After going back and forth for over two months, fulfilling every request they made, he was still denied without a evidential valid explanation. The process was unnecessarily stressful, and the lack of communication was unacceptable. To top it off, dealing with the manager of the leasing department was an absolute nightmare. Good luck to anyone who has to interact with her. P.S. Check out the Altitude Apartments! My nephew got approved there and moved in within a few weeks. They were so kind, helpful, and accommodating during our lease here. The apartment is truly amazing. We stayed in the one bedroom loft on the fifth floor and it was so well kept upon moving in. The maintenance requests were always completed on a timely manner and we never had any issues with management. I was a big fan of all the amenities such as the pool, common area, and the gym. The apartment is reasonably priced and I always felt safe. 10/10 stars, would definitely recommend living here! read more

Pros: - FREE Shuttle station to LAX (G-Line) - Close to LAX (If you are flying in and out a lot, this apartment location will do) - Relatively quiet neighborhood if your unit isn't facing shuttle station (North facing units). - Good food truck nearby (forgot the name, but they sell delicious yet GIANT burrito). - If you walk around the neighbourhood, neighbors are nice and friendly. - Relatively safe neighbourhood - located between Inglewood/El Segundo districts. - Quick move-in/out process with management team (moving in/out process was smooth and they were very responsive). Cons: - Apartment complex gates smell like dog piss. I don't think they hose the gates down with water to get rid of the smell (?) - Sewage smell in sink/pipeline (?) Our unit had weird sewage smell coming via ventilation in the bathroom and sink. They told us it's because the weather has gotten hotter so if we don't use water everyday, the pipe will dried out and we will smell sewage. (Which didn't make sense...?) Anyway, I'm glad that I'm out of this place. - NON-RESPONSIVE Emergency maintenance request - (This is awhile ago). We got back from our trip (out-of-state) and we couldn't find our key. So, we thought we lost it and got locked out of our apartment. It was Sunday (office was closed). So, we called emergency maintenance number and left 2-3 voice messages, but, we never got any calls back (even to this day). THANKFULLY, we found our key in our luggage and was able to get into our unit without their help. Just imaging how terrible the situation would've been, if we really DID lose our key that day...so unreliable. read more

Horrible parking system! My car was towed away 3 times from the guest parking but it was empty! And I was resident and my car had resident sticker! What the reason takeaway residential cars?! I paid $300 for each time! Marijuana smoke everywhere, barbecue was closed or broken, pool was closed when every apartments was open around Us! By the way modern kitchen and new, odorless renovation. Absolutely loved this place! I had a great time living here. It was relatively quiet and private. I enjoyed that there were several amenities, although didn't have a chance to make good use of them. We did have regular inspection so the staff will need access to your apartment. Always felt safe and secure. The locker for the mail is great wish more places had them. The alarms are very sensitive so be careful with that. Love the online payment system, very modern and convenient. It also has plenty of guest parking which guest can register. read more

I would like to update my review since South Bay management finally acknowledged this review 5 months later. I wanted to preface that our rental renewal is purely out of sheer convenience - definitely not due to: - 6%+ yearly increase in rent - Another one of our cars was broken into (at least 8+ cars were broken into during this particular incident - When I talked to the police, he mentioned during a previous car brake-in incident over a year ago... he talked to Kirstin, suggesting that cameras should be installed on every floor - obviously this advice wasn't taken seriously until after this incident happened) - Hallway floors aren't cleaned (Last seen someone sweep was 4+ months ago) - due to the freeway and airport, layers of dust are collected and it's noticeable where people commonly walk and and areas where the dirt and fur accumulate. - Security is horrible - within the past two years: we personally experienced two car break-ins, stolen packages, multiple homeless people using the pool showers Condescending emails, inflated rent prices, do not make this place worth it. I advise you to rent elsewhere. Bell South Bay management says that they care, but it seems they only care when it makes them look good, when they are trying to save face, or when it benefits them. If they truly cared, they would have actively reached out months ago and not reply with some half-assed response on social media telling us to reach out to them. Own up to your negligence and apologize for your accusations. Oh, and there are cockroaches around the apartment complex, also saw a dead rat once. YIKES! read more

