I attended a really awesome community yoga class here a few months ago. It was a rainy day, but the class was exactly what I wanted and needed. At first, I was a little skeptical of the musical choice, but it very much so matched the instructor's vibe and flow. I like to try a yoga class in each city I visit and I tried this Core location last weekend. The front desk area, locker rooms and an especially nice retail section were all pluses. I did the Core power 2 and it was fine; not great, not terrible, and I got my exercise in. The microphone made it hard to understand the teacher's instructions and the room was small enough I wouldn't expect teachers to use them. The best part was being in the studio overlooking the street on a nice day! read more

Loved this spot! The staff were super friendly and helpful (you are amazing Gigi!) and the yoga sculpt class was fire. The rooms are a little heated, so despite the 30 degree weather outside, the rooms were warm so you got limber really quickly. The sculpt class is a little faster pace than a typical yoga class but we're only in the city for 4 days so my husband wanted a spot to do some yoga while we were in town. He signed up for a free week and took 4 classes. I joined him for this one bc I'm not that into yoga but I had a blast! A great workout, nice space, helpful staff! If you live in DC or are looking for an in-and-out spot to take classes and be in your way, this is the place! The locker rooms are clean and organized and there are showers too! Twice I've gone to the studio after signing up for a class and showed up when the class starts and no one is there. I don't understand. I've also seen them cancel classes when five people are waiting outside in the cold because of some unexplained reason. I think the range of teacher effectiveness kind of varies. Some of them are awesome and I do love the heat, but it's a mixed bag and parking is horrendous. read more

The CorePower studio located in City Center is my favorite location. It's located above ground, which allows for natural light. The studio is always clean. The instructors are knowledgeable and fun. Studio 2 has a broken thermostat. Check it before you workout. I worked out and almost passed out only to realize the temperature was above 120F. Like with temperature being the whole deal, you'd expect trainers and staff to be competent enough to check it. read more

I was excited to find a CPY one block from my hotel during a recent visit to DC. I attended a few classes while in town for a conference and enjoyed my visits. The staff was friendly and the instructors for Sculpt were great. There was a nice variety of class formats and times. My only complaint is that the mats that I rented were falling apart, so I had black particles all over me when I left the classes. Hopefully this location will update their rental mats soon. I'm a black tag member so you know I'm a big fan. Teachers are usually very good and it's in a great location. The only way to get the ceiling cleaned is to write a public review. I've alerted staff to the exceedingly clogged air vents - yes- full of lint and clumps on the ceiling tiles. The ceiling lights are covered as well. I even offered to have my husband come in the clean the ceiling every other week. I wasn't kidding. He loves me enough to do it. The cleaning of the floors should be a no brainer, but not here. I often take the first class of the day and it's rarely clean. Mat remnants are all over the place. Not cleaned after the last class and not cleaned in the morning. What the heck? Why is this such a problem? The location makes a fortune - hire a cleaner! Yikes. I don't like leaving negative reviews but I'm at a loss on how to get the situation rectified. read more

Used my one week trial, and I was in love! Yoga Sculpt was a great sweat with the right amount of calmness and stretching. The locker room were always clean and the instructors were consistently great and have different variations of yoga sculpt. The one thing that was NOT CLEAN, which deducted one star, was the yoga room. Instructors did not clean or mop the floors after each or any class, like their other location in Bethesda. I walked into class seeing puddles of sweat on the floor from last class and even saw a band aid that the instructor did not clean. There was also sweat marks on the mirror wall, it was gross. Cleanliness and hygiene are as important as the classes. read more

So first the good. Good: It's clean and consistent with the CPY brand. Staff is friendly and personable. All the Sculpt instructors I have had have been hard but energetic and made the classes enjoyable. Bad: No parking, but this is a given in DC. Very few HPF classes and some C2 classes I have taken have been more similar to a C1 or C1.5, not very advanced. Even with the bad I would highly recommend this CPY in general and this studio in particular. It just may take time to find the instructors you prefer. read more

