Well as time has passed much has changed. Mar-Val Sentry Market opened a couple decades ago, I guess, making it much easier to get a good selection of groceries on this side of the lake. Now if you want to make the drive to Lakeport you can visit Safeway. My how things have changed! Back to Sentry... selection is good, staff are friendly, store is clean, and most importantly the location is convenient for those staying in Glenhaven, Lucerne, Nice, and Upper Lake. Prices are a bit on the high side, but the convenience makes it worth the extra cost! I'm sure when I'm up at the Lake, I'll be shopping at Sentry, just as I have this trip and many before.

She was super sweet and told me that she was inspired by her Nona's biscotti recipes and started the business with her son, who came in later with his girlfriend and they were equally nice! I went up to the counter finally and, feeling overwhelmed by the selection and display case, asked the cashier what they would recommend. I ended up with a croissant, a cookie, and the cashier-recommended canneles. I didn't even eat the cannele until the following day, and it was pure bliss. Cute little pasty about 2in tall with a crispy, caramelized experiour and moist custardy 'cake' on the inside. I had never eaten anything like it. To this day, I search far and wide for canneles and will go to great lengths to secure them. They are a rare delight simply because of the artistry and precision and expensive tools/ingredients required to make them. Franny's has a special spot in my heart for introducing me to the magical little pastry, canneles. For that, Franny gets all the stars!
