What a hidden gem. I never heard of Dauphine's until one of my friends recommended it. I was really pleased by the experience. The service was great. I met some friends at the bar and the hostess took me right to them when I walked in. When I reached the bar the bartender immediately greeted me and gave me a menu. He gave me some suggestions for drinks and food. He was extremely personable, attentive and friendly. I ordered the Negroni and a dozen of the half shell oysters. The Negroni was very strong but refreshing. The oysters were delicious. They gave me all the fixings such as horseradish, hot sauce, cocktail sauce, and vinegar. They tasted amazing. The ambiance was very upscale. It was very crowded but all of the staff were attentive and well trained. They have two levels and also a patio for guests, the bar was rather long and offered a lot of seating. Overall, it was a great experience. I will be back soon. Cheers! read more

I believe the eggs were a bit undercooked or were not poached correctly. The shrimp po'boy, according to my friends, said it was good bit too spicy for their liking. The other two loved their dishes. The appetizers were fantastic. The service staff were polite and kind. Though I will say it was kinda slow due to how packed it was. We had a great time overall- I had heard mixed reviews so was a little hesitant but the food was really good! The bread service was truly exceptional- everything was so buttery and amazing. The roasted rabbit was great, my husband got the tuna steak and enjoyed that a lot, the pepper sauce on it really brought it home. Service was friendly but the dishes took awhile to come out to the point that we considered canceling a few items. We had oysters, bread service, fried boudin balls, and crispy fried artichoke to start. The sweet potato brioche was *chef kiss*. For mains we ordered the smoked sirloin, and 2 other dishes that I can't remember but we devoured, and a side of the collard greens. But they couldn't have been more welcoming. Truly set the tone right away. The interiors are beautiful--very chic, very date-night energy, though you could make it work for a family meal too. It's one of those places that feels elevated without being intimidating (despite my initial fears). Service was thoughtful throughout. They didn't rush us at all, even when our friend arrived a bit late--and she didn't order food, which sometimes gets side-eye at places like this, but not here. Zero fuss. Drinks were a great start. Solid local beer selection--cold and reasonably priced--and a diverse cocktail menu. My friend's julep apparently packed a serious punch and was excellent. Now, the food. We started with the bread service, and honestly--it slapped. The sweet potato baguette and biscuits were buttery, soft, melt-in-your-mouth good. Didn't even need the fig jalapeño jam or the cream on the side (and that's saying something). The oysters were a bit of a moment--grilled but served on ice, which threw us off for a second. Hot meets cold is a choice. But garlicky oysters with cheese? I'm not about to complain. For mains, we had the pork chop, catfish, and collard greens: * Catfish: Pro tip--get a bit of everything in one bite. The broth is on the saltier side, while the fish and other elements are more subtle, so it all balances out together. Really well thought out dish. * Pork chop: Massive. Perfectly fried, but about halfway through it did get a little monotonous. Came with fried Brussels sprouts (could've used more) and a polenta-style base. Solid, just slightly out of proportion with the sides. * Collard greens: Well executed. It's collards--done right, no complaints. We ended with the semifreddo, and I'm very glad we did. Not overly sweet, nicely balanced, and the nuts added great texture. A strong finish. Overall: great service, beautiful space, and very good food. It's a beautiful ambiance, friendly staff and we were seated quickly. They had kids crayons (and they were hexagon shaped so they don't roll of the table - my favorite touch at the restaurant!). Bathrooms clean. The highlight of the food was the bread service! We ordered one to go bc we enjoyed it the most. We also got beignets to go and they were just okay. The rest of the food was lacking. We ordered the striped bass with curry and the grilled ribeye. The fish was fine but my husband felt pretty sick later from the curry most likely. And said they curry flavor was pretty bad as someone who knows and enjoys various curry's. The steak (I ordered well done bc I am pregnant) was super salty and the salsa on the side was very oily, and the corn side dish with peppers was very sour like very pickled (just so you know what the flavors are like, if this is