I was billed twice for co-pay of $200 (total of $400) due to a return visit to the ER. Despite the fact that the 1st doctor (Dr. Clark) sent me home with the same symptoms, despite the fact that I returned within 24 hrs, despite the fact that staff did not charge and indicated I would not be charged a co-pay the 2nd time around, .... I was later billed the 2nd co-pay. When I disputed the 2nd charge through patient relations, the case was investigated and sent to the same doctor (Dr. Clark) who mistreated my headache in the 1st place! The incompetency, the conflict of interest, lack of transparency in billing policy, but worst of all? THE GREED on the part of Dr. Clark and this hospital. This is why hard-working Americans are incredibly frustrated with the health care in this country. It is not all the insurance companies. In this case, it is the hospital. I been coming to Beaumont, which was Bon Secour Hospital till now it's Corewell Beaumont Hospital for years because my doctor is part of staff there. Depending on what's going on in the city, I never had to wait in ER. I saw Er Doctor, blood drawn and test done within an hour of being there. All the doctors I came in contact with was good , but of course they were at the behest of my PCP. I came here because I had an infection and while I was here getting antibiotics and treatment, I caught Covid here, but they took really care of me. One of their big issues is they don't want you in pain while you're there, so their pain management care is good at giving you what you need to make sure in you're recovery that you be comfortable. Now they make sure they bill you, I received emails letting me know what my cost owed after billing my insurance. Their food program is good as hospital food is, also they're on the " call and order". Your food and they prepare it and bring it to your room within 45 minutes. All of the food service employees are so nice and when they bring your food, they make sure to put it on the table and setting you up to eat. Only problem I had and it's not the food service fought, if you are very out of it, calling to order your food is quite forgetting if you're feeling bad trying to recover. As for as everything else they did their job and I didn't have a bad experience except for getting Covid while I was trying to recover. read more

been sitting in the waiting room for 8 HOURS. seen people come in after me, get called before me, & then leave all while IM STILL IN THE WAITING ROOM addendum; so after i FINALLY got to the back, they put me in a gurney in the hallway where "dr patrick" openly rolled his eyes at me & told me that it is "all in your head & there is nothing more we can do for you" so after a 11 HOUR wait, i was seen for not even a total of 30 minutes, & discharged after i had just had surgery a week prior & was having complications with said surgery. do not recommend. also, do NOT ask about wait times bc the "nurses" at the front desk will laugh at you, roll their eyes, & say "priority patients come first" so ya fuck this place not to mention while in the waiting room where i sat for 10 hours, i was told that my inflamed, puss filled, infected arm, was not a priority & that i had to wait. what was a priority to these people ? Im pretty positive after the most routine procedure my dad was injured by whoever was performing his surgery. What I was told by everyone in the world was an in and out procedure cost him almost five months of his life in and out of this hospital until he was finally taken somewhere else. Reoccurring internal bleeding, terrible attitudes from anyone I came across when I had any questions about it, out of work that entire time. My originally healthy father came back 50 lbs lighter with multiple more procedures under his belt and still no answers about what really happened. read more

Went to the laboratory for a blood test and was erroneously charged. This was in June and it took me until January to erase this wrong charge. There is no continuity at Beaumont/Corewell (or what ever they're calling themselves now). Call center workers are not trained to solve YOUR problem just to extract $$ from you. One call I asked for an address to the billing office so I could mail in information supporting my situation. I was told there was NO address. (Come one people). I came in June 10 at 3am because I was having contractions and soon as I got here they brought me up right away. I just want to say I honestly forget all of my nurses/midwives names but I eventually had my baby boy at 11:00am and the ladies here were absolutely amazing. I really wish I could remember names and to tell everyone individually how amazing they were but there was one lady specifically that was the absolute sweetest women ever her daughter had just graduated this year I hope this might help if anyone that works here reads this. This lady was so good at her job from the moment I got there the patience she had with me, the support. She held my hands thru my epidural helped me thru my contractions. She honestly was so patient showed me how to properly breathe thru it. She was just very good at her job she was my favorite. But everyone here was supportive and so comfortable to be around I had an amazing birth experience here with my 2nd baby I will always remember. read more

