Came here yesterday for dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It has an industrial chic vibe with a gorgeous wrap-around bar area. My server, Bridget, was friendly and attentive as was the hostess and the lady who brought my food to my table. Happy hour Old Fashioned - small in amount and very sweet. I guess I can't hold the sweetness against the bartender, as people have different preferences for their old fashioned. The quantity left a lot to be desired, though. Potted crab dip- absolutely delicious. Rich and flavorful, with thick chunks of crab. The accompanying toasted sourdough bread was the perfect compliment. Bridgette even brought extra out for me to have with my leftovers. Colada Dreams - mmmm, delicious! Like a Pina Coloda, as you might have guessed. Seabass - At first taste, its light and prepared in a manner that allows its natural flavors to shine. After a few more bites, however, I'm hit with Salt. Too much Salt. Very disappointing. Chocolate Truffle cake- small yet rich and decadent. Adding a bit more icecream would help cut the richness of chocolate. They have bottomless brunch! The food is little bit expensive but the quality is worth it. It's great on Sunday's because everyone there is watching the football games. You can make it fancy or casual if you want. We got the steak tartare and Hamachi Crudo. The steak tartare is different from Korean tartare. But I love the combination in it with a Smokey flavor and the crudo I loved the sauce it was in plus the pepper really brings it out. I would recommend coming here again. read more

Cordelia is a real winner!! Met and exceeded my expectations on food, service, and vibe. We stopped in to grab a drink but ended up also grabbing a couple of small bites. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. We were able to snag a couple of seats at the bar during their Sunday brunch. We ordered an app and a side of the thick cut fries. The Chicken Chermoula is out of this world. It's a harissa spiced chicken thigh placed on this delicious spiced yogurt and is topped with chimichurri. Hats off to the chef for creating this masterpiece of a dish. I can't wait to go back to try some of the other dishes. Seems like a great option for celebrations and special occasions. read more

The star of the show is the hospitality. As far as I'm concerned this is Ebon's restaurant. He may have been the server, but he 'served'. I have grown increasing respect and appreciation for quality service. This man knew the menu backward and forward and recited it to us with such zeal. You could just feel the authentic appreciation he had for people, and that made the meal even more savory. I wanted to sit outside because it was a beautiful day in February but honestly, the vibes of the interior were too captivating to leave after we went to the hostess stand. The sunlight in the window seats is magical. This is another restaurant where I wouldn't have minded sitting at the bar. I feel like we got a well balanced selection of plates. With a very palette pleasing grilled French toast. The salad featuring apples and celery was delicious. And I unfortunately I'm not a big crabcake person, but the crab Benedict was all made in house, as Ebon shared, and I appreciate the culinary effort. My understanding is they have a 100% satisfaction policy, where they will replace anything that you don't love. We didn't send anything back! Incredible experience. Service and food were stellar. All the recommendations from the server and hostess were on point. Restaurant is a nice ambiance and Evon was the best server we have had dining out in a while who didn't mind us lingering longer to catch up with our friends. Our friends had been for dinner and loved their food, so we came back to try brunch. The jumbo lump crab gratin in particular stood out - perfectly grilled bread and creamy, decadent crab spread. We're able to share it for four people. The avocado crab toast was also good. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits. The fennel seed and Aleppo oil calamari sauce was so yummy. The apple and celery salad with cheddar, dates, pistachio and hot honey vinaigrette came together so well and was really refreshing. Good Bloody Mary. Everything we tried was on point. The dining room is nicely appointed with spacious tables and booths that line the windows facing Morse street. The staff is attentive without hovering to much. We ordered really good apps and food. We started with the grilled squid, Brussels sprouts. The entrees the crabcake with, fries, and coleslaw, roast chicken, I believe a fish sandwich with fries, and drinks. Food was excellent. My sister recommended this restaurant in the Union Market area (which is super busy these days but close to home) so it was easy to get here in time for a nice dinner with out of town friends. So I met my sis and some cousins from out of town on a Friday night and was so pleasantly impressed!! The food was OUTSTANDING AND SO WAS THE SERVICE!! The restaurant is lovely inside and very romantic as there were several couples dining in being super cozy. Definitely a date spot. Found this place on most of the recommended and best places to eat at Union Market. We were seated promptly by the host and our server, Amy, put as at ease while she patiently oriented us to the menu. The food was amazing! From the Pan Rustico which was warm bread served with butter whipped with anchovy, olive oil and parsley, to the Rhode Island Calamari and the Coal-Roasted Oysters we shared. My main entree hit the spot for me. It was a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake served with corn & tomato chesapeake, a side of perfectly seasoned french fries and old bay aioli. The corn and tomato was sweet and had a slight kick of Old Bay seasoning which complements the fresh and savory crab cake patty. I wasn't sure whether we would like Cordelia Fishbar because it's the same ownership as places like Clyde's and Old Ebbitt Grill, and the food doesn't usually overly impress me - however I was quite wrong. The food, service, and space were all lovely, and it was quite an experience. We walked in to a beautiful room that really makes you feel like you're in a nautical world. The service we got was extremely friendly and professional at the same time, and the descriptions detailed and well done. We had great cocktails, including an amazing clarified milk punch, and we had a very solid assortment of oysters. Every appetizer was good, but my favorite was the coal roasted oysters, they were just absolutely spectacular, followed closely by the calamari which was perfectly seasoned and splendid without being fried! The wine list is a bit young, and the fluke that was supposed to be the star of the show was good, but not as good as the appetizers. The desserts were decent as well, but the best part is the Champagne happy hour after 9pm alongside some discounted oysters. If you're looking to save money this is not the place, but if you're looking to eat some good seafood you've found a good place. read more

