Prima at core volleyball will not give you volleyball coaches. Rather they will give you untrained volleyball parents/aunts/students to run the coaching. Do not waste your $5k at this club. I would rate this zero stars if I could. Core makes a sales pitch at the beginning promising high level consistent volleyball training and coaching. The team has been passed from coach to coach as they leave the company or move on. They have unskilled parents/aunts/students coach and this is unacceptable for the cost of the program and sales pitch. Core Volleyball is just a money grab. We were at other private elite clubs for many years and they have a much better product for less. I have never written their coaches in 10 years of training with any level of complaint. Given the many other negative Yelp reviews and discussions with other parents our experience is not unique. The coaching is poor quality and you will not get the value. Core Volleyball does not deliver what they promise. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

There is a very apparent bias at this club and it's all about the money. Management is very poor in responding back. They sell you on cross training but cut short on those sessions by 30 minutes or more. More often than not will you find anyone there to help answer your questions. The director is the worst in getting back to you. You are better off asking your admin questions to the coaches. If your child is a beginner put them in the fall ball or spring and summer programs to see if there's any progress. Do NOT waste your money in putting them in the season. They will just bench them, especially if they are non-white. There's a very clear bias which even other parents noticed how some new kids were just benched and not rotated in while their "white" friends were always pulled in. Look at the pictures and you'll see the minimal diversity. Sadly that's seems to be intentional. For the fees you spend they don't give you much, talk to the other clubs you'll see they give you a lot more - shoes, banner, proper knee pads, volleyball socks, better shorts etc. After the big lump you spend initially there is a lot of extra costs and by a lot I mean A LOT!! expect another $1000-$1500 easily between gas, food, hotels and out of the blue costs for banquets and trainers. Coaches seem nice but they might be scarce because all the assistant coaches were head coaches of other teams and so they rarely came to the games. Even though they sound very enthusiastic in the beginning about the group pretty soon they have their favorites and they only work on them the whole season. 4 families in our group felt ripped off, looted in broad daylight. Our kids morale dropped although they did make some nice friends. Lesson learned. We will never go back. We will find a better place, that will show respect equally to all kids. read more

My son wanted to join the volleyball club. Called the business at least a dozen times and left 2 messages, as the mailbox was full other times. If a business doesn't have time to respond to inquiries. I can only imagine that is probably lacks time and capacity to properly train the athletes. read more

If your daughter has passion for volleyball, dont join Core. For it is just a waste of time and money. My daughter joined the 15/16s premier team and due to lack of players, Core invited two 17 year-old players and the whole team was then forced to be placed in the 17/18s division and had to compete with 17/18s teams WITHOUT BEING NOTIFIED IN ADVANCE nor being asked if we agreed or not. Coach mixed up tournament dates and the team missed the whole day of matches. Core is just money oriented and wouldn't care if your daughter has improved or not. My daughter has lost her interest in volleyball after playing with Core this season. Other girls in the team chose Core only because of its convenient location - the only good thing about the club. 1 word to describe Core - Lousy. read more

Core Volleyball is very well run club. Both from the entry level through advanced training and conditioning, and of course COMPETITION. There are several advanced coaches and trainers in Core, that have participated at collegiate levels. At the entry level of the spectrum, you want to learn the FUN-da-mentals and enjoy the sport. The coaches and club directors are committed to excellence, and will guide your player fairly. Core has courts and cross training. You will see multiple college bound athletes working out here, from many different sports. It's impressive to watch the skill and intensity level they bring to work-outs. "Winners are not defined by the scoreboard alone, it's how they play the game with integrity and respect". Core's coaches exemplify integrity and respect. This club is poorly run and very disorganized. There are some good and bad coaches but the excuses and non communication are unacceptable when paying that much money. The minuscule refund for half season last year was a joke and after they offered a very small portion back we had to ask multiple times when we were going to get it. Still not received. There are other clubs in the area that are better suited to run a business. Beware when paying that much money. read more

My daughter played for CORE for 2 years. I found the club well managed and the coaches experienced, thoughtful and well liked by team members. Many times my daughter had positive feedback which helped her improve her play immensely. It's obvious that those players with a good attitude who take constructive criticism and ALWAYS play to the best ability get the most play time. That is what competitive sports are all about. Is it expensive - yes. All club sports are. But after playing for other clubs where coaches played their 'favorites' regardless of ability and provided no feedback to players so they could improve this club is a breath of fresh air. read more

Couldn't agree more with Michelle G's review. Core Volleyball is a poorly ran organization. I would never recommend this program to anyone. They are more interested in getting multiple teams in and making money rather than really training our girls. Their coaching philosophy is based on yelling and humiliating the girls. There were a lot of promises made this last season that were not fulfilled. I can't imagine this place continuing to stay in business. read more

DON'T was the recommendation from the other club's coach, I thought no way they are just saying because they wanted my daughter as a player. Signed up for core as they promised us a coach with 15years of experience,PAID. At first practice saw that we were given a 2 coaches with a combined experience of 3 years. Prima said don't worry they are amazing. 3 weeks later the male coach starting texting the girls inappropriately, both coaches were on the text. 1 week later one of the parents saw what was going on and complained, the coach involved was removed from this team but not from the club. He was never reported to the NCVA about his behavior. The parents were told that Jack will coach, that was not the case. They make as many teams as possible SO IT TRUELY IS ALL ABOUT MONEY. YOU CAN DO THE MATH 3 TEAMS PER AGE GROUP 10 PLAYERS, around $3500/each $105,000 That's just 1 age group read more