Worst experience I've ever had in a hospital. I sat with my eye super glued shut in the waiting room for four hours. Not so much as a cold compress was offered. Just go else where because they do not care. I was treated like my pain lacked importance and the energy was just off. You can feel the lack of concern as soon as you step in. Outpatient surgery- foot surgery was scheduled for 9:45 a.m. I arrived at hospital, it was difficult to find the main entrance , and visitors parking area. When we arrived the hospital main entrance parking area was having renovations and it was raining outside. I was trying to get dropped off at the main entrance door but the workers outside waved us to keep going through, we assumed to the parking area. We weren't sure we were at the right door, so we proceeded to circle around the building again. Only to return back to the same area where construction was being done. My son dropped me off a distance from the hospital . I just had to walk to what I discovered later was the correct entrance (main entrance). First, you need better signage . Second, tell the construction workers , please don't direct traffic. We could have pulled up in front of the door. Instead of having me walk a distance away. So I entered building and I was directed to outpatient surgical area. I waited s short period of time,maybe5 minutes. I was called by staff and escorted to a patient cubicle . My weight was taken. I was instructed to undress , put on gown, hairnet and cover myself with a blanket. Room extremely cold, so I was offered a warm blanket and also a pillow. Staff was very friendly, each staff member introduced them self's and asked me if I knew what surgical procedure was being performed. I noticed this question was asked by just about everyone that entered the room. This reassured me we all were on the same page. The Nurse was super pleasant and friendly. My IVF and compression boot was provided by the tech and the Nurse made sure everything was started and placed correctly. The anesthesiologist came in introduced himself and explained what anesthesia would be used for my procedure. I also met with snd spoke with my Doctor prior to the procedure. The only problem I had was the wait time, not sure if they were just running behind or just booked too many surgeries at one time. I arrived at 0800 a.m , but the procedure wasn't performed until 02:30pm. So, make sure you bring a phone , charging cord , book , anything to pass the time. They do have a television in each cubicle, which was great. However, the television could only get a select number of channels. After, the surgery procedure, staff called for my son to update and pick me up. They asked for permission first. They offered fluids and something to eat. Discharge instructions were given. They called for a wheelchair transporter , to assist me to the car. The transporter waited in the lobby with me until my son arrived , was super pleasant. The entire experience was great, 4 star was given because the actual surgical procedure did not start until after 2p.m. , it was scheduled to start at 09:45 a.m. I had been NPO (nothing by mouth) since 07:30 day before surgery. read more

Great care except for the nurse I had when I was admitted. I have stage 3a CKD and she accused me of intentionally holding my bladder, all because I couldn't pee using the Parma-fit urine collector. I was disgusted and finally told her she was crazy because I have great difficulty peeing no matter what, everyday of my life. I told her just change it out w/a Foley catheter because I got fed up w/being harassed by that 1 nurse, who was way below Beaumont standards! The rest of the staff /nurses were great! read more