By the time we were ready to order, the server shared his recommended dishes and they were all fantastic. Cordelia offers a happy hour special so my friend and I went on a Thursday. I will say that they have discounted fresh oysters at a great price, but the happy hour itself is more limited. It's therefore less satisfying since it doesn't have great cocktail specials or small plates happy hour specials. Service could also be inconsistent, there was once or twice we had to flag down a waiter instead of someone checking on us. The host, two waitresses and manager were all incredibly nice and helpful in choosing what to order. we were skeptical about the calamari because we had only had fried previously, but ended up, loving this dish. After we got our food, we didn't see much of her though and weren't able to order another round of drinks until we'd finished our meal. The food, for the most part, was very good. I loved the roasted oysters, the crab gratin and the half chicken entree was a 10/10. The trout needed a tad bit of salt, but was cooked perfectly. We didn't too much care for the rice and peas, the overly charred calamari that was burnt on the bottom and the spaghettini that was so heavily covered in breadcrumbs, it overpowered the meal. This is a really nice newish fish place in Union Market, one of my fave parts of town. If you want to get a bunch of friends together, do it, because there's a lovely huge bar here with some good happy hour deals. We enjoyed our dinner, especially the crab cake and the amazing sweet potatoes that came with it along with the salad. Also, there was a great trout dish for less than $30! I visited Cordelia on a Sunday for brunch. The restaurant has a nice vibe and the staff are very friendly. Our server was great, very attentive and checked on us often throughout our meal. I ordered a mocktail which was very tasty and refreshing. We ordered the cinnamon roll to start which was good. The only disappointment was my food. I ordered the shrimp and grits. I was starving, so when I saw how small the portion was I was extremely frustrated. It was the size of an appetizer, not an entree. My friend ordered it as well and she was always disappointed. There was barely a scoop of grits on the plate. I told the server I was disappointed and all he said was "I'm sorry". For $26, I would expect way more food. My friends ordered the steak and eggs and the eggs Benedict and their plates were full and a great portion. I wish I had ordered something else and unfortunately I left hungry. I am not sure I would visit again. If you do visit, definitely choose another menu item! read more

Great seafood restaurant to have in the neighborhood! I moved to Union Market recently and set a goal to try every restaurant and bar around. My best friend, a fellow seafood lover was in town so Cordelia was the perfect place to take her. We started the night off with the Mermaid shellfish tower which was the perfect serving size for three people. For our entrees, we went with the whole back sea bass, giant tiger prawns, and the ribeye. For side dishes, we did the creamed Swiss chard and heirloom carrots. We shared everything which was perfect for trying many options on the menu. We really enjoyed everything we had besides the ribeye, I don't recommend that item. For drinks, we had the bye Felicia, smoke on the water, and red wine (can't recall which one) but we loved them all! What I liked most about Cordelia was the staff, they were kind, attentive , and made good recommendations. I definitely plan to visit again and perhaps sit at the bar. read more