Why i went: I'm on vacation and want to stay working out. I usually train 3-4Xweek back at home. I received the free week of yoga for new corepower folk so I've been going to check out classes and different studios. Location: since I'm a visitor to the city, I took the metro, and walked. its close to the chinatown metro station. the yoga spot is above fly wheel, the indoor spinning studio. The building it is in and around is very nice with some high end fun shops. shops I can't afford to shop in but is nice to see so. I felt it was a safe area. I went for the 10am Yoga sculpt class. was my first time. was fun and challenging to do hot yoga flow to start, with blasting music, and 1/2 switch to basically weight training and some cardio and finished off with abs. I love having a workout where I feel the burn in my muscles and feel like I worked it. this was a good place to get that feeling. I do enjoy the class, but I think personally, I'd rather do just hot yoga all the way, or weight training, in not such a warm environment. hahahaha but all is well and was different and fun to combine both worlds. Its good to try something new. The teachers were nice and welcoming and helped demonstrate all the moves. Studio: Clean. has nice stuff to shop for. Plenty of weights and mats for rent. ($2). Towels $2. and water $2. I think they even had a bin of hair ties you can take at the door which is nice. this is the second corepower studio I've been too around town and I do like the studios. Its clean and feels. At this facility, they provided locks if you forgot one to lock your locker. Their showers were clean and soaps were filled. I wish the showers had a cold water setting because it was either warm and up to hot...and after today, I wanted freezing water. hahahha Other studios sometimes have plastic bags so you can put your sweaty clothes in it, this one did not, or I didn't see it. Theres a hair dryer, mouthwash for you. theres no hair on the floor that I visibly noticed. And there IS wifi!! Thank god! They have wifi hotspot. very nice! thank you so much for having that available! especially for us travelers. Crucial. read more

I was in DC for a few days and needed to move and stretch. We've got CorePower at home, but I've never tried it. I've probably done yoga 20 times in my life, so I wouldn't consider myself advanced in any way, though I do know several of the poses. I signed up for a drop-in session (rather than the free first week - which I'll wait to use when I can maximize it). The manager here was incredibly welcoming and helpful. And I had a wonderful, challenging session with Brieanna. I'm glad I chose the 4pm class as it wasn't too crowded. Several of the reviews here are from those way more experienced with different studios than I am, but as an out-of-towner, looking for a good session, I give it two thumbs up. read more

It was my first time at a CPY, and hearing all the buzz about it, I was severely disappointed. The locker room wasn't clean, the quality of their mat was poor, to the pou t that pieces of the mat was coming out in the middle of class onto my skin and towel. The towel you can rent from them was cheap and very uncomfortable and there was no towel in the shower. I took a Yoga sculpt class and it was likely the worst group fitness class I was ever taken. Being someone who take 4 group fitness classes a week (boxing, pilates, spin and HIIT), I would say that the sculpt class here is experiencing an identity crisis. Also why would you pack 45-50 ppl into a small heated room? I am never coming back. read more

I've done 7 classes here at City Center and have always had a good experience. Read the class and instructor descriptions beforehand! C2 and the Hot Power Fusion are well balanced on intensity with opportunities to try more challenging moves. Do C1 after you've got the basics down. Teachers feedback is excellent. Aside from this past Saturday for the free C2 class (a nice touch, so can't complain), it's not overly crowded. Even fairly full its got a good vibe. Mobile app is very useful for finding classes at alternate locations, love the add to calendar feature :) Watch for promos on gift cards you can work out a good deal on class packs, especially if you're a teacher yourself, military or a student. read more

I give a one star only because of sanitary issue. I have always been a CorePower Yoga fan, but it's so gross to practice here - a piece of nail almost poked through my mat today. And I try not to discern the white pieces on the floor while practicing, but after the long stretch, and you are on your right bicep and you open your eyes, what do you see? DEAD SKINS. WTF. It's so disgusting. When I roll up my mat there's even a ball of blonde hair stuck to my mat, plus more dead skins. JUST HIRE SOME CLEANER PLEASE read more

