Poor management and very dirty building compared to other facilities in Dublin and livermore. The instructor didn't greet us and forgot that we had scheduled. The staff is very nice but absent when it comes to teaching your children and any instruction for the classes. Extremely disorganized and I called multiple times over a month to get a class scheduled. Do not recommend this place and no one asked about previous experience. Go somewhere else for your children. read more

We love the staff here! Kari and Angela have been fantastic, friendly, and flexible with registration, scheduling, and make-ups. My daughter has Alyssa as a coach and has done makeups with Izy. Both coaches are great with kids! My daughter loves going here and wakes up every Thursday, announcing that it's gymnastics day. She told me she wishes she could go here every day! Also, I'm amazed by the (high school?) boys' athletic abilities here. Every time I'm at my daughter's practice, I feel like I'm at a free Cirque De Soleil show. My son is a competitive gymnast on the boys team at WCOGA and we love this place. This program and its incredibly skilled and knowledgeable coaches have not only made my son a better gymnast, but have also given him some important life skills like determination, discipline, resilience and confidence. Sergey, Izy and Vince give so much of themselves and their time to the gym and are invested in every one of their gymnasts. They know exactly what to do in order to help each of the gymnasts reach their potential and be the best gymnast they can be. This place could be so much better. The place is really dirty with a lot of stains on the carpet and the smell of stale food and dirty carpet. The people at the reception were having a massive meal just at the entrance, it was messy with papers and food all over the place. Once we settled in with the aesthetic and our noses adjusted to the smell, we entered the gym area and the class started. The instructor did not greet us, did not seem to be interested in what was going on and they did not care that my very young child was starting the class for the first time. My child was asked to do things that they had never done before - there was absolutely no conversation about what the previous experience was. I think this place could be so much better. My daughter has been on the Excel team for a few years here (having tried other gyms in the area first) . She loves the gym, her team and her coaches. Their approach certainly works for her and she has advanced accordingly. We've been very happy with the way she's treated and coached. Yes, there has sometimes been room for improvement in some of the scheduling and clarity on requirements for progression etc. but any issues or misunderstandings have always been dealt with quickly and professionally when we asked. All the staff I have dealt with have been friendly and happy to help. Reading the previous reviews regarding safety - our experience has been that this gym always seems to pay close attention to the safety of their students. Gymnastics is a very physical pursuit - there are going to be injuries just as there are on the soccer fields, baseball diamonds and skate-parks - but we're happy that the staff here do everything they can to minimize those risks. read more

My daughter felt belittled and poorly instructed with no fun. There was no formal introduction or clear instructions on what the group was supposed to be doing or learning. What was expected was very unclear and frustrating . She is 6 and left half way through class holding in tears and bursted out crying before we could get out the door because they made her feel so horrible because she was trying her hardest to perform while the instructor acted very displeased. This was her first time in the gymnastics gym though she has been doing tumbling in a dance class since she was 2. She was so excited to do formal gymnastics class and it destroyed her confidence and interest in gymnastics. Very unimpressed with the staff and the class. Do not recommend for younger kids or beginners. I would absolutely not even go back for a second chance and I have had to rebuild her confidence and excitement for gymnastics for months. The prices are reasonable for the area and the facilities are safe for little girls. Not the most conveniennt place for my schedule or freeway access but thats the break for me. Happy and safe. This is the worst gym ever! My daughter has gone here for 5 mos. and we have had nothing but problems from the beginning the girl at the front desk was extremely rude! Unfortunately we chose to sign my daughter up and take classes there anyways! The teacher that initially started the class was not trained very well, and the kids looked bored and like they weren't learning much! Then they added a new teacher, in four months I had been through three teachers already, The last teacher was the secretary that I had talked to five months earlier, Who was not qualified and had no qualifications to teach the class other then the owner showing her how to do it! The owner of the gym Vince is extremely rude and has no personable skills either! When I tried to talk with him he had no idea who I was did not know my name and had no idea who my daughter was even though we had been going there for almost 6 months! And I had paid $600 already ,When I explained to him that I had had issues with the teacher he said that she was well trained but could not show me any credentials that he had trained her for, he then proceeded to say if you do not like my teachers you need to leave! I explained to him that I had three other friends who had daughters who had been hurt and his gym! He said I was a liar and I was getting kicked out of the classes immediately! I told him we would never be back because I am not risking my daughter getting hurt by a teacher who has no idea what she's doing! I would not suggest sending any kids here these people are very unprofessional and have no idea what they're doing and it's a very high risk that your child will get hurt here just like my three friends whose children were hurt! read more