This is the second time I am leaving a review here. Last time was about 1.5 year ago when I moved in. This time I am moving out to my own place. The management team has been very helpful with my move-in process, my renewal process, and my move out process. My move in was smooth, had a good deal, and loved the amenities. The renewal process was on the pricy side, but I was able to talk to Jason and got it down a bit. Our amenities took longer than some apt complex to open up, which is a bit of the downside, but when at the time of my move, they just opened so hopefully people who are interested in the place will get a chance to use them. My move out was smooth as well, I transferred my lease to someone as I purchased my own place, and the transfer was on a tight timeline, but the team helped me get everything done in time. I've had a great experience living at Bell South Bay and have been here for over a year. When you're a good, respectful resident the management really treats you well. I can tell that they are fair and reasonable in all of their dealings. The community is always very clean and I always see staff, maintenance, and management working hard to make sure everything is in order. I love that they have installed Parcel Pending lockers for package delivery so that packages are securely kept until you are able to pick them up (which you can do 24/7). Just before our baby was born we decided we'd like to move from a one bedroom to a two bedroom within the complex and they made the process very simple for us. Also, when I had my keys stolen they were super quick to replace the locks on our doors so that we could feel secure. I love Kirstin and Jason and know I can go to them with any issues that might arise (which are few). I can tell that they genuinely want to make the experience of living at Bell South Bay a positive one and are always thinking of ways to do so. While there's not a lot directly surrounding the complex it is centrally located and easy to get to El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Playa de Rey, Culver City, Inglewood, etc. read more

Jason, the apartment manager, and Kent, his leasing consultant, are absolutely amazing! They are friendly and warm, yet very business professional. They have created a nice community here at Bell South Bay, that makes it feel more and more like home everyday. I moved out of my house and into these apartments in November of 2018, and I wasn't sure how I would transition back to apartment life, but the privacy and amenities provided in this complex make me truly feel that I made the right choice in selecting this luxury apartment to call home. It is only 2 miles from LAX so it makes it great for travel, but the airplane noise is non-existent. It is right next to the Metro rail station which is great for commuting, but the train noise is also virtually non-existent. If you are looking for a new place to call home, Jason and Kent will not disappoint - I love the changes they are making to upgrade the building, and make it a tighter community. read more

I lived at Bell for 14 months and ended my lease in July 2018. I've never been so happy to leave an apartment since I begun renting in LA 7 years ago. I moved to Bell from a building in DT to be closer to work. Leasing/Move-In: I moved into​ the building when it was called Avaire. ​The leasing process was pretty easy and the assistant manager at the time, James, was super helpful and responsive during the process. The property was fairly empty when I moved in which was pretty nice. One issue I had when moving in is that there is no freight elevator. We had to move my couch in by building by driving it up the parking structure in the back of my truck. (3.5 stars to Aviare and the old team) Ownership Change: The ownership changed halfway through my lease to Bell along with rebranding the complex to Bell South Bay. During the transition process, communication was sparse​ and confusing. There were​ several issues with their payment portal and all package delivery notifications stopped. Parking: Several comments have been made on the parking issue at Bell. The parking lot has several "car eating" speed bumps every 25 yards or so. Its nice for slowing cars down (for those who care about their car) but it takes you 5-10 mins to get up the structure. Bell changed the permits where you can park on any floor. Most residents now park on the lower floors so they don't have to drive up the structure which creates an inconvenience​ to the residents who live on the lower floors. Parking is a free-for-all​ unless you pay extra for a priority​ space. They send very stern emails about the parking structure and towing but its all bark. Location: I moved into the building mainly for its location to my office which was one block away. It's an​ ok location if you are a regular visitor to the airport and a quick jump to the freeway but there is nothing around the apartment. Being so close to the airport and the train station, you also have several sketchy people and airport employees parking in the neighborhood at night and over the weekend when there are no parking restrictions. It makes the area look undesirable especially​ with all the trash they leave behind. Security: Is a joke. They've changed security companies several times during my lease and they've all been the same. I once found a guard asleep on the back steps when I was going out to walk my dog. The company they are currently using just walks around scanning the RFID​ stickers on the doors but I rarely run into them on my many walks in and around the property. With the train station nearby, there are several homeless people who find their way in the building at night and sleep on the couches and stairwells. I always carried pepper spray with me because​ I never felt fully safe. Policies​: The smoking, parking, ​and noise​ policies are loosely enforced. While walking around the apartment, I would see several people on the balconies smoking. I would even notice the security guard walk right by and not say anything. Noise in the common areas is common and some neighbors have regular parties. One of my neighbors two doors down had a party every weekend. It took several residents complaining​ and an altercation​ between another resident, a ​security guard​, and a complaint to the police department for the management to take action. I've noticed almost all the units with small children on my side of the building have since moved out. Facilities: The building is decent condition now mostly because​ it's new. The hallways were cleaned once right after I moved in (from the company who constructed the property) but have never been touched since. The fixtures in the building are very cheap and showing their age quicker than​ should be expected. The walls are thin and I could always hear the person walking around above me. The elevators are super slow and you don't have a choice to take the stairs as there​ is no way to unlock them from the first floor. Amenities: The common areas are tiny for a building of that size. On evenings and weekends, the pool is packed with screaming kids and adults laying around drinking. There is always a party/event going on in the clubhouse and it's rare to find it with no one using it. The management sends emails out stating you can only have 3 guests​ per unit but they never enforce this. Move-Out: They are going to comb over your apartment and withhold anything they see no matter how tiny, even what you might call normal wear and tear for a cheap apartment. It's best to hire their suggested cleaning service and complete the walkthrough​ with them present. Lesson learned here. First time I've had to deal with this level of scrutiny​ in my renter's history. Overall: Unless you work at the airport or LAAFB every day​ and love screaming families, look elsewhere​. They are building several buildings on the other side of the airport that will have all the new big complex features that you'd find at Bell. read more