Wanted to balance out the negative reviews about their billing practices with feedback on their actual classes. Gorgeous studio right by CityCenter. I started with their two week free trial and surprised myself by staying on the unlimited membership - wanted to beat that 20 class challenge! I took all of the class types offered at this location with almost all of the instructors - C1/Candlelight Yoga, C2 (Favorite instructor was Shawna), Hot Power Fusion (Deborah is the best), and Sculpt. All of the classes are much more intense than your typical yoga class, which I found addictive and helped me develop my arms, shoulders, and abs quickly before my wedding. Sculpt in particular is a bootcamp-style class. I removed a star because many classes in the month after the studio opened were mat-to-mat (notably Sculpt) which is distracting when you're trying to get in the zone. But overall, highly recommend Corepower Yoga at CityCenter. read more

I had a great class at this studio with Carlita - she gave great cues, modifications and her yoga sculpt class at 12:15 pm on Fridays was appropriately challenging. +'s: + Lots of lockers in the changing room + Separate changing facilities, bathrooms and showers + Provide a few basic amenities (lotion, locks on lockers) + Convenient location -'s: - Not very clean. The locker room area wasn't very clean. The floor had a TON of pieces of mat on it from the mats that core power lets people rent for $2. I would have thought that the floor would be cleaned and swept in between classes, but this did not appear to be the case, as at the start of the class, the floor of the studio was quite dirty. -No mat cleaner -No towels (even hand towels you have to rent for $2) - Too pricey compared to other DC yoga studios of similar caliber. Paying $25 for yoga classes prices certain individuals out of yoga altogether and is too high given the lack of amenities compared to other similarly priced exercise classes (barre, spin). They also don't offer any community class options like many other DC studios do to try to bridge this divide. -Hate that you can't sign up online in advance. Why can you only show up to class to claim your spot? I can't go all the way to a yoga class only to get shut out and have to wait for an hour! -No parking in this area read more

Lovely place on the 2nd floor with 2 large infrared(?) heated studios good enough to fit over 20 students comfortably. Separate locker rooms for both men & women. Mats and towels available for rent. 1 week free trial for new students to the studio just perfect for me (and my sis-in-law) as we were visiting DC that time and staying at the Marriot Renaissance which was a five minute walk away! They even have a good-sized boutique up front with clothing and props, etc. of popular yoga brands (Beyond Yoga, Manduka, Alo, Spiritual Gangster, etc.) for sale. If around the Washington DC downtown area come here for lovely yoga classes (by John for challenging corepower 1) and hot yoga (Ferdaouis-gave clear cut instruction and variations for beginners, nice!) read more

The classes are great and the instructors friendly. The studios are bright and large and clean. Only bad point is the cleanliness of the men's locker room which is really bad. Even at 6am when no one has used them since the night before there are dirty towels on the floor and pubic hairs all over the showers. I'm a Black Tag Core Power member, which basically means I pay a monthly membership fee and can attend as many yoga classes as I'd like in any studio across the U.S. (except for NYC where I have to pay a surcharge). Core Power follows a Baptiste-style methodology, which is more or less heated vinyasa (the cyclical flow of postures) with an emphasis on pranayama (breathwork). There is a range in the quality of instruction, but most instructors are fairly good. My favorite teachers are Anna, Nate, Katie, & Sarah (and of course their classes are always full). CorePower has accessibility and availability. I recommend it for anyone looking to explore this style! read more

I'll start with the positives. The studio is a well designed space, including a nice changing room, with showers and lockers. The staff was friendly enough. They also offer a one week free trial, a nice offering. As a registered yoga instructor from another state, there are some issues with this studio I feel need to be discussed. I attended the same class two days in a row. Even though I had two separate instructors, the flow sequence was the exact same. No creativity on the part of instructors in designing a flow to the students in the room. I wouldn't continue to attend a studio that maintains the same flow. Secondly, and most importantly, they DO NOT clean the floors. The floors were dirty both days and as our class ended students preparing for the next class entered with no staff or instructor cleaning the space. The rental mats are terribly cheap so don't expect Manduka or similar products. They also don't rent appropriate yoga towels such as yogitoes. Expect an old and stained bathroom towel. Not a terrible experience, but it also didn't leave me feeling grounded and connected. Owners take note. read more

