When our 12 year old soccer player announced that she wanted to try out for middle school cheer, we were a little surprised. Being that she had zero cheer experience, I started an online search. Gymnastics? Tumbling? Dance classes? How do I prepare this kid? Then I stumbled upon the Try Out Triumph Class at CSE. Our daughter attended the Cheer Prep class, Try Out Triumph, and the eventually a Jumps class. I've felt out of place at some gyms, and dance studios. It was not like that at CSE at all. We felt welcomed in from the moment that we stepped in the door. Our daughter's coach was Sam. She said she appreciates all of the specific direction, all of the feedback, and how Sam was always super nice- even when giving needed constructive criticism. She practiced once a week from Jan-Mid May, and she DID earn her spot on the middle school cheer team! We're very grateful for all of the excellent guidance. Summary: . Very flexible and convenient schedules/hours of operation . Accommodating and friendly on the phone and at the front desk. . The coaches know their stuff. . Wether you're looking for a fun class, or youre way serious about your cheerious- I highly recommend CSE!

We originally signed up for ballet and tap lessons for my daughter, but we've since expanded to competition jazz--and we're hoping to add hip hop next year. The studio has such an amazing sense of community. From the other parents to the teachers, everyone is incredibly supportive and welcoming, especially for new parents like me. Miss Samantha, the owner and teacher, is truly wonderful. She's so patient and kind with all the kids, including my daughter, and you can tell she really cares about their growth and happiness. If you're even a little curious, there's a free dance day/class on February 1, 2025 where your child can try it out. It's a great chance to see how fun and inclusive this studio is.

Being new in the dance world, I liked that she had exposure to both types of dance (ballet and tap). It really helped us figure out which type of dance she wanted to stick with in the future. My girl was also able to participate in her first ever recital this past summer. She was nervous but the studio is such a warm & kind environment that everything went perfectly. She also had so much fun dancing on stage! The teachers, older dancers and parent volunteers are all so caring and amazing with the kids. Overall, a great experience.

Not explaining any of the moves, getting visibly frustrated with our daughter when she wasn't doing the movements just from hearing what to do on her SECOND week there. Mind you this was her first experience doing anything like this and had just turned 5. Then when the teachers (yes, plural) would get down on her level to show her, they'd aggressively grab her leg or arm and move it fairly rough to the position they wanted her in. They did this also with the split stretch -- which again, she'd never done before. I went and asked if they were supposed to know anything before this class because the way they were acting towards her was ridiculous. I told the front desk girl about it and she was surprised and brought it to the owners. My daughter cried when we got into the car, saying her teachers didn't like her and she didn't want to go back. The next class, she spoke to me and said that the teachers that were treating her like that were spoken to and it shouldn't happen again. That entire class she was there for that day, they would point at her and laugh (THE TEACHERS) when she was trying to do the movements, look at her after falling and roll their eyes and walk away. It was a NIGHTMARE. We never went back.

The teaching staff (at least for Level 1) has gone downhill since we started. My daughter has been in Level 1 prep for over two years because the teachers need to pay better attention to their students, and less attention to their cell phones, and to each other... The teacher we started with (Miss Izzy) is no longer at the school (went to college). The teaching staff has changed constantly since that change; we've seen 5-10 different girls teaching this class on a weekly basis. We recently visited another school (for just one hour) and with a little assistance our daughter was able to complete moves she was not receiving guidance on at VC. She is now rated Level 2, and is making huge strides and progress. We sent an email to the staff letting them know we were unhappy and that we were not renewing membership, in addition to addressing the above issues and received no phone call, or email back. This was upsetting since we had our two daughters there for quite a while, and had a good report with the front desk staff.

While they preach that athletes must meet certain skill levels--like having tumbling or flexibility--it's not consistently applied. There are athletes on higher-level teams (like J2 Crew, Covert, Swagg, and Pink) who lack basic tumbling skills or flexibility, yet they still get picked year after year. Meanwhile, kids who do have the skills are often overlooked. For example, there was a girl on J2 Crew who has been there for years and still doesn't have a back handspring. Yet, an athlete didn't get to fly because she was a priority. Weird. Cali is an amazing gym if you fit the "type" or look they're going for. But if you don't, skillset alone might not get you where you deserve to be. Just know--it's not always about talent. Sometimes, it's about the image they want to present. At first we told her why can't you go to Valley Cheer as it was in our hometown. Well long story short, we ended up taking her to Cali. Best decision we ever made. She started on a senior level 1 team as a flyer, which she loves. Let's just say she has the bug. She wanted to do Cali for a year to improve so she could tryout for HS Cheer, well guess what?!? You got it, she didn't tryout for HS as her main focus is to move up a level each year with Cali. This year she made a Jr. Level 2 team. She is one of the oldest, and is now a base. She is enjoying learning how to base, and her tumbling has improved in less than 2 years. This year will give her the opportunity to be a leader to the younger kids on the team. The staff is incredible!!! Calvin and Andrew were terrific coaches last year when she was on Deja Blue. They taught her to believe in herself. She gained confidence as well as wonderful friendships (so did this momma). The gym has taught her how to work hard, have goals and be disciplined. She has experienced highs, lows and many life lessons. We look forward to her year on J2-Crew, and working with Coach Brittany & Matt. Faith over Fear!!! Cali

I am extremely disappointed with how this gymnastics facility handled my daughter's injury…read more My 6-year-old daughter injured her neck during a forward roll in the morning. Despite the injury involving her neck, no one contacted us to inform us that an incident had occurred. We only learned about it at pickup around 3:30 PM, when we noticed her neck was significantly swollen and she was in pain. We then took her to the ER, where doctors spent over 7 hours evaluating her to rule out a spinal injury. We did not get home until 3:00 AM. Thankfully, it was not a more serious injury, but the situation could have been much worse. The following day, I met with the facility to understand why we were never notified. The explanations I received were concerning. The front desk staff could not provide a clear account of what happened because different instructors worked the morning and afternoon shifts. It appeared there was little communication or proper handoff between staff members. I was surprised by how disorganized the operation seemed. I was told that staff did not re-evaluate my daughter's condition in the afternoon because she said she was "fine." She is only 6 years old. Children are not always able to accurately assess or communicate the severity of an injury, especially a neck injury. It is the responsibility of trained staff to monitor the situation and notify parents when an injury occurs. When the owner, Danielle, later joined the conversation, she stated that her staff "did exactly what they were supposed to do" and that this had been their protocol for 15 years. She also said they would pay closer attention to my daughter next time. Unfortunately, that completely misses the point. This is not just about my daughter--it is about the safety of every child in their care. Any neck injury should be treated seriously, and parents should be informed immediately. What disappointed me most was not only the lack of communication, but also the lack of accountability. Rather than acknowledging that improvements could be made, management defended a process that failed to notify parents of a potentially serious injury. As a parent, I can no longer trust this facility with my child's safety. I would strongly encourage other parents to carefully consider whether this is the level of communication and care they expect when leaving their children in someone else's supervision.