a New Orleans thing maybe others enjoy that). It was honestly hard to finish the steak but we did just bc we were starving. It was so salty I had to pass some to my husband (and I'm someone who likes salty food). Celebrated a birthday dinner at Dauphine's and left with mixed feelings. The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening, which was great to see, but service felt a bit disjointed. We had three different servers throughout the meal, which may have been due to staffing challenges. While everyone was pleasant, the experience lacked consistency. I also noticed the manager/general manager circulating through the dining room but never stopping by our table to greet us or check on our experience, which felt like a missed opportunity, especially as first-time guests celebrating a special occasion. For drinks, I ordered the Hurricane and my partner had the Sazerac. Both were enjoyable, although the Hurricane was served in a glass packed with ice, making it feel like I finished the actual cocktail in just a few minutes. We started with the Pommes Souffle. Unfortunately, they didn't meet expectations. Rather than being light, airy, and crispy, they were somewhat flat and soft, almost as if they had been sitting too long. For our entrees, I had the Blackened Catfish Creole and my partner ordered the Grilled Tuna au Poivre. Both dishes were flavorful and well-prepared. The catfish was especially enjoyable. The tuna tasted good as well, though we expected it to be sliced thin to better absorb the sauce and complement the dish. We also ordered a side of red beans and rice, which was a nice addition. Dessert was a highlight. The panna cotta and chocolate cheesecake with raspberry sorbet were both excellent and ended the meal on a strong note. Overall, I expected a bit more given the restaurant's Michelin recognition displayed at the hostess stand. I have to start with the service. We had the absolutely best server. He gave us great suggestion and was ridiculously pleasant. He gave me real Southern charm and I was feeling the energy. He also checked on us so often, even with a Saturday night dinner rush. The food blew my mind. We ordered the baked stuffed shells and the Branzino at the suggestion of our server. To say both were amazing is an understatement. The flavor was unparalleled and all complimented each other. It was a lighter meal which I love because pasta can leave you feeling over full. Yes, we were one of those people who came to use their Chase Sapphire Reserve credit.... BUT - we had an amazing time at Dauphines! It was my birthday, so aside from the credit we had something to celebrate and Dauphine's delivered. #1 we made our reservation through OpenTable about a week in advance, and being the holidays, the tables were pretty booked but managed to get a spot on a Sunday night. #2 in our reservation we noted that we'd like to request the Duck Jambalaya (half not expecting the restaurant would even read it). But upon being seated our waitress actually came over and told us that they held it just for us! We were super impressed. Duck Jambalaya: Honestly this was more of a "biryani"-like dish than a jambalaya. Each person gets their own plate of duck, sauerkraut, and Duck sausage. Then they serve you a bowl of the jambalaya which had pieces of duck and a Duck mousse or some sort. Once the waiter mixed it all I couldn't taste much of the mousse expect for pieces here and there, but what I did taste of it was delicious! Also for $90 there is a decent amount of duck in this dish. The jambalaya did get a little too spicy for me the more we kept eating, so if you can't handle spice like me then this may not be the dish for you. Was kind of upset because it was actually super tasty. Also not a big sauerkraut fan but I found Dauphine's sauerkraut to be a bit more mild and actually everything went well together. Fried Boudin Balls: Kind of like arancini balls but comes with sausage inside. Served with crackers, mustard, jalapeños, and sauerkraut. Again, everything worked well together. Didn't expect that a fried sausage ball on top of a pickle on a cracker with mustard was the combo I needed but I'm so glad I tried. Oysters Dauphine: This one was on me, but we ate the boudin balls before the oysters so by the time we had the oysters the cheese had congealed and the oysters were cold. So don't do that. The flavor was good and very cheesy. A super cute and cozy restaurant especially during the holidays! If you're thinking about coming here because you also havw the Chase credit, definitely recommend! We don't love coming to DC so honestly probably wouldn't come otherwise, but given how much we enjoyed it we'd consider coming back. read more