They now offer 6 a.m. Sculpt classes every weekday morning, and they even added in a 4:30 p.m. Sculpt class on Saturday and Sunday. This was my first yoga experience. I started with the yoga sculpt class first from a recommendation from a friend. It took a few minutes for someone to acknowledge me at the front desk (she was organizing clothes). Locker room was really clean and they give you locks for lockers. I noticed they didn't clean the yoga room after the previous class which I would have liked to see. Overall great experience - looking forward to the rest of my free week! read more

I enjoyed this location because the view of the city while performing yoga is beautiful and motivating. I am not a "yoga" person but I am fit and I workout about 6 days a week and my sister asked me to try Yoga Sculpt with her over Thanksgiving. She said she took it at the Chicago location and really liked it and thought we should try it together. So naturally, I give in and say okay, I will brave Yoga for you. We go, check-in is easy, we lock up our stuff and go to the room they told us to. It was my first time so my class was free (thank g-d) otherwise I would've raised bloody hell. We will get to that in a minute. We get some weights and find our place in the class and wait for the instructor. I only knew what weights to get because my sister told me, there was no instruction or information for what to do....then Megan our instructor comes in. She comes in HOT, shouting and blurting out whatever non-english Yoga stuff and then starts telling the class to go in to some poses (I don't know ANY pose names) aside from corpse pose, you know the one like you're lying dead on the ground. Anyway, there was no, "hi I am Megan, I am your instructor, is anyone new today?", there was no intro, no nothing. She just came in and starting shouting. The horror continues.....as each minute went by I found myself to be trying to follow an instructor who had no plan, no consistency and legitimately made us feel we were all have seizures. You know in a class where you do an exercise on one side and then do it on opposite side? Yeah, no. That didn't happen. Just shouting, something similar to jumping up and down as fast as we can, with no rhyme or reason. Ashton are you there? Are you punking us? I thought it was a comedy skit for real. Half way through my sister just sat in protest, I couldn't stop laughing because I was in the middle of a complete and utter train wreck. While all the non workout seizure activity was happening (and it was NOT a workout), Megan was yelling "MASHED POTATOES!", "STUFFING!!!" (it was the week of Thanksgiving), so picture a class of people, trying to follow a teacher who gives no instruction, yells, goes incredibly too fast and then is screaming names of carbohydrates at you for motivation....yes this really happened. So let me just help you out right now, DO NOT waste your money. Please g-d. Never go to Megan's class unless you want laugh uncontrollably while also wasting 25 bucks. It is pure comedy but in the worst way possible. Pray for them. read more

A good friend gave my husband and I a two week free coupon to try out the studio. When we went in to redeem our coupon, they told us we only had a week of free classes. Talk about false advertising. However, after our experience with this studio, we never want to go back. My husband put all of his stuff in a locker, which had a lock. When he returned to the locker after class, the front of his locker had been ripped off, and his wallet, 2 i-Phones, and Tag watch had been stolen. We reported the theft to the receptionist, who barely reacted other than offering us a phone to call the police. When a manager finally showed up, we barely got an "I'm sorry." The police questioned the receptionist, who said that two guys came in that looked like they "did not belong," yet she let them into the locker room without even questioning why they were there. We wrote a letter to corporate to complain about their lack of security. It's been over a month and we haven't heard a word from them. However, we waited on the phone for a total of an hour to cancel our Costco Citi card, and Costco gave us a gift card, and Citi gave us a credit on our bill for our troubles. Worst customer service ever. We made the mistake of giving them our email, and they email us weekly to advertise their studio, yet refuse to even contact us to apologize for what happened. read more