I agree with the other reviewer that the management of this business is horrible because the place is chaotic and unstructured with most teachers clueless as to which sections are booked for what time, etc. We liked our daughter's teacher but most of the other teachers are unfriendly and seem highly distracted during the class. The teachers frequently don't show up so they combine classes for various levels which results in newer students getting little or no attention. All in the all, it was a complete waste of money. The real tragedy is that my daugher LOVES gymnastics and this was a terrible first experience for her. I am actively looking for another class for her before she gets frustrated and gives up altogether. One more thing that irks me about this facility is that they have junk food vending machines in the locker rooms, which tells me that they are not serious about my child's well being or health but only interested in making money. read more

Wow. We tried this school for a trial as our 8 yr old daughter is enrolled in a Livermore gym now. She did the beginning tramp and tumble. I can't tell you how much better this instructor was than any she's had at the past school. I think she learned more and improved more in ONE lesson than she has in 8 lessons at the other school. He was totally engaged, the class was small, hands on, actually stopped the children and corrected them when they were doing it wrong and then had them so it over until they did it correctly (I watched my daughter do the same error on her attempt at splits at old school for 8 weeks and teacher never said a word), and he pushed them to do better, focus and improve. Also very good communicating and demonstrating each skill himself. My daughter loved the class and instructor also. read more

This is an update posted on May 17, 2016. This is long, because this is WORST business I have EVER had to deal with, and the only business on Yelp I would give NEGATIVE stars to. There is no supervisor except the front desk receptionist/manager who doesn't answer the phone unless you call from a blocked number and meddles in matters that have nothing to do with her. Her expertise in gymnastics is unknown & questionable, and I just thought she was the receptionist. One day, my son had a makeup class when he was 3 and 3/4, and I accidentally came early to the 4 year old class. Angela had a near conniption on why would I have brought him to the 4-5 year old Tumbleweeds class. And it was a mistake of course. Why was she flipping out about it? And she pointed out that my son wasn't following directions and shouldn't be there. Now I had made the mistake of having him in a play date that ran late, and he was exhausted, so it was difficult for him to follow all the directions, but he did most of the exercises to his best ability. Fast forward to November when we were planning a trip to India for one month, and on a day when Aadi had a class, he was still sick and we were leaving for India in a couple of days. I called WCOG to ask for a makeup, and Maria answered the phone and said I'd have to wait to talk to Angela the next week, and since we were leaving the next Wednesday on a trip to India, she was uncertain/doubtful on whether the makeup would be given since we would be gone for 3 weeks. I felt this was a reasonable question I shouldn't have to wait till the next week for. So I questioned this, and the next week I didn't hear back from Angela, so I called the followingTuesday, and Angela informed me I had been rude to Maria and that was unacceptable to WCOG if we wanted to remain there. When I asked her how was I rude, or what did I say that was rude, she had no answer. She just presumed it was so. No benefit given to the customer. We got the makeup day for Tumblebugs the last day in November, but never saw another day at WCOG thereafter. I had asked to be on the TumbleWeeds waiting list in December and was told there are no openings. Then I asked again when my son turned 4 in January, and Angela never contacted us again. I would wait to hear from her and she just left us hanging. She never put him on the TumbleWeeds waiting list, and 7 months later she told me he was not ready for the class without considering he was even older now. She said I would have to pay for a trial and was not guaranteed a spot anyway. She said we could find a different program. Why would I tolerate this lack of customer service? Only for my son. I felt like there was no one at the helm of this ship, that the only redeeming quality was the Teacher Izzy himself who was great with my son's class, and an improvement from the previous teacher who was also named Maria I believe, who had difficulty controlling the young ones from staying in line. And my son loved Izzy, had a real connection with him. And my son kept asking me, "Mommy, when are they going to take me back in gymnastics in Izzy's class?" I finally got to speak to Vince today, who simply reiterated what Anglea had told me, that if you don't like it, you should find another place. I told my son the owner Vince told us to "move on", and my son was near tears asking "why did they do that to me?" I explained it was because I had a disagreement with Angela, and the boss (Vin) only listens to Angela believing her lies about following the protocol. Never been asked to leave anywhere in my life. i'm a professional used to dealing with professionals, and this was run more like a sorority than a business. Now I know there are some good teachers here like Izzy, but they can't save this train wreck of mismanagement where the receptionist calls the shots and there is no customer service. We'll be moving to The Edge in Dublin where I don't hear about these kinds of problems. And my review of WCOG is not unique or the exception. read more