I was highly impressed by the ambience and the charming nature of the staff here. *started writing a review, didn't finish, came back for brunch on a Saturday* **and now a few more times since then** Happy Hour here is always a good idea. Dauphine's been on my list since 2022, but I forgot about it until last week. The interior has a beautiful ambiance with green accents which goes well with the holiday decor they currently have. My friend and I were sat at a table on the second floor, and the service was quick. We finished eating within an hour of arrival. Between the two of us, we shared a "small plate" and got our own "large plate." OYSTERS DAUPHINE (5) - 22 Each order comes with five oysters, and my friend was nice enough to let me eat three! The oysters were broiled, and topped generously with bits of spinach, horseradish, pecorino. It was quite savory and cheesy with a bit of a kick. Oysters themselves were pretty fresh. These were good, but nothing outstanding. BLACKENED CATFISH CREOLE - 28 In pictures, the catfish creole didn't appear the most appetizing, but I was feeling something seafood for my entree, so I took the risk. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors. The sauce was very hearty and not heavy, the catfish was pan-seared perfectly, and the grits and sauteed vegetables were the perfect base and topping. I would highly recommend. SMOKED SIRLOIN STEAK - 37 My friend ordered this for himself, and we both thought the steak had the essence of Texas BBQ smokiness and flavor, but the texture of corned beef. Very interesting. It was easy to chew. Pretty good from the few bites I got to enjoy. The food was delicious, definitely better than I thought. However, the pricing is crazy. I really wanted to love this place. Dauphine's has all the makings of a standout dining experience before the food ever arrives. The interior is genuinely beautiful--dark wood paired with clean white subway tiles gives the space a polished, classic feel. The bar is warm and welcoming, and it immediately sets the expectation for something special. We came during Restaurant Week, and while I went in with realistic expectations, I still hoped for a solid representation of New Orleans-inspired cuisine. Unfortunately, like many other reviewers have noted, the food was bland across the board. It had the essence of New Orleans (not Nawlins) but none of the bold flavor, depth, or soul. The bread service was, without question, the best part of the meal. Warm, comforting, and the only thing we finished without hesitation. The mussels were confusing and disappointing. Sauerkraut and sour cream in the center was unexpected and not well thought out. The broth itself was boring, and because the mussels were wide open, beyond they way they open after cooking,none of the flavor had a chance to penetrate the meat. The portion was also very small. Later at the bar, we watched a couple seated next to us receive their oysters. They both took a visible double take, flipped one over to inspect whatever was sitting inside the shell, and then quietly pushed the plate away. The lobster fritters were not fritters at all. They were essentially fried mashed potato balls. Biting into a mushy, undercooked potato interior was surprising and off-putting. The blackened catfish was not blackened. It was lightly seared with a few spices, lacking the heat, crust, and complexity that define a blackened dish. The beef shank was the most decent entrée, thanks to the tomato-based component and barley. However, it was very fatty, and the tomato sauce made it impossible to see or avoid the fat. I found myself having to separate it in my mouth just to eat around it. The red beans and rice were abysmal and it should be removed from the menu. The king cake bread pudding tasted more like a dense butter cake and came with nothing more than a small dollop of vanilla ice cream. The one consistent bright spot was the bar. The Sazerac and Old Fashioned were excellent. As excited as I was going in, we only truly finished the bread and the drinks. After spending over $200, we went home and ate leftovers from Sunday dinner. Unfortunately, the food just misses the mark at every turn. read more