I wish I could give negative stars. Avoid this ER at all costs unless you want to have to open a fraud case with your insurance agency. Between my insurance charges and what I paid the bill for a $300 shot and $50 worth of medicine with no IV, no testing, and less than 15 total minutes of facetime with any medical professionals somehow came to $3000. To emphasize, I went in for a minor back injury, NO IMAGING was done, was given oral painkillers and one shot, and somehow am being billed for $3000. In the itemized bill, the biggest charge was for a Level 5 ER visit. A Level 5 visit is the most severe/highest level of care. Again, no EKG, no IV put in, no imaging, no blood work - yeah really seems like they thought I was having a severe emergency. Shady and appalling. I am currently seeking patient advocate groups to further escalate this complaint. Don't give yourself the hassle I'm going through, if you have to drive an extra 30 minutes to go to the next one DO IT. I would never have thought that I should read reviews before going to an Emergency Room at a hospital. Sadly, I do not think anyone will care about this or any review of this hospital but I want to just put this out there for others to know. On 5/7/21, today, I had to take my son to ER because he has Type 1 diabetes and was having keto acidosis symptoms. Upon arrival, he told the "nurse" that was the situation. He was given anti nausea medication because he could not stop vomiting. Again, he asked them to check his blood sugar, again he's has Type 1 diabetes! They never checked his levels, put him on some morphine to help with nausea. He said he basically passed out for a couple hours due to vomiting for the previous 4 hrs straight. I received a call from him after about 7 hrs they discharged him with meds for anti nausea. The diagnosis was unexplained vomiting! He was in the car for 5-7 mins and the vomiting started up again! HE WAS NEVER TREATED FOR THE PROBLEM HE WENT IN FOR! The only thing they did was give him an opioid, which is supposed to be a problem in our society now, and then release him! Well, after he stopped vomiting by the side of the road, we turned around and went back! There was no other place to go close enough or I would have driven him to any other place that may want to do their job! Its a sad day when doctors and nurses do not care about the people they are supposed to take care of. Why did they go into that profession? I guess Beaumont and doctors only care about the money not the people! When we finally get through this, will NEVER go to Beaumont Grosse Pointe again! read more

She was in isolation for 2 days, and barely received any care and the baby was not being monitored. After several attempts of buzzing the nurses with no one coming, she went to the bathroom on her own. She thought she just had to go to the bathroom, but she ended up having the baby and it was still born. They did not do a DNC and she was discharged 12 hours after this occurrence. REGARDLESS of short staffing, HOW could anyone let this happen? What human being, let alone a health care professional, under any circumstances would let this happen????! I have been really blessed to be treated well every time I've visited here. Over the last year I've come 3 times. Once for labor and delivery. I really enjoyed my experience. There was only one pediatrician I didn't care for, but everyone else treated our little family with respect and kindness even down to the cleaning and dietician staff. This year I visited the ER due to a miscarriage. Although it took a while to be seen and then discharged, I understand that hospitals are understaffed and very busy right now. After my miscarriage was diagnosed as incomplete, I had to return for an outpatient D&C. Everyone who cared for me was understanding, kind and full of compassion. I don't know where to begin but I will start by saying that this hospital is great!! They saved my life and they put my needs before their policies. I have a 10 year old special needs child and when I went to the ER, they found that I had blood clots in my lungs. I had my son with me because we don't have family. They admitted me and allowed him to stay with me, right by my side in a pull out, sofa, chair. I was able to get the care that I needed without feeling like I was being punished, for having my son with me, the way that st John moross made me feel when I went there. The staff was great!! They were extremely accommodating to my specific needs and I'll forever be grateful! Allyca was the best nurse I've ever had!! Hopefully she'll be a charge nurse soon because she has what it takes!! Now, the vascular crew, they were very rude but I was only down there for 20 minutes so it didn't take away from the genuine kindness that I received from everyone else. We were transferred there from Lenox Er..literally went from great to fantastic. Mind u..they still operate on " hospital time " but we never felt neglected or "out of the loop". The compassion, explanation, professionalism, and knowledge of the staff, from the nursing staff to the drs..top notch. Every medication, iv bag, what to expect next, was explained. Even the crabby guy in the other bed was not only addressed with professionalism, but also..compassion wasn't compromised. Our nurse, Jody, who took our care in the room pre-op..came downstairs..in her coat, with her purse and lunchbox to check on us and assure that she would be there the next day for continuity of care. Oh mammograms! Well, they aren't exactly fun. There's the squishing and squeezing and the holding your breath and the back-of-your-mind fear that something might be not-so-good yet knowing that you should calm down because this is just a part of taking care of yourself and not that big a deal and you are a big girl. Unless you are dealing with breast cancer--and they seem to handle that really well. But this is the best experience of what should be a routine and stress-free series of scans. Walking in the front door and asking for the breast treatment imaging department, you are greeted by several funny and helpful associates, one of whom just leaps up and escorts you to the mammography unit past the coffee bar and around a series of weird turns and then you end up in the office with some of the nicest medical staff you could hope to meet in a comfortable waiting area with almost no wait time. And you are in and out in the blink of an eye. The lovely woman who checked me in also handed me a patient directive form to fill out (which I have been meaning to do for like 30 years) that I can return to any doctor's office in the Beaumont network to be included in my patient record. I was seen almost immediately and out under 15 minutes. No one wants these screening tests, but they are vitally important and it's nice to have them in an environment that feels so comfortable and welcoming. read more