BEWARE deceptive business practices of corepower citicenter!! Do not give corepower your credit card info unless you are 100% sure you want to join! I was charged for a month membership, without warning, and despite corepower's explicit statement that I would not be. After finally reaching an agent after half an hour on hold with their only office that handles membership (which is in Colorado), I gave notice I wanted to cancel my membership. The person said she had already charged me, despite my giving notice in under two weeks. She agreed to cancel the charge because of that. But she did not. Corepower has since been unresponsive. Also, it was only through repeated pressure that corepower citicenter got me to give my credit card information. I saw a Facebook ad to enter a lottery for two free weeks at corepower citicenter. I "won" but when I called to redeem, corepower told me to give my credit card info. I refused once I understood the two free weeks were attached to giving credit card info. But corepower called me back and insisted I could cancel after two weeks. Apparently corepower does not calculate two calendar weeks according the a regular calendar. And corepower is unresponsive to efforts to dispute charges. Corepower yoga appears to deceptively advertise and misrepresent terms to prey on unsuspecting yogis! Corepower is not a normal yoga studio focused on the practice of yoga. It seems to have one interest--making money--regardless of how. Please share if you have had a similar experience with deceptive marketing of corepower citicenter. I am very interested in compiling the number of people who had this kind of experience to see if it is worth lodging a complaint with some kind of regulatory agency. I tried several CorePower Yoga studios around town and this is by far my least favorite. Falls Church and Glover Park locations are much better, in my opinion. Some good things first: - Free trial week. What a genius idea! I went 7 days in a row, sometimes a few times a day trying out different studios and different classes. I learned that C2 is my favorite class - perfectly challenging and makes you sweat tons. C1 is great when you want to take it easy and focus on the basics. Yoga Sculpt is fun early in the morning to really wake you up before work. - Some teachers are really good. Chris is my favorite and I wish he taught at CityCenter more. Not so good things: - This place gets PACKED around 5:30-7pm. Like my-mat-on-your-mat and your-feet in-my-face packed. I frequently wonder if it's even legal since it must be a fire hazard...Definitely not your ideal yoga experience. - There are so many teachers and so little consistency that it's hard to know what kind of experience you'll get. I had really good teachers and really terrible ones, and there are always so many substitutes that it's hard to keep track of everyone. - I don't think they clean the floor in between classes. I remember how clean the floor was at the Falls Church location and how fresh the smell was. Not here. I can frequently see hairs left on the floor from previous classes and the smell is that of sweat, not a fresh disinfectant. I got the black tag membership for $155 and will probably cancel it at the end of the month. The quality is just not there...even though the location cannot be be beat. read more

I've been to Core Power many times and attempted to take a 7:30pm class and they had changed the schedule in the middle of the day and made the class at 7:00pm. It is incredibly frustrating when there was no way for me to know about this change and so I plan my day around it only to not be able to go. If you want an unreliable and overpriced studio, look no further. read more

I just started at CorePower two weeks ago and I've gone almost every day since! The atmosphere, the teachers, and the classes are all unmatched. Our favorite class they offer is yoga sculpt which is an awesome yoga/boot camp hybrid. I've never taken a class quite like this, and it gets me moving and sweating unlike any other I've taken! The other classes, CP1 and CP2, are calming and perfectly timed and taught. My favorite teacher is Kristen (teaches sculpt on Saturdays) who leads a fun and upbeat class!! The studio is small but perfectly sized for the amount of people they host. The locker rooms and bathrooms are very clean as well as the studio spaces. It is well organized, and you even get a free week of yoga with your first class! If you were looking to try out a new studio, this is the one! read more

I went to take a class this morning and was blessed with a free pass and it was a private class. It was my first time at a core power yoga studio so I was interested in the sequence of the level one class. The room was warm at 85 degrees. The sequence was a ashtanga like flow w core work. I enjoyed it. One of the things that is promoted about this chain of studio is the playlist- I am a yogi purist and music and yoga fads tend to throw me off. The music was ok but the class would have been super without it. Kara was the instructor and she was nice. She accommodated my adjustments and was patient w my practice when I needed to modify. read more

Could not be more disappointed with the customer service at this location. They repeatedly have swiped me into a class only for there not to be room for my mat- no apologies or accommodations made. Please keep up with a better system and tell your instructors to not let others in when they have already turned students away. Will not be renewing my membership, also in part to the declining cleanliness of the showers and locker room. read more