For added convenience, there's a garage in the alley directly behind Dauphine's that I used (and thankfully so because I could barely move after eating so much.)] From the moment we stepped through the entrance, I felt like I was in the French Quarter. Arrive camera-ready, people, because the layout and decor are Insta-worthy. And the menu...my oh my the food and drinks were impeccably presented and mouthwateringly superb, boasting authentic Cajun and Creole touches served with a contemporary flair. Our orders were quickly delivered by a friendly, polished staff including our attentive bartender for the evening, Christian. Thank you! I had to turn my phone off the following day as my guests called and texted me virtually nonstop, raving about how much they enjoyed the NOLA vibe in such a luxurious setting. I came for restaurant week in January. The food was decent. For starters, we got the smoked chicken gumbo and lobster fritters. The gumbo was delicious just a touch salty, but I recommend! But the lobster fritters were a little underwhelming; I could barely taste the lobster. For entrees, we got the fried chicken and waffles and the catfish creole. The waffle was good, pillowy! Wow! I absolutely love the ambience of this restaurant. They were so beautifully decorated for Christmas, it was so tasteful. Their menu has lots of variety to choose from which I really appreciated. The servers that we talked to were all super friendly and helpful! Even the host was super personable and started off our experience feeling very welcomed. I had high hopes about trying brunch at Dauphine's, but unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered the crab cake brunch entrée and when it arrived, the food was cold. I sent it back and waited about 15 minutes for a replacement. When the new dish came out, the server mentioned to be careful because the plate was very hot. After taking two bites, I noticed a large bug in the food, embedded in the sauce and spinach. It was honestly shocking and completely turned my stomach, especially considering I had already started eating it. The manager did apologize and removed the entrée from the bill, but by that point my appetite and overall experience were ruined. I was really looking forward to brunch here, but this situation made me uncomfortable and concerned about the kitchen standards. I left shortly after and will not be returning. I also wouldn't recommend this restaurant based on my experience. I'm sharing this so others are aware of what happened during my visit. read more

When I went, we enjoyed listening to the live jazz in the background. It's refreshing to hear live music and people enjoying themselves in the city. insanely delicious meal from start to finish. i absolutely loved the vibe of this place. it's a large space and they've used it to full effect, fitting so much in nooks and crannies without it feeling tight. the service was perfect, and the place seemed to encourage warmth - i chatted with people at the tables on both sides of me! a lovely couple to my left recommended the fried artichokes as an appetizer, which i split with my friend. they were so good, crispy and flavorful. for a main, i got the baked stuffed shells, which were french onion flavored with soft caramelized onions and lots of gruyère. i bodied this dish lol, i practically licked the plate clean. for dessert, i got the gianduja semifreddo and my friend and i also split the bananas foster baked alaska. i got a chicory espresso martini to go with it too. the drink was strong but didn't taste like it - one of the best espresso martinis i've had, and paired so well with the semifreddo, which was otherworldly. the baked alaska was also excellent - the combination of the cinnamon and bananas was phenomenal. one of the best dining experiences i've had in a while - it so deserves its bib gourmand! read more

Me and my girlfriends went here today (1/11/2026) for brunch at 12:45pm - we were seated pretty immediately as we had a reservation. During Sunday brunch, there is a jazz band playing which is a nice addition to this already aesthetically pleasing restaurant; definitely a cute spot! We were promptly greeted by a friendly bartender upon being sat, he gave us water and told us our server would be with us shortly. Unfortunately, this was the beginning of the challenges of our time at this restaurant, our server did not come shortly and we ultimately had to flag someone down to get help, and that person helped track down our server. We were having trouble deciding what to order, so we asked our server for the most popular items/his recommendations, he proceeded to list off most of the items on the menu which didn't help us narrow down what we wanted to order. I decided to start with the crab and artichoke dip while we continued to peruse the menu and decide what we wanted for our entrees - I thought the crab and artichoke was yummy. Unfortunately, our server took forever to reappear, so we ended up flagging someone down (again) and we ordered our food from them. I ended up getting the Blackened Catfish Creole and both of my friends got the shrimp & sausage gumbo. My food was just okay sadly, it lacked flavor, however the catfish was cooked perfectly. Both of my friends said the gumbo was "weird" and not what they expected. FYI, our server did not check on us throughout us eating our meals, we got a dessert menu (from someone other than our server as he just wasn't around) and I got beignets and my friend got pineapple upside down cake. Ugh, I hate to report this, but the beignets were not great, they were too bread-y and my friend didn't care for her dessert either. Came to Dauphine's for restaurant week brunch and had an awesome time! The place has two beautiful patios and is quite spacious. We sat inside and were delighted to find their was live music. Every though we were at the table right next to the music, it wasn't took loud and we didn't have to shout which was appreciated. Our waiter was awesome. Really nice personable guy! I had the spritz to start -- perfect brunch drink, light and refreshing. For my starter I went for the crab hush puppies which absolutely slapped they were incredible! For my main I had the egg cheese and pork sandwich on sweet potatoes brioche and a sweet potato hash -- hard to go wrong with a classic breakfast sandwich. Super filling and the bread was great with the fluffiest egg I've ever seen on a sandwhich. The hash was also really yummy! Finished with bread pudding which was great but the best dessert on the menu is the peanut butter one! Its like a PB&J! Had a bite of my friend's and was blown away. Ended with a coffee that was super tasty. Will definitely come back and will definitely sit on the patio! read more