My husband and I were looking for a new place to move in for a while and came across Bell South Bay. Kirstin was the first person we touched basis with. She was amazing from the very beginning with answering questions, scheduling a tour, being quick to respond and making sure we had what we needed to cement our move in date. Kirstin made the process of moving in and settling into our new apartment much easier and smoother than we could have imagined. To date, this place has been great. We only encountered one issue - noisy upstairs neighbors. When my husband and I brought this to Kirstin's attention, she immediately took action and resolved the situation quickly and amicably. Since the resolution, my husband and I are now obsessed with this place. Coming from our last building - a high rise in Koreatown, we felt as though we were just another number/dollar sign. But here, we feel part of a family. You can actually feel that Kirstin and her team care. They recognize everyone by name and care about their past, present and future tenants. I mean, just today, a package was delivered to my front door for the previous resident. Kirstin personally picked it up and is acting as a liaison to get the former tenant their package. I mean who does that? Someone great - which is Kirstin! If you are thinking about moving here - stop thinking and just move. You won't regret it! read more

I haven't moved in yet, i move in soon, but anyone i have told i am living there, who knows the area, is very impressed. But i cannot stress enough how well the grounds are maintained and the quality of the community amenities. Very glad I stumbled across these apartments. I have lived here for 2 1/2 years. The on-site staff is great and keep the property in good condition. They are responsive and supportive. The corporate office, however, is not so great. That have non-friendly policies toward residents. Most recently, they have decided to take advantage of the pandemic. Even though County Health has said private multi resident pools could be open, over a month later ours are not. Even though more than 3 weeks ago health said gyms can be open, ours are not. This is done by corporate policy. When I called the corporate office, they hid behind small print in the lease agreement. When I challenged them and said I understand these clauses for short term maintenance fixes and such or if things were damaged/broke and need to be repaired, but in this instance, there is no reason to keep things closed. They said they didn't have the staff to monitor the areas. I said a simple security camera can fix that. It was all a big excuse and told them when they sell the property to potential residents, they highlight the amenities. There is a reasonable expectation that those amenities will be accessible and usable. When I asked for a lower rent since I am paying for amenities that I can't use that are allowed to be open, I was told no. They are taking advantage of the current situation to make a buck. If you want to live here, also do so at your own risk. Be careful of the lease agreement. It requires 60 days notice to leave. If you are familiar with SoCal real estate, that is a ridiculous requirement. Other places won't even sign you unless you are under 30 days. So you have to give notice before you can even find a new place. Finding a new place in SoCal isn't the easiest too. This is just another example of their inflexible and uncaring corporate policies. It makes it nearly impossible to move out, all the while they raise your rent at the end of your agreement or charge you a significant amount more for shorter term agreements. It isn't a bad place to be. Prices are a little pricey for the size of apartments, but I figure a lot of that is due to the amenities...which we are currently not allowed to use despite having clearance from county health. read more