I have been wanting to give a review for some time but just now getting around to it. My daughter has been a gymnast at WCOGA for almost 4 years. Her coaches have always been of great caliber and she enjoys going to practice every single day. Yes, WCOGA has had ups and downs (all gyms have), but I am so glad we stuck it out. The gym is under new management now which has made a world of difference. Maria is extremely professional, and has a wealth of experience to go with it. She is very organized and supportive to the entire gym of athletes. The owner is equally supportive and dedicated to his gym and its members. The two seem to work wonderfully together. read more

The boys recreational program is a joke. It is taught by some teenage guys who have no clue how to run a class. It is very chaotic and the boys do not learn anything. This gym is amazing! They have a whole new coaching staff, olympic quality, a great mission statement, and a system of encouragement, and training that works, and wins! My older daughter (13) has been in gymnastics for 10 years and hurt herself playing soccer. She was out for 2-3 months and was told by her OLD gym that she would not be able to get her skills or a routine ready in time to compete optionals. She was crushed. Three other gyms said the same thing. The coaches at W.C.O.G.A. believed in her, as much as she did. With their help and support, she got her skills, she got a routine, she was able to compete, make states, finish strong in 5th place, and move up to the next level. She is so happy that W.C.O.G.A. and all four of her coaches, made her dreams come true. She cries when she has a day off from the gym. AWESOME!!! Very happy! This gym LOVES the sport, and lives for the sport. The ratios are great and the kids form sisterhoods and brotherhoods here! The coaches at this gym have been wonderful to my daughter. She started in the rec classes before joining the XCEL team at the bronze level and then advanced to silver and now gold. She trains 7 hours a week and looks forward to practice every time. We keep her at WCOGA because she has benefited in so many ways: goal setting, work ethic, team spirit, overcoming fears and obstacles, self-esteem, physical and mental strength, ability to perform in front of audiences, and excellent coaching from Maria and Janna. read more