Celebrated a friends bday at Dauphine's during restaurant week. This restaurant is huge with lots of seating including bar style table seating. They have a nice outdoor bar and indoor seating. They specializes in seafood and have a great selection of oysters. I have the smoked chicken gumbo with potato salad for my appetizer, Swordfish for my entree and beignet for dessert. Server is also great though they were really busy but he was funny and helpful. read more

We went here for happy hour on a Saturday. We ordered the sparkling wine and oyster po boy sliders, liver mousse and fried boudin balls. We also ordered beignets. Everything was delicious. Service was wonderful. Our server was Christian in the beginning and Declsn took over. The manager kept asking us what we wanted to order, which was sweet. I guess he didn't want us to wait. I was super hungry! The ambience is wonderful. I felt like I was in New Orleans. read more

My best friend wanted to get together for happy hour and recommended Dauphines and I'm so glad that he did. To know me is to know that New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the country and Dauphine's offers a little taste of New Orleans right in D.C. We sat at the outside bar for happy hour which started out empty but within 20 minutes of us being there ended up being packed. For the evening we enjoyed the Local Oysters on the Half Shell with classic accompaniments (lemon wedges, mignonette and cocktail sauce) allowing the oysters to shine. The Crab & Artichoke dip was delicious and served with a house made cheddar cracker that honestly I could eat by themselves. The Creole Shrimp Cocktail were served with a yummy remoulade dipping sauce and I can't forget about the old fashion's that were probably some of the best that we have had a a long time an added bonus is they were on the happy hour menu so we indulged in a few lol. All in all I had a wonderful time at Dauphine's from service to the drinks and food. I will most definitely be back to try out some of their other menu items. read more

One of the best restaurants I've tried in DC! They offer unique flavors and everything we ate here was delicious. My favorite was the scone. They also had live jazz music which was very enjoyable but it can get a little loud. The service was nice and the waitress provided great recommendations. read more

Made me feel like I was back in NOLA! Love the interior design, definitely have the aesthetic down. Excellent cocktails with a wide variety to choose from - we weren't disappointed in anything we tried. Boudin and the fish dip were delicious - accompanied with some homemade(I think?) saltines. Phenomenal bites. Bread service was top notch, biscuits with the jam and butter could of easily been dessert. Really nice bread basket. Oysters were prepped well, no complaints. The duck jambalaya was the weakest dish we had, definitely not bad - but not great. Breast was a bit chewy when it should of been the highlight. Would of been better without the duck and just more sausage and kraut! Beignets with decaf cafe au lait reminded me of being at du Monde after a long night of good times. Brunch Bread Basket Biscuits were soft and perfectly golden brown. Banana bread had a nice banana presence. I liked the touch of sugar topping giving it a pleasant crunch. The andouille sausage and cheddar scone was excellent. The only downside is the amount given does not leave enough for a table, unless you share small slices. I Cynivised by adding hollandaise sauce, which the tang from the hollandaise kicked it up a notch. Plenty of steak and potatoes giving equal amounts in each bite. Perfectly poached egg on top.