The rest of the food was solid too such as the prawn and waffle being filling, burger being surprisingly awesome even though it's a seafood joint, beets being refreshing, and the zesty potatoes giving an oomph. I do think the bass was overpriced and should've come with sides for being over $40, but all right nonetheless. Liked the atmosphere inside, very nice, clean, and slightly upscale. Union Market has become a nice hang of an area! We walked inside and the decor was set up nicely. Totally fine for a bar dinner hang or sit down style. The service was great. Everyone chipped in and took orders or asked if we were OK. It wasn't solely the waitress that took care of our needs. We as a table got calamari, pan rustico and coal roasted oysters to start. Everything tasted great. For our mains, we got the hamburger, pork chop, giant prawns and king salmon. We also took on an extra side in the carrots. The portions were huge. I would recommend splitting a plate with the person you came with to try it all. The cocktails were not the selling point, so I would recommend coming specifically for the food and not a drink or two by the bar. We ordered oysters, a refreshing crab salad, road island calamari, ember-roasted beets, coal roasted oysters, whole Black Sea bass, and for a nice drink the Bye Felicia . For dessert we got the sweet potatoes brûlée (HIGHLY recommend this dessert), mascarpone, and ice cream sorbet. Love all of these. ***New restaurant alert*** If there are giant prawns in the DMV and I know about them, I'm coming! I saw this new restaurant in Union Market open up and they served giant prawns, so it was a no-brainer.. We coming! I got there a little early and kicked it at the oversized bar. I noticed the Apple Cider Sangria was made with Bourbon and not Rum and I gave it a try.. Freaking delicious! I would describe Cordelia Fishbar as an upscale casual restaurant. It's also the newest edition under the "Clyde's" brand, which has been a DC mainstay since Old Ebbit Grill and fits in perfectly. The coal-roasted Oysters and Giant Prawns were amazing. The whole "Black Bass" was perfectly seasoned.. A little boney and was served warm not hot. The brussel sprouts were disappointing. It was definitely a single serving size and less than luke warm and for $12, they should give a little more. Service was great but it does, in my opinion, have an inherent problem. It's right across the street from my favorite Union Market restaurant, St. Anselm, which is extremely similar to Cordelia, just a little sexier! read more

After a day of running DC errands, it was time for some Sunday Funday. And Cordelia Fishbar Union Market was ON POINT!!! I cozied up at the bar where Joe took wonderful care of me. I couldn't resist the Bottomless Tiki Cocktails. And they were delish and made fresh, not batched. My favorite was the "Follow Your Nose," which deliciously exploded on my palette. For brunch , they didn't have the Warm Lobster Roll , so I went with Joe's recommendation of the "Fried Giant Prawns & Waffles." And because I loooovvveee mushrooms, I also went with a side of the "Maitake Mushrooms." Both were wonderful. The Maitake mushrooms were nice and meaty with a tangy sweet mix. I met some friends here for happy hour and I apologize. I did not take any pictures. The happy hour menu was very subpar. They did have a seasonal spiced apple sangria that was really delicious but other than that the only thing we ordered were brussels sprouts and fries. Solid french fries and I absolutely adore the mini bottles of hot sauce they give you with your oysters, you just have to request it. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Upon arrival for brunch we were greeted with fresh juices. This was a nice surprise. However things took a slight turn after this. While our waitress was nice, she was MIA, and the restaurant seemed understaffed during the brunch time. We ordered sparkling water and she brought the bottle but no glasses. After 10 minutes of no one passing our table we noted glasses behind us and served ourselves. It also took a while to finally get an espresso order in, but they ended up comping it which was completely unexpected but appreciated. For brunch we ordered the whole black bass with brown butter and black garlic sauces and Dutch baby. The bass was slightly undercooked and actually relatively small. The black butter garlic sauce was a good compliment and flavorful. The Dutch baby was not great. It was dense and not light and airy as a baked Dutch pancake usually is. It was also gummy in the center. I'm not sure that I would try this place again, although I have heard great things about the raw bar. But given the poor service I am not sure that it's worth a second try. read more