I was in the emergency room on 10/19/21 for Kidney issues and had a temporary stint put in for 2 weeks. In the 2 weeks I spoke with 3 different representatives form the hospital and told them I had catastrophic insurance. Come the 11/2/21 to arrive at the hospital at 9:30 to have the stink removed, I received a call at 8:30 stating they needed $4000 NOW in order to have the stint removed. I told them I did not have access to $4000 at a moment notice got no response. I still arrived to 9:30 and they told me basically n o $4000 no removal. SO now I get walk around with a stint in my Kidney until I come up with $4000. I was at this hospital once in 2019 and 2020 for kidney issues and never had insurance issues, until now!!! read more

"I'm going to have to brush you off." "This is not why I started working at the ER." Really? As far as I'm concerned. That man, who was complaining about the reason why he was starting work there, shouldn't work there at all. So in the past I've had good experience with doctors. I don't know if tonight this one in particular had someone shit in his coffee or scream in his stethoscope or what, but I had the absolute most rudest and NON-HELPFUL experience ever! I had more concern from an Urgent CARE doctor and a Mental Health doctor, than the doctor I'd seen tonight. Hit my head on the kitchen cabinet yesterday and got nauseous after about 2 hours. Felt incredibly tired and would've gone straight to the doctor if I wasn't watching my dying father. However, today I had the chance to go out and the Urgent Care people took one look and after I told them the symptoms I'd had, they sent me to the ER. So I went here, because of having had a good experience in the past. Only to find out that this time around was not so good. NOPE, In fact, I had the good doctor tell me after I explained what happened that he would have to "Brush Me Off". Not joking. Those were his words. We spoke about me coming in about 2 weeks ago for something similar. Which yes, I was there because I'm a klutz and I hit my head on the solid oak bunk bed I own. IN THE SAME SPOT. Now, this wouldn't be a concern much for anyone, but I have a very rare disease called, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Which means, those bruises and wounds can sometimes take up to 6 months to heal. Plus the bone-density of an 80yr old woman. So, adding another hit to the same spot can be incredibly dangerous for me. So here I am being sent home. No cat scan like was ordered, because he thinks I should check in with my normal doctor for PAIN MANAGEMENT....even though...this was a new wound today, and it's not just about the pain but possible internal bleeding or even a fracture to my skull since with my disease that is possible. :) But hell, we won't know that now will we..? Because he didn't take me seriously. He literally, "Brushed me off." The name of this doctor is, Dr. Douglas J. Macaskill DO. Perhaps someone should further educate Mr. Douglas Macaskill. I had to wait over an hour while all the nurses played it on their phone and sipped there Starbucks. I had outpatient surgery here this week. What a rollercoaster I had to arrive at 530a for a 730a procedure. I haven't had surgery since I was a child, but that seemed fine. Until We got there and they didn't start calling patients back until almost 545a! Seemed a little unprofessional. The nurses and techs who helped prep me were fantastic. Super sweet and talkative which really helped quell my nerves. The anesthesiologist also came in and he was fun to talk to. (I'd had a pre-op call with an anesthesia nurse the Friday prior, which was also good.) Different techs came in to do different prep tasks, then my surgeon came in just to chat through things one more time. He seemed to be in a bit of a rush which wasn't the case at my consultation, but it put me a little on edge again. As soon as he left, it was like the Green berets of RNs came in and things were in motion extremely quickly. There was also a HIGH SCHOOL student from GPNHS in there?? They must have given me the happy juice before she came in because in retrospect that's freaking WEIRD. Anyway, very little chatting and then I was on my way to the OR. There were tons of people in there which I assume is normal. But that HS student was in there too! (oh, what GPF money can buy!) I barely remember anything past moving to the operating table. It would have been nice for my surgeon to stop in again before I was asleep. When I woke up in recovery all I could hear was a nurse telling me to breathe deeply, and telling me that my surgeon couldn't find my husband. Nice wake-up call but whatever. I couldn't breathe well because I was in a lot of pain. Her only response was "that's normal, you just had major surgery". Whuh?? I get that I had to get the anesthesia out but the total disregard for my pain and comfort was really frustrating. It's also SO BRIGHT in there. I had to ask for a towel to put over my eyes. That nurse and another were concerned about my oxygen levels at one point, but I literally couldn't breathe deeply. I was really sad that they couldn't give me any tips/tricks for taking better breaths, but just kept snapping at me. I then went to my private recovery room. My husband came back (he was at home, which is just around the corner). From this point on I was still in a lot of pain and kept telling the nurse there. Her only solution was to "go get the doctor so he could admit for pain management". GIANT EYE ROLL. Maybe you could just be patient and give me an hour to 1. wake up and 2. let the meds kick in? So rude. Surgeon came in again to follow up on one issue that came up, but he was in a huge rush again. Not that I needed him to stay by my bedside but it was literally like "Went well. Put ice on the incision. Bye." The initial recovery room nurse went on break evidently, so then a nurse named Nan (pretty sure. I was a little high still, lol) came in. SHE WAS GREAT. Finally someone who helped me breathe normally, and recommended that I sit up in a chair to help with both the breathing and the pain. Nan was so wonderful. She took my vitals one more time. Then I decided just to get my butt home so I didn't have to deal with the rush there anymore. The initial recovery nurse came back and once my husband helped me get dressed, she was stripping the bed before I even got all the way into the wheelchair. Nice exit. See ya. Like I said, a rollercoaster. Like anyplace I'm sure there are good and bad employees. At times this really felt like a factory, though, which was disheartening. I'm thankful all the people who took care of me did so, though, and I trust the doctors here immensely. The experience just leaves some desires. read more