This is two extremely positive reviews from two perspectives: our daughter is a recreational gymnast and leverages her training to excel in dance, and our son is a multi year, higher level state champion. On the recreational front, our daughter has learned from and back walk overs with quality form, overall improved tumbling and a terrific social environment. We've seen overcrowded gyms over the years, and WCOGA is not that. Organized, clean, good viewing for parents, and coaches actually come over to introduce themselves and speak to you about your child; they are mature and fun coaches and pave the way for kids wanting to be on their competitive team or simply stay with what they like. It is also a good value and the variety of classes is nice for her. On the competitive side, this is one of the, if not the, highest regarded programs in the US and clearly so in Northern California. The reason is...success breeds success and the approach and clear expertise of the head coach when applied simply works. The team has multiple national champions and skill development occurs before your eyes. This is a commitment, and frankly, experienced parents of gymnasts likely already know the above to be true. This place could care less about any child let alone yours. The owner is a nice guy but is puppeted by his office manager with lies to stir up the pot when she feels like making trouble.EVERY REVIEW IS ABOUT THAT OFFICE MANAGER WHY CANT THE OWNER SEE SHE IS DISMANTLING THE GYM BRICK BY BRICK! He believes every lie told to him and reacts without investigating. They threaten to sue you if you do anything they dont like what a joke this is california and last I looked we still had the first amendment in place. The law states if you speak the truth its A ok.He had 23 team members leave and could not put together that it was her behind the scenes.It is very rare for so many team members to walk out in the middle of season.Class ratio standard is 8:1 in any gym but here its 15:1.You do not get the hours you pay for.You get a rec coach or compulsory coach when you should have an optional coach. Children are verbally abused with fowl language . Non usag members on the meet floors no safety certification and no FINGERPRINTINGwhich is mandatory in the state of california . The head coach is unaware of new codes costing team low scores. The optionals pay for 20 hours and get only 17.This is alot of money over time and who suffers your child. Whats sad is this place is run by intimidation lies and total chaos. Even the day of when something is to happen you are not notified. This is supposed to be about children and their best interest and they are on the bottom of the list at this place. Good choices are close by for your daughter.Do your homework investigate before leaving your child in the care of these people. read more

We switched to wcoga in Jan 2010 after my daughter became too advanced for the local recreation district's gymnastics classes. We have had four of the main teachers, and have also tried classes in the morning & afternoon at all different times. The teachers are WONDERFUL. However, the office manager/secretary has been inconsistent. She has given us incorrect information about class size several times (saying there are only 5 students in a class, when there are really 8 = my daughter doesn't get enough attention in class). The class sizes have increased greatly in the last month, but they don't have more teachers. Also, several parents including myself requested a new level 2 class in the mornings & were told by the office manager it was going to happen. After two months of asking about it and being told meetings were being held about it, it never came to be. We finally gave up when they released the summer schedule. Also, I had a question about my daughter's progress and called to talk to her teacher. The teachers are in back-to-back classes all afternoon, so I was told she would call me at 7:30pm when her classes finished. Unfortunately, this is the 3rd day in a row I have called and the teacher has yet to return my call. When we first joined the academy I LOVED everything about it, but I'm starting to get burned out by the lack of personal attention my daughter is getting and the lack of communication between teachers and parents when it comes to our child's progress. We pay A LOT of money to send our daughter to classes there, and expect a lot of attention to her in return. read more

We spent two years at this gym. I just moved my preschooler to Edge and we are very happy there - a world of improvement. Our preschooler did not enjoy the class taught by the teacher with no real interest and too many kids in class. Maria is the only quality instructor we came across. Our two older daughters took beginning tumbling from Nacho and had an awful experience because of him - calling our oldest lazy, making her cry. We pulled them out quickly. I have had my daughter take two trial classes both of which were not what I expected in a kinder gymnastics class. So much of the class was sitting down such that my 3-year-old was not at all interested in even staying for the entire time! Her first trial was at age 2 and she went today and she is now 3 so I gave it a year thinking that perhaps she wasnt ready developmentally. The teacher didn't even introduce herself to me and I doubt she introduced herself to my daughter! It seems like the gym is pretty chaotic since it took me several weeks to even schedule the trial. Since this most recent issue, I'm thinking that the issue is the gym and not necessarily my child. I'm so glad I didn't sign her up for classes! My daughter started about 1.5 years ago in a class to learn a back handspring and is now competing on the WCOGA Xcel team. She learned her handspring quickly and safely, but did not advance any further. We moved her to a regular gymnastics class, where she again learned fast and was invited to try out for the Xcel team. Her recreational classes were effective. However, her experience on the Xcel team has been absolutely wonderful. Her team is a diverse group of able, motivated, nice girls. Coaches Maria and Janna are competent, professional and caring. The other parents have been very friendly and helpful to us first-timers. The environment at the gym is focused but fun. The girls respect their coaches and work together well. They work independently as the coaches rotate from girl to girl. They have a couple of team building activities, such as a sleep-over at the gym, which my daughter really enjoyed. When my daughter made the team, Maria laid out her high expectations for the girls and their parents, which is a good thing. My daughter is a hard worker, and I'm glad she can be surrounded by similarly motivated, serious peers. The athletes at WCOGA seem to be exceptional kids to me. WCOGA's Xcel teams do well in competition, a credit to their coaches. The floor routines are varied and the choreography sophisticated (not cutesie or cheesy) and fit the dramatic music perfectly. The competition hairstyle and team uniform are very tasteful and athletic. The more I see of other gym's teams, the more I appreciate the great job Maria has done with her Xcel team. I've had no contact with the boys' coaches but I've watched the boys train. Their coaches are as dedicated, competent, professional and supportive as the Xcel coaches. Rene is very engaged with the young boys. Vince seems very reserved, but I think he's actually very dedicated and caring. The boy gymnasts do really amazing things, and their records speak well of them and their coaches. read more

