but I promise you it's not. I have been a renter for more than half my life at this point and I have never met a leasing manager this unprofessional. I hope you never have to deal with her.