My one and only time visiting this hospital was on 4/25/18. I came here to bring my uncle balloons and donuts from Bommarito Bakery to celebrate his 59th birthday while he was staying here for a few days. While the visit pulled at my heartstrings, and it was an emotional rollercoaster to see my Godfather not feeling well, I have to say that the setting was as comforting as it could be- for hospital. I entered the building and the 3 people sitting at the desk were very friendly and helpful in pointing me to the direction of the elevators. I found one and rode it to the 3rd floor. When I got off I had to stop at the nearest table to detangle the birthday balloons, a custodian sweeping past nodded his head hello and smiled at me. It made me smile, and I needed it. I found my uncles room and he was with a nurse. I excused myself and said I'd be back in 5, she was polite and said she'd done in just one minute. I returned and was so happy to be able to hug my godfather. It was a great visit, even considering the situation. There was also a very polite man cleaning and disinfecting my uncles room and bathroom while I was there. He was quick yet efficient and told my uncle he'd be back after our visit was over. I love my uncle to pieces. The 3 people at the desk wished me a good day when I left. The hospital is very clean and I noted a large gift shop and Starbucks as I exited. The parking structure was a train wreck. It's a hospital that's much better than most I've been too. But this review is solely based on one visit. read more

Go to this pain clinic if want to be treated with biased service. I am a 70 year old African woman. I was a patient at the Beaumont pain clinic for 4 years. The administrative staff are a bunch racist, rude bigots. They discharged me from the program because I missed to many appointments. Twice I was hospitalized and couldn't cancel my appointment. The last time I missed my appointment I was given the wrong appointment date by a member of their staff. I was discharged by the office manager who refused to speak to me. If I had been a 70 year old white woman and forgot an appointment I can assure you that I would not have been treated like this. This was done without the approval of the doctor. Worst place to go to. No nurses. Just staff that takes blood pressure and vitals. And doctors are rarely around at all. Very disappointed. I wouldn't even send my worse enemy there. read more

If you need to have surgery here, never fear. You will encounter some of the friendliest and most professional folks ever. I was scared going in, but they quelled all my fears so I could relax.