Much improved. We have been coming here with my 4 yr old daughter for a year and I have seen a lot of changes and I am happy to see the change in the new preschool director/ teacher. Charlie is great with the kids and knows how to direct them. I know that teaching little ones can be challenging but she has done a really good job with the preschool classes. this is the worst gymnastics facility ever!!! do not take your babies here!!!! especially to amanda!!!!!!! i signed my 6 year old grand baby up for recreational gymnastics class on saturdays from 12pm to 1pm. it has been the worst experience with this company!!!! there is never a manager or even a receptionist on duty on the weekends so you have to wait until monday to talk with anyone in charge. this was my granddaughter's first time ever doing gymnastics(which i made clear at sign up) and after the trial class was over my daughter and i went up to the teacher amanda to excitedly introduce ourselves. amanda was so rude and said she does not have time to spend one on one time with my granddaughter and that she thinks that she should be put in the lower age class to learn the basics. we said ok and i when i spoke to the manager on monday she said that my granddaughter was in the right class for her age and that she will talk with amanda. my granddaughter stayed in that class about another month. amanda is just a high school kid and made it very clear that she does not really care to be there. she just walks around and tells the kids what to do. she doesn't really show them how it should be done. after the last class my granddaughter attended on 5/27/2017 she said that the teacher was really mean and said that "we weren't cooperating so she wasn't going to let us do anything fun." we are talking about 6 year olds, come on!!! this should be a fun experience for them. that following monday i told the manager that i want to remove her from that specific class(hoping that we can switch to a different teacher) and she told me to "take my granddaughter somewhere else because we are the only ones who have ever complained about amanda." please save yourself the money and go somewhere else. just look at the star rating of this business... i wish i would have looked before signing her up.. we have now switched to a new location that has 5 stars and we could not be happier!! read more

Wonderful experience with Nacho and our granddaughter yesterday. She has been in classes for months and we felt she had stopped improving and lost motivation, so we have been thinking about stopping. Switch in instructors yesterday caused a dramatic change in her attitude and performance. Nacho provides the right balance of instruction, individual attention, critique, and motivation for each child and, best of all, they have fun. We moved here a few years ago from another gym and really loved it! My child made progress and as long as we had the same teacher, things were good. But the lady in the office doesn't want to hear about problems you are having or really want to help you with problems. She has never given me the impression she values me as a customer. If you take two classes a week and have two different coaches, it is chaos! They don't teach the same things!!! I tried to get an answer on why it was so and I'm still in the dark as to why two different coaches for the same level don't teach the same things. All teachers teach the same things in each level for ice skating and ballet, why not gymnastics? There is no clarity on how you move from one level to the next. You are treated like a second class citizen if you are not on the team or predevelopmental team (and how do you even get there?). With the summer schedule, I was a bit confused by what my child was not learning. So, I asked the coach what level he was teaching. He said he didn't know!!! Then how can you teach? It's time to move on. We spend too much money to be treated like dirt and no consistent quality in teaching. read more