Core Volleyball Club is outstanding. Club Owner Prima Elam is honest and of the upmost integrity. Having coached for Core's 16-2 program several years ago, I have firsthand knowledge of how much Prima cares for each individual coming through her program. Now as a club owner, working with Prima all year as competing clubs I can take Prima's word for everything. Core is such a great club with amazing coaches and trainers. I recommend all of my friends and their daughters to play for this club. On my daughters first fall ball clinic (ever) she was so nervous and so was I. Prima, the club director and owner, came over and greeted us and showed us around. The coaches on the court made our daughter feel comfortable her first day there and really broke it down. I would recommend Core to anybody and everybody!! read more

CORE is all about their money. Extremely dissatisfied with the management. Focus is on total control and gaining money, not growing the girls and fostering positive experiences. Poor communication, organization. Please forward this review to others of interested in joining a volley ball club team in the east bay. Core VBC is more interested in making $$$ than they are a positive coaching experience. I would not suggest their program to anyone. We paid for a banquet that never happened this year & from what I understand the prior years banquet was also cancelled due to a wedding "sorry, not sorry" is the excuse I heard during orientation. I should have known better then! Last but not least the management needs to have a better record keeping system, I was contacted months after my daughters season ended for payment of $900+ that had been made 6 months earlier. read more

Last summer I went to their fall ball and I had never had a better time in my life. I found my passion through volleyball with them. Their coaches are experienced played through college and put themselves in your shoes. When I was trying out for the 13s team the coaches didn't even know some of the players and still treated them like they were friends. Its like a community there, everyone is friendly and willing to help. What I love most about core though is how they will never compare you to another team or the coaches will never be angry if you lose a game. Although the cost is high there are lots of benefits to core. you can show up to practice early and get some extra practice in. I will definitely play for core in the future. read more

My daughter played for CORE for three years. It was wonderful. The coaching staff was outstanding. If there was a problem, I spoke to the owner and all issues were resolved. They really do care about the players and did many things to help my daughter succeed. Todd Baham was my daughter's favorite coach. If was not for him, I don't think she would have continued to play volleyball. He encouraged her and saw her potential. Most clubs and coaches can't always see potential in players. He genuinely cares about the girls and their success. From my prior experiences with other clubs, I cannot say that. If you're looking for a club that's not too expensive and is a safe nurturing environment for your daughter, CORE is the place that I would recommend. read more

My three girls have been involved with Core Volleyball Club for several years now and we have thoroughly loved our experience at this club. The coaching and training is as good as it gets and because of the high level play my girls have experienced, my oldest is currently being recruited to play in college. Club Director, Prima Glorioso, has been involved in the world of volleyball for many years now and has personal relationships with many of the collegiate coaches on the West Coast. This is definitely helpful if your player is interested in continuing her career in the sport after high school. My younger daughters are enjoying developing their skill as well as their love for the game and look forward to every practice, clinic, and tournament as they love their coaches and their teammates--Core fosters a family like atmosphere where ALL kids can grow their love for the game. read more

If I could find a way to do zero star I would. This club is horrible all about money. Show something else and give something totally different. The coach promised was not even with the club at the start of season. Ended up with assistant coach of the assistant coach, who was lazy as they can be. Every player on the team regressed. You may hear a lot of good things about the club. But you will regret afterwards. Don't judge the book by its cover. Choice is yours. read more

My kids have been involved with a variety of sports and have played at AAU and club levels for many years now. This hands down was the worst experience we have ever encountered in any club, in any sport. It is obvious Core is in the club circuit just to make easy money, not to make players improve and grow. The coaches assigned to our team during true club season had other personal obligations or things they prioritized that would force them to skip tournaments, cancel practices (even to go to a Giants game), show up late (after a night of partying), and work on school work from the bench even while a tournament was going on. Honestly, my daughter has learned more at a week of summer camp at another club, then she did the entire season here. One of the coaches who was assigned to our team was way too immature to coach teen girls, and was more interested in them kissing her butt for court time then the player actually earning it. I'm sure the club manager was a least partially aware of the commitment level of the coaches from the beginning since I think she knows them personally, but definitely the club made the parents commit a huge amount of money and time. Core Volleyball is awesome!!! They have great facilities, coaches, programs, and a family atmosphere. Their facilities are great, You don t have to worry about practices getting moved around, because they have their own courts. The girls get conditioning included in their club volleyball. Our girls are strong and in better shape going into the season. My daughter has been playing for 2 years and has improved a great deal due to the fabulous coaches they have. The pricing is reasonable for club volleyball. They also offer lessons, spring, summer, and fall volleyball programs. Their club program is great and gives you 2 options to choose from, Power or Premier league. Great club!!! read more

Core Volleyball Club is absolutely invested in growth and development of young volleyball players. The main facility offers great amenities and opportunities for each player to build their physical strength as well as volleyball skills. Coaches are skilled, enthusiastic, motivated and very fair. They provide a lot of feedback and treat each child equally. Children who show drive and interest to learn will definitely see huge improvement from week to week and from month to month. I would encourage all parents who think that their children do not get enough attention from the coach, to have one of one conversation with the coach or to encourage children to have one on one conversation with coach as well. It has been my experience that coaches will always be welcome to give extra feedback and provide extra help to every young player. Young volleyball players who have drive and motivation to become great athletes should always remember that quitting is not an option. Bumps on the road should only be a motivation to push little harder. If your child feels that they are no getting an opportunity to play, maybe there should be conversation about what can coaches and parents do together to help them polish their skills or simply take more active leadership role on the team. Blaming failures on the coach or management may not always be the answer and long term solution you are looking for. read more