Pros: - The utilities such as the gym, pool and recreation room are very nice. - It's a fairly new building so overall construction is solid and has nice finishes. It's a very modern building and the inside of the apartments are nice. The appliances and cabinets are also decent quality. - If you don't mind a lot of noise (more on that below), the location is great - The maintenance crew is amazing, professional, and very responsive. Cons: - The management: Although nice at first, if it's not a basic maintenance issue they are unreasonable and unwilling to help if you have a problem. It's obvious they put on a smile when you speak with them directly, but then don't care the moment you leave their office. I never had the feeling they genuinely cared about their residents. I lived there shortly after the building opened and the old management group when it was still called Avaire South Bay was much better. They were amazing, but once the building was bought out by Bell all of them were let go and they brought in all new staff. - Pets: In addition to a $500 (refundable) pet deposit, there is a $50 monthly charge which is fine (if not expensive, many places are $25/month). However, they then tried to charge me $300 for a non-refundable pet deposit even though it was no where on my lease nor on their website. They said it is their "corporate policy", however this policy isn't displayed anywhere. They eventually dropped it because of this, but trying to charge this in the first place is shady. -Noise/Dirt: We had an apartment facing the Green Line Metro. When moving in they mentioned there would be a little noise, but that they have noise blocking windows that meet LA code standards. Maybe they do, but it definitely does not block out enough noise. We could hear every plane, train, and bus that came by which continues from early morning until around 12:30am. In addition to this our patio was basically un-useable due to the amount of dirt/pollution that would accumulate on our deck on a weekly basis. The smog/dirt that the buses and/or trains give off is a lot and our deck would get coated in black soot. Don't expect to be able to put any flowers, delicate plants, or any furniture that you may want to use outside because it gets disgusting within 2 weeks. - Parking: Parking on your floor is not guaranteed, the entire lot is on a first come first serve basis. The only way to get an assigned spot is to pay an additional monthly fee, I believe it was ~$50/month. When we first moved in we were told although not assigned, we would be able to park on our floor easily. This is not always the case. They also don't enforce their parking policy evenly. I had a rental car for 2 days and on the first day I didn't register it through their new guest parking service. They towed my car overnight because it didn't have a sticker. However, I had previously seen many other cars that were there for days if not weeks without stickers. It was my fault for leaving it that one night without a sticker, but I also didn't think one night would be an issue since they let many others slide. I even let them know in advance I would be in a rental, the least they could have done was asked me if that car was mine. - "Security": They have 24/7 security that walks the perimeters which is very nice. However, half the time I saw guards standing in one place playing on their phones. A few of them were very nice and patrolled regularly, but the other half were just there for show. - Elevators/Fire Alarms: The elevator closest to our door was not working at least 30% of the time. Also, although it got better the last few months we were there, previously there was a building fire alarm that forced us to evacuate almost once per month. It's like I was back in my college dorm. - Rent/Costs: As mentioned with thet pets, they nickel and dime you for everything and their website is not transparent about this. Another example is the trash valet which was $25/month. Sure, if you hate taking out the trash it's a nice service to offer, but unfortunately it's mandatory. You have to pay for it, no choice, even if the trash room is 2 doors away. FYI, they might give you a good move in deal, but expect them to significantly jack up the price after the first year. Recently CA enacted a max annual rent increase, I believe its 7-9% depending on the district. Their renewal offer was 13%...after I told them I was planning on moving they didn't even try to negotiate. I didn't bother telling them they were breaking the law since the huge YOY price increase was the last straw for us to move out. I'll close by saying I have never had a problem with a previous rental and have excellent rental history. We were at this apartment for a little over 2 years, but with all of the issues listed above, we found there were much better places out there if you were willing to move out a little from their convenient location. read more

Only one I'm not suspicious about and that's because they wrote real facts... especially regarding "speed bumps" and guest pass procedures that I'm not really too thrilled about myself. On a positive note... I hardly hear neighbors. The new teams energy is amazing! They are upbeat and easy going to say the least. I don't see homeless people walking around the buildings or weird characters at all. Where are you living? I think the security does a good job at knowing who is who. There's a good mix of ethnicities which some people (may) have a problem with ... I'm just saying. (Smh) we've renewed our lease and I'm sure that we wouldn't have had the old management stayed.
